Description

Title of the invention: SWINGING SHUTTER WITH PIVOTING PANEL Technical field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of hinged shutters intended to close an opening, for example formed in a wall of a dwelling. Technical background

[0002] Swinging shutters are used to close an opening in a home, in order to limit the passage of light beams through this opening.

[0003] Swinging shutters usually comprise a panel secured to a wall by means of a pivoting system, for example hinges.

[0004] In order to fold the hinged shutter over the opening, a user must usually lean across the opening to grasp one end of the hinged shutter, opposite the opening, so as to cause the hinged shutter to pivot until it covers the opening.

[0005] Such a maneuver can be dangerous and complex to implement, for example for children or elderly people.

[0006] In addition, the shutters represent an unusable surface whose current use is limited exclusively to that of an insulator, for example light, thermal or visual.

[0007] Thus, the invention provides an alternative to current hinged shutters, the security and use of which are improved.

[0008] Furthermore, the invention provides a hinged shutter whose accessibility for folding it over the opening is facilitated while allowing the use of its surface for example for fixing additional elements such as flower pots or shelves or solar panels, without this use of its surface hindering its use as insulation mentioned above. Summary of the invention

[0009] The invention proposes a hinged shutter configured to be movable in pivoting about a first axis of rotation, between a covering position and a position of uncovering an opening formed in a wall, the hinged shutter comprising at least one peripheral frame delimiting a housing for receiving a panel, the panel being movable in the frame at 180° about a second axis of rotation and such that the panel extends fully in the frame in a neutral position and in a pivoting position at 180° relative to the neutral position, a stop device extending between the panel and the frame so as to allow rotation of the panel in the frame at 180°.

[0010] The hinged shutter according to the invention thus provides security and insulation to the home.

[0011] The invention makes it possible, for example, to fix solar panels to the hinged shutter and to always keep them outside the housing.

[0012] According to other characteristics of the invention: - the second axis of rotation of the panel extends parallel to the first axis of rotation of the hinged shutter; - at least one gripping member of the hinged shutter is secured to the panel; - the gripping member is pivotally mounted relative to the panel, according to a pivot axis parallel to the second axis of rotation of the panel; - the gripping member takes the form of a handle block pivoting around the pivot axis and which extends into the panel; - the gripping member takes the form of a movable rod pivoting relative to the panel around the pivot axis, the rod extending outside the panel; - the stop device comprises a first rib which extends along the frame in the receiving housing, and a pair of second ribs which extend along the panel, opposite one another and such that they are able to cooperate alternately with the first rib, the ribs extending parallel to the second axis of rotation; - the panel comprises at least one face on which extends at least one element for fixing an additional element; - the panel is configured such that the face comprising the fixing elements of the additional element extends opposite the wall in the uncovered position of the hinged shutter and extends opposite the opening in the covering position of the hinged shutter.

[0013] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a wall provided with an opening and a hinged shutter according to any one of the preceding characteristics, the hinged shutter being configured such that it is capable of covering or uncovering the opening of the wall. [0029] For the description of the invention and the understanding of the claims, the vertical, longitudinal and transverse orientations according to the reference V, L, T indicated in the figures, the longitudinal L and transverse T axes of which extend in a horizontal plane, will be adopted as a non-limiting example and without limiting reference to Earth's gravity. By convention, the longitudinal axis L is oriented from the rear to the front.

[0030] In the following description, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numbers.

[0031] [Fig.l] illustrates a hinged shutter 10 according to a first example of the invention, configured to be movable in pivoting to cover or uncover an opening 12 formed in a wall.

[0032] The opening 12 is for example formed in a wall of a dwelling and can accommodate a window.

[0033] The hinged shutter 10 is then positioned on the periphery of the opening 12, being secured to the wall, for example via pivoting members 14 allowing it to pivot around a first axis of rotation A1, covering or uncovering the opening.

