Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Kettle Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of liquid heating appliances, and in particular electric kettles. The present invention relates more particularly to the field of so-called double-walled or double-skinned kettles comprising an external covering forming an external wall and an internal pot forming an internal wall. State of the art
[0002] CN216256676 U discloses a double-walled kettle provided with a lid and a container comprising an external covering and an internal pot which have a common upper edge. The common upper edge at least partially defines an outline of an access opening to an internal volume of the container intended to contain water.
[0003] Such a kettle allows for quieter operation when heating the water as well as optimized water temperature maintenance.
[0004] However, in such a kettle, the sealing of the internal volume of the container when the lid of the kettle is in the closed position on the container is not guaranteed. Also, there is a risk for the user, in particular in the event of the kettle tipping / falling, that boiling water could be ejected from the kettle and burn the user. Summary of the invention
[0005] The present invention aims to remedy this drawback.
[0006] The technical problem underlying the invention consists of proposing a double-walled kettle whose safety during use is improved.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a kettle comprising:
[0008] - a container having a central axis configured to extend substantially vertically securely when the container rests on a horizontal surface, the container delimiting an internal volume intended to contain water and in which the water is intended to be heated and in particular brought to a boil, the container comprising an external covering and an internal pot which have a common upper edge defining at least partially an outline of an opening for access to the internal volume,
[0009] - a grip handle,
[0010] - a pouring spout configured to be located opposite the grip handle by relative to the central axis of the container,
[0011] - a lid configured to close the container, the lid comprising a face lower configured to be located opposite the internal volume.
[0012] According to the invention, the internal pot comprises an internal radial protrusion, and the kettle comprises a sealing ring received on the internal radial protrusion, the lower face of the cover being able to come into axial contact with the sealing ring when the cover closes the container to ensure a seal between the internal volume and the exterior of the kettle.
[0013] Thanks to the invention, the sealing of the internal volume of the kettle when the lid closes the container is ensured and its safety of use is thus improved. Indeed, the cooperation between the internal radial protrusion and the sealing ring and the axial contact between the lower face of the lid and the sealing ring, when the lid closes the container, make it possible to ensure the sealing between the internal volume and the exterior of the kettle. The sealing ring makes it possible in particular to obtain an enlarged contact surface with the lower face of the lid and thus to obtain an optimized axial contact surface to guarantee the sealing between the sealing ring and the lid. Thus, in the event of the kettle tipping / falling, there is no risk that boiling water could be ejected from the kettle and burn the user.
[0014] According to advantageous but not mandatory aspects of the invention, such a kettle may incorporate one or more of the following features, taken in any technically admissible combination.
[0015] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the internal radial protrusion is formed by a rib formed on an internal face of the internal pot, the rib being obtained by stamping the internal pot.
[0016] Such an arrangement makes it possible to have a single-piece internal pot provided with an internal radial protrusion and to optimize the contact surface between the sealing ring and the radial protrusion in order to ensure sealing by axial contact between the lower face of the cover, the sealing ring and the internal radial protrusion.
[0017] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the internal radial protrusion is positioned, along the central axis, between a bottom of the internal pot and a water inlet zone of the pouring spout.
[0018] Such an arrangement makes it possible to guarantee the seal with the exterior of the internal pot and to prevent water from escaping via the spout in the event of the kettle tipping / falling.
[0019] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the lid comprises a pouring conduit configured to convey water contained in the internal volume to the water inlet area of the pouring spout and the kettle further comprises a shutter movably mounted on the lid between a closed position in which the shutter closes the pouring conduit and prevents water from flowing through the pouring conduit, and an open position in which the shutter releases the pouring conduit and allows water to flow through the pouring conduit.
[0020] Such an arrangement makes it possible to guarantee the seal with the exterior of the internal pot when the lid closes the container and to allow the passage of water towards the pouring spout when the user commands the movement of the shutter towards the open position.
[0021] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the kettle comprises a first O-ring positioned in a groove formed on an external peripheral face of the sealing ring, the first O-ring being positioned between the sealing ring and an internal face of the internal pot.
[0022] The first O-ring ensures the seal between the sealing ring and the inner face of the inner pot.
[0023] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the sealing ring comprises an axial protrusion for indexing the lid suitable for being received at least partially in a corresponding indexing housing formed on an outer peripheral face of the lid when the lid closes the container.
[0024] Such an arrangement makes it possible to ensure correct positioning of the lid on the kettle by the user and guidance of the lid to its closed position.
