Description

Title of the invention: air circulation device

[0001] The present invention relates to an air circulation device at least partially insertable through an opening called a hole provided on a wall, such as a wall of a chimney hood.

[0002] It relates in particular to an air circulation device comprising a pre-frame with a front face and a rear face and an observation screen, said pre-frame delimiting an opening bordered on the front face side by an external peripheral rim intended to come to bear on the edges of the hole in the wall in the partially inserted state of the device in said hole in the wall, and the screen being shaped and sized to be able to pass through the opening of the pre-frame.

[0003] The regulations require for any wood-burning heating appliance, such as a fireplace, an insert, in the case of a closed fireplace, an air circulation device for the casing. This air circulation device is necessary to avoid any problem of overpressure and overheating inside the casing, such as the chimney hood. Such an air circulation device can therefore be installed on a fresh air inlet and a hot air outlet of the casing. The applications of such an air circulation device can be diverse. Thus, in the case of an application to a chimney hood, such an air circulation device can be used for the purpose of diffusing hot air, for convection purposes with a view to supplying air around the fireplace or for the purpose of decompression of the chimney hood. For a long time, such air circulation devices were simply presented in the form of a grille mounted inside a frame which was fitted into a hole in the formwork. In recent years, air circulation devices have evolved to improve the aesthetics of these devices as illustrated by patents FR 2 762 896 or FR 3 055 405. However, the two roles of such an air circulation device, namely: . - close the hole made in the wall of the hood in order to prevent a person, placed opposite the said opening, from being able to see inside the hood beyond the air circulation device and from introducing anything into it and - having a surface area that allows for an air flow rate as close as possible to that which would have been obtained in the case of a free or widely open hole are difficult to fulfill simultaneously because they appear to be contradictory. Manufacturers of such air circulation devices are therefore constantly looking for new designs to optimize the two roles of the air circulation device as described above.

[0004] An object of the invention is to propose an air circulation device of the aforementioned type. whose design allows for a complete anti-vision function to be ensured, regardless of the viewing angle of an observer placed in front of the air circulation device, while ensuring maximum air flow without increasing the dimensions of the hole required for installing the air circulation device.

[0005] For this purpose, the invention relates to an air circulation device at least partially insertable through an opening called a hole made on a wall, such as a wall of a chimney hood, said device comprising a pre-frame with a front face and a rear face and an observation screen, said pre-frame delimiting an opening bordered on the front face side by an external peripheral rim intended to come to bear on the edges of the hole in the wall in the partially inserted state of the device in said hole in the wall, and the screen being shaped and dimensioned to be able to pass through the opening of the pre-frame, characterized in that the device comprises a frame intended to extend on the rear face side of the pre-frame and to be carried by the pre-frame, in that the frame has, in the state carried by the pre-frame, an internal perimeter at least locally greater than the perimeter of the opening delimited by the pre-frame,in that at least one part of the frame used to delimit the perimeter of the frame is formed by at least one insert, in that the or each insert is shaped and sized to be able to pass through the opening of the pre-frame, in that the screen is positionable inside the frame, in that the device comprises, in the positioned state of the screen in the frame, at least one air passage arranged inside the frame between an edge of the screen and a part of the frame surrounding said screen and in that a face of the frame opposite that facing the pre-frame and forming the back of the frame is a partially closed face cooperating with the screen and at least the part of the frame surrounding the screen to form a barrier to vision beyond the frame for an observer positioned in front of the pre-frame. The presence of a frame, inside which the screen is arranged, with an internal perimeter locally greater than the pre-frame makes it possible to provide inside the frame,at the screen, at least one large-section air passage allowing a significant air flow without impairing the vision barrier function of the frame in cooperation with the screen with regard to an observer positioned in front of the front face of the pre-frame. The design of the air circulation device makes it possible to limit the depth of the device and to position the screen at a short distance from the pre-frame. The design of the air circulation device also allows simple and rapid assembly of the air circulation device, this assembly being able to be carried out without tools.

[0006] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partially closed face forming the back of the frame delimits a window whose opening surface is substantially equal to the surface of the screen. By substantially, we mean equal to within ± 15%.

[0007] According to one embodiment of the invention, the partially closed face forming the The back of the frame delimits a window whose opening surface is at most equal to 1.2 times the surface of the screen.

[0008] According to one embodiment of the invention, the pre-frame is a quadrangular pre-frame with four sides, the frame comprises at least two flanges arranged in the extension of two opposite sides of the pre-frame and the or at least one of the added parts is in the form of a hollow body which can be coupled to the flanges and which forms, in the state coupled to the flanges, a connecting bridge between the flanges, said hollow body having, in the state coupled to the flanges, a cavity open at least towards the inside of the frame. Alternatively, each flange of the frame can be made in the form of a piece which can be assembled with the side of the pre-frame in the extension of which it is arranged.

