Description

Title of the invention: WATER SPORTS MASK BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a water sports mask, in particular a mask used for swimming, snorkeling, free diving, spearfishing or other aquatic activities (including both surface and underwater activities), in which activities the mask generally covers at least the eyes of the user.

[0002] 2. Description of the related state of the art

[0003] Current masks for underwater activities generally include, for example, swimming goggles that cover only the eyes, diving masks that cover both the eyes and the nose, and full-face breathing masks that cover the eyes, nose, and mouth. Among these types, diving masks and full-face breathing masks are designed not to touch the user's face to the greatest extent possible (especially at the bridge and root of the user's nose) to avoid facial discomfort. They may also need a viewing window portion large enough to maintain a sufficient field of vision. It may even be necessary to configure a breathing passage in the mask body, especially in the design of a full-face breathing mask.These requirements do not favor the miniaturization design of a mask and also move the heaviest part of the mask (i.e., the part where the frame and the observation window are located) away from the user's face, so that this part structurally produces a downward pulling force, which in turn affects the waterproofness of the waterproof skirt. To improve the wearing stability of the mask, most designs choose to increase the thickness of the waterproof skirt to maintain a balanced distribution of the weight of the mask body.

[0004] However, a waterproof skirt whose thickness has been increased is not conducive to flexible deformation. It is even more difficult if it has to adapt to the different face shapes of users depending on age, gender and ethnicity, in order to ensure comfortable wearing and excellent waterproof performance. Therefore, after research and development of a particular model of mask, manufacturers are usually forced to produce several product sizes for the same model to provide options for customers. This inevitably leads to a significant increase in the manufacturing and sales costs of masks.

[0005] Furthermore, when the general user wears a mask, the waterproof skirt will stick to the user's face like a suction cup, having no cushioning capacity. sufficient. During underwater activities, any external impact or even slight movements of the user's face can cause the waterproof skirt to detach slightly from the face, causing water leaks. This is one of the shortcomings of current masks.

[0006] Therefore, the industry is striving to design a water sports mask capable of solving all or part of the aforementioned problems. Summary of the invention

[0007] An objective of the present invention is to provide a water sports mask. Since a mask is provided with a sealing skirt intended to be attached to the user's face, an elongated groove of significant (and not only decorative) dimensions is provided in the area of the sealing skirt of the mask that does not touch the user's face, in particular at the outer edge of a rigid frame or a flexible frame formed integrally with the sealing skirt. By facilitating longitudinal folding along the grooves, the flexible deformation capacity of the sealing skirt can be improved, i.e., the sealing skirt can be more easily stretched or folded within a certain range, making it more suitable for adapting to the contours of different faces of users. At the same time, in some embodiments, the elongated groove can function as a rib, which effectively enhances the strength of the sealing skirt.This not only reduces the need to thicken the sealing skirt, but also increases the overall strength of the mask body when worn. In the event of accidental external impact or unexpected movement of the user's face, the groove provides additional cushioning to prevent the sealing skirt from immediately detaching from the face, while still being able to maintain excellent watertightness.

[0008] To achieve the above-mentioned objective, the present invention discloses a water sports mask comprising:

[0009] an observation window part;

[0010] a frame part;

[0011] a waterproof skirt having a first region and a second region, a portion of the first region and the viewing window portion being waterproofly integrated into the frame portion, and when a user wears the water sports mask, a rear edge of the second region being configured to fit the user's face;

[0012] characterized by the fact that:

[0013] at least one groove is formed between the first region and the second region of the sealed skirt in order to substantially increase the degree of flexible deformation of the skirt sealed such that the rear edge is configured to more appropriately fit the contour of the user's face; and

[0014] said at least one groove has at least two of a width (w), a depth (d) and an outer angle (θ), where the width (w) is in the range of 1.5 to 25 millimeters, the depth (d) is in the range of 2 to 30 millimeters and the outer angle (θ) is in the range of 5 to 180 degrees.

[0015] In one embodiment, the first region of the waterproof skirt has an upper frame section and a lower cover section, and the frame portion is integrally formed extending from the upper frame section to allow the viewing window portion to be waterproofly integrated into the frame portion, whereby, when the user wears the water sports mask, the viewing window portion is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section is configured to cover the user's nose.

