Description

Title of the invention: Air guide and cooling module for a motor vehicle

[0001] The present invention relates to an air guide, in particular an air guide within a cooling module for an electric or hybrid motor vehicle, with a tangential turbomachine.

[0002] A cooling module (or heat exchange module) of a motor vehicle conventionally comprises at least one heat exchanger arranged within the air guide and a ventilation device adapted to generate an air flow in contact with the at least one heat exchanger. The ventilation device thus makes it possible, for example, to generate an air flow in contact with the heat exchanger, when the vehicle is stationary or at low driving speed.

[0003] In motor vehicles with a conventional thermal engine, the at least one heat exchanger is substantially square in shape, the ventilation device then being a propeller fan whose diameter is substantially equal to the side of the square formed by the heat exchanger.

[0004] Openings are generally made in the walls of the air guide in order to insert the heat exchanger and leave accessible the heat transfer fluid inlets and outlets which will be connected to a thermal management circuit. This step of installing and integrating the heat exchanger can nevertheless be complicated and tedious. In addition, such a method generally involves an additional step of cutting the openings which increases the costs. The sealing, in particular airtightness at these openings may also not be optimal and thus lead to losses of air flow.

[0005] The aim of the present invention is therefore to remedy at least partially the drawbacks of the prior art and to propose an air guide, in particular for a cooling module, which is improved and allows better integration of a heat exchanger.

[0006] The present invention therefore relates to an air guide for an electric or hybrid motor vehicle, said air guide comprising at least one wall forming a duct within which an air flow is intended to circulate between an air inlet and an air outlet, said air guide comprising at least one heat exchanger, said at least one heat exchanger comprising: - a bundle of tubes comprising a multitude of tubes in which a heat transfer fluid is intended to circulate and arranged spaced apart from each other, the air flow being intended to circulate between said tubes, - a collector box arranged at each end of the bundle of tubes, said collector box comprising a collector plate crossed by the tubes of the bundle of tubes and a cover covering said collector plate so as to form a cavity into which one end of the tubes opens, the cover of the collector box being made of the same material as the at least one wall of the air guide.

[0007] According to one aspect of the invention, the air guide comprises two walls parallel to each other, at least one of said parallel walls comprising at least one manifold box cover.

[0008] According to another aspect of the invention, the air guide according to the preceding claim, characterized in that it comprises two parallel walls each comprising a collector box cover.

[0009] According to another aspect of the invention, the same wall of the air guide comprises two covers of two collector boxes, the bundle of tubes comprising a “U” return bend.

[0010] According to another aspect of the invention, the covers are arranged side by side and have a common rim.

[0011] According to another aspect of the invention, the tubes of the tube bundle are hollow fibers.

[0012] The present invention also relates to a cooling module for an electric or hybrid motor vehicle, said cooling module being intended to be crossed by an air flow, said cooling module comprising an air guide as described previously.

[0013] According to one aspect of the cooling module, the air guide is a first collector housing comprising a tangential turbomachine configured so as to generate the air flow, said tangential turbomachine comprising a volute comprising an air flow outlet.

[0014] According to another aspect of the cooling module, the latter comprises: - a fairing forming an internal channel crossed by the air flow, said fairing comprising at least one heat exchanger, - a first collector housing arranged downstream of the fairing in a longitudinal direction of the cooling module going from the front to the rear of said cooling module, said first collector housing comprising a tangential turbomachine configured so as to generate the air flow, said tangential turbomachine comprising a volute comprising an air flow outlet, at least one of said fairing and first manifold housing being an air guide as previously described.

[0015] According to another aspect of the cooling module, the latter comprises: - a first collector housing comprising a tangential turbomachine configured so as to generate the air flow, said tangential turbomachine comprising a volute comprising an air flow outlet, - a second collector housing arranged upstream of the first collector housing in a longitudinal direction of the cooling module going from the front to the rear of said cooling module, at least one of said first collector housing and second collector housing being an air guide as previously described.

[0016] Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description, provided for illustrative and non-limiting purposes, and the appended drawings in which:

[0025] In the various figures, identical elements bear the same reference numbers.

[0026] The following embodiments are examples. Although the description refers to one or more embodiments, this does not necessarily mean that each reference relates to the same embodiment, or that the features apply only to a single embodiment. Single features of different embodiments may also be combined and / or interchanged to provide other embodiments.

[0027] In the present description, certain elements or parameters may be indexed, such as for example first element or second element as well as first parameter and second parameter or even first criterion and second criterion, etc. In this case, it is a simple indexing to differentiate and name elements or parameters or criteria that are close, but not identical. This indexing does not imply a priority of one element, parameter or criterion over another and such names can easily be interchanged without departing from the scope of this description. This indexing also does not imply an order in time, for example, to assess this or that criterion.