[0010] According to one embodiment of the invention, the hollow body is a polygonal body of parallelepiped shape open on at least one or two faces.

[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, the hollow body, which has a cavity, is provided with at least one continuous or discontinuous external peripheral wing bordering the opening of the cavity, the or one of the wings being positioned in application on one side of the pre-frame in the coupled state of the hollow body to the flanges. [0026] [Fig. 10] represents a partially perspective view of an air circulation device according to the invention.

[0027] As mentioned above, the air circulation device 1, object of the invention, is more particularly intended to be inserted, at least partially, inside an opening called here a hole 32 made in a wall 31, such as the wall 31 of a hood or a chest of a fireplace, preferably with a closed hearth or insert, as illustrated in [Fig.l], for example, for decompression of the hood or diffusion of hot air.

[0028] Obviously, such an air circulation device 1 can be partially inserted into the opening made in the wall of other types of construction and installation without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0029] In the example shown, the hole 32 is rectangular in shape and made in the wall 31 intended to form the front wall of the hood.

[0030] The air circulation device 1 comprises a pre-frame 2, a screen 7 for observation and a frame 8. The pre-frame 2 comprises a front face 3 and a rear face 4 opposite each other. The pre-frame 2 delimits an opening 5 bordered, at the level of the front face 3, that is to say on the front face 3 side of the pre-frame 2, by an external peripheral rim 6. The pre-frame 2 is a quadrangular pre-frame with four sides 14.

[0031] The opening 5 of the pre-frame 2 is of generally quadrangular shape. The external peripheral rim 6 allows said pre-frame 2, when the pre-frame 2 is introduced by its rear face 4 into the hole 32 of the hood wall 31, to come to bear by said external peripheral rim 6 against the edges of the hole 32 of the wall 31 on the external face side of said wall 31. Thus, the edges of the hole 32 of the wall 31 are masked by the external peripheral rim 6 of the pre-frame 2.

[0032] The pre-frame 2 is a relatively thick frame, generally made of metal. The frame 8 of the air circulation device 1 is intended to extend on the rear face 4 side of the pre-frame 2. This frame 8 is intended to be carried by the pre-frame 2. At least a portion of this frame 8 may be made in one piece with the pre-frame 2, as is the case in the examples shown. Alternatively, this portion of the frame 8 may be formed from parts assembled to the pre-frame 2.

[0033] As can be seen in Figures 7 and 10 for example, the frame 8 comprises two flanges 13 arranged in the extension of two opposite sides 14 of the pre-frame 2. Each flange 13 here forms a part of a lateral edge of the frame 4. Each flange 13 is made in a single piece with one side of the pre-frame 2. In addition to these two flanges 13, the frame 8 comprises, for the production of its periphery, at least one added piece 9.

[0034] In the example shown in the figures, two added pieces 9 are provided, each forming at least one lateral side of the frame 8, said lateral sides of the frame 8 being opposite. Each added piece 9 forms, in addition to one lateral side of the frame, at least a part of the face of the frame 8 opposite that facing the pre-frame 2 and forming the back 11 of the frame and a part of the lateral sides of the frame 3, the other part of which is formed by the flange 13. Thus, as illustrated for example in [Fig. 2], each piece 9 reported is in the form of a hollow body 91 fitted to the flange 13 and forming, in the state coupled to the flange 13, a connecting bridge between the flanges 13. Said hollow body 91 has, in the state coupled to the flanges 13, a cavity 911 open at least towards the inside of the frame 8.

[0035] Alternatively, one of the added parts 9 could have been formed by a flange.

[0036] The hollow body 91 is a polygonal body of parallelepiped shape open on at at least one or two faces. This body 91 therefore has four lateral faces, namely two longitudinal lateral faces and two transverse lateral faces, a so-called external face surrounded by the lateral faces and a so-called open internal face, also surrounded by said lateral faces. When the hollow body 91 has one open face, it is the internal face which is open. When the hollow body has two open faces, it is the internal face and a so-called longitudinal lateral face which are open. When the hollow body 91 is open on two faces, as illustrated in [Fig. 10], the so-called front face of the frame 3 opposite the pre-frame 2 is entirely open. When the hollow body 91 is open on only one face, that is to say the internal face, as illustrated for example in [Fig.9], the so-called front face of the frame 3 opposite the pre-frame 2 is partially closed by a longitudinal lateral face of each hollow body 91.The face forming the back 11 of the frame 3 is, as mentioned above, a partially closed face with the closed parts of said face formed by a longitudinal lateral face of each added piece 9. Two of the lateral sides of the frame 3 are each formed by a flange 13 and two transverse lateral faces respectively extend two opposite sides of the flange, said lateral faces forming one, a transverse lateral face of the body 91 constituting one of the added pieces 9, the other, a transverse lateral face of the body 91 constituting the other of the added pieces 9.

