Description

Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A FRONT BUMPER HELD LATERALLY BY AN LIGHT UNIT Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of motor vehicles, more particularly the field of motor vehicle bumpers. Prior art

[0002] The evolution of the style of current motor vehicles gives rise to more protruding shapes, appreciated by motorists, in particular at the level of the optical blocks which can, for example, have a shape presenting a hollow zone formed by rectilinear portions of the glass which has at least one peak requiring its covering by the bumper skin.

[0003] However, such a design complicates the assembly of the bumper skin on the motor vehicle, since it is necessary to guarantee good clearance and final flushness of the edges of the bumper skin with the optical unit, while ensuring durable retention of said bumper skin.

[0004] The published patent document FR 3 040 666 A1 discloses an optical unit for a motor vehicle intended to be embedded in an opening made in a bumper skin of said vehicle, said optical unit comprising a housing having an upper part comprising projecting support members configured to exert pressure against an internal face of the bumper skin.

[0005] However, the solution presented by the document has room for improvement, because although it makes it possible to obtain a flush fit of a rectilinear edge of the bumper skin with the optical unit, it does not make it possible to guarantee an optimal flush fit of the edges of a bumper skin with the glass of an optical unit having a hollow shape forming a top. Statement of the invention

[0006] The present invention aims to overcome at least one of the drawbacks of the aforementioned state of the art. More particularly, the invention aims to propose a simple, efficient and economical solution making it possible to ensure lasting support and optimal flushness of the edges of a bumper wall with an optical unit of a motor vehicle.

[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising: - two optical units each comprising a housing and a glass fixed to the housing; - a bumper wall mounted on the motor vehicle by means of a reinforcement forming a lining of the bumper wall, said bumper wall comprising at each lateral end an edge directly adjacent to the corresponding window; remarkable in that the reinforcement comprises, under each of the two edges of the bumper wall directly adjacent to the windows, an area engaging with an extension of the corresponding optical unit.

[0008] According to one embodiment, the extension of each of the two optical blocks is a rib extending, preferably horizontally, from the housing or the corresponding glass.

[0009] According to one embodiment, each of the reinforcement engagement zones forms a cavity capable of receiving a clip capable of engaging with the extension of the corresponding optical unit.

[0010] According to one embodiment, each of the clips has a U-shaped section engaging with the extension of the corresponding optical block, said U-shaped section comprising at least one engagement retaining tab in contact with said extension.

[0011] According to one embodiment, each of the clips has a horizontal engagement direction inclined relative to a longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle, by an angle of between 30° and 60°.

[0012] According to one embodiment, the extension comprises a flat end receiving the staple, and the housing comprising a hollow portion formed around said flat end, providing clearance for the reinforcement.

[0013] According to one embodiment, each of the two edges directly adjacent to the two windows comprises two rectilinear portions forming an angle of between 100° and 170°, so as to form a profile with a vertex.

[0014] According to one embodiment, each of the reinforcement engagement zones is located at the top of the edge directly adjacent to the corresponding ice.

[0015] According to one embodiment, the extension is located at a junction between a side face and a front or rear face of the motor vehicle.

[0016] According to one embodiment, the extension is at most 40 mm away from the glass.

[0017] The measures of the invention are advantageous in that the engagement of the extension of the optical block with the reinforcement engagement zone ensures good play and optimal flushness of the edge of the adjacent bumper wall with the optical block glass, so as to comply with increasingly demanding stylistic constraints.

[0018] The present invention makes it possible to obtain assemblies of complex shapes, thus improving the style and quality of the motor vehicle, while ensuring rigid and durable support of the bumper wall on the motor vehicle.

[0019] Furthermore, the motor vehicle of the invention does not require the addition of additional parts. additional, thus presenting a reduction in manufacturing costs, and facilitating the operations of assembly and disassembly of the bumper wall on the motor vehicle. [0023] [Fig.4] represents a sectional view along the axis AA of the assembly of [Fig.l];

[0024] [Fig.5] represents a sectional view along the axis BB of the assembly of [Fig.l]; Detailed description

[0025] [Fig.l] represents a perspective view of an assembly of a bumper wall 4 to an optical unit 6 of a motor vehicle 2 according to the invention.

[0026] The optical unit 6 illustrated here corresponds to a left front headlight of the vehicle 2, comprising a glass 6.1 and a housing fixed to the body of the motor vehicle 2 by means of a support not shown. Alternatively, the optical unit may correspond to a rear light of the motor vehicle 2.

