Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Hook lock for aircraft nacelle hoods
[0001] The present invention relates to a lock for assembling a first and a second structural element, of the type comprising: a bracket suitable for being fixed to the first hood; a hooking arm comprising a hook suitable for cooperating with a hooking bar fixed to the second hood; a first handle movable in rotation relative to the bracket, between a first open configuration and a first closed configuration; a second handle movable in rotation relative to the bracket, between a second open configuration and a second closed configuration; the first and second handles being configured so that, in the second closed configuration, the second handle locks the first handle in the first closed configuration.
[0002] The invention is particularly applicable to aircraft nacelle cowling latches. Such a latch is notably known from document US584382.
[0003] The locks are generally positioned under the gondola. Such a position makes access to these locks difficult.
[0004] The present invention aims to provide a lock adapted to nacelle hoods and offering easier access and improved ergonomics compared to known solutions.
[0005] To this end, the invention relates to a lock of the aforementioned type, in which, in the second closed configuration of the second handle, a form of the second handle is fitted into a counter-form of the first handle so as to lock the first handle in the first closed configuration.
[0006] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the lock comprises one or more of the following features, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations:
[0007] - the two handles form, in the first and second closed configurations, a continuous surface;
[0008] - the console forms a housing, the lock further comprising a sliding body housed in the housing, the sliding body being mobile in translation relative to the console, between a first and a second axial positions, the hooking arm being articulated at a first end of the sliding body;
[0009] - the sliding body includes a through oblong orifice, extending between a first end and a second end; the first handle rotates around a support rod fixed to the first hood, said rod being arranged in the oblong through orifice; in the first closed configuration of the first handle, the first end of the through orifice is close to the support rod; and in the first open configuration of the first handle, the second end of the through orifice is close to the support rod;
[0010] - the lock further comprises a connecting rod mechanism including at least one first and second connecting rods, the first connecting rod being articulated to the support rod and the first handle, the second connecting rod being articulated to the first connecting rod and a second end of the sliding body;
[0011] - the first handle includes a first trigger adapted to hook a first bar connected to the first hood;
[0012] - the second handle includes a second trigger suitable for hooking a second bar provided on the console.
[0013] The invention further relates to a locking assembly for assembling a first and a second hood, said assembly comprising: a lock as described above; a hooking bar suitable for being fixed to the second hood and for cooperating with the hook of the locking arm; and a support rod suitable for being fixed to the first hood.
[0014] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the locking assembly comprises one or more of the following features, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations:
[0015] - the locking assembly further includes a support element, suitable for being attached to the first hood, said support element comprising a first bar adapted to cooperate with the first trigger of the first handle to maintain the first handle in the first closed configuration;
[0016] - the support element comprises a rotating movable rocker arm and a shaft, said the shaft being connected on one side to the rocker arm, and able to be connected on the other side to the second handle of the lock, so that a rotation of the second handle causes a rotation of the rocker arm.
[0017] The invention further relates to an aircraft nacelle comprising a first and a second hood and a locking assembly as described above, wherein the lock and the support element are fixed near a lower edge of the first hood; the nacelle further comprising a telescopic device fixed near upper edges of said hoods; and a linking device connecting the support element to the telescopic device, such that a rotation of the second handle activates a locked or unlocked configuration of the telescopic device.
[0018] The invention will become clearer upon reading the following description, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the drawings in which:

[0023] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] is an isometric view of the inverted lock of [Fig.4];
[0024] [Fig.6] [Fig.6] is an isometric view of certain elements of the lock of [Fig.5]
[0025] Figure 1 represents an aircraft nacelle 10, comprising a first cowling 12 and a second cowling 14 delimiting an internal compartment 16, containing a jet engine 18, and a locking assembly 20. Said locking assembly 20 includes in particular a lock 22 according to an embodiment of the invention. These elements are shown schematically in Figure 1.
[0026] In the configuration shown in [Fig. 1], compartment 16 is closed. The lower edges 24 of the covers 12, 14 are assembled to each other by at least one locking assembly 20.
[0027] The upper edges 26 of each of the cowlings are assembled to a reactor mast 28 and can each rotate about a separate axis of rotation. The upper edges 26 of the cowlings are connected by a lockable telescopic device 30 that allows the cowlings to be held in the closed position during flight. Such a telescopic device is described, for example, in document EP2914793.
[0028] In the particular mode shown, the gondola includes a linking device 32, described later, between the lock 22 and the telescopic device 30.
[0029] Each hood has an external face oriented towards the outside of the nacelle, and an internal face oriented towards compartment 16. In the embodiment shown, the external face of each of the hoods has a smooth and convex profile.
