Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Gas treatment assembly and associated gas production installation
[0001] The present invention relates to a treatment assembly for a gas production installation, said assembly comprising: a first gas-liquid separation device, configured to generate a first gas flow and a first residual flow; a second gas-liquid separation device, configured to generate a second gas flow and a second residual flow; and a cooling device, intended to cool the first and second residual flows.
[0002] The invention applies in particular to the production of hydrogen. A hydrogen production installation is described in particular in application FR 22 14094, not yet published, in the name of the Applicant.
[0003] It is known to produce such installations in modular form, although they are surrounded by utilities (cooling, water treatment, electrolyte storage, etc.) which are generally shared. More precisely, small gas production and / or treatment units are arranged side by side, until the desired quantity is reached.
[0004] This results in a very large number of pieces of equipment, which generates:
[0005] - an increase in HSE (Health - Safety - Environment) risks, in particular particular linked to the risks of explosion due to the presence of hydrogen; and
[0006] - an increase in the size and floor space of the installation, in particular due to the safety distances to be respected between the different equipment or with the external environment.
[0007] Furthermore, due to its size and the weight of the equipment that composes it, a treatment unit in the form of a single unit is very complicated to transport to the gas production site. Such transport requires in particular the organization of exceptional convoys in the case where the morphology of this unit does not meet standard transport criteria, which considerably increases the cost of the installation.
[0008] The aim of the present invention is to propose a gas treatment assembly which is easy to install in a production installation, whilst allowing a more compact arrangement of said installation.
[0009] To this end, the invention relates to a treatment assembly of the aforementioned type, further comprising a first, a second and a third structure; the first and second structures being assembled respectively to the first and second gas-liquid separation devices, so as to form respectively a first and second processing modules; the third structure being assembled to the cooling device, so as to form a third processing module; said first, second and third processing modules being removable from each other.
[0010] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the treatment assembly comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations:
[0011] - each of the first, second and third modules has an elongated shape in a longitudinal direction, the assembly being configured to be arranged in an assembled configuration, in which: the first, second and third modules are arranged in the same horizontal longitudinal direction; and the first and second modules are arranged side by side, perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, each of said first and second modules being supported vertically on the third structure;
[0012] - the processing assembly is configured so that in the assembled configuration, at least one of the first and second modules forms a cantilever relative to the third structure;
[0013] - the treatment assembly further comprises at least one reinforcing element capable of be removably assembled to the third structure and to the first or second module, at the level of the cantilever;
[0014] - the at least one reinforcing element comprises an angle iron;
[0015] - the third structure comprises vertical uprights forming two planes pa parallel; and in the assembled configuration, each of the first and second modules is arranged in vertical support on the third structure and a center of gravity of each of the first and second modules is arranged in one of said parallel planes.
[0016] The invention further relates to a gas production facility comprising: a floor; and two processing assemblies in assembled configuration as described above, an upper portion of each of the assemblies being formed by the first and second modules of said assembly, a lower portion of each of the assemblies being formed by the third module of said assembly, the two assemblies being arranged side by side perpendicular to their longitudinal directions, a width being provided between the upper portions of the two assemblies, a space being provided between the lower portions of said assemblies, a width of said space being greater than the width between the upper portions.
[0017] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the gas production installation comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations:
[0018] - the installation further comprises at least one electrolyser capable of being connected to at least less one of the two treatment sets for gas production;
[0019] - the installation further comprises at least one movement device, said moving device extending at ground level, parallel to the longitudinal directions, in the space provided between the lower parts of the two assemblies, the moving device preferably comprising at least one rail, even more preferably at least two rails;
[0020] - the installation comprises a plurality of treatment assemblies as described above- above, arranged side by side perpendicular to their longitudinal directions; a plurality of moving devices arranged alternately with said assemblies; and a plurality of electrolysers, each of said electrolysers being connected to one or more of the plurality of treatment assemblies, each electrolyser being adapted to move along one of the plurality of moving devices.
[0021] The invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the drawings in which:
[0022] [Fig-1] [Fig. 1] is a partial view, from above, of a treatment assembly for a gas production installation according to an embodiment of the invention, in a dissociated configuration;
[0023] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a side view of the processing assembly of [Fig.l], in the assembled configuration; and
[0024] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a front view of a gas production installation, comprising the treatment assembly of Figures 1 and 2 in assembled configuration.
[0025] Figures 1 and 2 represent a processing assembly 10, also visible in [Fig.3].
[0026] As will be described later, the treatment assembly 10 is intended to be incorporated into a gas production installation.