[0025] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the sealing ring comprises a radial projection oriented towards the outside of the container and received in an orifice formed through the internal pot.
[0026] Such an arrangement makes it possible to ensure the sealing ring is secured to the internal pot.
[0027] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the lid comprises on a periphery of the lower face a sealing gasket capable of coming into axial contact with the sealing ring when the lid closes the container.
[0028] Such an arrangement makes it possible to ensure an optimized seal between the cover and the sealing ring.
[0029] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the sealing ring comprises an annular portion forming a seal bearing axially and radially on an inner face of the inner pot and in particular on the inner radial protrusion, and the annular portion comprises at least one axial projection, preferably several axial projections extending towards a bottom of the inner pot and forming at least one element for attaching the sealing ring to the inner radial protrusion.
[0030] Such an arrangement makes it possible to ensure the sealing ring is secured to the internal pot and to guarantee good sealing between the sealing ring and the inner face of the internal pot.
[0031] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the kettle comprises a steam discharge circuit configured to convey, outside the internal volume, steam generated in the internal volume during boiling of the water contained in the internal volume, the steam discharge circuit comprising: • a first steam inlet and a second steam inlet which are provided on the lid and which open into the lower face of the lid and close to a peripheral edge of the lower face of the lid, the first and second steam inlets being configured to be fluidically connected to the internal volume delimited by the container, and to be arranged on either side of a median vertical plane of the kettle which passes through the pouring spout and the gripping handle, and • an internal chamber delimited by the cover, and a first steam flow tube comprising a first steam inlet opening fluidly connected to the first steam inlet port and a first steam outlet opening opening into the internal chamber, and a second steam flow tube comprising a second steam inlet opening fluidly connected to the second steam inlet port and a second steam outlet opening opening into the internal chamber.
[0032] Such a configuration of the kettle reduces the risk of boiling water flowing into the lid, and therefore out of the kettle via the first or second steam outlet and the spout, particularly when the kettle is tipped on its side. Brief description of the figures

[0042] Only the elements necessary for understanding the invention have been shown. To facilitate reading of the drawings, the same elements bear the same references from one figure to another.
[0043] It will be noted that in this document, the terms “horizontal”, “vertical”, “lower”, “upper”, “high”, “low”, “front”, “rear”, “longitudinal”, “transverse”, used to describe the kettle refer to this device in use, when it rests flat on a work surface or on its power supply base.
[0044] Furthermore, the terms “upstream” and “downstream” or “inlet” and “outlet” are defined according to the direction of circulation of the water or steam in the kettle.
[0045] The terms "external" and "internal" as well as the terms "exterior" and "interior" are defined in relation to a central axis of the kettle and its container suitable for receiving water. Thus an internal portion / part will be closer to the central axis than an external portion / part.
[0046] Figures 1 and 2 show a kettle 2, and in particular an electric kettle, according to one embodiment of the invention.
[0047] The kettle 2 comprises a support base 3, also called a power base, configured to be electrically powered by a power cord (visible in FIGS. 1, 2, 4), and a container 4 configured to rest on the support base 3.
[0048] The container 4 delimits an internal volume 6 intended to contain water and in which the water is intended to be heated and in particular brought to a boil.
[0049] The container 4 comprises an external covering 8 forming an external wall of the kettle and an internal pot 10 forming an internal wall of the kettle.
[0050] The kettle 2 further comprises a gripping handle 12 fixed to the container 4, and a pouring spout 14 located opposite the gripping handle 12 relative to a central axis A of the container 4. The pouring spout 14 may for example be located at an upper filling opening 16 of the container 4.
[0051] The upper filling opening 16 is also called the access opening 16 to the internal volume 6.
[0052] The central axis A of the container 4 is configured to extend substantially vertically when the container 4 rests on a horizontal surface. Advantageously, the container 4 has a general shape of revolution around the central axis A.
[0053] The kettle 2 also comprises a heating base 20 located under the internal volume 6 and in particular under the internal pot 10. The heating base 20 is configured to heat the water contained in the internal volume 6. In a known manner, the heating base 20 houses an electrical heating element 22 configured to be electrically powered when the container 4 rests on the power supply base 3.
[0054] The kettle 2 further comprises a cover 24 configured to close the container 4 and provided with a lower face 26 configured to be located opposite the internal volume 6 of the container 4.