[0030] In the following description, we consider an orthonormal basis (X, Y, Z) associated with the lock 22. The direction X corresponds to the longitudinal direction, the direction Y corresponds to the transverse direction, and the direction Z corresponds to the normal direction.
[0031] As shown in [Fig. 2], the first cover 12 has a through opening 34, elongated in shape. The opening 34 has a closed contour and is located near a lower edge 24 of the first cover 12. The latch 22 is fixed to the first hood 12 so that its two handles 60 and 64, which will be described below, are contained in the opening 34 and accessible to an operator from outside the platform 10.
[0032] The locking assembly 20 is visible in Figures 3 and 4. The locking assembly 20 includes in particular: the lock 22, described in detail later; a hooking bar 36; a support rod 38 and a support element 40.
[0033] The attachment bar 36 is fixed inside the second hood 14, near its lower edge.
[0034] The support rod 38 is fixed inside the first hood 12, for example between two structural elements (not shown) arranged on the inner face of the first hood 12.
[0035] The support element 40 is fixed inside the first cover 12, on either side of the through opening 34, by means of fasteners (not shown) passing through holes provided in a plate 42 of the support. The support element 40 is thus arranged in the compartment 16. A first portion 44 extending projecting from a surface of the plate 42, oriented towards the through opening 34, comprises a first bar 46. A second portion 48 extending projecting from an opposite surface of the plate 42, oriented towards the interior of the compartment 16, comprises a rocker arm 50, rotatable about an axis A substantially perpendicular to the inner face of the first cover. The spreader bar includes at each end an eyelet 52. The support element 40 also includes a shaft 53 connected on one side to one of the eyelets 52 of the spreader bar 50, and on the other side to the lock, as will be described later.
[0036] The lock 22, visible in figures 3 to 6, comprises: a console 54; a sliding body 56; a hooking arm 58; a first handle 60; a connecting rod mechanism 62 and a second handle 64.
[0037] The console 54 extends along in a longitudinal direction, parallel to the X axis, and comprises: an upper plate 66 and a lower plate 68, extending substantially in planes (X, Y); and two lateral plates 70, extending substantially in planes (X, Z).
[0038] The upper plate 66 includes means 72 for assembly to the first cover 12, such as fixing holes. The upper plate 66, lower plate 68 and side plates 70 form a housing 72 of substantially parallelepiped shape, extending in the longitudinal direction between two open ends.
[0039] The side plates 70 form an axial projection 74 relative to one of the ends of the housing 72. At the level of said axial projection, each side plate 70 has a hole with a closed contour.
[0040] The sliding body 56, visible in [Fig. 6], has the shape of a block substantially equating lelepiped, the first end of which 78 has two first legs 80 parallel. Similarly, a second end 82 has two second legs 84 parallel.
[0041] Each first 80 and second 84 leg is substantially flat and extends in a plane (X, Z). The first 80 and second legs 84 are spaced apart from each other in the transverse direction, along the Y axis.
[0042] The central portion 86 of the sliding body extends axially between the two ends 78, 82 and includes a through oblong orifice 88, extending in the longitudinal direction. The orifice 88 has a first 90 and a second 92 closed ends. The through oblong orifice receives a portion of the support rod 38, extending in the transverse direction.
[0043] The lock 22 is thus blocked from rotation around the transverse axis, on the one hand by the fixing of the console 54 to the first cover 12, and on the other hand by the support rod 38 disposed in the oblong through orifice 88. The sliding body 56 is however mobile in translation in the longitudinal direction in the housing 72 of the console 54, over a stroke defined by the length between the closed ends 90, 92 of the oblong through orifice.
[0044] The hooking arm 58 comprises a first end fitted with a hook 94. The opposite end of the hooking arm 58 is connected to the first legs 80 of the sliding body 56 by means of a rivet passing through said end and the first legs 80. The hooking arm is movable in rotation relative to the sliding body 56 around the rivet, therefore around an axis extending in the through direction.
[0045] The hook 94 is configured to cooperate with the latching bar 36 to keep the compartment 16 closed. More specifically, in the first position of the lock 22, referred to as the closed position, visible in Figures 2 and 3, the hook 94 grips the latching bar 36. In the second position of the lock 22, referred to as the open position, visible in Figures 4 and 5, the hook 94 is at a distance from the latching bar 36, allowing the covers to be opened.
[0046] The first handle 60 is connected to the sliding body and is movable in rotation relative to said sliding body 56, around the support rod 38. The first handle is shown in transparency in [Fig. 5].
[0047] The first handle 60 has a substantially U-shaped cross-section and comprises: a first core 102 and two first sides 104 extending from said first core 102. Each first side 104 has a notch 106, an oblong hole 108 and a circular hole 110 to receive the support rod 38.
