Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for fixing a lifting jack and motor vehicle comprising such a device
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for fixing a lifting jack in a motor vehicle and to a vehicle comprising such a device.
[0002] Conventionally, lifting jacks, used by the occupant of the vehicle when needed, are mostly fixed in the trunk of the vehicle to be available quickly and easily by the occupant when needed, for example in the case of a punctured tire. As visible in the prior art in [Fig.l], these are fixed by means of an end piece 1 screwed onto a rod 2 arranged in a projecting manner on the trunk side trim 6. Commonly, as visible in [Fig.l], when the jack is screwed for fixing on the rod in the vehicle, the rod projects from the screwing end piece, which has the advantage of producing a compliant face of the jack in the vehicle, not risking a detachment of the jack likely to be noisy or likely to come into contact with the user in the event of an impact.It also provides visual assurance to the user that the screwing is correctly done, and does not pose any interference problems because it is located in the trunk, away from the occupants.
[0003] The problem arises in the case of vehicles with three rows of seats, i.e. one more row in the trunk. When the last row is in place, there is interference between the protruding rod of the end piece and the occupant sitting on the rear side seats of the vehicle. This interference presents a risk of injury to the occupant.
[0004] The invention aims to remedy this problem while ensuring and facilitating proper mounting of the jack in the vehicle.
[0005] To this end, the invention relates to a device for fixing a jack for a motor vehicle comprising a fixing rod provided with a thread, a jack provided with a jack head having a through opening intended to engage the fixing rod inside the opening, an end piece intended to be engaged by screwing onto the fixing rod, characterized in that the end piece has a central circular recess intended to house one end of the fixing rod.
[0006] The recess advantageously makes it possible to provide a housing for the end of the threaded fixing rod. The recess does not provide additional stress on the screwing by creating a clearance around the fixing rod, while not causing any hindrance to the screwing, by not increasing the surface area of the rod engaged in the screwing. Due to its circular characteristic, the recess is sized as closely as possible to the rod, it allows the rod to move inside it without causing any discomfort. In addition, the recess advantageously allows the user to visually check that the jack is correctly positioned in the vehicle.
[0007] In preferred embodiments of the invention, one and / or the other of the following features are further used, taken alone or in combination: - The central circular recess is extended in the center of the end piece by a conical recess up to the threaded opening intended to be engaged with the fixing rod. - The tip has a roughly M-shaped section. - The tip has indentations and protrusions on its outer surface allowing gripping - The tip has a diameter greater than 3 cm - The tip has a central circular recess with a maximum diameter equal to two-thirds of the diameter of the tip. - The tip has a hollow interior depth at least equal to half the height of the tip - The tip is made of plastic
[0008] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a device according to the preceding characteristics.
[0009] Other aims, advantages and characteristics of the invention will appear on reading the following description, given by way of non-limiting example and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:
[0010] [Fig.2] is a view of the device of the invention installed inside the vehicle.
[0011] [Fig.3] is a sectional view of the device of [Fig.l],
[0012] [Fig.4] is a view of the device of the invention installed inside the vehicle for vehicles with three rows of seats.
[0013] In the following description, the terms “longitudinal”, “transverse”, “vertical”, “front”, “rear”, “left” and “right” are defined according to the usual orthogonal reference system for motor vehicles and which includes:
[0014] - a longitudinal axis X, horizontal and oriented from the front to the rear of the vehicle;
[0015] - a transverse axis Y, horizontal, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X and oriented left to right of the vehicle when the vehicle is moving;
[0016] - a vertical axis Z, orthogonal to the longitudinal and transverse axes X and Y and directed from bottom up.
[0017] In [Fig. 2] is shown a fixing device 10 according to the invention for a jack 30 for a motor vehicle. The jack 30 is fixed to the interior side trim 300 of a motor vehicle, for example inside a trunk, along the interior side walls bordering the trunk. The fixing is carried out by means of a fixing rod 40 provided with a thread, the fixing rod being secured to the interior side wall. The jack 30 is provided with a jack head 33 with a through opening 34. The opening 34 is formed inside two flat lateral fixing arms positioned on the jack head. The jack 30 engages the fixing rod 40 coming from the side edge of the vehicle inside the opening 34 of the jack head. The jack is held in position along the side wall by means of an end piece 20 intended to be engaged by screwing and tightening on the fixing rod 40. As visible in [Fig.2], the end piece 20 has a central circular recess 21, in which the end 42 of the fixing rod 40 is placed. This central recess has the advantage of allowing the fixing of the jack 30 to the interior side wall element bordering the trunk to be visually checked and to ensure that the jack 30 is securely fixed to the vehicle and that there is no risk of it becoming detached.
[0018] As visible in [Fig.3] of a sectional view of the end piece 20, the end piece has a central circular recess 21 extended in the center of the end piece 20 by a conical recess 22 up to the threaded opening 25 engaged with the fixing rod 40, in particular engaged with the threaded portion of the fixing rod.
[0019] Thus the end piece has an internal well adapted to the housing of the fixing rod 40. In a particular embodiment, as visible in [Fig.3], the section of the end piece has an M-shaped section. By M-shape, it is meant that a collar surrounds the internal well and then falls laterally in a circular manner in the form of a lateral skirt, with a slight flaring from the upper edge of the end piece. This flaring advantageously makes it possible to improve the grip of the end piece by the user of the vehicle wishing to use the jack 30 by offering a wider grip for the fingers of the hand.
[0020] The tip also has on its outer surface indentations 26 and projections 27 which also have the technical effect of improving the user's grip on the tip.
[0021] As seen in [Fig.4], the end piece 20 is attached laterally to the vehicle in the environment of the seats of vehicles having a third row. With the end piece incorporating an internal well, there is no longer any protruding element likely to injure the occupant, namely the arm or elbow of the occupant seated in the side seat 200 nearby.
[0022] In a particular embodiment, the tip 20 has a diameter D greater than three cm, which allows both a significant improvement in grip and makes it possible to provide a radius that does not have a steep surface likely to injure the occupant seated in the nearby side seat, a diameter of four centimeters being a preferred dimension for this purpose.
[0023] Advantageously, the end piece 20 has a central circular recess 21 with a diameter d at most equal to two thirds of the diameter D, which makes it possible to have edges having a significant thickness thus reinforcing the solidity of the tip, and which also allows for the edges to have a contact radius compatible with the safety references of a vehicle interior accommodating occupants, namely a radius greater than the value of 3.2 mm. The tip 20 has a hollowed internal depth p at least equal to half the height h of the tip 20, which ensures both sufficient support on the fixing rod 40 and a usable length for positioning the tip 20 of the fixing rod 40 inside. A large depth of the tip 20 relative to its diameter also has the advantage of safe use of the tip 20 when dismantling and reassembling the jack 30 in the car.Given the length of the end piece 20, it becomes possible to unscrew it as much as possible from the fixing rod 40 over a large length of the fixing rod 40 and thus to maintain it on the rod, at the end of the rod, during the disengagement and reengagement of the jack 30 from its location in the vehicle. It is thus sufficient to pivot the jack head in the direction of the end piece 20 to release the fixing rod 40 from the arms of the jack head 33 and thus allow the movement of the jack 30 from its storage location in the vehicle. During the entire operation, it is possible to keep the end piece 20 positioned at the end of the rod. Of course, a conventional release of the jack 30 with total release of the end piece 20 from the fixing rod 40 is always possible. The end piece 20 is preferably made of plastic.
[0024] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described.
