Description

Title of the invention: Fixing device with removable insulator for electric fence Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of fencing and more particularly concerns a removable insulator for a device for fixing a fence to a fence post as well as a fixing device comprising such an insulator. Prior art

[0002] The use of fences is widespread, for example to demarcate a field, an enclosure or even a garden. The fence generally comprises uprights, for example of the stake or post type, planted in the ground at a distance and on which a wire mesh can be fixed.

[0003] In certain situations, particularly for enclosures intended to accommodate animals such as horses, sheep or cows, it may be necessary to electrify the fence in order to pen the animals or prevent intrusions.

[0004] A known solution for electrifying fences is to attach one or more electrically conductive wires to the fence posts. The wire(s) are connected to a power supply to form an electrical circuit. In principle, the wire is stripped so that a low-voltage electric shock can be administered.

[0005] Therefore, it is necessary to ensure insulation between the posts and the electrically conductive wire(s) to prevent the electrical circuit from being directly connected to earth. An existing electrical insulator solution consists of a plastic support screwed onto a wooden post and comprising a hook-shaped portion on which the wire is intended to rest.

[0006] However, it is difficult to change the electrical insulators without damaging the enclosure, since the assembly is screwed onto the post. Furthermore, it can be complicated to mount the electrical insulator on certain types of uprights, particularly metal ones.

[0007] There is therefore a need for a simple and effective solution to at least partially remedy these drawbacks. Statement of the invention

[0008] To this end, the invention firstly relates to an insulator for a device for fixing a fence to a fence post, said insulator being made of an electrically insulating material and being configured to receive and hold an electrically conductive wire of said fence and to be fixed in a removable manner to a so-called "proximal" end of a body of said fixing device.

[0009] By the term "removable" we mean that it can be removed or replaced at will. the insulator, preferably without tools.

[0010] Such an insulator makes it possible to easily and quickly add an electrically conductive wire to a fence, in particular to electrify a fence that was not electrified. Such an insulator makes it possible to easily change or move an existing electrically conductive wire of an electrified fence, in particular to change the type of wire and / or its diameter. For maintenance operations, it is sufficient to remove the insulator, carry out the maintenance (for example, changing the post or changing the body of the device) and replace the insulator on the body, without having to touch the wire itself. The insulating nature of the insulator material protects the user during these operations and ensures the insulation of the electrical wire, thus limiting the risks of short circuits which could distort the electrical protection.

[0011] Preferably, the insulator is a single piece to facilitate the manufacturing process.

[0012] More preferably, the insulator is made of a plastic material, which both provides electrical insulation and allows manufacturing by 3D printing, for example.

[0013] Advantageously, the insulator comprises a complementary portion of the proximal end allowing the insulator to be fixed to said proximal end.

[0014] Advantageously, the insulator is configured to be mounted on the proximal end by insertion.

[0015] Preferably, the isolator is configured to be mounted on the proximal end by a slide connection.

[0016] More preferably, the insulator is configured to be mounted on the proximal end by a dovetail sliding connection (single, double, triple, etc.).

[0017] Advantageously, the insulator comprises a stop making it possible to block the translation of the insulator during mounting on the proximal end of the body, in particular during mounting by slide-type insertion.

[0018] Advantageously, the isolator is configured to receive and hold the proximal end of the body of the device using fixing clips and / or fixing hooks.

[0019] Advantageously, the insulator comprises a lower wall and an upper wall extending along planes parallel to each other, and a blocking wall extending perpendicular to said lower wall and to said upper wall while being connected to the lower wall and the upper wall by one of its ends forming a stop, the blocking wall, the lower wall and the upper wall forming an internal space intended to form a closed loop with the proximal end of the body of the device when the insulator is mounted on said proximal end, said internal space being configured to receive an electrically conductive wire.

[0020] More preferably, the upper wall comprises a hollow imprint forming the stop opposite the lower wall in order to receive a portion of the proximal end and block it after insertion of the insulator.

[0021] In one embodiment, the insulator is a cylinder in which a notch for receiving the electrically conductive wire of the fence has been formed and which is configured to be mounted on the proximal end by insertion.

[0022] The invention also relates to a device for fixing a fence to a fence post, said device comprising an elongated body extending along a longitudinal axis and comprising a proximal end and a distal end, said distal end being configured to fix the device to said post, said proximal end being configured to removably receive an insulator as presented previously.