[0016] In one example, the waterproof skirt includes a plurality of grooves positioned peripherally on an outer edge of the frame portion.

[0017] In one example, the width (w), depth (d) and outer angle (θ) of each groove are in the ranges of 2 to 10 millimeters (mm), 5 to 15 mm and 5 to 100 degrees respectively.

[0018] In another embodiment, the first region of the waterproof skirt has an upper frame section and a lower cover section, and the upper frame section and the viewing window portion are waterproofly integrated into the frame portion, whereby, when the user wears the water sports mask, the viewing window portion is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section is configured to cover the user's nose.

[0019] In one example, the waterproof skirt has a groove positioned on an upper side thereof.

[0020] In one example, the width (w), depth (d) and outer angle (θ) of the groove are in the ranges of 5 to 20 mm, 3 to 15 mm and 5 to 100 degrees respectively.

[0021] In yet another embodiment, the first region of the waterproof skirt has an upper frame section and a lower cover section, and the upper frame section and the viewing window portion are waterproofly integrated into the frame portion, whereby, when the user wears the water sports mask, the viewing window portion is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section is configured to cover the user's nose and mouth.

[0022] In one example, the waterproof skirt comprises two branches positioned on two respective opposite sides thereof.

[0023] In one example, the width (w), depth (d) and outer angle (θ) of each groove are in the ranges of 3 to 10 mm, 5 to 20 mm and 15 to 120 degrees respectively.

[0024] In another embodiment, the first region of the waterproof skirt and the viewing window portion are waterproofly integrated into the frame portion, whereby, when the user wears the water sports mask, the viewing window portion is configured to cover the user's eyes, nose, and mouth.

[0025] In one example, the waterproof skirt has a groove positioned on a lower side thereof.

[0026] In one example, the width (w), depth (d) and outer angle (O) of each groove are in the ranges of 2 to 10 mm, 10 to 25 mm and 30 to 180 degrees respectively. Brief description of the drawings

[0046] It should be noted that the following description of the embodiments is intended only to explain the contents of the present invention, but not to limit the invention. Elements not directly related to the present invention are omitted from the description (for example, the head strap that secures the mask to the user's head is omitted from the description of some figures), and the dimensions as indicated for all elements in the drawings are only for ease of understanding and are not intended to limit their actual scales. Furthermore, the terms "front", "back", "left", "right", "inner", "outer" or the like used in the descriptions refer to the direction of the user himself / herself. They are given only for a relationship in space and are not limiting.

[0047] The present invention relates to a water sports mask, which may be (but is not limited to) swimming goggles, a swimming mask, a diving mask or any form of breathing mask (e.g., a full face mask). All of these types may adopt the structure of the mask described in the present invention. The differences lie in whether the mask body covers the user's eyes only, or both the eyes and nose, or the entirety of the eyes, nose and mouth, and whether there is a breathing tube communicating with the interior of the body. However, these modifications do not affect the description of the features of the mask body of the present invention. Therefore, the parts other than the mask body, such as the breathing tube, the head strap, the intake and exhaust passages and the like which have nothing to do with the structure of the mask body, will not be specifically described. Furthermore, in order to facilitate the description of the features of the present invention, the head straps are shown only in Figures 2A, 3A and 4A, and are omitted in the other figures.

[0048] The first embodiment of the present invention relates to a water sports mask 1, as illustrated in Figures 1A and 1B. The water sports mask 1 is a mask used for activities such as spearfishing, swimming training or snorkeling. The water sports mask 1 comprises a viewing window part 11, a frame part 13 and a waterproof skirt 15.The waterproof skirt 15 has a first region (i.e., a front region) 15a and a second region (i.e., a rear region) 15b. A portion of the first region 15a and the observation window portion 11 are integrated in a waterproof manner into the frame portion 13.

[0049] In this embodiment, the first region 15a of the waterproof skirt 15 has an upper frame section 15al and a lower cover section 15a2. The frame portion 13 is integrally formed extending from the upper frame section 15al such that the observation window portion 11 is waterproofly integrated into the upper frame section 15al. When a user wears the water sports mask 1 using a fastening device (such as an elastic head strap, not shown), the observation window portion 11 is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section 15a2 is configured to cover the user's nose. As shown in [Fig.lA], the observation window portion 11 and the frame portion 13 respectively comprise two separate observation windows 11a and 11b and two separate frames 13a and 13b.

