Description

Title of the invention: Refrigerated bodywork for a road vehicle for transporting goods equipped with a partition wall

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of refrigerated bodies intended to be mounted, for example, on the chassis of road goods transport vehicles such as trucks, semi-trailers, trailers or carriers.

[0002] The interior loading space of a refrigerated body is delimited by two opposite vertical sides, a floor, a ceiling or roof and a front face. The interior loading space has a rear access located opposite the front face and the body is provided with a device for closing this rear access. This closing device may comprise a door with one or more leaves or a sliding curtain.

[0003] A refrigerated body allows the transport of goods or perishable goods that need to be kept at a constant temperature, generally lower than the outside temperature. For this purpose, the body includes a refrigeration unit or machine for sending air at a regulated temperature inside the loading space.

[0004] For a refrigerated body, it may be necessary to compartmentalize the loading space given the large volume of this space. In addition, this makes it possible to have several compartments that can be maintained at different temperatures, for example for the transport of different families of goods. This is referred to as “multi-temperature” operation of the refrigerated body.

[0005] To achieve this compartmentalization, at least one partition is generally used, which is hinged and rotatable under the roof of the bodywork and movable between a storage position along said roof and a folded-down position for use in which it extends vertically to the floor. The compartmentalization partition is also mounted to slide inside the loading space of the bodywork so that it can be positioned in the desired longitudinal position. To ensure the sliding and rotating mounting of the partition, a guide and articulation mechanism is provided connecting this partition to the roof of the bodywork.

[0006] The compartmentalization partition is equipped with a compartmentalization wall and peripheral sealing joints to ensure good thermal insulation between the compartments delimited inside the bodywork by the partition in its position of use.

[0007] Conventionally, the peripheral seals of the compartmentalization partition are made in one piece and bonded to the compartmentalization wall. The seals are subjected to friction against the sides, the floor and the ceiling of the bodywork, which causes them to wear. In addition, the peripheral seals tend to freeze in contact with these walls of the bodywork, which increases their wear and can lead to them tearing. This significantly degrades their effectiveness or makes them inoperative.

[0008] In practice, replacing the seals requires at least the dismantling of the partition wall, or even the dismantling of the partition wall and the associated guide and articulation mechanism.

[0009] These operations must be carried out by qualified labor, but above all they result in the immobilization of the vehicle equipped with the bodywork, which results in a loss of operation and a particularly high cost.

[0010] The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks.

[0011] The subject of the invention is a refrigerated bodywork for a road vehicle for transporting goods comprising two vertical sides, a roof and a floor assembled together and forming the walls of said bodywork which partly delimit an interior loading space, and at least one partition wall movable longitudinally inside the interior loading space and movable between a storage position and a position of use for the compartmentalization of the loading space.

[0012] The “longitudinal” direction relating to the movement of said compartmentalization partition is used by considering the direction of the length of the bodywork.

[0013] Said compartmentalization partition comprises a compartmentalization wall and a plurality of sealing gaskets mounted on the periphery of the compartmentalization wall to form a peripheral sealing belt.

[0014] According to a general characteristic, at least one of the sealing joints of said compartmentalization partition comprises a base fixed to the compartmentalization wall, and a sealing gasket fixed to the base in a removable manner.

[0015] Said sealing gasket is thus produced in several parts, including the sealing gasket which can be separated from the base to be replaced in the event of wear. The replacement of the sealing gasket can be carried out directly inside the bodywork without dismantling the partition wall or the associated guide and articulation mechanism.

[0016] Furthermore, with the design of said seal, it becomes possible to provide a rigid base and a seal that is at least partly flexible. This makes it possible to improve the fixing of the seal to the partition wall of the partition, and the seal with the wall of the bodywork, or with the other partition, against which the gasket is in frictional contact.

[0017] According to one embodiment, the base and the sealing gasket of said seal are made at least partly from two different materials. According to another embodiment, the base and the gasket may be made from the same material but have a different Shore A hardness. For information, it is possible in this case to use PVC.

[0018] When the bodywork is equipped with a single partition wall, the sealing gasket of said sealing gasket comes into contact against one of the walls of said bodywork in the position of use of the partition wall.

[0019] When the bodywork is equipped with several partition walls, the sealing gasket of said sealing joint comes into contact against one of the walls of said bodywork or against the other partition.

[0020] The base of said sealing gasket may at least partially cover an edge of the compartmentalization wall. In one embodiment, the base of said sealing gasket is mounted to bear against said edge of the compartmentalization wall. Alternatively, the base may remain at a distance from said edge.