[0023] In one embodiment, the proximal end is configured to receive the isolator by insertion. This type of connection allows the isolator to be simply positioned on the body and subsequently removed and replaced.

[0024] Preferably, the proximal end is configured to receive the insulator by a sliding connection. This type of connection allows the insulator to be simply positioned on the body and subsequently removed and replaced.

[0025] Advantageously, the sliding connection is a single, double or triple dovetail connection, so as to easily insert the insulator onto the proximal end of the body by sliding, to, preferably, lock the insulator onto the body by friction and to allow rapid removal of the insulator by sliding. The dovetail sliding connection also ensures locking in longitudinal translation of the insulator.

[0026] Advantageously, the proximal end comprises a face on which two ribs are formed framing a mortise. This geometry reinforces the locking in longitudinal translation of the insulator.

[0027] In one embodiment, the proximal end comprises a face from which extend, in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body, two parallel receiving portions. These two receiving portions are configured to receive the insulator fixed by insertion therebetween.

[0028] Advantageously, the proximal end is configured to receive and hold the insulator using fixing clips and / or fixing hooks.

[0029] Advantageously, the device comprises two fixing fins each extending on either side of the base from the connecting end of the body, each fin being configured to allow the device to be fixed to the fence post, the free end of the base forming the proximal end of the body and the connecting end forming, with the two fins, the distal end of the body, said distal end comprising at least one main groove configured to receive and block at least one wire mesh against the post when the device is mounted on said upright. The at least one groove makes it possible to lock at least one wire mesh onto a fence upright, such as a picket or post, in a simple, reliable, quick and efficient manner, by sliding the wire into the groove before fixing the device to said upright so that the wire is locked between the fixing device and the upright.

[0030] Preferably, the groove is configured so that the wire is integrated into the device when the device is mounted on the post.

[0031] Advantageously, the distal end of the body is configured to conform to the shape of the post so that the wire is locked against a portion of said post.

[0032] Preferably, considering that the body extends along a main plane comprising the longitudinal axis of the base, the at least one main groove extends orthogonally to said main plane.

[0033] More preferably, the distal end comprises a plurality of main grooves, for example two grooves. Thus, the device can block several mesh wires.

[0034] Preferably, the distal end comprises at least one main groove on each side of the distal end relative to the middle of the free end of the base.

[0035] More preferably, the at least one main groove is located at the connecting end of the base. This allows the device to block a wire of the mesh as close as possible to the middle of the upright.

[0036] Preferably, the at least one main groove is located on at least one of the fins.

[0037] Alternatively or additionally, the fins comprise at least one secondary groove extending perpendicular to the at least one main groove to block a horizontal wire of the mesh if necessary.

[0038] Advantageously, the base and the fins are made from the same material to simplify the manufacturing process of the part.

[0039] Preferably, the base and the fins are made of a plastic material, for example by molding or by 3D printing.

[0040] Advantageously, the body of the device is a single piece, to simplify the manufacturing process of the piece.

[0041] Preferably, the body is made of a plastic material, for example by molding or by 3D printing.

[0042] In one form of the invention, the base comprises a slot, preferably axial, opening onto the connecting end of the base and which is configured to receive the foot of the T-section of a stake. This slot makes it possible to fix the device on a T-stake.

[0043] Preferably, the slot is of rectangular section, which is simpler to machine.

[0044] More preferably, the slot is delimited by two parallel walls of the base. connected to each other via a so-called “connecting” portion.

[0045] In one embodiment, the at least one main groove extends between one of the fins and the slot.

[0046] More preferably, the device comprises two main grooves, one on each side of the slot, the fins then making it possible, when fixed to an upright, to hold the device so that two wire mesh wires are blocked between the base and the upright.

[0047] According to one embodiment, the device comprises a fixing system for fixing the fins on or around the body of a fence post.

[0048] In one embodiment, the fastening system is configured to fasten the device around the body of a stake having a T-shaped cross-section.

[0049] More preferably, the fixing system comprises at least two screws or two nails.

[0050] In one embodiment, the fixing system comprises at least one plate, two screws and two nuts for fixing said at least one plate to the fins so that the upright is held between the at least one plate and the fins. Fixing is thus easier on an upright, in particular on a T-section stake, which does not require bending or deforming the device and provides simplicity of assembly and disassembly with the screws positioned on either side of the upright.

