Description

Title of the invention: Internal opening control for a motor vehicle with opposing doors

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of motor vehicles with opposing openings, and more particularly to mechanisms for opening the openings of such motor vehicles.

[0002] Opposite openings, or opposing doors, correspond to side openings of a motor vehicle which open opposite each other. For example, the front opening opens by pivoting around an axis arranged at the front of this front opening, while the rear opening opens by pivoting around an axis arranged at the rear of this rear opening, the qualifications "front" and "rear" of the openings being assessed in relation to a front and a rear of the motor vehicle.

[0003] The front opening and the rear opening may rest, when closed, on a center pillar of the motor vehicle. However, certain motor vehicles do not have such a center pillar, so as to allow wide access to a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle and in particular to facilitate the installation of passengers within this passenger compartment.

[0004] For these vehicles, the front opening is usually closed at least partially on the rear opening. It is thus necessary that, when closing the openings, the rear opening is closed before the front opening, and conversely that when opening them the front opening is opened before the rear opening.

[0005] For this purpose, the driver or passenger seated at the front can operate the front opening, then once out of the vehicle operate the rear opening to release a passenger seated at the rear. Such an organization, however, requires the intervention of a third person to allow a passenger seated at the rear to exit the vehicle. Alternatively, the passenger seated at the rear can lean inside the vehicle until reaching an interior handle controlling the front opening, then open the rear opening himself. These two solutions are however not satisfactory because they lack practicality for the passenger seated at the rear of the vehicle.

[0006] The present invention aims to overcome this drawback by proposing a motor vehicle in which the opening of the opposing openings is facilitated for a rear passenger user of the motor vehicle, this rear passenger being able to control an opening of the front opening from the rear seat.

[0007] The present invention thus has as its main object a motor vehicle comprising a body and two opposing side openings mounted on the body, among which a front opening and a rear opening, these openings being configured to take a first position in which they are closed and a second position in which they are open, the motor vehicle comprising a device for opening the openings comprising a means for locking the front opening arranged on the front opening and engaged on the rear opening when the openings are in their first position, a control member configured to control the locking means, the opening device comprising at least one locking member for the rear opening arranged on the rear opening and engaged on the body when the rear opening is in its first position, the opening device comprising a means for actuating the control member and the locking member, this actuating means being arranged on the rear opening.

[0008] The motor vehicle according to the invention comprises two opposing openings, which are pivotally mounted on a body of the vehicle. The motor vehicle comprises, for example, two opposing openings on its right lateral side and two opposing openings on its left lateral side. Such opposing openings have pivot points respectively arranged on the body at ends opposite a central portion of the motor vehicle at which the openings meet.

[0009] The front opening leaf, like the rear opening leaf, is configured to take either a first position or closed position, or a second position or open position, a transition from one to the other of the positions being effected by a pivoting of the opening leaf. The opening leaf is considered to be in its second position when it is not closed, that is to say as soon as a lock of this opening leaf is released. There are thus a plurality of positions of the opening leaf when it is in its second position, each of these positions corresponding to a different angle of inclination of the opening leaf relative to a main extension direction of the motor vehicle.

[0010] A device for opening the openings is configured to move the openings from their first position to their second position, i.e. to open them. This opening device makes it possible to open both the front opening and the rear opening in a single handling operation by a passenger seated at the rear of the motor vehicle according to the invention.

[0011] In the first position of the openings, the front opening is locked to the rear opening while this rear opening is itself locked to the body of the motor vehicle. More particularly, the front opening comprises for this purpose a locking means which is engaged on the rear opening, while the rear opening comprises at least one locking member engaged on the body.

[0012] The locking means and the locking member are unlocked by the same means of actuation of the opening device; the unlocking of the locking member operates directly by the actuating means, whereas the unlocking of the locking means comprises an intermediate control member. In other words, to unlock the front opening, the implementation of the actuating means induces the implementation of the control member, which unlocks the locking means.

[0013] Either the actuating means acts directly on the control member mechanically, or this actuating means acts via an electrical network of the motor vehicle which passes an opening request issued by the actuating means to a computer before unlocking the locking means.