[0048] The first handle 60 is mobile in rotation between a first closed configuration, visible in transparency on figures 2 and 3, and a first open configuration, visible on figures 4 and in transparency on [Fig.5].
[0049] The first handle 60 is also linked to the connecting rod mechanism 62, visible in figures 3, 5 and 6.
[0050] The connecting rod mechanism 62 comprises two identical assemblies, symmetrically arranged on either side of the sliding body 56.
[0051] Each assembly comprises a first 114 and a second 116 connecting rods. Each first connecting rod 114 has an L-shaped form and comprises a first 118 and a second 120 end, and a central joint 122.
[0052] The first end 118 has a circular opening to receive a portion of the support rod 38. Thus, the first ends 118 of the first connecting rods 114 are secured by the support rod 38, while remaining free to pivot about said support rod 38. The second ends 120 of the first connecting rods are connected to each other by a pin 121.
[0053] A lug 124 provided at one end of the second connecting rod 116 passes through the central joint 122 of the first connecting rod 114 and the oblong bore 108 of the first handle. The lug 124 thus connects the second connecting rod 118 to the first connecting rod 114 and to the first handle 60.
[0054] A pin 126 extends between the second ends of the second connecting rods 116 and the second legs 84 of the sliding body, allowing the rotation of the second connecting rods 116 around the pin.
[0055] The connecting rod mechanism 62 further includes a torsion spring 128, wound around the pin 126.
[0056] The support rod 38 fixed to the first hood 12 therefore passes, in the transverse direction, through the first sides 104 of the first handle 60, the holes in the side plates 70 of the console 54 and the first connecting rods 114 of the connecting rod mechanism 62.
[0057] In the first closed configuration of the first handle 36, visible in [Fig. 3], the sliding body 56 is in a first axial position relative to the bracket 54. More precisely, in said first axial position, the sliding body is positioned such that the first end 90 of the through hole 88 contacts the support rod 38. In this position, the lug 124 of each assembly 112 is near a first end of the oblong bore 108 of the first handle 60, and an arm of the torsion spring 128 is in contact with the web 102 of the first handle 60. The spring 128 exerts a pushing force on the first handle, tending to move the first handle to the open position.
[0058] In the first open configuration of the first handle 60, visible in Figures 4 and 5, the sliding body 56 is in a second axial position relative to the bracket 54. More precisely, in said second axial position, the sliding body is positioned such that the second end 92 of the through orifice 88 is close to the support rod 38. In this position, the lug 124 of each assembly 112 is near a second end of the oblong hole 108 of the first handle 60 and the torsion spring 128 no longer contacts the first handle 60.
[0059] The first handle 60 also includes a first trigger 130 equipped with first hooks 132. The first trigger 130 is able to pivot relative to the first handle. As shown in [Fig. 2], the first hooks 132 are able to grip the first bar 46 of the support element 40 to hold the first handle 60 in the first closed configuration.
[0060] The second handle 64 is articulated to the console 54. The second handle 64 has a substantially U-shaped cross-section and comprises: a second web 134, substantially elongated in shape; and two second flanks 136 extending from the second web 134.
[0061] Each second flank 136 has a substantially L-shaped form and comprises: a first branch 138, running substantially along the second web 132; and a second branch 140, extending from the first branch.
[0062] A second pin 144, located at the intersection between the arms 138 and 140, connects the second sides 136 to the lower plate 68 of the console 54. The second handle 64 is thus mobile in rotation relative to the console 54 around a transverse axis parallel to the Y axis materialized by the second pin 144.
[0063] A connecting rod 146 links the ends of the second arms 140 of the second handle. The shaft 53 of the support element 40 is connected to the connecting rod 146.
[0064] The connecting device 32 described above connects the support element 40 to the telescopic device 30 mentioned above. The connecting device 32 includes, for example, a cable attached to the other of the two eyelets 52 of the lifting beam and to the telescopic device 30. The connecting device 32 is capable of switching the telescopic device 30 between an activated locking configuration and a deactivated locking configuration.
[0065] The second handle 64 is rotationally movable between a second closed configuration, visible in figures 1, 2 and 3, and a second open configuration, visible in figures 4 and 5.
[0066] As can be seen in [Fig. 3], in the second closed configuration of the second handle 64, the first arm 138 of each second side 136 is fitted into the notch 106 of one of the first sides 104 of the first handle 60. Thus, by means of a form and counter-form system on the two handles, the first handle 60 is locked in the first closed configuration when the second handle 64 is in the second closed configuration. Other form and counter-form configurations may be provided on the two handles than those shown.