[0028] In the present description, the term "upstream" means that one element is placed before another with respect to the direction of circulation of an air flow. Conversely, the term "downstream" means that one element is placed after another with respect to the direction of circulation of a flow or a fluid.

[0029] In Figures 1 to 4, an XYZ trihedron is shown in order to define the orientation of the different elements relative to each other. A first direction, denoted X, corresponds to a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. It also corresponds to the inverse of the direction of advance of the vehicle. A second direction, denoted Y, is a lateral or transverse direction. Finally, a third direction, denoted Z, is vertical. The directions, X, Y, Z are orthogonal two by two.

[0030] In [Fig. 1], a cooling module comprising an air guide according to the The present invention is illustrated in an operative position, i.e. when the cooling module is arranged within a motor vehicle.

[0031] [Fig.l] schematically illustrates the front part of an electric or hybrid motor vehicle 10 which may include an electric motor 12. The vehicle 10 includes in particular a body 14 and a bumper 16 carried by a chassis (not shown) of the motor vehicle 10. The body 14 defines a cooling bay 18, that is to say an opening through the body 14. The cooling bay 18 is unique here. This cooling bay 18 is preferably located in the lower part of the front face 14a of the bodywork 14. In the example illustrated, the cooling bay 18 is located under the bumper 16. A grille 20 may be arranged in the cooling bay 18 to prevent projectiles from passing through the cooling bay 18. A cooling module 22 is arranged opposite the cooling bay 18. The grille 20 makes it possible in particular to protect this cooling module 22.

[0032] As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the cooling module 22 is intended to be crossed by an air flow F parallel to the direction X and going from the front to the rear of the vehicle 10. This direction X corresponds more particularly to a longitudinal direction X going from the front to the rear of the cooling module 22. In the present application, an element is described as “upstream” or “downstream” according to the longitudinal direction X of the cooling module 22, an element which is respectively arranged further forward or further rearward than another element. The front corresponds to the front of the motor vehicle 10 in the mounted state or the face of the cooling module 22 through which the air flow F is intended to enter the cooling module 22. The rear corresponds to the rear of the motor vehicle 10 or to the face of the cooling module 22 through which the air flow F is intended to exit the cooling module 22.

[0033] The cooling module 22 comprises a housing or fairing 40 forming an air guide. This fairing 40 more particularly forms an internal channel between an upstream end and a downstream end opposite one another. Inside said fairing 40 is arranged at least one heat exchanger 24. This internal channel is preferably oriented parallel to the longitudinal direction X so that the upstream end is oriented towards the front of the vehicle 10 opposite the cooling bay 18 and so that the downstream end is oriented towards the rear of the vehicle 10.

[0034] The at least one heat exchanger 24 may for example be configured to release heat energy within the air flow F. This heat exchanger 24 may more particularly be a condenser connected to a cooling circuit (not shown), for example in order to cool the batteries of the vehicle 10. This cooling circuit may for example be an air conditioning circuit capable of cooling the batteries as well as an internal air flow intended for the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle.

[0035] As illustrated in the sectional view of [Fig.4], the at least one heat exchanger 24 of the fairing 40 more particularly comprises a bundle of tubes 24c comprising a multitude of tubes 24c, in which a heat transfer fluid is intended to circulate. These tubes 24c are arranged spaced apart from each other so that the air flow F can circulate between said tubes 24c.

[0036] The at least one heat exchanger 24 of the fairing 40 also comprises a manifold disposed at each end of the tube bundle 24c. This manifold comprises in particular a manifold plate 24b through which the tubes 24c of the tube bundle 24c pass. The manifold further comprises a cover 24a covering said manifold plate 24b so as to form a cavity into which one end of the tubes 24c opens.

[0037] In order to facilitate the manufacture and assembly of the air guide, the cover 24a of the manifold is made of the same material as the at least one wall of the air guide, here the fairing 40. The integration of the at least one heat exchanger 24 within the air guide is thus improved.

[0038] The air guide and more precisely the fairing 40 may in particular comprise two walls parallel to each other. At least one of said parallel walls then comprises at least one collector box cover 24a. More precisely, the air guide and therefore the fairing 40 may have a quadrilateral section, for example a rectangle.