[0027] The treatment assembly 10 comprises a first 12, a second 14 and a third 16 treatment modules. In the embodiment shown, the treatment assembly 10 further comprises reinforcing elements 17, visible in FIGS. 2 and 3.
[0028] The first treatment module 12 comprises a first gas-liquid separation device 18 and a first structure 20, integral with one another.
[0029] The second treatment module 14 comprises a second gas-liquid separation device 22 and a second structure 24, integral with one another.
[0030] The third processing module 16 comprises a cooling device 26 and a third structure 28, integral with one another.
[0031] We consider an orthonormal basis (X, Y, Z) associated with the set 10 in the assembled configuration of figures 2 and 3. The direction Z represents the vertical.
[0032] Each of the first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures has a substantially parallelepiped shape whose sides extend in the X, Y and Z directions. More precisely, each of the first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures has an elongated shape in the horizontal X direction, called the longitudinal direction. In other words, a dimension along X of each of the first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures is greater than dimensions of said structures along the vertical Z and along the Y direction, called the transverse direction.
[0033] The first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures will be described more precisely below.
[0034] Furthermore, as will be described below, each of the first 18 and second 22 gas-liquid separation devices is entirely received in an internal volume defined respectively by the first 20 and by the second 24 structures, each of said structures forming a protective cage for the corresponding separation device.
[0035] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first 20 and / or the second 24 structures are equipped with walls or any covering system on their sides to protect an operator from any risk of projection of flaming fluid.
[0036] Similarly, the cooling device 26 is entirely received in an internal volume defined by the third structure 28, said third structure forming a protective cage for said cooling device.
[0037] The first 18 and second 22 gas-liquid separation devices will be described simultaneously below, under the designation “the gas-liquid separation device”.
[0038] Preferably, the gas-liquid separation device 18, 22 comprises a main tank 30 having an elongated shape along X. The main tank 30 comprises in particular: a thermal insulation envelope 32; an inlet 34; and a first 36 and a second 38 outlet.
[0039] In the embodiment shown, the inlet 34 is arranged at one end along X of the envelope 32.
[0040] The main balloon 30 is configured to generate: a gas flow, at the first outlet 36; and a residual flow, containing liquid phase, at the second outlet 38. Preferably, the first 36 and the second 38 outlets are arranged respectively in the upper part and in the lower part of the envelope 32, along the vertical Z.
[0041] The main tank 30 is for example similar to the separation tank described in application FR 22 14086, not yet published, in the name of the Applicant.
[0042] According to one embodiment, the gas-liquid separation device 18, 22 further comprises one or more other elements arranged downstream of the first outlet 36. In the embodiment shown, the device 18, 22 comprises in particular: a expansion tank 40, opening onto the first outlet 36; and a desiccant conduit 42, arranged downstream of said expansion tank. The desiccant conduit 42 is in particular intended to eliminate traces of liquid in the gas flow before it leaves the device 18, 22. In the embodiment shown, the desiccant conduit has an elongated shape along X.
[0043] In the embodiment shown, the first 18 and second 22 separation devices are substantially identical. The first separation device 18 is configured to generate a first gas flow and a first residual flow; and the second separation device 22 is configured to generate a second gas flow and a second residual flow, as described above.
[0044] The cooling device 26 comprises at least one heat exchanger 44, 46; at least one pump 48, 50; at least one inlet (not shown) and at least one outlet 52; and preferably at least one filter to protect the pumps from generally solid residues flowing through the assembly. The at least one inlet is intended to accommodate the first and / or the second liquid residual flow, coming from the first 18 and / or the second 22 separation device.
[0045] In the embodiment shown, the cooling device 26 comprises a first 44 and a second 46 heat exchanger. Each of said heat exchangers has an elongated shape along X, preferably cylindrical. In the embodiment shown, the first exchanger 44 is arranged above the second exchanger 46, in a substantially coplanar manner along a vertical plane.
[0046] Each of the first 44 and second 46 heat exchangers is configured to cool the first and / or the second residual liquid flow upstream of the at least one outlet 52, as will be described below.
[0047] The first 44 and second 46 heat exchangers are hydraulically connected in series or arranged in parallel. In the embodiment shown, the first 44 and second 46 heat exchangers are connected in series; and the cooling device 26 comprises an inlet (not shown) opening onto the first exchanger 44 and an outlet 52 opening onto the second exchanger 46. In a variant not shown, the first 44 and second 46 heat exchangers are hydraulically arranged in parallel, each of said exchangers having an inlet connected to the second outlet 38 of one of the first 18 and second 22 separation devices.