[0055] The kettle 2 further comprises a shutter 27 mounted to move between a position for authorizing the circulation of water from the internal volume 6 towards the pouring spout 14, called the open position, and a position for blocking the circulation of water towards the pouring spout 14, called the closed position.
[0056] The kettle also comprises a fixing device 28 configured to removably fix, i.e. temporarily and reversibly, the cover 24 to the container 4.
[0057] The kettle 2 also comprises a sealing ring 30 suitable for being fixed to the container 4 and intended to be in sealed contact with the lower face 26 of the cover 24 when the cover closes the container 4. The sealing ring 30 is advantageously made of plastic material.
[0058] As shown in [Fig.2], the kettle also comprises a luminous display member 32 positioned between the external covering 8 and the internal pot 10. The display member 32 is capable of displaying in particular the temperature of the water contained in the container 4 as well as advantageously a heating mode selected by the user. The luminous display member 32 is capable of being supplied with electrical energy via the power supply base 3.
[0059] As shown in [Fig.3], the external cladding 8 and the internal pot 10 have a common upper edge 8A, 10A defining at least partially an outline of the access opening 16 to the internal volume 6.
[0060] Common upper edge means that the upper edge 10A of the internal pot 10 is in contact with the upper edge 8A of the external covering 8.
[0061] The external covering 8 is preferably made of plastic material while the internal pot 10 is preferably made of stainless steel.
[0062] Such an arrangement makes it possible to have an internal pot entirely made of stainless steel up to the top of the kettle, which makes it possible to limit contact of the water with plastic parts.
[0063] The internal pot 10 forms the internal volume 6 intended to contain water.
[0064] the inner pot 10 comprises an inner radial protrusion 34. The inner radial protrusion 34 is formed by a rib formed on an inner face 36 of the inner pot 10. The rib is preferably obtained by stamping the inner pot 10.
[0065] Advantageously and as shown in the figures, the internal radial protrusion 34 extends over the entire internal circumference of the internal pot 10.
[0066] As visible in [Fig.4], the internal radial protrusion 34 is positioned, along the central axis A, between a bottom 37 of the internal pot 10 and a water inlet zone 38 of the pouring spout 14.
[0067] The sealing ring 30 is suitable for being fixed to the internal pot 10 and is received / arranged on the internal radial protrusion 34.
[0068] Having an internal radial protrusion 34 formed by modifying the shape of the internal pot 10 makes it possible to avoid adding an additional part on the internal pot to receive the sealing ring 30 and therefore to simplify the structure of the kettle 2. In addition, this makes it possible to avoid welding operations which are complex and present a risk of oxidation of the steel linked to the welding.
[0069] The lower face 26 of the cover 24 is suitable for coming into axial contact with the sealing ring 30 when the cover closes the container 4 to ensure a seal between the internal volume 6 and the exterior of the kettle 2.
[0070] As visible in Figures 4 to 6, the sealing ring 30 comprises an annular portion 30A forming a seal bearing axially and radially on the inner face 36 of the internal pot 10 and in particular on the inner radial protrusion 34. Advantageously, the annular portion 30A is in axial and radial contact with the inner face 36 and in particular with the inner radial protrusion 34.
[0071] The sealing ring 30 also comprises an axial protrusion 30B for indexing the cover 24.
[0072] The annular portion 30A comprises at least one axial projection 40, preferably several axial projections 40 extending towards the bottom 37 of the internal pot 10 and forming at least one element for attaching the sealing ring 30 to the internal radial protrusion 34.
[0073] Advantageously, the at least one attachment element is capable of being fixed to the internal radial protrusion 34 by shape cooperation and in particular by clipping.
[0074] As a variant, the axial projections shown in Figures 5 and 6 are replaced by a single axial projection forming a continuous attachment element on the external periphery of the sealing ring 30 capable of cooperating with the radial protrusion in inner face 34 over its entire perimeter. Such a configuration makes it possible to guarantee the fixing of the sealing ring 30 to the internal pot and in particular to the internal radial protrusion 34 and to optimize the sealing between the sealing ring and the inner face 36, the axial projection ensuring both a hooking function and a sealing function.
[0075] The kettle 2 comprises a first O-ring 42 ([Fig.3]) positioned in a groove 44 formed on an external peripheral face 46 of the sealing ring 30, in particular at the level of the annular portion 30A. The groove 44 is positioned above the axial projections 40 along the central axis A.