[0014] The actuating means is arranged on the rear opening. Due to such an arrangement, the actuating means is directly accessible to the rear passenger who can thus control the opening of the two openings from his rear seat.

[0015] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the motor vehicle does not have a center pillar between the two openings.

[0016] In other words, the motor vehicle does not include a central side member on which the openings would rest in their closed position. In this closed position of each of the two openings, the front opening is at least partially overlapping the rear opening so that its locking means is engaged on the rear opening.

[0017] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the control member is arranged on the front opening.

[0018] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the front opening comprises a front rebate and a rear rebate, the control member being arranged closer to the rear rebate than to the front rebate.

[0019] The arrangement of the front and rear rebates of the front opening is assessed in relation to a front and a rear of the motor vehicle. The presence of the control member in the vicinity of the rear rebate brings it closer to the rear opening, and by extension to the actuating means carried by this rear opening.

[0020] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the at least one locking member comprises a first locking member and a second locking member, the first locking member being arranged on an upper edge of the rear opening and the second locking member being arranged on a lower edge, the upper edge being arranged above the lower edge relative to a vertical direction substantially parallel to a direction perpendicular to the ground on which the motor vehicle rests.

[0021] The first locking member and the second locking member are thus vertically opposed. This arrangement of the locking members allows, in the first position of the rear opening, to secure it to the body of the vehicle at two separate points, so as to distribute the forces on the body and to ensure more reliable securing.

[0022] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the rear opening comprises a front rebate and a rear rebate, the actuating means being arranged closer to the front rebate than to the rear rebate.

[0023] Similar to what has been specified for the front opening, the arrangement of the front and rear rebates of the rear opening is assessed in relation to the front and rear of the motor vehicle.

[0024] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the front opening comprises an internal opening control closer to the front rebate than to the rear rebate.

[0025] This internal opening control is in particular an opening handle arranged in a conventional manner in an area easily accessible to a passenger seated at the front of the vehicle, namely closer to the front rebate of the front opening than to its rear rebate.

[0026] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the control member electrically controls the locking means.

[0027] The control member is in particular a push button actuated by the actuating means. Alternatively, the control member takes the form of a magnetic detector, for example a Hall effect sensor.

[0028] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the control member mechanically controls the locking means.

[0029] The control member controls, for example, the locking means by means of a cable and rod system.

[0030] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, the opening device comprises a means of time shift between the actuation of the control member and the actuation of the locking member.

[0031] This time shift means makes it possible to ensure that, when the openings move from their first position to their second position, the front opening opens before the rear opening. Otherwise, the opening of the rear opening would be prevented by the front opening which is engaged with it.

[0032] The invention further relates to a method for opening the openings of a motor vehicle as mentioned previously, comprising a first step of actuating the control member then a second step of actuating the locking member.

[0033] The first and second actuation steps are both implemented by the actuation means. A processing delay between the first actuation step and the second actuation step is for example of the order of a few tenths of a second, so that the front opening is opened first and the rear opening is opened second. The processing delay is in particular achieved by the time shift means of the opening device.

[0034] Other characteristics, details and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly on reading the description which follows on the one hand, and examples of embodiment given for informational and non-limiting purposes with reference to the appended drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0035] [Fig-1] illustrates, schematically, a profile view of a motor vehicle according to the invention, having two opposing openings, one opening at the front and one opening at the rear;

[0036] [Fig.2] illustrates, schematically, the opposing openings seen from the inside of the motor vehicle of [Fig.l], these opposing openings being represented according to a first embodiment;

[0037] [Fig.3] illustrates, schematically, the opposing openings seen from the inside of the motor vehicle of [Fig.l], these opposing openings being represented according to a second embodiment;

[0038] [Fig.4] illustrates, schematically, the rear opening of the vehicle according to the second embodiment, seen from inside the motor vehicle of [Fig.l].

[0039] The features, variants and different embodiments of the invention may be combined with each other, in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be imagined comprising only a selection of features described below in isolation from the other features described, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.

[0040] In the figures, the elements common to several figures retain the same reference.