[0034] We then define an uncovering position of the hinged shutter, illustrated in [Fig.l], in which the hinged shutter 10 extends substantially against the wall, and a covering position of the hinged shutter, visible in [Fig. 1 Id], in which the hinged shutter 10 extends to cover the opening.

[0035] It is understood that in its covering position, the hinged shutter 10 has the function of limiting the passage of light beams through the opening. The hinged shutter 10 also provides security for the housing.

[0036] In the illustrated example of the invention and in a non-limiting manner, the opening 12 extends mainly along the vertical direction V and the pivoting members 14 of the hinged shutter 10 are aligned vertically one after the other so that the first axis of rotation A1 is parallel to the vertical direction V.

[0037] For example and in a non-limiting manner, the pivoting members 14 may take the form of hinges, hinge pins or hinges.

[0038] The hinged shutter 10 according to the example illustrated in [Fig.l] comprises a peripheral frame 16 delimiting a receiving housing 18 for a panel 20.

[0039] The frame 16 has a non-limiting rectangular shape with four sides 22. In particular, two vertical sides 22a of the frame are defined, which extend in the vertical direction V and two longitudinal sides 22b which extend in the longitudinal direction L and in such a way that they connect the vertical sides 22a.

[0040] The pivoting members 14 are integral with one of the sides 22 of the frame 16 of the hinged shutter 10.

[0041] In the illustrated example of the invention, the pivoting members 14 are integral with one of the vertical sides 22a of the frame 16, and outside the receiving housing 18.

[0042] According to a variant of the invention not illustrated, the vertical side intended to carry the pivoting members may comprise a vertical recess in its thickness, the recess taking a “T” shape in a horizontal plane.

[0043] More particularly, the “T”-shaped recess makes it possible to house an insert from which extends at least one tab carrying a hinge configured to cooperate with a hinge secured to the wall.

[0044] The assembly comprising the insert, the tab and the hinge is then vertically adjustable so that the hinge can cooperate with the hinge secured to the wall, independently of the vertical position of the latter relative to the opening.

[0045] Such an embodiment is then advantageous in that it allows the hinged shutter to adapt to the existing hinges secured to the wall in different vertical positions.

[0046] According to the example of the invention illustrated, the panel 20 has a complementary shape with the frame 16. Thus, in the example of the invention illustrated, the panel 20 has a rectangular shape.

[0047] The panel 20 is movable in the frame at 180° around a second axis of rotation A2 and in such a way that the panel 20 extends entirely in the frame 16 in a neutral position and in a 180° pivoting position of the panel 20 relative to its neutral position.

[0048] In particular, the neutral position of the panel 20, visible in [Fig. 1 la], is defined in which the panel 20 extends entirely in alignment with the frame 16. In other words, in the neutral position of the panel 20, the latter and the frame 16 extend in a common vertical plane.

[0049] The pivoting position of the panel 20 visible in [Fig. 1 Id], then corresponds to a 180° pivoting of the latter in the frame 16, from its neutral position, and such that the panel 20 extends again in the same vertical plane as the frame 16.

[0050] Thus, a first face 24 of the panel 20 and a second face 26 of the panel 20 are defined, opposite one another.

[0051] It is then understood from the above that the passage from the neutral position of the panel 20 to its pivoting position reverses the positioning of the faces 24, 26 relative to the frame 16.

[0052] According to the example of the invention, the second axis of rotation A2 of the panel 20 is parallel to the vertical direction V.

[0053] According to the example of the invention, the second axis of rotation A2 is centered longitudinally in the receiving housing 18 so as to allow the rotation of the panel 20 at 180° around the latter and in the frame 16.

[0054] The second axis of rotation A2 can be materialized in a non-limiting manner by two pivots 28, visible in FIG. 11, which extend into the receiving housing 18, each from one of the longitudinal sides 22b of the frame 16.

[0055] The panel 20 then comprises cylindrical housings arranged opposite the pivots 28 and capable of housing the pivots 28. The cylindrical housings and the pivots 28 are then configured to allow the panel 20 to rotate around the pivots 28.