[0039] According to a first embodiment illustrated in Figures 2 to 4, the air guide 40 may in particular comprise two parallel walls each comprising a collector box cover 24a. The collector boxes then face each other and are arranged on either side of the section of the air guide, here of the fairing 40. In the example illustrated in Figures 2 to 4, the covers 24a are produced on the upper and lower walls of the fairing 40. It is however entirely possible to imagine that the covers 24a are produced on the side walls of the fairing 40.

[0040] According to a second embodiment illustrated in Figures 5 and 6, the same wall of the air guide, here of the fairing 40, comprises two covers 24a of two collector boxes. The bundle of tubes 24c then comprises a “U” return elbow. This elbow is in particular arranged against the wall of the air guide opposite that carrying the covers 24a.

[0041] The covers 24a may in particular be arranged side by side on the same wall. These two covers 24a may be separate (as illustrated in FIGS. 5 and 6) or else joined and have a common rim (not shown). Such a configuration makes it possible in particular to facilitate the connections and the connection of the at least one heat exchanger to a thermal management circuit during assembly.

[0042] In the example illustrated in Figures 5 and 6, the collector boxes each have a dedicated collector plate 24b. However, it is entirely possible to imagine a variant in which the collector plate 24b is common to both collector boxes.

[0043] The cooling module 22 also comprises a first collector housing 41 arranged downstream of the fairing 40 in the direction of circulation of the air flow. This first collector housing 41 also forms an air guide and comprises an outlet 45 for the air flow F. This first collector housing 41 makes it possible to recover the air flow F passing through the fairing 40 and the at least one heat exchanger 24 and to direct this air flow F towards the outlet 45. The first collector housing 41 may be made of the same material as the fairing 40 or be an added part fixed to the downstream end of said fairing 40.

[0044] The cooling module 22, more precisely the first collector housing 41, also comprises at least one tangential fan, also called a tangential turbomachine 30, configured so as to generate the air flow F passing through the cooling module 22. The tangential turbomachine 30 comprises a rotor or turbine 32 (or tangential propeller). The turbine 32 has a substantially cylindrical shape. The turbine 32 advantageously comprises several stages of blades (or vanes), visible in [Fig. 4]. The turbine 32 is rotatably mounted around an axis of rotation A, for example parallel to the direction Y. The diameter of the turbine 32 is for example between 35 mm and 200 mm to limit its size. The turbomachine 32 is thus compact.

[0045] The tangential turbomachine 30 may also comprise a motor 31 (visible in FIGS. 2 and 3) configured to rotate the turbine 32. The motor 31 is for example adapted to drive the turbine 32 in rotation, at a speed between 200 rpm and 14,000 rpm. This makes it possible in particular to limit the noise generated by the tangential turbomachine 30.

[0046] The tangential turbomachine 30 is arranged in the first collector housing 4L. The tangential turbomachine 30 is configured to suck in air in order to generate the air flow F passing through the set of heat exchangers 23. The tangential turbomachine 30 more precisely comprises a volute 44, formed by the first collector housing 41 and in the center of which the turbine 32 is arranged. The air discharge from the volute 44 corresponds to the outlet 45 of the air flow F from the first collector housing 4L.

[0047] In the example illustrated in Figures 2 and 3, the tangential turbomachine 30 is in a high position, in particular in the upper third of the first collector housing 41, preferably in the upper quarter of the first collector housing 4L. This makes it possible in particular to protect the tangential turbomachine 30 in the event of submersion and / or to limit the size of the cooling module 22 in its lower part. In this case, the outlet 45 of the air flow F is preferably oriented towards the lower part of the cooling module 22.

[0048] It is nevertheless possible to imagine that the tangential turbomachine 30 is in a low position, in particular in the lower third of the first collector housing 4L. This would make it possible to limit the size of the cooling module 22 in its upper part. In this case, the outlet 45 of the air flow will preferably be oriented towards the upper part of the cooling module 22. Alternatively, the tangential turbomachine 30 can be in a middle position, in particular in the middle third of the height of the first collector housing 41, for example for reasons of integration of the cooling module 22 in its environment.

[0049] By upper and lower, we mean here an orientation in the Z direction. A so-called upper element will be closer to the roof of the vehicle 10 and a so-called lower element will be closer to the ground.

[0050] In order to guide the air leaving the fairing 40 towards the outlet 45, the first collector housing 41 comprises, arranged opposite the downstream end of the fairing 40, a guide wall 46 inclined from the air flow F towards the outlet 45. This guide wall 46 more particularly forms the junction with an upstream edge of the outlet 45 of the air flow F. By upstream edge, is meant here the edge of the outlet 45 closest to the downstream end of the fairing 40.