[0041] In the detailed description which follows, the terms “longitudinal”, “vertical” and “transverse” refer to the orientation of the motor vehicle according to the invention. A longitudinal direction corresponds to a main direction of extension of the motor vehicle, this longitudinal direction being parallel to a longitudinal axis L of a reference frame L, V, T illustrated in the figures. A vertical direction corresponds to a direction substantially perpendicular to a ground on which the motor vehicle rests, this vertical direction being parallel to a vertical axis V of the reference L, V, T and this vertical axis V being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L. Finally, a transverse direction corresponds to a direction parallel to a transverse axis T of the reference L, V, T, this transverse axis T being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L and to the vertical axis V.

[0042] [Fig.l] thus illustrates, schematically, a motor vehicle 1 according to the invention, this motor vehicle 1 being represented from the outside in a profile view. The motor vehicle 1 extends in a main extension direction which corresponds to a longitudinal direction L. The motor vehicle 1 is delimited, along this longitudinal direction, by a first longitudinal end 2 and a second longitudinal end 4. The first longitudinal end 2 corresponds to a front of the motor vehicle 1, in particular opposite a driving position of this motor vehicle 1, while the second longitudinal end 4 corresponds to its rear, opposite a trunk of the motor vehicle 1 for example.

[0043] The motor vehicle 1 comprises a body 6 which is a structural element on which rest openings 8, 10 of the motor vehicle 1. The motor vehicle 1 comprises, as these openings 8, 10, at least one front opening 8 and one rear opening 10. It is understood that the front opening 8 is closer to the first longitudinal end 4 than the rear opening 10, and conversely that this rear opening 10 is closer to the second longitudinal end 6 than the front opening 8. The motor vehicle 1 comprises more precisely two front openings 8 and two rear openings 10, arranged two by two on each lateral side of the motor vehicle 1. In what follows, the elements described in relation to a pair of openings 8, 10, i.e. a front opening 8 and a rear opening 10 arranged on a given lateral side, are applicable to the openings 8 and 10 arranged on the other side of the motor vehicle 1.

[0044] The openings 8, 10 are more specifically antagonistic openings, that is to say openings which open opposite one another and join in a central portion of the motor vehicle 1, such a central portion being appreciated relative to the longitudinal direction L. The openings 8, 10 are pivotally mounted on the body 6; thus, the front opening 8 has a pivot axis towards the first longitudinal end 2 of the motor vehicle 1, while the rear opening 10 has a pivot axis towards its second longitudinal end 4. Each of the openings 8, 10 pivots relative to the body 6 by means of hinges 12, which are illustrated in schematic form in [Fig.l].

[0045] Due to this pivoting of the openings 8, 10 relative to the body 6, the front opening and the rear opening 10 each have a first position in which they are closed and a second position in which they are open. The first position is thus a closed position and the second position an open position. considers here that the openings 8, 10 have a single closed position, and that they are in their open position as soon as they do not adopt this closed position. In the first position or closed position, the openings 8, 10 are locked relative to each other and / or relative to the body 6 of the motor vehicle 1.

[0046] Each of the openings 8, 10 comprises a front rebate 14 and a rear rebate 16, which correspond to edges of the opening 8. More particularly, the front opening 8 comprises a front rebate 14A facing the first longitudinal end 2 and a rear rebate 16A facing the second longitudinal end 4, and similarly the rear opening 10 has a front rebate 14B facing the first longitudinal end 2 and a rear rebate 16B facing the second longitudinal end 4.

[0047] The motor vehicle 1 does not have a center pillar between the openings 8, 10, so that in the first position of the openings 8, 10, the rear rebate 16A of the front opening 8 is thus opposite the front rebate 14B of the rear opening 10 and in contact with the latter. In addition, the front rebate 14A of the front opening 8 and the rear rebate 16B of the rear opening 10 carry the hinges 12 which allow the pivoting of each of these openings 8, 10.

[0048] According to the invention, the passage of the front opening 8 and the rear opening 10 from their first position to their second position is implemented by an opening device 18 for the openings 8, 10. Such an opening device 14 will now be described in relation to FIGS. 2 to 4. A first embodiment of this opening device 18 is illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 4, while a second embodiment is shown in [Fig.3].