[0056] It should also be considered that the cylindrical shape of the housings and pivots is not limiting and that these could take any shape as long as this allows the panel to rotate 180°.

[0057] The hinged shutter 10 comprises a stop device 30 extending between the panel 20 and the frame 16.

[0058] The stop device 30 according to the example of the invention illustrated and particularly visible in Figures 3 and 4, comprises a first rib 32 which extends along the frame 16 in the receiving housing 18 and a pair of second ribs 34 which extend along the panel 20 and opposite each other.

[0059] The ribs 32, 34 of the stop device 30 extend parallel to the second axis of rotation A2 of the panel 20, here vertical V.

[0060] More precisely, the first rib 32 extends into the receiving housing 18, along one of the vertical sides 22a of the frame 16.

[0061] Here and in a non-limiting manner, the first rib 32 extends along the vertical side 22a of the frame 16 which is integral with the pivoting members 14 described previously.

[0062] The first rib 32 extends vertically such that it is centered transversely on the vertical side 22a of the frame 16.

[0063] In other words, in a transverse direction of the frame 16, perpendicular to the vertical V and longitudinal L directions, the first rib 32 extends along the vertical side 22a such that a transverse dimension DT of the vertical side 22a of the frame 16, on either side of the first rib 32, are substantially equal to each other.

[0064] The two second ribs 34 which extend projecting from the panel 20 are thus configured to cooperate in an alternating manner with the first rib 32 of the frame 16 described previously.

[0065] Furthermore, the second ribs 34 extend in the extension of the same face 24, 26 of the panel 20.

[0066] It is then understood that the cooperation of one or other of the second ribs 34 is a function of the position of the panel 20 relative to the frame 16.

[0067] By way of example and in a non-limiting manner, in the neutral position of the panel 20, one of the second ribs 34 is in contact with the first rib 32 and in the pivoting position of the panel 20 described previously, the other second rib 34 is in contact with the first rib 32 of the frame 16.

[0068] It is then understood that the position of the first rib 32, centered in the thickness of the vertical side 22a of the frame 16, allows its cooperation with the second ribs 34 while authorizing the housing of the panel 20 in the extension of the frame 16 in its neutral position and in its pivoting position.

[0069] It is thus understood that the configuration of the stop device 30 as described allows the panel to rotate 180° around its second axis of rotation A2.

[0070] According to another non-limiting example of the invention visible in [Fig.5], it is possible provide that the stop device 30 of the hinged shutter 10 comprises a system composed of at least one stud 33 sliding in the transverse direction T of the frame 16, in a thickness of the latter within a “T” groove 35.

[0071] More precisely, the two vertical sides 22 of the frame 16 each comprise at least one “T” shaped groove 35 open onto the receiving housing 18 and such that the stud 33 associated with each of the grooves 35 is able to slide transversely in said groove 35, while being held longitudinally in the “T” shaped groove 35.

[0072] It is then understood that each stud 33 comprises a fixing portion intended to be housed in the “T” groove 35 and a stop portion, which extends outside the “T” groove 35 such that it is intended to come into contact with the second ribs of the panel.

[0073] A thinned portion extends between the fixing portion and the stop portion of the stud 33, so as to ensure the sliding of the latter in the “T” groove 35. Furthermore, it is understood that the dimensions of the stop portion and the fixing portion are configured to block the stud 33 in the groove 35 in the longitudinal direction L of the frame 16.

[0074] Each of the vertical sides 22 of the frame 16 then comprises at least one system composed of at least one stud 33 associated with the “T” groove 35 as described.

[0075] According to this exemplary embodiment of the invention, the second ribs of the panel extend in the vertical direction V and are centered transversely along the panel.

[0076] Thus, the contact of the second ribs of the panel with each of the stop portions of the pins 33, moves the pins 33 transversely in their “T” groove 35 and blocks the rotation of the panel in the frame at 180° as described previously.