[0048] The at least one pump 48, 50 is intended to move, towards the outlet 52, the liquid introduced into the first 44 and second 46 heat exchangers.
[0049] The first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures will now be described. In the following description, the first 20, second 24 and third 28 structures are oriented in space as in the assembled configuration of the assembly 10, visible in Figures 2 and 3.
[0050] Each of the structures 20, 24, 28 is formed of metal elements 60, 62, 64, 66, 68 of elongated shape, integral with one another. More precisely, each structure 20, 24, 28 comprises: a plurality of uprights 60, 62, extending vertically; and a plurality of members 64, 66, extending horizontally in the X and Y directions.
[0051] Preferably, each structure further comprises at least one diagonal 68, extending obliquely in a plane (X, Z), (Y, Z) or (X, Y). More preferably, each structure comprises a plurality of diagonals 68, extending in one or more planes (X, Z), (Y, Z) and / or (X, Y).
[0052] As indicated previously, each structure 20, 24, 28 has a substantially parallelepiped shape, elongated along X. Each of the vertical faces of a parallelepiped is defined by two uprights 60, 62 and two members 64, 66, forming a rectangular frame. Similarly, each of the horizontal faces of a parallelepiped is defined by two longitudinal members 64, extending along X, and two transverse members 66, extending along Y, said members forming a rectangular frame.
[0053] Preferably, each face of a structure 20, 24, 28 extending in a plane (X, Z) comprises a number of uprights 60, 62 strictly greater than two. Preferably, each face of a structure 20, 24, 28 extending in a plane (X, Z) comprises at least two main uprights 60 and at least one secondary upright 62, the main uprights 60 having in particular a section greater than that of the secondary uprights 62. Said main uprights 60 and secondary uprights 62 will be described more precisely below.
[0054] Preferably, each face of a structure 20, 24, 28 extending in a plane (X, Y) comprises a number of transverse members 66 strictly greater than two.
[0055] The or each diagonal 68 connects two adjacent members 64, 66, or two adjacent uprights 60, 62, of the same face of a structure 20, 24, 28. Alternatively, a diagonal 68 connects a member 64, 66 and an upright 60, 62 of the same face of said structure. Each diagonal 68 thus forms at least one substantially triangular assembly with an upright 60, 62 and a member 64, 66.
[0056] According to one embodiment, at least one structure 20, 24, 28 further comprises at least one wall assembled to the members 64, 66 and / or to the uprights 60, 62 forming a face of said structure. For example, at least one structure 20, 24, 28 comprises a floor 70 assembled to the members 64, 66 of the lower horizontal face of the structure.
[0057] The first 20 and second 24 structures will now be described in more detail. In the embodiment shown, it is considered that said first 20 and second 24 structures are substantially identical. They are designated below under the name “the structure” 20, 24.
[0058] The structure 20, 24 has a first length 72 along X and a first width 74 along Y.
[0059] In the embodiment shown, the rectangular frame defining each face oriented in a plane (X, Z) of the structure 20, 24 comprises two secondary uprights 62, located at each end along X of said frame. Said face further comprises at least two main uprights 60 and possibly at least one additional secondary upright 62.
[0060] In the embodiment shown, each face oriented in a plane (X, Z) of the structure 20, 24 comprises three main uprights 60. The two main uprights furthest from each other are spaced apart along X by a second length 76.
[0061] In the embodiment shown, at least one face 78 oriented in a plane (Y, Z) of the structure 20, 24 has an empty space, giving access along X to the internal volume defined by said structure. For this purpose, the face 78 is for example devoid of a diagonal.
[0062] In the embodiment shown, the structure 20, 24 comprises a floor 70 to which the corresponding separation device 18, 22 is secured, in particular the main tank 30 of said device. Said floor is in particular provided with openings for drainage but also the passage of all connection pipes between the sub-assemblies.
[0063] Preferably, the structure 20, 24 further comprises additional elements 79.
[0064] The third structure 28 will now be described in more detail.
[0065] In the embodiment shown, the rectangular frame defining each face oriented in a plane (X, Z) of the third structure 28 comprises two main uprights 60, located at each end along X of said frame. Said main end uprights 60 are spaced apart along X of the second length 76.
[0066] Furthermore, in the embodiment shown, each face oriented in a plane (X, Z) of the third structure 28 comprises a third main upright 60 and preferably one or more secondary uprights 62.
[0067] Furthermore, the third structure 28 has a second width 80 along Y.