[0051] In another embodiment, the fastening system may comprise clip-type means for replacing the screws.

[0052] The invention also relates to an assembly formed of an isolator as presented previously and a device as presented previously, in which said isolator is mounted on the proximal end of the body of said device.

[0053] In one embodiment, the proximal end of the body of the device comprises a face from which extend, in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body, two parallel receiving portions, the insulator being inserted between said two parallel receiving portions, at least one parallel receiving portion comprising an orifice, said insulator having a bore, preferably through, the fixing rod being configured to be inserted into the at least one orifice and into the bore of the insulator to block it on the proximal end.

[0054] The invention also relates to a deportation accessory in the form of an elongated arm comprising a first end configured to be mounted on the proximal end of a device for fixing a fence to a fence post, in particular as presented above, and a second end configured to receive an insulator, made of an electrically insulating material and being configured to receive and hold an electrically conductive wire, in particular an insulator as presented above, the arm being shaped so as to move said second end of the longitudinal axis of the base of the body of the device when said offset accessory is mounted on the device. The offset accessory allows the electrically conductive wire to be moved away from the upright in a given direction, which can be particularly useful in the corners of the fence to allow the wire to continue running along the mesh.

[0055] The invention also relates to a hanging accessory comprising a base, a rim and a hanging ring, said base being intended to be inserted into the insulator before it is installed on the proximal end, the rim making it possible to hold the hanging accessory on the insulator, said hanging ring being configured to receive an end hook of an electrically conductive wire. The hanging accessory makes it possible to hang and unhook the electrically conductive wire from the device easily and quickly.

[0056] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a device as described above and an insulator as described above and / or a displacement accessory and / or a hanging accessory as described above.

[0057] The invention also relates to a fence comprising at least one device as presented above, at least one fence post, preferably of the stake or post type, and a fence, said at least one device being mounted on said at least one post so as to block at least one wire of said fence against said at least one post.

[0058] In one embodiment, the fence further comprises an electrically conductive wire.

[0059] In one embodiment, the wire may comprise at one of its ends a band, for example elastic, the free end of which is configured to pass through the insulator and be fixed to said insulator. Brief description of the drawings

[0078] [Fig.l] illustrates an example of a fence 1 according to the invention, in the position of use.

[0079] The fence 1 preferably comprises several fixing devices 10 according to the invention, only one of which is shown in [Fig.l] for the sake of clarity, several uprights which are, in this non-limiting example, of the stake type 20 and only one of which is shown in [Fig.l] for the sake of clarity, a fence 30 and an electrically conductive wire 40 capable of carrying a current to electrify the fence.

[0080] The stake 20 is planted along the terrestrial vertical Y. In this example, the stake 20 has a T-shaped section.

[0081] Device 10

[0082] The device 10 is mounted on the stake 20 in order to hold the mesh 30 on said stake 20. In the position of use on a stake 20 planted vertically in the ground, as illustrated in [Fig.l], the device 10 extends along a plane PI substantially orthogonal to the earth vertical Y.

[0083] With reference to Figures 2 to 4, the device 10 firstly comprises a body 11.

[0084] In the example of Figures 5 to 7, the device 10 further comprises a system of fixing 12.

[0085] Still in the example of figures 5 to 7, the device 10 further comprises an isolator 13 (visible only in figures 9 to 12).

[0086] The device 10 may also comprise a shift accessory 14 (illustrated in figures 13 and 14) and / or a hanging accessory 15 (illustrated in figures 15 and 16).

[0087] Body 11

[0088] Figures 2 to 4 illustrate a first embodiment of the body 11.

[0089] The body 11 comprises an elongated base 110 and two fins 120 originating from the same material than the base 110, preferably a plastic material.

[0090] The base 110 extends along a longitudinal axis X, parallel to the plane PL. The base 110 has a free end 11 OR and a connecting end 110Z.

[0091] In the embodiments shown in the figures, the two fins 120 extend from the connecting end 110Z of the base 110 in a plane P2 orthogonal to the longitudinal axis X. Alternatively, the fins 120 could have a different shape, for example curved or L-shaped, so as to match the specific shape of a stake or a post, for example of circular or square section.

[0092] The body 11 has a distal end 11D corresponding to the fins 120 and to the connecting end 110Z of the base 110. The body 11 also has a proximal end 1 IP opposite the distal end 11D.