[0021] Advantageously, the retention of the sealing gasket relative to the base of said sealing joint is achieved by complementary shape of the sealing gasket and the base. The retention is carried out in a direction perpendicular to the direction of sliding of the sealing gasket inside the groove.

[0022] For this purpose, the base of said seal may be provided with at least one rib extending projecting inside a complementary part of the seal and comprising at least one attachment element cooperating therewith.

[0023] Alternatively, the sealing gasket may be provided with said rib, said attachment element of which cooperates with the base.

[0024] According to an advantageous design, the base of said sealing joint delimits, on the side opposite the edge of the compartmentalizing wall, at least one groove extending along said edge and inside which the sealing gasket is slidably engaged. Said groove has at least one longitudinal end open towards the outside.

[0025] The “longitudinal” direction relative to the end of the groove is used by considering the direction of the length of this groove.

[0026] This design allows the sealing gasket to be assembled onto the mounting base by sliding from the open longitudinal end of the groove. This further facilitates the operations of replacing the sealing gasket inside the bodywork.

[0027] Alternatively, it remains possible to provide another method of assembling the sealing gasket of said seal on the base, for example by clipping.

[0028] The sealing gasket of said seal may be provided with an engaged fixing portion fixed to the base of said seal in a removable manner, and at least one sealing lip extending projecting from the fixing portion on the side opposite the compartmentalizing wall. The sealing lip(s) may extend from the fixing portion.

[0029] In a particular embodiment, the fixing part of the sealing gasket is rigid and said sealing lip is flexible. This makes it possible to obtain a good compromise between the fixing of the sealing gasket on the base and the sealing with the associated wall or partition. The rigid fixing part and said sealing lip can be made of the same material or of different materials.

[0030] The fixing portion of the sealing gasket can be slidably engaged inside said groove of the base of said sealing gasket.

[0031] In a particular embodiment, the fixing part of the sealing gasket comprises at least one groove inside which said rib of the base engages in a sliding manner.

[0032] Alternatively, it is possible to provide an inverted arrangement of the groove and of said rib by providing them respectively on the base and on the fixing part of the sealing gasket.

[0033] Preferably, the base of said seal is provided with a bottom wall extending at least partly along an edge of the compartmentalizing wall. The bottom wall may partly delimit said groove.

[0034] Advantageously, the base of said sealing joint may further be provided with two front wings extending the bottom wall and extending towards the compartmentalization wall. Each wing may be continuous or discontinuous in the direction of its length.

[0035] According to a first design, the two front wings of the base of said sealing joint are respectively mounted to bear against opposite main faces of the compartmentalization wall delimiting the thickness of said wall.

[0036] According to a second alternative design, the two front wings of the base are embedded inside the thickness of the compartmentalization wall. Thus, the front wings of the base fulfill a function as a structural element of the partition. This makes it possible to stiffen the partition.

[0037] In one embodiment, the base and the sealing gasket of said sealing joint leave at least one empty space between them. This space makes it possible to accommodate one or more screw heads if the fixing of the base of the sealing joint to the wall of the partition is carried out by screwing. Said empty space can be provided between the base and the sealing gasket of said sealing joint.

[0038] The peripheral sealing belt formed by the plurality of sealing joints of said compartmentalization partition may be continuous or discontinuous along the periphery of the compartmentalization wall.

[0039] The refrigerated body comprises a refrigerating machine for controlling the temperature inside the loading space. The refrigerating machine is fixed to one of the walls of the body.

[0040] The term "refrigerating machine" means a machine for sending a gas at a controlled temperature into the loading space of the bodywork. The refrigerating machine may, for example, be a refrigerating machine with a thermal engine, a refrigerating machine with an electric motor, a hybrid refrigerating machine or a refrigerating machine operating on the principle of cryogenics, for example with nitrogen or carbon dioxide.

[0041] The present invention will be better understood on reading the detailed description of embodiments taken as non-limiting examples and illustrated by the appended drawings in which:

[0046] [Fig.5] is a sectional view of the seal of [Fig.4], and

[0047] [Fig.6]

[0048] [Fig.7] are sectional views of sealing joints of compartmentalization partitions according to other exemplary embodiments of the invention.

[0049] In Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a refrigerated body, referenced 10 in its entirety, mounted on a chassis 12 carrying a road transport vehicle extending longitudinally and equipped with wheels.

[0050] The bodywork 10 comprises two opposite vertical sides 14 extending longitudinally (only one being visible in the figures), a ceiling or roof 16, a floor 18, a front face 20 and a rear frame called a quarter panel (not visible) which are assembled together. The vertical sides 14, the roof 16, the floor 18 and the front face 20 form the walls of said bodywork which delimit an interior loading space 22.