[0068] In the embodiment shown, the third structure 28 comprises a floor 70 to which the cooling device 26 is secured. Preferably, the third structure 28 further comprises additional elements (not shown) allowing better securing of said device 26 to said third structure.
[0069] Preferably, at least one face 82 oriented in a plane (Y, Z) of the third structure 28 has an empty space, giving access along X to the internal volume defined by said structure, in particular to the location of the heat exchangers 44, 46 to facilitate handling.
[0070] The reinforcing elements 17 are intended to reinforce the assembly 10 in the assembled configuration of Figures 2 and 3. In the embodiment shown, the installation elements are substantially identical and have the shape of triangular angles, forming a right angle.
[0071] Each reinforcing element 17 is configured to be removably assembled to the third structure 28 and to one of the first 22 and second 24 structures, as described below. This notion of removability for these reinforcing elements 17 allows the transport of the modules in standard container type conditions, which avoids the need for more expensive exceptional transport.
[0072] In the assembled configuration of Figures 2 and 3, the first 12 and second 14 modules are aligned along Y and are preferably substantially in contact with each other. Furthermore, each of said first 12 and second 14 modules is arranged on the upper horizontal face of the third structure 28. The first 74 and second 80 widths are chosen so that each of the first 12 and second 14 modules forms a cantilever 84 along Y relative to the third structure 28.
[0073] Preferably, the assembly 10 is configured so that, in the assembled configuration, a center of gravity of each of the first 12 and second 14 modules is arranged in a plane (X, Z) corresponding to one of the faces of the third structure 28. The uprights 60, 62 forming said face are thus able to take the load of said module.
[0074] In the case of an installation by multiplying these gas treatment units, additional support bars can be installed to connect the units together and thus limit their movement and any risk of one unit tipping over onto another.
[0075] Preferably, the assembly 10 is configured so that, in the assembled configuration, each main upright 60 of the first 20 or of the second 24 structure is arranged in the same plane (Y, Z) as a main upright 60 of the third structure 28. It is advantageous, during construction, to first assemble the elements 12 and 14 together in order to then place them commonly on the structure 16 provided with its removable supports 17, in order to then add retaining bars between units.
[0076] Furthermore, preferably, in the assembled configuration, a reinforcing element 17 is assembled to at least one of the main uprights 60 of the third structure 28 and to the first 20 or second 24 structure located above said main upright. The reinforcing element 17 thus contributes to the load transfer between the module 12, 14 and the third structure 28.
[0077] More preferably, in the assembled configuration, a reinforcing element 17 is assembled to each of the main uprights 60 of the third structure 28 and to the first 20 or second 24 structure located above said main upright. Consequently, the number of reinforcing elements 17 of the installation 10 is preferably equal to the number of main uprights 60 of the third structure 28.
[0078] Preferably, the main uprights 60 of the third structure 28 and the lower face of the first 20 and second 24 structures are provided with means for rapid assembly with the reinforcing elements 17.
[0079] In the embodiment shown, the first length 72 of the first 20 and second 24 structures is greater than the second length 76 of the third structure 28. At each end, each of the first 12 and second 14 modules forms a cantilever 86 along X relative to the third structure 28.
[0080] In the following description, it is considered that an upper part 88 of the assembly 10 in assembled configuration is formed by the first 12 and second 14 modules; and that a lower part 90 of said assembly 10 is formed by the third module 16 and the reinforcing elements 17.
[0081] [Fig. 3] shows a gas production installation 100 comprising at least one assembly 10 as described previously.
[0082] The installation 100 notably comprises a floor 102 on which the assembly 10 is arranged in the assembled configuration described previously.
[0083] Preferably, the installation 100 comprises a plurality of assemblies 10, 110, aligned in the Y direction. An assembly 110, considered to be identical to the assembly 10, is shown in dotted lines in [Fig.3].
[0084] In the embodiment shown, the installation 100 further comprises a plurality of metal structures 104, arranged on the ground 102, each metal structure 104 being configured to receive an assembly 10, 110.
[0085] Preferably, the installation 100 is configured so that a third width 112 along Y is provided between the upper parts 88 of two neighboring assemblies 10, 110. The third width 112 is preferably chosen to be as small as possible to allow an operator access to the first 12 and second 14 modules, for example by means of a removable ladder (not shown).
[0086] Due to the overhangs 84 along Y, such positioning of the neighboring assemblies 10, 110 provides a space 114 between the lower parts 90 of said assemblies, said space 114 having a width along Y greater than the third width 112.