[0037] Generally, the partially closed face forming the back 11 of the frame 8 delimits a window 12 whose opening surface is substantially equal to the surface of the screen 7 and at most equal to 1.2 times the surface of the screen 7. The internal surface, that is to say facing the inside of the frame 3 of the external faces opposite the bodies 91 delimits, with the flanges 13 and the transverse lateral faces of the bodies 91, the internal perimeter of the frame 3. This internal perimeter of the frame 8 is at least locally, in particular at the level of the zone of the frame 8 surrounding the screen 7, greater than the perimeter of the opening 5 delimited by the pre-frame 2. This dimension of the frame 8 relative to the pre-frame 2 makes it possible to provide one or more air passages 10 of significant dimension, as will be described below. Generally, the inner perimeter of the frame 8 is at least locally equal to at least 0.5 times the perimeter of the opening 5 delimited by the pre-frame 2.

[0038] To allow the frame 8 to be mounted behind the pre-frame 2 with dimensions of the frame 8 greater than those of the pre-frame 2, each added part 9 is shaped and sized to be able to pass through the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2.

[0039] The assembly of each added part 9 may be diverse and varied. Thus, each added part 9 may, in the added state, be coupled to a part of the frame 8 or the pre-frame 2 by snap-fastening. Alternatively or additionally, each added part 9 may, in the added state, be coupled to a part of the frame 8 or the pre-frame 2 by screwing.

[0040] To assist in the assembly of the or each added part 9, the hollow body 91 constituting said added part 9 may be provided with at least one continuous or discontinuous external peripheral wing 15 bordering the opening of the cavity 911. The or one of the wings 15 is positioned in application on one side 14 of the pre-frame 2 in the coupled state of the hollow body 91 to the flanges 13.

[0041] In addition, the hollow body 91 may be provided with a second continuous or discontinuous external peripheral wing 15 bordering the opening of the cavity and extending parallel to the first wing 15.

[0042] An example of mounting a hollow body 91 by screwing is illustrated in [Fig. 6]. In this embodiment, the hollow body 91 comprises a discontinuous wing 15 bordering the longitudinal lateral face of the hollow body 91 participating in the production of the front face of the frame 3. This discontinuity of the wing 15 thus makes it possible to provide two tabs intended to be applied to the external surface of one side of the pre-frame 2, namely the lower side or the upper side 14 of the pre-frame 2 in the example of [Fig. 2].

[0043] This hollow body 91 also comprises two hooks 16, originating on the longitudinal lateral face of the hollow body opposite that provided with the wing 15 positionable in application on one side of the pre-frame 2, and open in the direction of the longitudinal lateral face of the hollow body 91 provided with the wing 15 positionable in application on one side of the pre-frame 2 by providing a slot. Each flange 13 comprises a finger 17 provided with a nut 18, such as a wing nut. In the positioned state of the hollow body 91 partially between the flanges 13, after passing through the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2, as illustrated in the first view of [Fig.6], each hook 16 of the hollow body 91 comes by the edges of its slot to partially surround a finger 17 of a flange 13 around which it can pivot until coming into a position in which the wing 15 or a wing 15 of the hollow body 91 extends parallel to one side of the pre-frame and orthogonally to the plane of the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2.The hollow body 91 is then translated towards the pre-frame until the wing 15 or one of the wings 15 can be positioned in application on the external surface of one side of the pre-frame 2. In this position, the nut 18 can be tightened and the assembly of the insert 9 can be completed. Obviously, this operating mode is repeated for each insert 9. As illustrated in [Fig.7] which represents the assembly of an insert 9 intended to form the lower edge of the frame 8 while the insert 9 of [Fig.6] is intended to form the upper edge of the frame 8.

[0044] [Fig.9] illustrates a snap-on coupling of a part 9 attached to the frame 8. In this embodiment, each flange 13 of the frame 8 is provided with tabs extending inside the frame 8. Each tab is provided with an elastically deformable housing 19 inside which a stud 20, carried by one of the wings 15 of the added part 9, can be inserted. Similarly, one side of the pre-frame 2 is equipped with elastically deformable housings 19 inside which studs 20 carried by one of the wings 15 of the added part 9 can be inserted by snap-fastening.

[0045] The assembly is carried out in a similar manner to that described above for assembly by screwing, namely that the added part 9 is introduced through the opening of the pre-frame 2 and brought into a position in which the housings 19 extend opposite the studs 20, then the added part 9 is moved in the direction of insertion of the studs 20 into the housings 19. The assembly of an added part 9 is completed.