[0051] In a manner known per se, the bodywork 10 also comprises a device (not referenced) for closing a rear opening or access to the interior loading space. The device may be a door with one or more hinged rotating leaves. or even a sliding curtain.

[0052] The bodywork 10 also comprises a refrigeration unit or machine 24 for sending air at a regulated temperature into the loading space 22. The air is extracted from the loading space 22 by the refrigeration machine 24 and, after bringing it up to temperature, reinjected into this space. The refrigeration machine 24 is fixed here on the front face 20 of the bodywork outside the loading space. Alternatively, it is possible to mount the refrigeration machine 24 on one of the other walls of the bodywork 10, for example on the roof 16 or on the floor 18.

[0053] The bodywork 10 also comprises partitions 26 for partitioning the interior loading space 22 which are provided to delimit two compartments inside said space. Each partition 26 extends transversely considering the length direction of the bodywork 10.

[0054] Each partition 26 is mounted on the roof 16. Each partition 26 is rotatable between a raised storage or stowage position along the roof 16 ([Fig.l]) and a lowered separation or use position ([Fig.2]) in which two compartments are delimited longitudinally on either side of the partitions 26 inside the loading space 22. The partitions 26 extend vertically to the floor 18 in the lowered use position. Each partition 26 extends transversely between the sides 14.

[0055] As illustrated in [Fig. 3], in the illustrated embodiment, the bodywork 10 comprises two transverse partitions 26 to create two separate front and rear compartments within the interior loading space 22. The partitions 26 are identical. Alternatively, the bodywork 10 may comprise a single partition 26 extending transversely from one side 14 to the other opposite side 14, or three partitions.

[0056] A handling strap 28 is provided on each partition 26 to be able to manually move from the lowered position to the raised storage position.

[0057] Each partition 26 is also slidably mounted inside the loading space of the bodywork so as to be able to be positioned in this space in the desired longitudinal position.

[0058] To ensure the sliding and rotating mounting of each partition 26, a mechanism 30 is provided for guiding and articulating the latter. Each mechanism 30 comprises a guide rail (not visible) fixed to the roof of the bodywork, and a carriage 32 slidably mounted inside the rail and supporting the associated partition 26. The carriage 32 makes it possible to position the associated partition 26 in the interior loading space of the bodywork in the desired longitudinal position. Each mechanism 30 also comprises two arms (not referenced) articulated for rotation on the carriage 32 around a horizontal axis for the support and rotary mounting of the associated partition 26. The arms of each mechanism 30 are fixed to the associated partition 26 in the upper part thereof.

[0059] Each partition 26 comprises a panel or wall 40 to provide the separation or compartmentalization function of said partition. The wall 40 of each partition is provided with two opposite main faces delimiting the thickness thereof. In the lowered position of use of the partition 26, these opposite main faces form rear and front faces of the wall 40. In the illustrated embodiment, the front and rear faces of the wall 40 are flat. The wall 40 is of constant thickness.

[0060] The wall 40 of each partition is also provided with two lateral edges and two transverse edges. Each transverse edge extends between two ends of the lateral edges. In the lowered position of use of the partition 26, the lateral edges extend vertically and the transverse edges extend horizontally and form upper and lower edges. The lateral edges of the wall 40 delimit the partition in the transverse direction and the transverse edges delimit the height of the partition.

[0061] Each partition 26 also comprises sealing gaskets 42 to 48 mounted on the periphery of the partitioning wall 40 so as to form a peripheral sealing belt. The upper sealing gasket 42 is fixed to the upper edge of the wall 40, and the lower sealing gasket 44 is fixed to the lower edge. The lateral sealing gaskets 46, 48 are fixed to the lateral edges of the wall 40.

[0062] The sealing joints 44 to 48 completely cover the associated lower and lateral edges of the wall 40. In the illustrated embodiment, the upper sealing joint 42 is discontinuous so as to leave a space for fixing the arms of the mechanism 30 to the compartmentalization wall 40.

[0063] In the lowered position of each partition 26, the upper seals 42 and 44 are respectively in contact against the roof and the floor 18. In this lowered position, the lateral seal 46 of one partition and the lateral seal 48 of the other partition are in contact against the sides 14, and the other two lateral seals 48, 46 come into contact with each other. If the bodywork 10 is equipped with a single partition 26, each lateral seal 46, 48 is in contact against one of the sides 14.

[0064] With reference to Figures 4 and 5, only the upper sealing joint 42 of one of the partitions 26 located will now be described, it being understood that the other joints 44 to 48 of this partition as well as the joints of the other partition 26 are of identical design.