[0077] According to this exemplary embodiment of the invention, a covering blade 37 can be fixed to the frame 16 by covering the vertical side 22 comprising the at least one “T” shaped groove 35, the blade 37 comprising a “T” shaped opening whose dimensions are smaller than the groove 35 so as to improve the longitudinal retention of the stud 33 in the groove 35.

[0078] According to an embodiment of the invention visible in [Fig.6], the first rib 32 can be configured to be removable.

[0079] More particularly, according to this embodiment of the invention, the first rib 32 is carried by a support forming a block and a groove of complementary shape to the block is formed in the frame 16.

[0080] The groove is then formed in the frame 16 such that the first rib 32 extends into the receiving housing 18 according to the configuration previously described.

[0081] The block carrying the rib is then locked in position in the frame, for example by locking devices such as lugs or additional shoulders.

[0082] Thus, the block carrying the rib can be assembled or disassembled from the frame easily and without destruction or deterioration of the frame of the hinged shutter.

[0083] Advantage is taken of such an embodiment of the invention in that the removability of the block carrying the rib makes it possible both to allow the 180° rotation of the panel in the frame as mentioned previously, and also to allow the 360° rotation of the panel when the block carrying the rib is disassembled from the frame.

[0084] According to another example of the invention not shown, the first rib can be secured to the frame by screwing.

[0085] According to the example of the invention illustrated in [Fig.2] and 3, the first face 24 comprises fixing elements 36 of an additional element 38.

[0086] In a non-limiting manner, the fixing elements 36 comprise fixing grooves 36.

[0087] In particular, the fixing grooves 36 have a “T” section in a thickness of the panel, visible in [Fig.3].

[0088] The additional element 38 may be a pot, a support, or any other object regardless of its function, as long as it is capable of cooperating with the fixing grooves 36 with a “T” section.

[0089] The particular shape of the “T” section grooves makes it possible to retain the additional elements 38 in the vertical V and transverse T directions.

[0090] Pins may be arranged in the fixing grooves 36 in order to longitudinally lock the additional element in position in the fixing grooves 36.

[0091] According to the example of the invention of [Fig.4], it can be provided that the fixing grooves 36 extend vertically along the first face 24 of the panel 20.

[0092] Thus, in this configuration of [Fig.4], the lugs ensure the vertical maintenance of the additional elements in the fixing grooves.

[0093] The hinged shutter 10 according to the invention comprises at least one gripping member 40 secured to the panel.

[0094] According to a first exemplary embodiment of the invention visible in figures 1 and 7, the gripping member 40 is a handle 40, integral with the panel 20 around an axis of rotation, here defined in a non-limiting manner by a vertical rod 41.

[0095] In particular, the rod 41 of the gripping member 40 extends parallel to the second axis of rotation A2 of the panel 20 and in clearances, not visible, formed in the thickness of the latter so as to allow its rotation.

[0096] Alternatively, the axis of rotation of the gripping member can be formed by two lugs.

[0097] The gripping member 40, according to the first embodiment of the invention, then comprises two arms 43 secured to the rod 41 which extend towards one of the sides verticals 22 of the frame 16 when the hinged shutter 10 is in a neutral position.

[0098] The arms 43 are connected to each other at their end by a handle 45, here vertical.

[0099] The panel 20 then comprises two slots 47, which extend in the longitudinal direction L of the frame 16 when the hinged shutter 10 is in its neutral position, and are formed in such a way that they allow the arms 43 to pass through the panel 20 when the gripping member 40 pivots around its rod 4L.

[0100] Thus, it is understood that when the panel 20 rotates in the frame 16, the handle 40 can pivot to one side or the other of the face of the panel 20 in order to facilitate gripping and closing of the hinged shutter 10 by the user.

[0101] Furthermore, when the handle 40 pivots, the rotation of the rod 41 activates at least one trigger, not visible, intended to block the panel 20 relative to the frame 16.