[0076] The first O-ring 42 is positioned between the sealing ring 30 and the inner face 36 of the internal pot 10. More precisely, the first O-ring 42 is positioned along the central axis A between the sealing ring 30 and the inner face 36 of the internal pot 10 and is in axial contact / support with the inner radial protrusion 34.
[0077] Alternatively, the O-ring 42 is in radial contact / support with the inner face 36 and is not in contact with the inner radial protrusion 34. The sealing ring 30 then ensures axial contact with the inner radial protrusion 34.
[0078] The axial indexing prominence 30B of the cover 24 forms an angular indexing device, also called a keying device, configured to define a single position for fixing the cover 24 on the container 4.
[0079] As shown in [Fig.5], the axial protrusion 30B is suitable for being received at least partially in a corresponding indexing housing 48 formed on an outer peripheral face 50 of the cover 24 when the cover 24 comes to close the container 4.
[0080] The sealing ring 30 also comprises a radial projection 52 oriented towards the outside of the container 4 and received in an orifice 54 formed through the internal pot 10.
[0081] The radial projection 52 is preferably formed on the axial protrusion 30B.
[0082] The sealing ring 30 includes a second O-ring 56 surrounding the orifice 54 when the sealing ring 30 is attached to the inner pot. The second O-ring 56 is received in a housing 58 formed on the outer peripheral face 46 of the sealing ring 30 at the axial protrusion 30B.
[0083] According to the embodiment shown, the cover 24 comprises on an outer contour, that is to say on its outer peripheral face 50, a seal 59 capable of coming into axial contact with the sealing ring 30 when the cover 24 closes the container 4. The seal 59 is positioned on the periphery of the lower face 26 of the cover 24 and is capable of ensuring sealed contact with the sealing ring 30 when the cover 24 is in the closed position on the container 4.
[0084] Advantageously, as shown in [Fig.3], the seal 59 is formed by two concentric joints 59A, 59B assembled with each other.
[0085] The cover 24 comprises a pouring conduit 60 configured to convey water contained in the internal volume 6 towards the water inlet zone 38 of the pouring spout 14.
[0086] The pouring conduit 60 more particularly comprises a water inlet opening 62 opening into the lower face 26 of the cover 24, and a water outlet opening 64 opening into the outer peripheral face 50 of the cover 24 and intended to be located substantially opposite the pouring spout 14 when the cover 24 is fixed to the container 4. More precisely, the water outlet opening 64 is suitable for being positioned opposite an opening 65 passing through the internal pot when the cover 24 is fixed to the container 4, said opening 65 itself being located opposite the pouring spout and in particular the water inlet zone 38 of the pouring spout 14.
[0087] The shutter 27 is mounted movably on the cover 24 between a closed position in which the shutter closes the pouring conduit 60 and prevents a flow of water contained in the internal volume 6 through the pouring conduit 60, and an open position in which the shutter 27 releases the pouring conduit 60 and allows a flow of water through the pouring conduit 60.
[0088] The shutter 27 is for example a bistable button of the ballpoint pen actuating button type.
[0089] The fixing device 28 comprises two fixing members 66, such as fixing fingers, provided on the cover 24 and diametrically opposite. Each fixing member 66 is housed in the cover 24 and is configured to project out of the cover 24 through a respective through opening 68 which opens into the outer peripheral face 50 of the cover 24.
[0090] In the example shown, the fixing device 28 comprises fixing housings 70 arranged in the container 4 and in particular in the internal pot 10 and configured to respectively house the fixing members 66 when the cover 24 is in the closed position on the container 4.
[0091] The fixing members 66 are slidably mounted relative to the cover 24 in a sliding direction and between a fixing position in which each fixing member 66 is configured to cooperate with its respective fixing housing 70 so as to fix the cover 24 to the container 4, and a release position in which each fixing member 66 is configured to release the respective fixing housing 70 so that the cover 24 can be removed from the container 4. Advantageously, the sliding direction extends substantially radially relative to a central axis of the cover 24 which coincides with the central axis A of the container 4 when the cover 24 is positioned on the container 4.
[0092] The fixing device 28 comprises a return member 72 housed in the cover 24 and configured to return the fastening members 66 to the fastening position.
[0093] The kettle 2 comprises an actuating mechanism 74 provided on the cover 24 and configured to move the fastening members 66 into the release position when the actuating mechanism 74 is actuated by a user.