[0065] The sealing gasket 42 comprises a base 50 fixed to the wall (not shown) of the partition, and a sealing gasket 52 coming into contact against the roof of the bodywork.

[0066] The sealing gasket 52 is fixed to the base 50 in a removable manner. The gasket 52 can thus be separated from the base 50. The sealing gasket 52 is fixed only to the base 50. In other words, there is no direct fixing between the gasket 52 and the wall 40 of the partition. The gasket 52 is fixed to the wall 40 via the base 50.

[0067] The base 50 of the sealing gasket is fixed to the associated transverse edge of the wall 40. The base 50 ensures the fixing of the sealing gasket 42 to the wall 40. The base 50 is provided with a bottom wall 54 mounted to bear against the associated transverse edge of the wall 40. The bottom wall 54 extends along the transverse edge. Preferably, the bottom wall 54 extends over the entire length of the lateral edge. The bottom wall 54 also covers the entire transverse of the lateral edge of the wall 40.

[0068] The base 50 is further provided with two front end flanges 56, 58 extending the bottom wall 54 and extending on the side opposite the wall of the partition. The flanges 56, 58 extend along the bottom wall 54. Preferably, the flanges 56, 58 extend over the entire length of the bottom wall 54. In the lowered position of the partition, the flanges 56, 58 form front and rear flanges.

[0069] On the base 50 is delimited a groove 60 inside which the sealing gasket 52 is engaged. The groove 60 extends along the bottom wall 54 and the associated transverse edge of the wall 40. The groove 60 is open towards the outside on the side opposite the wall of the partition. The groove 60 is also open towards the outside at each longitudinal end of the base 50.

[0070] The groove 60 is delimited by the bottom wall 54 and by the edges 56, 58. In the illustrated embodiment, the groove has a U-shape in section. Alternatively, it is possible to provide other shapes for the groove, for example a V-shape.

[0071] The base 50 of the seal is also provided with two front wings 62, 64 extending the bottom wall 54 and extending on the side of the partition wall. The wings 62, 64 extend along the bottom wall 54. Preferably, the wings 62, 64 extend over the entire length of the bottom wall 54. In the lowered position of the partition, the wings 62, 64 form front and rear wings. In the illustrated embodiment, the wings 62, 64 are respectively provided to be pressed against the front and rear faces of the partition wall. The bottom wall 54 and the wings 62, 64 form a mounting frame for the base on the partition wall.

[0072] The sealing gasket 52 is slidably engaged inside the groove 60 of the base. During assembly, the sealing gasket 52 is slidably mounted inside the groove 60 of the base. During this assembly, the sealing gasket 52 is introduced inside the groove 60 by one of its ex longitudinal ends. In the event of wear of the sealing gasket 52, it is removed from the groove 60 of the base also by sliding.

[0073] The base 50 of the seal is also provided with two ribs 66, 68 extending inside the groove 60 along the latter. The ribs 66, 68 are spaced apart from each other. The ribs 66, 68 extend projecting from the bottom wall 54. The ribs 66, 68 extend transversely relative to the bottom wall 54. In the illustrated embodiment, there are two ribs 66, 68. Alternatively, it is possible to provide a different number of ribs, for example a single rib or three ribs.

[0074] In order to ensure the lateral retention of the sealing gasket 52 relative to the base 50, each rib 66, 68 is provided with opposite hooking edges 70, 72 extending transversely and projecting relative to said rib. The hooking edges 70, 72 are provided at the free end of the associated rib 66, 68. Each rib 66, 68 and the associated hooking edges 70, 72 form a means for retaining the sealing gasket 52. Each rib 66, 68 and the associated edges 70, 72 cooperate with the sealing gasket 52 to ensure its retention relative to the base.

[0075] The sealing gasket 52 of the joint is provided with a fixing part 74 slidably engaged inside the groove 60 of the base, and sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 extending projecting relative to the fixing part 74 on the side opposite the wall 40 of the partition. The sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 are integral with the fixing part 74.

[0076] As will be described below, in the illustrated embodiment, the fixing part 74 and the sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 of the seal gasket are made of different materials.

[0077] The sealing lips 76 to 80 extend from the fixing portion 74. The sealing lips 76 to 80 come into frictional contact with the roof of the bodywork. The thickness of each sealing lip 76 to 80 decreases towards its free end. This promotes the deformable nature of the sealing lips 76 to 80 when they come into contact with the roof of the bodywork.

[0078] In the illustrated embodiment, each sealing lip 76 to 80 comprises, at its free end, a spherical protuberance 76a to 80a of increased thickness compared to the immediately adjacent zone of the sealing lip. The protuberances 76a to 80a make it possible to limit linear contacts with the roof of the bodywork and thus minimize wear.