[0102] Advantageously, the gripping member 40 is arranged on the panel 20 in such a way that, when the hinged shutter 10 is in its uncovered position, the gripping member 40 is located close to the opening, that is to say close to the pivoting members 14.

[0103] Such positioning of the gripping member 40 makes it easier for a user to grasp it.

[0104] According to a second exemplary embodiment of the invention visible in figures 2 and 3, the gripping member 40 is pivotally mounted relative to the panel 20, along a pivot axis P parallel to the second axis of rotation A2 of the panel 20 and distinct from the latter.

[0105] More precisely, here, the gripping member 40 takes the form of a rod 40 which can pivot about the pivot axis P relative to the panel 20.

[0106] The rod 40 extends in the vertical direction V and is secured to the panel 20 in such a way that it is able to cooperate with fixing elements 42 secured to the vertical sides 22a of the frame 16, outside the receiving housing 18.

[0107] The rod 40 then comprises a complementary fixing member 44, for example a fixing lug, capable of cooperating with the fixing elements 42 mentioned above.

[0108] The rod 40 thus extends outside the receiving housing 18 of the panel 20 so as to cooperate with the fixing elements 42 secured to the vertical sides 22a of the frame 16.

[0109] Furthermore, the rod 40 extends over a vertical dimension greater than the panel 20.

[0110] Thus, it is understood that in the illustrated embodiment, the rod 40 extends vertically beyond the receiving housing 18 defined by the frame 16, up to the longitudinal sides 22b of the frame 16.

[0111] It is then understood that the rod 40 is intended to extend only on one of the sides of the hinged shutter 10.

[0112] The rod 40 is secured to the panel 20 via fixing elements, for example and in a non-limiting manner by hinges or tabs, or any other means as long as this allows the pivoting of the rod 40 around its pivot axis P as mentioned previously.

[0113] In order to allow the pivoting of the rod 40 over a greater amplitude, the second rib 34 extending along the same side of the panel comprises clearances of material opposite the elements for fixing the rod 40 to the panel 20.

[0114] Furthermore, the rod 40 is arranged relative to the panel 20 in such a way that, when the hinged shutter 10 is in its uncovered position, the rod 40 is located close to the opening, that is to say close to the pivoting members 14.

[0115] More precisely, the rod 40 is arranged relative to the panel 20 in such a way that when the hinged shutter 10 is in its uncovered position, and the first face 24 carrying the additional elements is turned away from the wall, the rod 40 extends opposite the vertical side 22a of the frame 16 secured to the pivoting members 14.

[0116] It is then understood that the rod 40 is integral in movement with the panel 20. Depending on the rotation of the panel 20, the rod 40 is then opposite one or other of the vertical sides 22a of the frame 16, such that its complementary fixing member 44 cooperates with one or other of the fixing elements 42.

[0117] The rod 40 then makes it possible on the one hand to form the gripping member of the hinged shutter 10 and also forms an element for locking the panel 20 in position relative to the frame 16 by cooperation of the complementary fixing member 44 with one of the fixing elements 42.

[0118] According to another example of the invention visible in figures 8 and 9, the gripping member 40 takes the form of a pivoting handle block 40 which extends into the panel 20.

[0119] More precisely, the panel 20 comprises a clearance of material in which the handle block 40 is housed.

[0120] The handle block 40 is then pivotally mounted relative to the panel 20 around a pivot axis P parallel and distinct from the second rotation axis A2 of the panel 20.

[0121] Furthermore, the clearance of material housing the handle block 40 comprises a stop 51 allowing the handle block 40 to be locked in rotation at 180° around the pivot axis P.

[0122] In the example of the invention illustrated, the stop 51 formed in the clearance of material takes the form of a groove which extends in the vertical direction V of the frame 16, along an inner edge of said clearance.

[0123] The handle block 40 is arranged relative to the panel 20 in such a way that when the hinged shutter 10 is in its uncovered position, and the first face 24 carrying the additional elements is turned away from the wall, the handle block 40 extends opposite the vertical side 22a of the frame 16 secured to the pivoting members 14.