[0087] Preferably, the installation 100 further comprises at least one electrolyser 116, dimensioned so as to be able to be received in the space 114 provided between the lower parts 90 of two neighbouring assemblies 10, 110. Advantageously, the capacity of the at least one electrolyser to generate gas (H2 and O2) is proportional to the treatment capacity of the installation 100 for its proper operation.
[0088] More preferably, the installation 100 further comprises at least one displacement device 118, assembled on the ground 102 between two neighboring assemblies 10, 110. The displacement device 118 makes it possible to move the at least one electrolyser 116 in the longitudinal direction X, in order to place it in the space 114 or to remove it from said space. The displacement device 118 comprises, for example, at least one rail 120.
[0089] Even more preferably, the installation 100 comprises a plurality of electrolysers 116 and displacement devices 118. Each displacement device 118 extends along X between two neighbouring sets 10, 110 and makes it possible to move, into or out of the space 114 thus formed, an associated electrolyser 116.
[0090] According to one embodiment, the installation 10 comprises the same number of electrolysers 116 and treatment assemblies 10, 110, each electrolyser 116 being hydraulically connected to one of said assemblies 10, 110.
[0091] A method for producing the assembly 10 in the assembled configuration, in the installation 100, will now be described.
[0092] Each of the first 12, second 14 and third 16 modules is produced independently, on a manufacturing site. The connection of each device 18, 22, 26 with the corresponding structure 20, 24, 28 makes it possible to easily transport the module 12, 14, 16 thus formed, limiting the risks of deterioration during transport.
[0093] Furthermore, since the reinforcing elements 17 are removable, they do not impact the size of the modules 12, 14, 16 during transport.
[0094] Upon arrival at the site of the installation 100, the modules 12, 14, 16 and the reinforcing elements 17 are arranged in the assembled configuration of the assembly 10. The devices 18, 22, 26 are hydraulically connected, for example using flexible conduits in order to facilitate installation. The assembly 10 thus obtained is capable of being connected to the rest of the installation 100.
[0095] A method of operating the installation 100 will now be described. It is considered that the assembly 10 is connected to an electrolyzer 116 as described previously.
[0096] The electrolyzer 116 performs the electrolysis of water into hydrogen and oxygen. A first inlet flow, containing for example hydrogen and a water residue, is sent to the inlet 34 of the first gas-liquid separation device 18. A second inlet flow, containing for example oxygen and a water residue, is sent to the inlet 34 of the second gas-liquid separation device 22.
[0097] The first device 18 generates a flow of hydrogen at its first outlet 36 and a first residual flow, containing water, at its second outlet 38. Similarly, the second device 22 generates a flow of oxygen at its first outlet 36 and a second residual flow, containing water, at its second outlet 38.
[0098] The first and second residual flows then flow by gravity towards the cooling device 26, in which their temperature is lowered below the temperature of the electrolyser 116. The temperature of the residual flows is preferably lowered between 50°C and 80°C, more preferably between 60°C and 70°C.
[0099] At the outlet 52 of the cooling device 26, the cooled residual flows are directed towards the electrolyser 116 to be recycled.
[0100] Preferably, when the installation 100 is in operation, the electrolyzer(s) 116 are set back along X relative to the treatment assemblies 10, 110. However, for handling purposes, an electrolyzer 116 can be moved in the space 114 by means of the moving device 118.
[0101] The faces 78, 82 of the structures 20, 24, 28 providing access to the internal volumes also allow maintenance of the corresponding devices 18, 22, 26.
[0102] The configuration of the assembly 10 makes it possible to reduce the footprint of a plurality of such assemblies aligned along Y. The size of the installation 100 can thus be maximized relative to the available floor area 102.
[0103] Similarly, the arrangement of the electrolysers 116, which can be moved in the spaces 114, allows space to be saved for the installation 100.
[0104] The structures 20, 24, 28 allow easy installation of the assembly 10 and guarantee the solidity of said assembly in the assembled configuration. The installation 100 can thus be carried out in the open air, which reduces the risks of explosion by allowing the evacuation of gases (in particular hydrogen) in the event of a leak.
[0105] The outdoor installation of the installation 100 is facilitated by the provision of insulation for the equipment, but also by the very framework of the modules, which make it possible to support the pipes as well as the cables and electrical instruments.
[0106] The coating paints used for the installation 100 are preferably antistatic. In addition, the installation 100 is preferably configured to take into account the risks of lightning, with regard to the presence of earth connections and the distance to the lightning rod.
[0107] Similarly, the pumps of the installation 100 are preferably shielded so as not to generate static electricity.