[0093] A portion of material forming a reinforcement 115 of curved shape connects the lower face of each fin 120, located on the side of the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11, to the portion of the base extending between the connecting end 110Z and the free end 11 OR of said base 110.

[0094] In the embodiments shown in the figures, the base 110 comprises a slot 112 (see for example in figures 3 and 4) which extends from the distal end 11D towards the inside of the base 110 passing through the connecting end 110Z along the longitudinal axis X. The two portions of the base 110 located on either side of the slot 112 are connected by a connecting portion 113.

[0095] Each fin 120 comprises a fixing orifice 121 allowing the passage of a fixing element, for example of the screw or nail type, as illustrated in [Fig.l] (screw) and described below with reference to the fixing system 12.

[0096] Each fin 120 comprises, at its free end, a fixing surface 120-1, in which the fixing orifice 121 is formed. Each fin 120 comprises, at the junction with the connecting end 110Z of the base 110, a flat recess 120-2 making it possible in this example to receive at least part of the thickness of a portion of a stake 20 with a T-shaped section and making it possible to mount the fixing system 12, as described below.

[0097] Referring to [Fig. 3], a groove 114 is formed in the connecting end 110Z at the junction between each fin 120 and the slot 112. Alternatively, the grooves 114 could be formed directly in the fins 120, for example in the recesses 120-2 or in the fixing surfaces 120-1.

[0098] Each of the two grooves 114 is configured to receive a wire 31 of the mesh 30 and to block said wire 31 when the device 10 is mounted on the stake 20.

[0099] The free end 11 OR of the base 110 has a shape allowing a dovetail-type sliding connection which extends orthogonally to the longitudinal axis X.

[0100] With reference in particular to figures 2 and 4, this sliding connection comprises a mortise 116 and two ribs 118, the mortise 116 and the two ribs 118 extending over the entire thickness of the free end 110R of the base 110. The mortise 116 has a section of substantially trapezoidal shape, the base of which is directed towards the outside of the free end 110R.

[0101] The two ribs 118 extend on either side of the mortise 116, also over the entire thickness of the free end 110R of the base 110, partially delimiting said mortise 116 in order to block a complementary shaped portion of the insulator 13 (rib) in the mortise 116 and between the two ribs 118 (dovetail connection), as will be explained below.

[0102] Fixing system 12

[0103] In the example illustrated in particular in Figures 1 and 17, the fixing system 12 comprises a plate 12P, two screws 12V and two nuts 12E.

[0104] The plate 12P comprises two orifices 12-1 arranged to be opposite the two fixing orifices 121 of the two fins 120 of the body 11. In other words, the fixing orifices 121 of the two fins 120 of the body 11 and the orifices 12-1 of the fixing system 12 are configured to each be opposite one another when the fixing system 12 is placed opposite the two fins 120 of the body 11.

[0105] Thus, in this configuration, the slot 112 and the space between the fixing system 12 and the body 11 delimit a space at least partly in the shape of a T making it possible to receive a portion of the T-shaped stake 20, in particular the foot of the T. Each of the two screws 12V is configured to pass through an orifice 12-1 of the plate 12P and through the corresponding fixing orifice 121 of a fin 120 when the fixing system 12 and the body 11 are placed opposite each other. Each nut 12E is screwed onto a screw 12P to secure the fixing system 12 to the body 11 of the device 10.

[0106] Alternatively, the body 11 could be fixed directly to the stake 20 via two screws or two nails passing through the fixing holes 121 of the fins 120, or even be directly fixed to a wooden post for example.

[0107] Insulator 13

[0108] The insulator 13 is removable relative to the body 11, that is to say that it can be inserted and removed at will by a user, both when the device 10 is fixed on a stake 20 and when the device 10 is free, for example in the factory or in commerce.

[0109] With reference to Figures 9 to 12, the insulator 13 has a shape complementary to the proximal end 1 IP of the body 10 as shown in Figures 2 to 4.

[0110] The insulator 13 is in the form of a single-piece part made of a plastic material, for example by 3D printing or by molding, configured both to be mounted on the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11 in a removable manner by sliding connection and to receive the electrically conductive wire 40.

[0111] The insulator 13 comprises a blocking wall 131, a lower wall 132 and an upper wall 133.