[0050] Furthermore, when the user wears the water sports mask 1, a rear edge 15b 1 of the second region 15b of the waterproof skirt 15 is configured to fit the user's face. The waterproof skirt 15 has a plurality of grooves 15g between the first region 15a and the second region 15b thereof. These grooves 15g are positioned peripherally on an outer edge of the frame portion 13 (i.e. corresponding to the periphery of the eye sockets and the eyebrow arches of the user). In this embodiment, as shown in Figures 1A and 1B, the groove 15g is substantially lateral, i.e. it extends along the periphery of the frame portion 13. The groove 15g may be designed to have a certain depth in order to produce the same effect as a rib.When the waterproof skirt 15 is pushed by an external force, it can abut against positions around portions of the periphery of the user's eye sockets and brow bones, thereby enabling the water sports mask 1 to be adjusted. to the face in a very stable manner. However, in other embodiments, the groove may not extend completely along the periphery of the frame portion, i.e., it is not limited to the configuration illustrated in Figures 1A and 1B.

[0051] More specifically, reference is also made to [Fig.lC], which shows a partial cross-sectional view of the sealing skirt 15 near the groove 15g. Each groove 15g has at least two of a width w, a depth d, and an outer angle θ, where the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ are in the ranges of 1.5 to 25 millimeters (mm), 2 to 30 mm, and 5 to 180 degrees, respectively. Preferably, the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ of each groove 15g are in the ranges of 2 to 10 mm, 5 to 15 mm, and 5 to 100 degrees, respectively. Under these conditions of significant dimension, the grooves 15g can significantly increase the degree of flexible deformation of the sealing skirt 15, thereby enabling the rear edge 15b 1 to better conform to the contours of the user's face.Furthermore, the 15g grooves not only improve the adaptability of the water sports mask 1 to different face shapes, but also provide additional cushioning when the user is accidentally subjected to internal and / or external forces. [Fig. 1D] illustrates a deformation state of the 15g groove when the user wears the mask 1 and his face abuts against the waterproof skirt 15 (as indicated by the arrow).

[0052] The second embodiment of the present invention relates to a water sports mask 2, as illustrated in Figures 2A and 2B. The water sports mask 2 is a mask used for activities such as snorkeling or diving. The water sports mask 2 comprises a viewing window portion 21, a frame portion 23 and a waterproof skirt 25. The waterproof skirt 25 has a first region 25a and a second region 25b. A portion of the first region 25a and the viewing window 21 are integrated in a waterproof manner in the frame portion 23.

[0053] In this embodiment, the first region 25a of the waterproof skirt 25 has an upper frame section 25al and a lower cover section 25a2. The upper frame section 25al and the observation window portion 21 are waterproofly integrated into the frame portion 23. When a user wears the water sports mask 2 using a fastening device (such as an elastic head strap 201, as shown in [Fig. 2A]), the observation window portion 21 is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section 25a2 is configured to cover the user's nose. As shown in [Fig. 2A], the frame portion 23 is a single component, and the observation window portion 21 includes two separate observation windows 21a and 21b. The window portion observation 21, the frame part 23 and the waterproof skirt 25 are assembled to form the water sports mask 2.

[0054] Furthermore, when the user wears the water sports mask 2, a rear edge 25b 1 of the second region 25b of the waterproof skirt 25 is configured to fit the user's face. The waterproof skirt 25 has a groove 25g between the first region 25a and the second region 25b thereof. The groove 25g is positioned on an upper side of the waterproof skirt 25 (i.e., near the user's eyebrows). Similarly, reference may also be made to [Fig.2C], which shows a partial cross-sectional view of the waterproof skirt 25 near the groove 25g. The 25g groove has at least two of a width w, a depth d and an outer angle 0, where the width w, the depth d and the outer angle 0 are in the ranges of 1.5 to 25 mm, 2 to 30 mm and 5 to 180 degrees respectively.Preferably, the width w, the depth d and the outer angle θ of the groove 25g are in the ranges of 5 to 20 mm, 3 to 15 mm and 5 to 100 degrees respectively. When the sealing skirt 25 is subjected to internal and / or external forces, the groove 25g will deform. [Fig.2D] illustrates a deformation state of the groove 25g when the user wears the mask 2 and his face abuts against the sealing skirt 25 (as indicated by the arrow).