[0051] As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the cooling module 22 may further comprise an additional heat exchanger 25 arranged within the first collector housing 41 between the downstream end of the fairing 40 and the outlet 45 of the air flow F. Placing this additional heat exchanger 29 within the first collector housing 41 makes it possible to increase the number of heat exchangers within the cooling module 22 while avoiding increasing its size. Indeed, this additional heat exchanger 29 is arranged in a so-called “dead” zone at the outlet of the fairing 40. More precisely, the additional heat exchanger 25 is preferably arranged between the downstream end of the fairing 40 and the guide wall 46.

[0052] This additional heat exchanger 25 can for example be connected to the air conditioning circuit. The additional heat exchanger 25 can thus play a role of de-superheater by being arranged within the air conditioning circuit upstream of the condenser, for example the first heat exchanger 24.

[0053] As illustrated in Figures 3 and 4, the additional heat exchanger 25 of the first collector housing 41 may more particularly comprise a bundle of tubes 25c comprising a multitude of tubes 25c, in which a heat transfer fluid is intended to circulate. These tubes 25c are arranged spaced apart from each other so that the air flow F can circulate between said tubes 25c.

[0054] The additional heat exchanger 25 of the first collector box 41 also comprises a collector box arranged at each end of the tube bundle 25c. This collector box comprises in particular a collector plate 25b crossed by the tubes 25c of the tube bundle 25c. The collector box further comprises a cover 25a covering said collector plate 25b so as to form a cavity into which one end of the tubes 25c opens.

[0055] In order to facilitate the manufacture and assembly of the air guide, the cover 25a of the collector box is made of the same material as the at least one wall of the air guide, here of the first collector box 4L. The integration of the additional heat exchanger 25 within the first collector box 41 is thus improved.

[0056] The first collector box 41 may in particular comprise two walls parallel to each other. At least one of said parallel walls then comprises at least one collector box cover 25a. More precisely, the first collector box 41 may have a quadrilateral section, for example a rectangle.

[0057] According to a first embodiment illustrated in Figures 2 to 4, the first collector box 41 may in particular comprise two parallel walls each comprising a collector box cover 25a. The collector boxes then face each other and are arranged on either side of the first collector box section 4L. In the example illustrated in Figures 2 to 4, the covers 24a are produced on the side walls of the first collector box 4L. However, it is entirely possible to imagine that the covers 25a are produced on the upper and lower walls of the first collector box 4L.

[0058] According to a second embodiment not shown, the same wall of the air guide, here of the first collector box 41, comprises two covers 25a of two collector boxes. The bundle of tubes 25c then comprises a “U” shaped return elbow. This elbow is in particular arranged against the wall of the air guide opposite that carrying the covers 25a.

[0059] The covers 25a may in particular be arranged side by side on the same wall. These two covers 25a may be separate or joined together and have a common rim. Such a configuration makes it possible in particular to facilitate the connections and the connection of the at least one heat exchanger to a thermal management circuit during assembly.

[0060] Still according to this second embodiment, the collector boxes each have a dedicated collector plate 25b. However, it is entirely possible to imagine a variant in which the collector plate 25b is common to both collector boxes.

[0061] The cooling module 22 may also comprise a second collector housing 42 also forming an air guide and arranged upstream of the fairing 40. This second collector housing 42 comprises an inlet for the air flow F coming from outside the vehicle 10. The inlet may in particular be arranged opposite the cooling bay 18. This inlet may also comprise a protective grille 21. The second collector housing 42 may be made of the same material as the fairing 40 or may be an added part fixed to the upstream end of said fairing 40.

[0062] In addition, the inlet of the second collector housing 42 may comprise a front face closure device (not shown) movable between a first so-called open position and a second so-called closure position. This front face closure device is in particular configured to allow the air flow F coming from outside the vehicle 10 to pass through said inlet in its open position and to close said air flow inlet in its closure position.

[0063] The front face closure device can be in different forms, such as for example in the form of a plurality of flaps mounted to pivot between an open position and a closed position. The flaps can be mounted parallel to the Y direction. However, it is entirely possible to imagine other configurations, such as for example flaps mounted parallel to the Z direction. The flaps can be of the flag type, but other types of flaps, such as butterfly flaps, are entirely conceivable.

[0064] As illustrated in Figures 2 to 4 and 7, 8, the second collector housing 42 may comprise an additional heat exchanger 26 within it. This additional heat exchanger 26 of the second collector housing 42 may more particularly comprise a bundle of tubes 26c comprising a multitude of tubes 26c, in in which a heat transfer fluid is intended to circulate. These tubes 26c are arranged spaced apart from each other so that the air flow F can circulate between said tubes 26c.