[0049] The opening device 18 extends, at least partially, over both the front opening 8 and the rear opening 10. The opening device 18 is more specifically arranged, at least in part, within a thickness of the front opening 8 and the rear opening 10, that is to say between their internal faces which delimit a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle 1 and their external faces which correspond to an exterior bodywork of the motor vehicle 1. In Figures 2 and 3 in particular, for illustration purposes, the opening device 18 is shown in the foreground, that is to say in front of the openings 8, 10; it is understood that in reality, the opening device 18 is covered, at least partially, by fittings of these openings 8, 10.

[0050] The opening device 18 includes, at the rear flap 10, at least one locking member 20. More precisely, the opening device here includes, as this at least one locking member 20, both a first locking member 20A and a second locking member 20B, as can be seen in Figures 2 and 3. Within the rear flap 10, the first and second locking members 20A, 20B are opposed in a vertical direction V perpendicular to the ground on which the motor vehicle 1 rests. Thus, the first locking member 20A is arranged on an upper edge 22 of the rear opening 10 while the second locking member 20B is arranged on a lower edge 24 thereof, the lower edge 24 being closer to the ground than the upper edge 22. The locking members 20A, 20B are locks which make it possible to secure the rear opening 10 to the body 6 of the motor vehicle 1. Each of the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B is for this purpose engaged on the body 6 in the first position of the rear opening 10. The locking members 20A, 20B have, for example, bolts which engage in strikers of the body 6.

[0051] In a locked state of the locking members 20A, 20B, which corresponds to the first position or closed position of the rear opening 10, the locking members 20A, 20B are engaged on the body 6. Conversely, in an unlocked state of the locking members 20A, 20B, which corresponds to the second position or open position of the rear opening 10, the locking members 20A, 20B are not engaged on the body 6.

[0052] The locking members 20A, 20B are actuated by an actuating means 26 of the opening device 18. In other words, the actuating means 26 allows the locking members 20A, 20B to move from their locked state to their unlocked state. This actuating means 26 is arranged on the rear opening 10. It corresponds for example to an internal handle of the rear opening 10. The actuating means 26 is more particularly arranged closer to the front rebate 14B of the rear opening 10 than to its rear rebate 16B. Furthermore, the actuating means 26 is arranged in a central part of the rear opening 10 in the vertical direction V, i.e. at a distance from both the upper edge 22 and the lower edge 20.

[0053] In the first embodiment, i.e. the embodiment illustrated in [Fig.2] and [Fig.4], the actuating means 26 mechanically controls the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B. The actuating means 26 is for example connected to each of these locking members 20A, 20B by means of cables and sheaths as well as rods. The opening device 18 here comprises a first cable 28 mechanically and physically connecting the actuating means 26 to the first locking member 20A and a second cable 30 connecting this actuating means 26 to the second locking member 20B.

[0054] In the second embodiment, shown in [Fig. 3], the actuating means 26 electrically controls the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B, by means of an electrical system of the motor vehicle 1. In this second embodiment, either the opening device does not include the cables 28, 30, or these cables 28, 30 correspond to an emergency device in the event of a malfunction of the electrical system.

[0055] In addition to the at least one locking member 20, the actuating means 26 is configured to actuate a control member 32 of the opening device, this control member 32 itself controlling a locking means 34 of the opening device 18. Such control of the control member 32 by the actuating means 26 is in particular an electrical control. The locking means 34 is similar to the locking members 20 in that it corresponds to a lock for the front opening 8.

[0056] The locking means 34 is carried by the front opening 8, more particularly by its rear rebate 16A. The locking means 34 of the front opening 8 is engaged on the rear opening 10. It corresponds for example to a bolt which is housed in a striker 36 equipping the front rebate 14B of the rear opening 10, such a striker 36 being visible in [Fig.4]. In a locked state of the locking means 34, which corresponds to the first position or closed position of the front opening 8, this locking means 8 is engaged on the rear opening 10. Conversely, in an unlocked state of the locking means 34, which corresponds to the second position or open position of the rear opening 10, the locking means 34 is not engaged on the rear opening 10. It follows from the above that in the first position or closed position of the front opening 8, the latter is engaged in the rear opening 10.

