Description

Title of the invention: Method and device for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle. Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to methods and devices for alerting the presence of a video ticketing zone for a vehicle. In particular, the present invention relates in particular to methods and devices for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video ticketing zone for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle. Technological background

[0002] To plan a journey to be made with a vehicle, it is known to use a navigation system, such a system being for example embedded in a vehicle or implemented in a mobile device, for example a mobile telephone, itself embedded in the vehicle. Such a system uses map data such as digital road maps indicating the different road routes that the vehicle can take to go from point A to point B.

[0003] These map data are for example used to offer a driver the shortest, fastest, most economical route or the one that does not take a fast lane, etc. They can also be used by certain functions or driving assistance systems, called AD AS (from the English “Advanced Driver-Assistance System” or in French “Advanced Driving Assistance System”), to guide or control the vehicle in its environment to reach its destination.

[0004] Information on current traffic conditions, map updates, or weather conditions is used in particular to plan a route. Access to this information is sometimes the subject of a service provided by a service provider, for example the vehicle manufacturer, the manufacturer or developer of the navigation system. A user has, for example, access to this information on current traffic conditions, map updates, or weather conditions via a subscription to this type of service. This is referred to as information from a connected service. The navigation system uses this information to calculate a route or announce an event on a calculated journey.

[0005] Video-verbalization relies on video surveillance devices installed in public spaces and allows for remote sanctioning of traffic violations. In France, for example, video-verbalization was introduced in 2008 and the zones covered by video-verbalization are regularly expanding.

[0006] The location of video-verbalization zones is public, however such a zone is not easily identifiable by a driver of a vehicle traveling through it. Summary of the present invention

[0007] An object of the present invention is to solve at least one of the problems of the technological background described above.

[0008] Another object of the present invention is to better alert a driver of a vehicle of the presence of a video-verbalization zone nearby.

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to improve the user experience with regard to the information associated with a video-verbalization zone during a journey in progress.

[0010] According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle, the method comprising the following steps: - transmission of initial data representative of a geographical position of the vehicle; - receiving second data representative of a road map, the second data being determined based on the first data, the road map comprising a set of road portions; - reception of third data representative of a set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones, the set of video-verbalization zones being determined based on the first data; - determination of a part of the set of road sections associated with a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones based on the second and third data; - control of the display of the road map by associating a specific color with the part of the set of road sections on a screen on board the vehicle.

[0011] Such a method makes it possible to alert a driver of a vehicle to the presence of a video-verbalization zone visually. The driver is thus aware of the presence of this video-verbalization zone simply by looking at the road map displayed on the screen.

[0012] According to a variant, the method further comprises a step of controlling the rendering of an audible alert when the vehicle enters a portion of road of the part of the set of portions of roads.

[0013] According to a particular example of embodiment, the rendering of the sound alert can be configured via a human-machine interface.

[0014] According to another variant, the method further comprises the following steps: - reception of fourth data representative of a road route determined by a navigation system on board the vehicle; - determination of a set of intersection points between the road route and the set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones; - if a first intersection point of the set of intersection points corresponds to an entry into a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones, control of display of a first graphic object on the screen, the first graphic object being positioned at the level of the first intersection point superimposed on the road map; and - if a second intersection point of the set of intersection points corresponds to an exit from a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones, control of display of a second graphic object on the screen, the second graphic object being positioned at the level of the second intersection point superimposed on the road map.

[0015] According to another variant of the method, the first data are obtained from a receiver of a geolocation system on board the vehicle.

[0016] According to an additional variant of the method, the second and third data are received from a memory.

[0017] According to yet another variant of the method, the second and third data are received from a remote server.

[0018] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a device for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle, the device comprising a memory associated with a processor configured for implementing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.

[0019] According to a third aspect, the present invention relates to a vehicle, for example of the automobile type, comprising a device as described above according to the second aspect of the present invention.

[0020] According to a fourth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.

[0021] Such a computer program may use any programming language, and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.

[0022] According to a fifth aspect, the present invention relates to a support computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon a computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.

[0023] On the one hand, the recording medium may be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium may comprise a storage means, such as a ROM memory, a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit type ROM memory, or a magnetic recording means or a hard disk.

[0024] Furthermore, this recording medium may also be a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, such a signal being able to be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by conventional or hertzian radio or by self-directed laser beam or by other means. The computer program according to the present invention may in particular be downloaded from an Internet-type network.

