Description

Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE COMPRISING AN IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM ON A 12-VOLT BATTERY AND METHOD BASED ON SUCH A VEHICLE

[0001] The invention relates to the field of motor vehicle batteries, in particular a battery protection system in the event of a frontal impact on the motor vehicle.

[0002] Generally, this type of motor vehicle has a 12V battery, with its support and protections if necessary. The battery also has a circuit breaker with its support and protection if necessary. Generally, these elements are present at the front of the vehicle.

[0003] The battery may be housed in a protective housing secured to the battery holder. The housing may include battery protection walls and a battery circuit breaker.

[0004] In the event of a high-speed frontal impact on the motor vehicle, the forces must be transmitted to the battery holder. Indeed, it is necessary to protect the 12V battery and its electrical equipment. This protection is provided by the protective housing of the circuit breaker, which is fixed to the battery holder.

[0005] For environmental and accessibility reasons, it is impossible to fix the casing in the axis of the vehicle. In addition, the support of the casing on the support must transmit the forces in the axis of the casing.

[0006] An objective of the present invention is to remedy the defects of the prior art, and in particular to propose a battery protection solution allowing better accessibility and transmission of forces in the axis of the casing.

[0007] To achieve this objective, the invention proposes a motor vehicle in a spatial reference frame comprising a longitudinal axis along a direction of movement of the motor vehicle; a lateral axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and a vertical axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and to the lateral axis, the motor vehicle comprising: - a battery support; - a battery arranged on the battery holder; - a battery casing housing the battery, the casing comprising two casing pieces each housing a part of the battery, and fixed to each other around the battery, characterized in that each of the two casing pieces comprises at least one fixing piece in the form of a hollow metal profile, in that the fixing parts of opposing casing parts cooperate together to be fixed to each other, and in that each fixing part comprises a fixing blade arranged at least along the longitudinal axis, being fixed to the opposite blade.

[0008] Advantageously, the invention proposes a fixing solution having good mechanical strength with respect to a possible frontal impact. The impacts press on the metal part and the fixing of the blades, and have less impact on the battery and its elements.

[0009] According to one variant, the fixing blade is arranged in a horizontal plane along the longitudinal axis and the lateral axis.

[0010] This allows the blades to be fixed from above, and not to be hindered by the lateral bulk of the 12V battery.

[0011] According to one variant, the fixing blade comprises a fixing orifice receiving a fixing device, in particular of the screw or rivet type.

[0012] This allows the fixing blades to be easily fixed.

[0013] According to one variant, the support is metallic and the fixing parts are welded to the support.

[0014] This makes it possible to further strengthen the mechanical strength of the fixing parts and the support.

[0015] According to one variant, the fixing parts are made of stainless steel.

[0016] This allows the use of a material readily available in large quantities.

[0017] According to a variant, the casing and the support are metallic and in a single piece. welded.

[0018] This allows to reinforce the protection of the 12 V battery.

[0019] According to a variant, the two casing parts each comprise two fixing parts arranged laterally on either side of said casing part with reference to the lateral axis.

[0020] This allows for a balanced attachment on the lateral sides of the battery.

[0021] According to a variant, the two opposite casing parts are arranged along the longitudinal axis as a front casing part and a rear casing part.

[0022] This allows it to be adapted to a usual 12V battery housing configuration.

[0023] The invention further relates to a battery protection method for a vehicle according to the invention, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: - an installation step to house the battery in the battery housing on the support; - a fixing step to fix the opposing fixing blades together.

[0024] According to a variant, the fixing step comprises screwing the fixing blades together from above with reference to the vertical axis.

[0025] The invention will be further detailed by the description of non-limiting embodiments, and on the basis of the appended figures illustrating variants of the invention, in which: - [Fig.l] schematically illustrates a view in space of a 12-volt battery of a motor vehicle according to a preferred embodiment, on its support, and equipped with a casing; - [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a close-up view of [Fig.l] further illustrating the fixing parts and blades.

[0026] The invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a battery protection system in the event of a frontal impact on the motor vehicle.

[0027] The vehicle is described in the attached figures with reference to a reference frame in space comprising a longitudinal axis X along a direction of movement of the motor vehicle, a lateral axis Y perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X, and a vertical axis Z perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X and to the lateral axis Y.

[0028] The motor vehicle comprises a battery support S on which the battery B rests.

[0029] The support is made of a single metal part with a battery casing C, for example made of stainless steel. These parts can be welded together or separated.

[0030] The motor vehicle further comprises the battery B and said casing C which can also be separable from the support S and fixed thereto.

[0031] The battery casing C comprises a front casing part C1 and a rear casing part C2, between which the battery B is housed. The front casing part C1 and the rear casing part C2 are fixed to each other around the battery B, in particular by means of the support S. We can speak of opposite casing parts C1, C2.

[0032] According to the invention, each casing part C1, C2 comprises a fixing part PI, P2 in the form of a hollow metal profile. Thus, the opposite fixing parts PI, P2 cooperate together to be fixed to each other as illustrated in [Fig. 2]. The fixing parts PI, P2 are arranged laterally to the casing part C1, C2.

[0033] For fixing purposes, each fixing part P1, P2 comprises a fixing blade L1, L2 arranged in a horizontal plane along the longitudinal axis X and the lateral axis Y. Each blade L1, L2 is fixed to the opposite blade L2, L1 in particular by screwing. Thus, a fixing hole 01 is provided on the blade L1, L2 to receive a fixing screw F. The blades L1, L2 overlap so as to make their fixing holes 01 coincide and insert the screw F therein. The rigidity of the fixing screw F contributes to the mechanical strength of the battery protection system. The screw F is therefore chosen accordingly.

[0034] The invention further relates to a corresponding battery protection method.

[0035] The method comprises an installation step in which the battery B is installed and housed between the casing parts C1, C2 on the support S.

[0036] The method further comprises a fixing step in which the battery is fixed in the casing C. For this purpose, opposite fixing blades L1, L2 are fixed together by screwing the screw F from above with reference to the vertical axis Z.
