AI Technical Summary
Existing hospital trolleys face challenges in securely attaching and preventing manual insufflation balloons from unhooking and falling during transport or movement.
A hospital trolley with a hooking device featuring a main body with a front part to receive the balloon and a rear part with expansions that fit into a housing, ensuring secure attachment and retention.
The solution provides stable support for manual insufflation balloons, minimizing the risk of unhooking and falling, enhancing safety and convenience during transport.
Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Hospital trolley with attachment device for manual insufflation balloon
[0001] The present invention relates to a hospital trolley with a hooking device for a manual insufflation balloon.
[0002] A hospital trolley is a mobile care trolley used to transport, within a hospital establishment or in a care practice, such as a dental practice, care devices, medical appliances, utensils, gas cylinders or other items.
[0003] A trolley typically comprises a base provided with casters, a trolley body with one or more compartments or storage spaces which surmount the base, and a tray surmounting the trolley body.
[0004] A trolley may be used to transport one or more gas cylinders used to distribute a respiratory or therapeutic gas to a patient, for example a sedation gas, such as MEOPA, namely an equimolar mixture (50% / 50%) of oxygen (O2) and nitrous oxide (N2O), or to ventilate a patient with oxygen or air. An example of such a trolley is given by EP-A-2574361.
[0005] In this case, the gas can be administered using a manual insufflation bag or BA VU which allows the gas to be sent to the patient's lungs, via a respiratory interface, such as a respiratory mask.
[0006] One problem is being able to quickly and efficiently hook the BAVU to the trolley when not in use, for example when the trolley is stored or is being moved from one location to another within the building.
[0007] The invention aims to propose an improved trolley comprising a hooking device for a manual insufflation balloon allowing good support of the balloon while limiting the risks of unhooking and falling onto the ground.
[0008] The solution of the invention then relates to a hospital trolley, that is to say a care trolley, comprising a base provided with casters, a trolley body arranged on the base, and a tray surmounting the trolley body, said tray comprising at least one housing.
[0009] According to the invention, the trolley further comprises a balloon attachment device, i.e. a BAVU, comprising a main body comprising a front part configured to receive and hold an insufflation balloon, and a rear part comprising one or more expansions configured to be housed in the housing of the tray and retain the balloon attachment device there.
[0010] Depending on the embodiment considered, the trolley of the invention may comprise one or more of the following characteristics:
[0011]
[0012]
[0013]
[0014]
[0015]
[0016]
[0017]
[0018]
[0019] - the rear part includes two tubular-shaped expansions. - the front part includes a cylindrical internal space and a slot lateral communicating with the internal space to allow a tubular part of a balloon, in particular a conduit element of the balloon, to be inserted into the internal space via the lateral slit. - the main body is made of polymer. The invention will now be better understood thanks to the following detailed description, given for illustrative but non-limiting purposes, with reference to the appended figures among which: - [Fig.l] is a schematic representation of one embodiment of a hospital trolley; - [Fig.2] shows a diagram of a hanging device for an insufflation balloon manual according to the invention; - [Fig.3] shows a diagram (view from below) of the hanging device of [Fig.2] arranged on the tray of the hospital trolley of [Fig.l]; and - [Fig.4] shows a diagram (top view) of the hanging device of [Fig.2] arranged on the tray of the hospital trolley of [Fig.l]. [Fig.l] shows a diagram of a hospital trolley 1 of conventional structure, for example as described by EP-A-2574361. It comprises a base 2 provided with several casters 3 used to move it by rolling on the ground, a trolley body 4 arranged on the base 2 and a tray 5 surmounting the trolley body 4. The trolley body 4 comprises one or more internal compartments or volumes 6, which can be opened or closed, such as one or more storage spaces, one or more sliding or tilting drawers, etc. used to store care devices, medical appliances, utensils, or others. Here, the internal volume 6 of the trolley body 4 comprises a gas bottle 7 provided with a protective cover 8 or rigid 'cap' protecting the gas distribution tap 9. Another storage space 11 is arranged under the shelf 5. The tray 5 includes a slot 10 acting as a handling handle allowing the user to grip it and steer the trolley 1 on the ground when moving. The tray 5 may also include hooks 12 used to hang flexible pipes or the like. Furthermore, the plate 5 comprises one or more housings 13 for receiving a hanging device for a manual insufflation balloon or BAVU according to the invention, as illustrated in [Fig.2] to [Fig.4]. [Fig.2] shows schematically an embodiment of the hanging device 20 which comprises a main body 21 formed of two main parts, namely a front part 22 for fixing a ball which is configured to receive and hold a ball, and a rear part 23 comprising one or more expansions 24, namely here two expansions 24 of generally tubular shape, configured to be housed in a housing 13 of the plate 5, as visible in [Fig.3].
[0020] The front part 22 has an open tubular shape, that is to say that it comprises an internal space or housing 26 of cylindrical shape and a lateral slot 25 communicating with the internal space or housing 26 to allow a tubular part of a balloon to be inserted therein, such as a conduit element connected to the deformable flexible part of the balloon (not shown).
[0021] The main body 21 of the attachment device 20 is made of polymer.
[0022] Such a trolley 1 can be used in any hospital establishment or in a medical pharmacy, such as a dental or veterinary practice.