[0065] The additional heat exchanger 26 of the second collector box 42 also comprises a collector box arranged at each end of the tube bundle 26c. This collector box comprises in particular a collector plate 26b crossed by the tubes 26c of the tube bundle 26c. The collector box further comprises a cover 26a covering said collector plate 26b so as to form a cavity into which one end of the tubes 26c opens.

[0066] In order to facilitate the manufacture and assembly of the air guide, the cover 26a of the collector box is made of the same material as the at least one wall of the air guide, here of the second collector box 42. The integration of the additional heat exchanger 26 within the second collector box 42 is thus improved.

[0067] The second collector box 42 may in particular comprise two walls parallel to each other. At least one of said parallel walls then comprises at least one collector box cover 26a. More precisely, the second collector box 42 may have a quadrilateral section, for example a rectangle.

[0068] According to a first embodiment illustrated in Figures 2 to 4 and 7, 8, the second collector box 42 may in particular comprise two parallel walls each comprising a collector box cover 26a. The collector boxes then face each other and are arranged on either side of the first collector box section 46. In the example illustrated in Figures 2 to 4 and 7, 8, the covers 26a are produced on the side walls of the second collector box 42. It is however entirely possible to imagine that the covers 26a are produced on the upper and lower walls of the second collector box 42.

[0069] According to a second embodiment not shown, the same wall of the air guide, here of the second collector box 42, comprises two covers 26a of two collector boxes. The bundle of tubes 26c then comprises a “U” return elbow. This elbow is in particular arranged against the wall of the air guide opposite that carrying the covers 26a.

[0070] The covers 26a may in particular be arranged side by side on the same wall. These two covers 26a may be separate or joined together and have a common rim. Such a configuration makes it possible in particular to facilitate the connections and the connection of the at least one heat exchanger to a thermal management circuit during assembly.

[0071] Still according to this second embodiment, the collector boxes each have a dedicated collector plate 26b. However, it is entirely possible to imagine a variant in which the collector plate 26b is common to both collector boxes. readers.

[0072] According to a first embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3 to 8, the tubes 24c, 25c, 26c of the bundle of tubes 24c, 25c, 26c may be hollow fibers.

[0073] Such hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c are preferably made of a material resistant to the operating temperatures of the heat exchanger 24, 25, 26. The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c are for example made of a polymer material, in particular a plastic material, in particular comprising a polyamide. By way of non-limiting example, mention may be made of polyamide 11 or polyamide 12, known by the acronyms PAU and PA12. These hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c replace the aluminum tubes, for example known from the prior art, by being lighter and less expensive than the aluminum tubes.

[0074] The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may in particular be sized and arranged so as to improve the performance of the heat exchanger 24, 25, 26 and minimize its cost. This sizing and arrangement may be done by taking into account in particular the exchanged power, defined from the overall exchange coefficient of the heat exchanger, the length of all the hollow fibers, the internal hydraulic efficiency, and the external hydraulic efficiency.

[0075] The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may in particular each have a very small internal diameter, i.e. less than a millimeter, for example between 0.6 mm and 1 mm. The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c preferably have a generally tubular shape. More precisely, the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may have a circular or substantially circular cross-section.

[0076] The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may have a thickness between 50 pm and 100 pm.

[0077] In the bundle of tubes 24c, 25c, 26c, the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may be free, that is to say they are not encapsulated in a material or a plate, nor arranged inside a tube or the like. They may thus be in direct contact, without intermediary, with the air passing through the air guide 40, 41, 42.

[0078] The arrangement of the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c in the tube bundle 24c, 25c, 26c may be regular. This means that the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c are arranged in a constant pattern (as illustrated in Figures 3 to 8), as opposed to a random arrangement. The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c may, for example, be arranged parallel to each other. The hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c are advantageously arranged with a constant pitch between them. Furthermore, the gap is maintained between the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c so that no hollow fiber 24c, 25c, 26c comes into contact with another hollow fiber 24c, 25c, 26c, and each can individually exchange heat with the second fluid when it passes through the heat exchange bundle 24c, 25c, 26c.

[0079] It is nevertheless entirely possible to imagine a variant in which the arrangement of the hollow fibers 24c, 25c, 26c is random and intermingled.

[0080] According to a second embodiment not shown, the heat exchangers 24, 25, 26 may comprise a bundle of flat tubes stacked on top of each other and separated by spacers. The ends of the flat tubes pass through a collector plate 24b, 25b, 26b to arrive in a space formed by the cover 24a, 25a, 26a.