[0055] The third embodiment of the present invention relates to a water sports mask 3, as illustrated in Figures 3A and 3B. The water sports mask 3 is a goggle-type full face mask used for activities such as snorkeling. The water sports mask 3 comprises a viewing window portion 31, a frame portion 33, a sealing skirt 35, and a breathing tube 37. The sealing skirt 35 has a first region 35a and a second region 35b. A portion of the first region 35a and the viewing window 31 are integrated in a waterproof manner in the frame portion 33.

[0056] In this embodiment, the first region 35a of the waterproof skirt 35 has an upper frame section 35al and a lower cover section 35a2. The upper frame section 35al and the observation window portion 31 are waterproofly integrated into the frame portion 33. When a user wears the water sports mask 3 using a fastening device (such as an elastic head strap 301, as shown in [Fig. 3A]), the observation window portion 31 is configured to cover the user's eyes, and the lower cover section 35a2 is configured to cover the user's nose and mouth. As shown in [Fig. 3A], the observation window portion 31 and the frame portion 33 are both a single component. The observation window part 31, the frame part 33, the waterproof skirt 35 and the breathing tube 37 are assembled to form the water sports mask 3.

[0057] Further, when the user wears the water sports mask 3, a rear edge 35b 1 of the second region 35b of the sealing skirt 35 is configured to fit the user's face. The sealing skirt 35 has two grooves 35g between the first region 35a and the second region 35b thereof. The two grooves 35g are positioned on two respective opposite sides of the sealing skirt 35 (i.e., near the outer sides of the user's eyes). Optionally, the sealing skirt 35 may also have a groove 35g at the lower portion of the sealing skirt 35 to increase the flexibility of the water sports mask 3 to fit the user's chin.

[0058] Similarly, reference is also made to [Fig.3C], which shows a partial cross-sectional view of the sealing skirt 35 near the groove 35g. The groove 35g has at least two of a width w, a depth d, and an outer angle θ, where the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ are in the ranges of 1.5 to 25 mm, 2 to 30 mm, and 5 to 180 degrees, respectively. Preferably, the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ of each groove 35g are in the ranges of 3 to 10 mm, 5 to 20 mm, and 15 to 120 degrees, respectively. When the sealing skirt 35 is subjected to internal and / or external forces, the groove 35g will deform. [Fig.3D] illustrates a state of deformation of the groove 35g when the user wears the mask 3 and his face comes into abutment against the waterproof skirt 35 (as indicated by the arrow).

[0059] The fourth embodiment of the present invention relates to a water sports mask 4, as illustrated in Figures 4A and 4B. The water sports mask 4 is a full-face mask with a full viewing window used for activities such as snorkeling. The water sports mask 4 has a viewing window portion 41, a frame portion 43, a sealing skirt 45, and a breathing tube 47. The sealing skirt 45 has a first region 45a and a second region 45b. A portion of the first region 45a and the viewing window 41 are sealingly integrated into the frame portion 43.

[0060] In this embodiment, when the user wears the water sports mask 4 using a fastening device (such as an elastic head strap 401, as shown in [Fig.4A]), the observation window portion 41 is configured to cover the user's eyes, nose, and mouth. As shown in [Fig.4A], the observation window portion 41 and the frame portion 43 are both a single component. The observation window portion 41, the frame portion 43, the sealing skirt 45, and the breathing tube 47 are assembled to form the water sports mask 4.

[0061] Further, when the user wears the water sports mask 4, a rear edge 45b 1 of the second region 45b of the waterproof skirt 45 is configured to fit the user's face. The waterproof skirt 45 has a groove 45g between the first region 45a and the second region 45b thereof. The groove 45g is positioned on a lower side of the waterproof skirt 45 (i.e., near the user's chin).