[0057] As mentioned above, the locking means 34 of the front opening 8 is controlled by means of the control member 32. Depending on the embodiments, either the control member 32 electrically controls the locking means 34, or it controls it mechanically. When the control member 32 controls the locking means 34 electrically, this control member may be a push button or a magnetic detector, in particular a Hall effect sensor. On the contrary, when the control member 32 controls the locking means 34 mechanically, the control member 34 is for example connected to the locking means by means of a system of cables and rods.

[0058] When the control member 32 electrically controls the locking means 34, it can be arranged anywhere within the motor vehicle 1. Here, the control member 32 is arranged on the front opening 8. More precisely, the control member 32 is arranged closer to the rear rebate 16A of the front opening 8 than to its front rebate 14A. In the presence of mechanical control of the locking means 34, this makes it possible to reduce the size of the system of cables and rods connecting the control member 32 to this locking means 34 which is arranged within the rear rebate 16A of the front opening 8. The control member 32 is furthermore arranged in a central part of the front opening 8 relative to the vertical direction V. The control member 32 carried by the front opening 8 is therefore substantially opposite the actuation means 26 carried by the rear opening 10, so as to facilitate actuation of the control member 32 by the actuation means 26.

[0059] The front opening 8 further comprises an internal opening control 38, which corresponds to a door handle internal to the motor vehicle 1 which can be used by a driver or front passenger of the motor vehicle 1 to move the front opening 8 from its first position to its second position. More precisely, the internal opening control 38 is configured to move the locking means 34 from its locked state in which it is engaged in the rear opening 10 to its unlocked state.

[0060] This internal opening control 38 is arranged closer to the front rebate 14A of the front opening panel 8 than to its rear rebate 16A when a front seat of the motor vehicle 1 is oriented towards the first longitudinal direction 2 thereof, and conversely the internal opening control 38 is closer to the rear rebate 16A of the front opening panel 8 than to the front rebate 14A when the front seat is oriented towards the second longitudinal direction 4.

[0061] The internal opening control 38 is distinct from the opening device 18 in that it can be actuated independently of the latter to unlock the locking means 34. In this way, the front opening 8 moves from its first position to its second position while the rear opening 10 remains in its first position. In other words, the internal opening control 38 allows the front opening 8 only to be opened.

[0062] In certain embodiments of the invention, the motor vehicle 1 is equipped with a device for managing contact between the openings 8, 10 when these openings 8, 10 move from their first position to their second position. The contact management device is intended to manage the friction between the front opening 8 and the rear opening 10. The contact management device 18 comprises for this purpose two portions each arranged on one of the openings 8, 10, with more precisely an elastically deformable portion secured to one of the openings 8, 10 and a friction portion secured to the other opening 8, 10. The elastically deformable portion and the friction portion are in contact with each other in the first position or closed position of the openings 8, 10, and they cooperate with each other when the openings 8, 10 move from their first position to their second position or open position.Such cooperation makes it possible to limit the risks of deterioration of the openings 8, 10 in contact with each other, in particular during friction of the . rear rebate 16A of the front opening 8 against the front rebate 14B of the rear opening 10.

[0063] The elastically deformable portion makes it possible to move the rear rebate 16A away from the front opening 8 and / or the front rebate 14B away from the rear opening 10 of the body 6, by pivoting the openings 8, 10 around their pivot points thanks to their hinges 12 arranged respectively at the level of the front rebate 14A for the front opening 8 and the rear rebate 16B for the rear opening 10.

[0064] A deformation of the elastically deformable portion corresponds to its passage from a first rest configuration to a second retracted configuration, and conversely to its passage from the second retracted configuration to the first rest configuration. The elastically deformable portion is for example an ejection finger at one end of which is arranged a rotating roller intended to roll against the friction portion, or even a spring blade.