[0027] The bumper wall 4 comprises at each of its two lateral ends, in the transverse direction Y, an edge 5 directly adjacent to the corresponding window 6.1.

[0028] It can be seen that the edge 5 comprises two rectilinear portions 5.1 and 5.2 forming an angle α of between 100° and 170°. In this configuration, the edge 5 forms a profile with a vertex 5.3. The present invention proposes a solution making it possible to guarantee the flushness of such a profile with the glass 6.1, while guaranteeing the rigidity of the hold of the bumper wall 4 on the motor vehicle 2. This solution will be detailed later in this description.

[0029] [Fig.2] represents an exploded and perspective view of the optical unit 6 and the bumper wall 4 of [Fig.1], as well as a reinforcement 8 forming a lining of said bumper wall.

[0030] The reinforcement 8 allows the bumper wall 4 to be mounted on the motor vehicle 2. Advantageously, the reinforcement 8 is a molded plastic part, comprising an engagement zone 8.1 provided with a cavity 8.2 engaging with a corresponding extension 6.2 of the optical unit 6.

[0031] The engagement zone 8.1 corresponds to a transverse extension of the reinforcement 8, said zone being configured to be arranged vertically under the edge 5 directly adjacent to the window 6.1. Preferably, when the bumper wall 4 is assembled on the vehicle, the engagement zone 8.1 of the reinforcement 8 is located substantially in line with the top 5.3 of the edge 5.

[0032] In this regard, the extension 6.2 is preferably located at most 40 mm from the glass, and more preferably located approximately 15 mm from the glass.

[0033] The extension 6.2 can be formed with the case 6.3 or the crystal 6.1. More preferably, the extension 6.2 corresponds to a rib 6.2 extending, preferably horizontally, from the case 6.3.

[0034] Preferably, the extension 6.2 is located at a junction between a lateral face 2.1 (visible in [Fig.l]) and a front face 2.2 or rear face of the motor vehicle 2.

[0035] The shape of the extension 6.2 of the optical block 6 can be observed in an enlarged view in [Fig.3].

[0036] With reference to [Fig. 3], the ribbed shape of the extension 6.2 can be seen, this advantageously comprising a flat end 6.4 on which a clip 10 engages.

[0037] Preferably, the flat end 6.4 is formed with the housing 6.3 and represents a continuity of the transverse extent of the rib 6.2, in a direction transversely external to the corresponding optical block.

[0038] The clip 10 is a metal or plastic part which preferably engages by clipping with the flat end 6.4 of the extension 6.2, by means of at least one retaining tab. Alternatively, the clip 10 can be directly fixed by gluing to the flat end 6.4.

[0039] Advantageously, the housing 6.3 comprises a hollow part 6.5 formed around the flat end 6.4, so as to ensure sufficient clearance for the engagement zone 8.1 of the reinforcement 8 during assembly of the bumper wall to the motor vehicle.

[0040] [Fig.4] shows a sectional view along axis AA of the assembly of [Fig.l]. Here, the bumper wall is mounted on the motor vehicle.

[0041] It can be observed that the clip 10 has a horizontal engagement direction inclined relative to the longitudinal direction X of the motor vehicle 2. Preferably, said inclination being between 30° and 60°, and more preferably being equal to approximately 45°.

[0042] Preferably, the cavity 8.2 of the engagement zone 8.1 has a total transverse extent D of between 20 and 50 mm. This advantageously allows the insertion of the flat end 6.4 into the cavity 8.2 in the longitudinal direction.

[0043] In fact, the mounting of the bumper wall 4 on the motor vehicle 2 is done in two movements represented by the arrows E1 and E2 in [Fig.4]. Namely, a first movement E1 of approach of the wall 4 and its reinforcement 8 towards the optical block 6, following the longitudinal direction X, followed by a second movement E2 of fixing by clipping of the engagement zone 8.2 with the extension 6.2, following a direction inclined by approximately 45° relative to the longitudinal axis X.

[0044] [Fig.5] represents a sectional view along the BB axis of the assembly of [Fig.l].

[0045] The U-shaped cross-section of the clip 10 can be observed, the latter being engaged both with the extension 6.2 and with the reinforcement 8 at the level of its cavity 8.2.

[0046] Advantageously, clipping the extension 6.2 with the reinforcement 8 makes it possible to guarantee optimal flushness and minimal play between the edge 5 of the bumper wall 4 and the glass 6.1, while guaranteeing adequate rigidity of the lateral hold of the bumper on the motor vehicle 2.