[0112] When the device 10 is fixed on the stake 20 with the insulator 13 in place (as shown in [Fig.l]), the blocking wall 131 is parallel to the plane P2 and to the front of the device 10 in the direction of the longitudinal axis X, the lower wall 132 is below the body 11 according to the terrestrial vertical Y and the upper wall 133 is above the body 11 according to the terrestrial vertical Y.

[0113] The lower wall 132 delimits a cutout 132A which has a shape complementary to that of the proximal end 1 IP of the body 10 in order to be able to insert the insulator 13 on said proximal end 1 IP along the sliding connection.

[0114] The cutout 132A thus comprises a tenon 134, configured to conform to the mortise 116 of the proximal end 1 IP, and two mortises 135, configured to conform to the two ribs 118 of the proximal end 1 IP.

[0115] The upper wall 133 delimits a cavity 133A which has a shape complementary to the proximal end 1 IP so as to fit onto said proximal end 1 IP and block the isolator 13 in translation when it is completely inserted onto the proximal end 1 IP along the sliding connection.

[0116] Alternatively, the tenon 134 extends from the lower wall 132 to the upper wall 133 as shown in Figures 11 and 12.

[0117] The blocking wall 131 is offset from the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11 after insertion of the insulator 13 on the proximal end 1 IP so that the electrically conductive wire 40 can pass into the space between the blocking wall 131 and the proximal end 1 IP. It will be noted that the electrically conductive wire 40 can be positioned both before and after mounting the insulator 13 on the end proximal IIP.

[0118] In the variant shown in Figures 11 and 12, the electrically conductive wire 40 is positioned in the space of the insulator 13 delimited by the blocking wall 131, the lower wall 132, the upper wall 133 and the tenon 134.

[0119] In another embodiment not shown in the figures, the insulator 13 could be made from the same material as the body 11 and form a single piece with said body 11.

[0120] Offset accessory 14

[0121] The offset accessory 14 makes it possible to offset the insulator 13 in order to move it away, for example, from a stake 20 planted in a corner or a bend in the fence 30 and thus to be able to turn the electrically conductive wire 40, for example by 90°, to follow the shape of the ground.

[0122] In the example of Figures 13 and 14, the offset accessory 14 comprises a fixing base 141, an arm 142 and a support 143. The fixing base 141 is configured to be inserted on the proximal end 1 IP in the same way as the insulator 13. The support 143 is configured so that the insulator 13 is inserted on it in the same way as on the proximal end 1 IP. The arm 142 makes it possible to offset the support 143 from the fixing base 141 both in the direction of the longitudinal axis X and in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the longitudinal axis X.

[0123] Hanging accessory 15

[0124] The hanging accessory 15 makes it possible to hang the end of a wire electrically conductor 40, in particular when it ends in a hook, to insulator 13.

[0125] As shown in Figures 15 and 16, the attachment accessory 15 comprises a locking base 151 and a ring 152. The locking base 151 extends in a plane parallel to the plane P2 and comprises a stop 151A at one end. The ring 152 extends in a plane parallel to the plane P1 and is connected to the base 152 on the side opposite that of the stop 151A.

[0126] The thickness of the base 151 is less than the distance between the blocking wall 131 and the proximal end 1 IP of the body 11 when the insulator 13 is inserted on the body 11. The extension of the base 151 in the direction of the earth vertical Y is less than the distance between the lower wall 132 and the upper wall 133 of the insulator 13.

[0127] Preferably, the extension of the base 151 in the direction of the terrestrial vertical Y is less than the distance between the lower wall 132 and the upper wall 133 of the insulator 13 from which the diameter of the electrically conductive wire 40 is subtracted.

[0128] Alternatively, the ring 152 can be directly integrated into the insulator 13.

[0129] In a second embodiment of the body 11 of the device 10, shown in [Fig.8] in which only the proximal end IIP differs, the free end 110R comprises an edge 119A extending orthogonally to the plane PI and to the axis X and configured to receive a complementary shape of an insulator 13, and two receiving walls 119B of substantially semi-circular shape and extending from said edge 119A parallel to the plane PI and arranged so as to receive the insulator 13 of [Fig.8]. In this example, the insulator 13 has a partly cylindrical shape and comprises a holding orifice 13A, passing through it along its length, and a notch 13B for receiving the electrically conductive wire 40. Each receiving wall 119B comprises a receiving orifice 119B1 so that the two receiving orifices 119B1 and the holding orifice 13A are opposite each other to be able to hold the insulator 13 on the body 11 using a rod or a holding screw 13C.