[0079] In the illustrated embodiment, the sealing gasket 52 is provided with three sealing lips 76 to 80. Alternatively, it is possible to provide a different number of lips, for example one or two lips, or more than three lips.

[0080] The fixing portion 74 of the seal gasket cooperates by form complementarity with the base 50 to ensure the lateral retention of the seal gasket inside the groove 60. The fixing portion 74 cooperates by form complementarity with the ribs 66, 68 and the attachment edges 70, 72 of the base. For this purpose, in the illustrated embodiment, the fixing portion 74 comprises two grooves 82, 84 inside each of which one of the ribs 66, 68 engages in a sliding manner. The attachment edges 70, 72 ensure the lateral retention of the seal gasket inside the groove 60 of the base. The shape of the groove 82, 84 is complementary to those of the rib 66, 68 and the attachment edges 70, 72.

[0081] In the illustrated embodiment, the bottom wall 54 of the base and the fixing part 74 of the sealing gasket of the seal leave between them inside the groove 60 an empty space 86 which extends longitudinally. This space 86 makes it possible to accommodate one or more screw heads if the fixing of the base 50 of the sealing gasket to the wall of the partition is carried out by screwing the bottom wall 54.

[0082] As indicated previously, in the illustrated embodiment, the fixing part 74 and the sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 of the seal gasket are made of different materials.

[0083] The fixing part 74 is made of rigid material and the sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 are made of flexible material. For information purposes, the fixing part 74 may be made of PVC and the sealing lips 76, 78 and 80 of elastomer, for example TPE. The sealing gasket 52 of the seal may be made by coextrusion. Alternatively, however, it remains possible to make the sealing gasket 52 of the seal from a single material.

[0084] The base 50 of the sealing gasket is made of rigid material. For information purposes, the base 50 may be made of PVC.

[0085] The embodiment illustrated in [Fig. 6], in which identical elements bear the same references, differs from the previous embodiment by the design of the base 50 and the sealing gasket 52 of the seal. In this example, each rib 66, 68 is provided with a single attachment rim 70, 72 and the shape of the fixing part 74 of the sealing gasket is modified accordingly.

[0086] The embodiment illustrated in [Fig.7], in which the identical elements bear the same references, differs from the first example in particular by the design of the base 50 of the sealing joint.

[0087] In this exemplary embodiment, two grooves 100, 102 are delimited on the base 50 inside which the sealing gasket 52 is slidingly engaged.

[0088] Each groove 100, 102 extends along the bottom wall 54 and the associated lateral edge of the partition wall. Each groove 100, 102 is open towards the outside on the side opposite the wall 40. Each groove 100, 102 is also open towards the outside at each longitudinal end of the base 50. During assembly, the sealing gasket 52 is introduced inside each groove 100, 102 at one of its longitudinal ends.

[0089] In this exemplary embodiment, the base 50 further comprises a front wall 104 offset outwardly relative to the bottom wall 54 and extending along this front wall. The front wall 104 is spaced apart and parallel to the bottom wall 54. The front wall 104 is connected to the flanges 56, 58.

[0090] The base 50 further comprises two pairs of internal partitions 106, 108 extending transversely between the front 104 and bottom 54 walls while being connected to said walls.

[0091] The groove 100 is delimited by the bottom wall 54 and by the internal partitions 106, and opens onto the front wall 104. In an identical manner, the groove 102 is delimited by the bottom wall 54 and by the internal partitions 108, and opens onto the front wall 104.

[0092] In this embodiment, the ribs 66, 68 are provided on the fixing portion 74 of the seal. The rib 66, 68 extends inside the groove 100, 102 of the base along the latter. The ribs 66, 68 extend projecting from the fixing portion 74 of the seal. The ribs 66, 68 extend transversely relative to the fixing portion 74. The lateral retention of the seal 52 relative to the base 50 is achieved by the cooperation of the flanges 70, 72 of the ribs with the front wall 104. In this embodiment, the fixing portion 74 covers the flanges 56, 58 and a portion of the wings 62, 64.

[0093] In the illustrated embodiments, as indicated previously, the wings 62, 64 of the base of the seal are respectively pressed against the front and rear faces of the wall of the partition. Alternatively, it could be possible to provide for embedding the wings 62, 64 of the base of the sealing seal inside the thickness of the wall of the partition wall.

[0094] The invention has been illustrated by way of example on the basis of a body of a road transport vehicle of the semi-trailer type. The invention is also applicable to a body of a road transport vehicle of the carrier, truck or trailer type.