[0124] An advantage of such a handle block 40 will be discussed later in the detailed description.

[0125] Furthermore, as seen in Figures 8 and 10, the hinged shutter 10 comprises a locking cleat 61, intended to be secured to the wall, and configured to lock the hinged shutter 10 against the latter.

[0126] For this purpose, the locking cleat 61 is presented, for example, as an elastically deformable tongue 63, one end of which has an excess thickness 65.

[0127] The tab 63 is then configured to fit between the panel 20 and the frame 16 when the hinged shutter 10 is in its neutral position, against the wall.

[0128] The excess thickness 65 formed at the end of the tongue 63 then makes it possible to retain the panel 20 relative to the wall.

[0129] The panel 20 can then comprise a clearance of peripheral material so as to allow the passage of the tongue 63 comprising the excess thickness 65 between the panel 20 and the frame 16.

[0130] It is further understood that the locking cleat 61 is configured such that the pivoting of the panel 20 by the user when moving the hinged shutter 10 releases the panel 20 from the constraint of the locking cleat 61.

[0131] It should also be considered that the locking cleat can be made of any material, elastically deformable or not, as long as it allows the locking function of the hinged shutter as described above.

[0132] The method of covering the opening 12 of the wall by means of the hinged shutter 10 according to the invention will now be described with reference to FIG. 11.

[0133] It should be considered that the implementation of the covering method is carried out when the hinged shutter 10 is in its position of uncovering the opening 12, that is to say against the wall, as illustrated in [Fig.11a].

[0134] More particularly, in the uncovered position of the hinged shutter 10 visible in [Fig. 1 la], the panel 20 is in its neutral position and the first face 24 carrying the additional elements 38 extends opposite the wall. The first face 24 of the panel 20 is thus visible to a user from the outside.

[0135] Thus, in a first step, a user grasps the gripping member 40 secured to the panel 20.

[0136] Advantage is then taken of the gripping member 40 positioned close to the pivoting members 14 in such a configuration of the hinged shutter 10, in that it makes it easier for the user to enter, who is at the opening 12

[0137] Once the gripping member 40 has been grasped, the user can then exert a translational force on the gripping member 40, towards the opening, so as to move the hinged shutter 10 as seen in FIGS. 11b and 11c.

[0138] The translational force exerted on the gripping member 40 then has the effect of causing the panel 20 to move around its second axis of rotation A2 so that it remains substantially parallel to the wall, while the frame 16 pivots around its first axis of rotation A1.

[0139] Such a movement of the panel 20 relative to the frame 16 makes it possible to keep the first face 24 carrying the additional elements 38 opposite the wall.

[0140] It is then understood that during the second step, the panel 20 rotates in the frame 16 around its second axis of rotation A2 while the frame 16 pivots around its first axis of rotation A1.

[0141] Subsequently, in a third step, the hinged shutter 10 is in its position covering the opening and the panel 20 is in its pivoting position, as seen in [Fig. 1 Id], in which the first face 24 carrying the additional elements 38 extends opposite the opening.

[0142] Thus it is understood that during the operation of folding the hinged shutter 10, it is not necessary to remove the additional elements carried by the first face of the panel.

[0143] The invention also makes it possible to secure the additional elements by placing them on the interior side of the building.

[0144] In addition, the position of the gripping member makes it easier for a user to grasp it, and thus reduces the risk of falling for a user who no longer has to bend down to grasp the end of the shutter. In addition, the user no longer has to leave the house to close the shutters. The invention also reduces the risk of pinching fingers or improper handling.

[0145] Thus, advantage is taken of the hinged shutter as just described in that it solves both the security problems regarding its closure mentioned previously, and also makes it possible to have an ornamental or utilitarian exterior surface thanks to one of the faces of the panel of the hinged shutter being able to remain outside independently of the position of the hinged shutter.