[0094] The kettle 2 also comprises a steam discharge circuit configured to convey, outside the internal volume 6 and for example towards the outside of the kettle 2, steam generated in the internal volume 6 during boiling of the water contained in the internal volume 6.
[0095] The steam discharge circuit comprises in particular a first steam inlet orifice 80 and a second steam inlet orifice 82 which are provided on the cover 24 and which open into the lower face 26 of the cover 24 and close to a peripheral edge of the lower face 26 of the cover 24. When the cover 24 is fixed to the container 4 and the latter rests on a horizontal surface, the first and second steam inlet orifices 80, 82 open into the internal volume 6 delimited by the container 4 and above a maximum filling level of the container 4.
[0096] According to the embodiment shown, the first 80 and second 82 steam inlet orifices 33, 34 are arranged on either side of a median vertical plane P of the kettle 2, visible in [Fig.l], which passes through the pouring spout 14 and the gripping handle 12, and are advantageously arranged symmetrically with respect to the median vertical plane P of the kettle 2.
[0097] According to the embodiment shown, the first 80 and second 82 steam inlet ports 33, 34 are located in a front half of the lower face 26 of the cover 24.
[0098] As shown more particularly in [Fig. 8], the steam discharge circuit also comprises a first steam flow tube 84 comprising a first steam inlet opening fluidly connected to the first steam inlet orifice 80 and a first steam outlet opening 86 opening into an internal chamber 88 delimited by the cover 24, and a second steam flow tube 90 comprising a second steam inlet opening fluidly connected to the second steam inlet orifice 82 and a second steam outlet opening 92 opening into the internal chamber 88. Advantageously, the first and second steam flow tubes 84, 90 are housed in the internal chamber 88, and each have a cross-section which is circular.Advantageously, each of the first and second steam flow tubes 84, 90 has a passage section which is substantially constant along its length.
[0099] The first and second steam outlet openings 86, 92 are more particu ly configured to be arranged on either side of the median vertical plane P of the kettle 2, and advantageously to be arranged symmetrically with respect to the median vertical plane P of the kettle 2. According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the first and second steam outlet openings 86, 92 are located in a front part of the internal chamber 88, and are configured to be oriented towards the pouring spout 14.
[0100] According to the embodiment shown in [Fig.8], each of the first and second steam flow tubes 84, 90 has a general V shape.
[0101] The first steam flow tube 84 is configured to be inclined relative to the horizontal when the container 4 rests on a horizontal surface, so as to guide water contained in the first steam flow tube 84 towards the first steam inlet orifice 80, and the second steam flow tube 90 is configured to be inclined relative to the horizontal when the container 4 rests on a horizontal surface, so as to guide water contained in the second steam flow tube 90 towards the second steam inlet orifice 82. These arrangements limit the risks of water accumulation and water stagnation in the cover 24.
[0102] The steam discharge circuit further comprises several steam discharge openings 94 provided on the cover 24 and fluidly connected to the internal chamber 88 delimited by the cover 24. The steam discharge openings 94 are configured to allow discharge of the steam contained in the internal chamber 88 to the outside of the kettle 2, in particular via the opening 65 and the pouring spout 14.
[0103] More precisely, the steam discharge openings 94 open into the outer peripheral face 50, and are located close to the water outlet opening 64. The steam discharge openings 94 are therefore configured to be located close to the pouring spout 14, and for example to be located opposite the pouring spout 14, when the lid 24 is fixed to the container 4.
[0104] Kettle 2 is configured:
[0105] - such that, when the kettle 2 is overturned and the handle of grip 12 and a first lateral side, namely the left side, of the container 4 rest stably on a horizontal surface, the first steam inlet orifice 80 is located above the water level in the internal volume 6, and
[0106] - such that, when the kettle 2 is overturned and the handle of gripping 12 and a second lateral side, namely the right side, of the container 4 rest stably on a horizontal surface, the second steam inlet orifice 82 is located above the water level in the internal volume 6.
[0107] Such positioning of the first and second steam inlet ports 80, 82 allows the latter to be moved as far away as possible from the water level when the kettle 2 is tilted and the gripping handle 12 and a lateral side of the container 4 rest, for example, on a work surface. Thus, the kettle 2 according to the present invention makes it possible to avoid or at least considerably limit the risks of boiling water flowing out of the kettle 2 in the event of the latter being overturned.
[0108] Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and illustrated, which has been given only as an example. Modifications remain possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