[0065] A method of opening the openings 8, 10 by the opening device 18 of the motor vehicle 1 according to the invention will now be described. Such an opening method makes it possible to move both the front opening 8 and the rear opening 10 from their first position to their second position, in a simplified manner for a passenger seated at the rear of the motor vehicle 1.

[0066] The method of opening the openings 8, 10 begins with a step of manipulation, by a user of the motor vehicle 1, of the actuating means 26. When this actuating means 26 is an interior handle of the rear opening 10, this corresponds in particular to pulling this interior handle.

[0067] Manipulating the actuating means 26 causes a first step of actuating the control member 32, which is followed by a second step of actuating the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B concomitantly. Thus, manipulating the actuating means 26 initially allows the control member 32 to be actuated, which controls the locking means of the front opening leaf 8 to move it from its locked state to its unlocked state and thereby release the front opening leaf 8 from the rear opening leaf. In other words, the front opening leaf 8 moves from its first closed position to its second open position. Secondly, manipulating the actuating means 26 allows the at least one locking member 20 to be actuated, here the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B, which are both actuated at the same time. This actuation causes them to move from their locked state to their unlocked state, and by extension allows the rear opening 10 to move from its first closed position to its second open position.

[0068] By way of example, when manipulating the inner handle corresponding to the actuation means 26 of the rear opening 10, it first acts at the start of travel on the push button corresponding to the control member 32, and then in a continuation of travel it pulls both on the first cable 28 and the second cable 30 to unlock respectively the first locking member 20A and the second locking member 20B.

[0069] The front opening leaf 8 being engaged on the rear opening leaf 10 when they are both in the first position, the actuation order of the control member 32 and the locking members 20A, 20B cannot be modified. Otherwise, if the locking members 20A, 20B are actuation prior to that of the control member 32, the opening leaves 8, 10 could not open. To ensure that an actuation order of the control member 32 before the locking members 20A, 20B is respected, the opening device 18 comprises for example a means of time shifting between the actuation of the control member 32 and the locking members 20A, 20B. Such a time shift means, or timer, makes it possible in particular to delay the actuation of the locking members 20A, 20B by a few tenths of a second relative to the actuation of the control member 32.

[0070] Once the control member 32 and the locking members 20A, 20B have been actuated by the actuating means 26, both these locking members 20A, 20B and the locking means 34 of the front opening leaf 8 are in their unlocked state. The front opening leaf 8 and the rear opening leaf 10 are then still in contact with each other; for example, the opening leaves 8, 10 have an opening angle of between 5 and 10°. The rear passenger can push the rear opening 10 to push out the front opening 8 and exit the motor vehicle 1. Alternatively, the motor vehicle 1 comprises a system for motorizing the openings 8, 10, so that as soon as the openings 8, 10 have moved from their first position to their second position, a continuation of the opening travel of the openings 8, 10 is managed in a motorized manner. This makes it possible to limit the efforts required by the user of the motor vehicle 1 to open the openings 8, 10.

[0071] For the embodiments in which the motor vehicle 1 is equipped with the device for managing contact between the openings 8, 10, during the transition from the first position of the openings 8, 10 to their second position the passenger pushes on the opening 8, 10 next to which he is seated. For a rear passenger, the push is made on the rear opening 10. The rear opening 10 then pushes the front opening 8, the elastically deformable portion rubbing against the friction portion. During such friction, the elastically deformable portion is in its second retracted configuration. When the push of the rear opening 10 on the front opening 8 is sufficient, the openings 8, 10 separate from each other. In the absence of stress or pressure exerted against the friction portion, the elastically deformable portion returns to its first rest configuration. The passenger can then extract himself from the motor vehicle 1.

[0072] The present invention thus provides a motor vehicle in which an opening of a front opening and a rear opening, which are antagonistic, is carried out by means of an actuation means easily accessible to a rear passenger user of the motor vehicle, such an actuation means allowing the opening of both the front opening and the rear opening.

[0073] The present invention cannot, however, be limited to the means and configurations described and illustrated here and it also extends to any equivalent means and configuration as well as to any technically operative combination of such means.