[0046] In the assembled state, the frame 8 is at least locally of perimeter dimension greater than the opening of the pre-frame 2, as mentioned above. In practice, the frame 8 has an internal perimeter. It should be noted that before the assembly of each insert 9, to allow the pre-frame 2 to be maintained in the partially inserted state in the hole 32 of the hood wall 31 in a position in which the external peripheral edge 6 of the pre-frame 2 is pressed against the edge of the hole 32 of the hood wall 31, the frame 3 is provided, on the external face side of the flanges 13, with movable members 23, namely two flanges 13. Each movable member 23 forms, with the external peripheral edge 6 of the pre-frame 2, the respectively movable and fixed jaws of a jaw between which a part of the wall 31 of the hood surrounding the hole 32 of the hood wall 31 is capable of being inserted. Each movable member 23 is here produced in the form of a flat pivoting lever pivotally mounted around an axis substantially parallel to the plane of the opening of the pre-frame 2. Due to the flatness of the lever, the size of the latter is reduced. Each movable member is here articulated, pivoting on the external surface of a flange 13 of the frame 8. Each pivoting lever is provided with an eccentric forming a cam. The external profile of the cam can be provided with notches which facilitate the maintenance of the lever in contact with the wall 31. Each lever is provided with an actuating member 24 extending projecting inside the frame 8. It is thus sufficient, in the positioned state of the pre-frame 2 in the hole 32 with the external peripheral rim 6 of the pre-frame 2 resting on the edges of the hole 32, on the visible face side of the hole 32, to act on these actuating members 24 by simple pressure, as illustrated in [Fig.5], to generate the movement of the pivoting levers in the direction of bringing the jaws together, as illustrated in [Fig.4], thus ensuring that the pre-frame 2 and consequently the associated frame 8 are held in position.

[0047] The air circulation device 1 further comprises, as mentioned above, a screen 7 positionable inside the frame 8 at the area of the frame 8 having an inner perimeter greater than the perimeter of the opening 5 delimited by the pre-frame 2. In the positioned state of the screen 7 in the frame 8, the device 1 comprises at least one air passage 10 arranged inside the frame 8 between an edge of the screen 7 and a part of the frame 8 surrounding said screen 7. This part of the frame 8 is here formed by the or one of the added parts 9. Ideally, this part of the frame 8 corresponds to the part of the frame 8 where the inner perimeter of the frame 8 is the largest. This air passage is visible in [Fig.3]. This air passage 10 extends at the cavity 911 of the hollow body 91 of each added part 9. The cooperation of the screen 9 with the frame 8 makes it possible to form a barrier to vision beyond the frame 8 for an observer positioned in front of the pre-frame 2, as is again visible in [Fig.3].

[0048] In the examples shown, the screen 7 has the shape of a plate that can be coupled to the frame 8. The screen 7 comprises, for its coupling to the frame 8, at least two tabs 21 positioned on two opposite edges of the screen 7 and each able to be inserted into a housing 22 provided in the frame 8, preferably at the level of the flanges 13 of the frame 8. The assembly of the screen, which is carried out last, is illustrated in [Fig. 8]. It is thus sufficient to insert the screen at an angle through the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2, to fit one side of said screen 7 into a flange 13 of the frame 8, to bend the screen 7 and then to fit the other side of said screen 7 into the other flange 13 of the frame 8. The assembly of the screen is complete.

[0049] The air circulation device 1 may also comprise a nozzle holder plate 25 which can be positioned on the rear face side forming the back 11 of the frame 8, this nozzle holder plate 25 being removably mounted on said frame 8. This plate 25 may comprise one or more nozzles. In the example shown, it comprises several. Each nozzle is formed by a shouldered opening made in the plate, the shoulder allowing the nozzle to be connected to an air circulation duct housed inside the chimney hood 30.

[0050] In practice, the assembly of the air circulation device 1 is always carried out in the same way and comprises, the assembly of the pre-frame 2 through the hole 32 of the wall 31 and its holding in position by actuation of the movable members 23, the introduction through the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2 of an added part, the coupling of this added part 9 to the frame and / or to the pre-frame, the repetition of this operation, when the air circulation device 1 comprises several added parts, the introduction through the opening 5 of the pre-frame 2 of the screen 7 and the fixing of the screen 7 to the frame 8 in a position in which it cooperates with the frame 8 and in particular the face forming the back 11 of the frame 8 and the periphery of the frame 8 to form a barrier to vision beyond the frame 8 for an observer positioned in front of the pre-frame 2. The screen 7 thus prevents a range of vision of an observer positioned in front of the front face of the pre-frame beyond the frame 8. Thus, the air passage 10 is optimized, as illustrated in [Fig.3], and the view of the interior of the hood beyond the frame 8 is completely prevented. It should be noted that, ideally, in the case of two inserts 9, these two inserts 9 are identical.