[0067] Furthermore, in the second closed configuration of the second handle 64, the external faces of the two handles 60, 64 form a continuous smooth surface, fitting into the closed contour of the through opening 34 of the first cover 12. Thus, in the closed position of the lock 22, visible in figures 1 to 3, the first cover 12 has a substantially continuous and smooth external surface.
[0068] Furthermore, in the second closed configuration of the second handle 64, the free ends of the second branches 140 are in a first axial position tending to pull the shaft 53 towards the hook 94, and thus bring the telescopic device 30 into an activated locking configuration.
[0069] In the second open configuration of the second handle 64, visible in [Fig.4], the second flanks 136 are away from the first flanks 104 of the first handle 60. The second open configuration of the second handle 64 thus allows the rotation of the first handle 60 relative to the console 54.
[0070] Furthermore, in the second open configuration of the second handle 64, by the effect of rotation of the handle 64 around the console 54, the free ends of the second branches 140 are in a second axial position tending to push the shaft 53 opposite the hook 94, and thus bring the telescopic device 30 into a deactivated locking configuration.
[0071] The second handle 64 also includes a second trigger 152 comprising second hooks 154, capable of gripping a second bar 156, integral with the lower plate 68 of the console, in order to maintain said second handle in said second closed configuration.
[0072] A method for operating the locking assembly 20 will now be described.
[0073] It is assumed that, in an initial state, compartment 16 is closed and that hoods 12, 14 and lock 22 are in the position visible in figures 1-3.
[0074] First, an operator presses the second trigger 152 to open the second handle 64, which rotates around the second pin 144. The free ends of the second handle rotate clockwise and thus move from the first to the second axial position. By means of the connecting rod 146 pushing the shaft 53 and activating the rotation of the rocker arm 50 around the axis A, the telescopic device 30 is unlocked.
[0075] The operator then presses the first trigger 130 to open the first handle 60, which then pivots around the support rod 38. The sliding body 56 then moves longitudinally relative to the console 54, causing the hooking arm 58 to pivot relative to the console. The hook 94 thus moves away from the hooking bar 36.
[0076] The latch 22 is then in the second position of [Fig. 4] and 5. The hook 94 No longer held in place by the latching bar 36, the upper edges 26 of the hoods 12 and 14 can be moved apart by means of an unshown mechanism, such as a hydraulic cylinder, activated by the operator. Compartment 16 is thus opened, allowing access to reactor 18.
[0077] At the end of said operation, the hoods 12, 14 are folded down by the operator using said mechanism. The telescopic device 30 is folded back. The first handle 60 is then closed by the operator. According to a reverse process to that described previously, the hooking arm 94 pivots towards the second hood 14 and the sliding body 56 moves longitudinally, so as to allow the hook 94 to grip the hooking bar 36 to bring the lower edges of the hoods 12, 14 together.
[0078] Upon contact with the first bar 46 of the support element, the first hooks 132 of the first trigger 128 grip said bar, holding the first handle 60 in the first closed position. The lock 22 is thus locked.
[0079] The operator then closes the second handle 64, which fits into the first handle 60. The linkage device 32 is thus actuated, locking the telescopic device 30 in the closed position.
[0080] Upon contact with the second bar 156, the second hooks 154 grip said bar, keeping the second handle closed. The telescopic device 30 is thus locked.
[0081] The lock 22 described above is easy to use and ergonomic for an operator. The lock 22 allows the telescopic device 30 to be activated by means of a single lock, thus reducing the weight and complexity of the mechanism. The aerodynamic drag associated with the presence of such locks is also reduced.
[0082] Furthermore, the double handle system described above makes it possible to secure the order of actuation of the lock 22 and the telescopic device 30, and in particular to ensure that the lock 22 is locked, and that the covers are actually closed, before locking the telescopic device 30.
[0083] Indeed, any attempt to lock the telescopic device 30 before the locking of the lock 22 may lead to the breakage of said telescopic device when the hoods are brought together, and / or lead to a possible failure to lock said telescopic device, implying in both cases a risk of the hoods opening in the upper part in flight under strong stress.
[0084] Finally, the operator must open the second handle 64, thus activating the unlocking mechanism of the telescopic device 30, in order to open the first handle 60, that is, to open the lock 22. The first handle 60 cannot be opened before the second handle 64, even if the operator presses on the first handle 60. trigger 130, because the fitting of the second handle into the notch 106 of the first handle blocks the rotation of the first handle 60.
[0085] The invention is not, however, limited to the embodiment described above. Thus, the opening 34 can be closed by a hatch, and the lock can be positioned back from the hatch in the direction normal to the hatch, so that the handles are only accessible once the hatch is open.