[0062] Similarly, reference is also made to [Fig.4C], which shows a partial cross-sectional view of the sealing skirt 45 near the groove 45g. The groove 45g has at least two of a width w, a depth d, and an outer angle θ, where the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ are in the ranges of 1.5 to 25 mm, 2 to 30 mm, and 5 to 180 degrees, respectively. Preferably, the width w, the depth d, and the outer angle θ of the groove 45g are in the ranges of 2 to 10 mm, 10 to 25 mm, and 30 to 180 degrees, respectively. When the sealing skirt 45 is subjected to internal and / or external forces, the groove 45g will deform. [Fig.4D] illustrates a state of deformation of the groove 45g when the user wears the mask 4 and his face comes into abutment against the waterproof skirt 45 (as indicated by the arrow).

[0063] Overall, as illustrated in the figures above, the water sports mask of the present invention comprises a viewing window portion, a frame portion, and a sealing skirt. The sealing skirt has a front region (i.e., a first region) and a rear region (i.e., a second region). The viewing window portion and the frame portion as described and disclosed in the present application refer to a generic concept. In one embodiment, it may be two viewing windows and two frames for covering the left and right eyes respectively, as shown in [Fig. 1A] of the first embodiment. In another embodiment, it may be two viewing windows assembled with a frame, as shown in [Fig. 2A] of the second embodiment.In yet another embodiment, it may be a viewing window assembled with a frame to simultaneously cover the left and right eyes, as shown in [Fig. 3A] of the third embodiment. In yet another embodiment, it may be a full viewing window mask that simultaneously covers the eyes, nose, and mouth, as shown in Figures 4A and 4B of the fourth embodiment. As shown in the first to fourth embodiments above, each of the grooves 15g, 25g, 35g, and 45g is recessed inward toward the user; however, in other embodiments, the grooves may be recessed outward away from the user to present a protruding appearance.

[0064] Still referring to [Fig. 5], the shape of the groove can be varied in the present invention. For example, as shown in cross-sectional views (a) to (f), the grooves can have a right-angled U-shape or a V-shape, a rounded U-shape, or other possible variations. The width w is the width of the maximum opening of the groove, and the depth d is measured from the center of the bottom of the groove. to the hypothetical surface through the groove opening. The exterior angle 0 is the angle between the outer sidewall of the groove and the section of the sealing skirt in contact with the face (i.e., the second region defined above).

[0065] Each of the above embodiments has one or more elongated grooves on the portion(s) of the sealing skirt of the mask body that do not come into contact with the user's face, thereby allowing the sealing skirt to bend and deform more easily. This design is intended to improve the degree of flexible deformation of the sealing skirt of the mask of the present invention compared to that of conventional masks having the same similar design parameters of the frame portion and the observation window portion. Therefore, the mask of the present invention can fit a wider variety of face shapes without the need to manufacture and sell multiple sizes for different users. In addition, the mask of the present invention provides better cushioning and support during use.Therefore, the grooves are preferably oriented so that their longitudinal length extends along the periphery of the mask body. The shape and number of the grooves, as well as the way in which they are arranged, are not the focus of attention.

[0066] Furthermore, the above embodiments are for illustrative purposes only. In the case where [Fig. 5] has shown various possible groove shapes and the measurements of the width w, depth d and outer angle θ thereof, those skilled in the art can understand the various possible modifications of the groove shape of the present invention, and all modifications are within the scope of the present invention. For example, unlike the water sports mask 2 shown in [Fig. 2B] which has a U-shaped groove, Figures 6A and 6B show the water sports masks 6a and 6b with two respective types of V-shaped grooves 65g. In [Fig. 6A], the outer angle θ of the groove 65g of the water sports mask 6a approaches approximately 180 degrees to show a substantially flat state, and is therefore not shown. In contrast, in [Fig.6B], the outer angle 0 of the groove 65g of the water sports mask 6b is approximately close to 90 degrees. In both Figures 6A and 6B, the sealing skirts 25 have similar S-shaped cross-sections.

[0067] In summary, the water sports mask of the present invention improves the deformability of the waterproof skirt by providing one or more deformable grooves on the portion or portions of the waterproof skirt that do not come into contact with the user's face. The present invention enables the mask to better adapt to the different face shapes of users of different ages, sexes and ethnicities, thereby ensuring comfortable wearing and superior waterproof performance.

[0068] The preceding embodiments serve only to illustrate implementations of the present invention and to explain the technical features thereof, and are not used to limit the scope of the present invention. All modifications or equivalent arrangements that can be readily made by those skilled in the art are considered to be within the scope of the present invention.