[0025] Alternatively, the recording medium may be an integrated circuit in which the computer program is incorporated, the integrated circuit being adapted to perform or to be used in performing the method in question. Brief description of the figures

Description of examples of implementation

[0032] A method and a device for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle will now be described in the following with reference to Figures 1 to 5. The same elements are identified with the same reference signs throughout the description which follows.

[0033] The terms "first(s)", "second(s)" (or "first(s)", "second(s)"), etc. are used in this document by arbitrary convention to enable different elements (such as operations, means, etc.) implemented in the embodiments described below to be identified and distinguished. Such elements may be distinct or correspond to a single element, depending on the embodiment.

[0034] According to a particular and non-limiting example of embodiment of the present invention, the control of a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle is for example implemented by one or more processors of an on-board system of the electric vehicle or of a mobile communication device.

[0035] For this purpose, the method comprises the transmission of first data representative of a geographical position of the vehicle, the reception of second data representative of a road map comprising a set of road portions and the reception of third data representative of a set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones.

[0036] A part of the set of road portions associated with a video verbalization zone is then determined as a function of the second and third data and a display of the road map is controlled by associating a determined color with the part of the set of road portions on a screen on board the vehicle.

[0037] [Fig.l] schematically illustrates a vehicle and its environment, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0038] [Fig.l] illustrates a vehicle 10, for example a motor vehicle, in an environment 1, the vehicle 10 being for example in a road environment or on a parking area or parking lot, in a garage, etc.

[0039] The vehicle 10 corresponds for example to a vehicle with a thermal engine, with electric motor(s) or even a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors. The vehicle 10 thus corresponds for example to a land vehicle, for example an automobile, a truck, a bus.

[0040] According to a particular exemplary embodiment, the vehicle 10 advantageously carries a communication system configured to communicate with one or more remote devices or servers 111 via a wireless communication network infrastructure.

[0041] According to another particular exemplary embodiment, the vehicle communication system 10 is also configured to communicate with one or more mobile communication devices 11 in direct communication mode and / or by through the wireless communication network infrastructure. The mobile communication device 11 corresponds, for example, to a smartphone, a tablet or a connected mobile object such as a connected watch, also called a smartwatch.

[0042] A direct wireless communication mode is based, for example, on one of the following communication standards or protocols: - Wifi® according to IEEE 802.11, for example according to IEEE 802.1 In or IEEE 802.1 lac, for example according to a communication mode called infrastructure according to which the electric vehicle 10 acts as an access point according to an ad-hoc or direct communication mode, called Wifi Direct; - Bluetooth®; - ZigBee according to IEEE 802.15.4.

[0043] The vehicle 10 and / or the mobile communication device 11 are further configured to communicate with one or more remote servers 111, for example via the wireless communication network infrastructure.

[0044] The remote server(s) 111 each correspond, for example, to a server of the “cloud” 100 (or “cloud” in French). The wireless communication infrastructure comprises, for example, a set of communication devices of the LTE (Long Term Evolution) cellular network antenna type 110 (4G or 5G).

[0045] The communication system of the vehicle 10 comprises, for example, one or more communication antennas connected to a telematic control unit, called TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit”), itself connected to one or more computers of the on-board system of the vehicle 10. The antenna(s), the TCU unit and the computer(s) form, for example, a multiplexed architecture for the realization of different services useful for the proper functioning of the vehicle and for assisting the driver and / or the passengers of the vehicle in the control of the electric vehicle 10.The computer(s) and the TCU communicate and exchange data with each other via one or more computer buses, for example a communication bus of the CAN (Controller Area Network), CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate), FlexRay (according to the ISO 17458 standard) or Ethernet (according to the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard) data bus type.

[0046] The vehicle 10 carries, for example, a navigation and geolocation system, also called a GNSS system (Geolocation and Navigation by a Satellite System), for example a GPS type system (from the English “Global Positioning System” or in French “Geo-positioning system by satellites”).

[0047] According to another example, the mobile communication device 11 incorporates a navigation and geolocation system, also called a GNSS system (Geolocation and Navigation by a Satellite System), for example a GPS type system (from the English “Global Positioning System” or in French “Geo-positioning system by satellites”).

[0048] The vehicle 10 and / or the mobile communication device 11 is, in addition, advantageously connected in wireless communication with a remote device such as the remote server 111 via the “cloud” 100, such a remote device being for example configured to communicate with the vehicle 10 according to an OTA type connection.

[0049] The remote server 111 is for example configured to send data relating to the road infrastructure such as: - road maps, and / or - the location and availability of services, and / or - the presence of work zones, and / or - the presence of video-verbalization zones.

[0050] As illustrated in [Fig.2], the vehicle 10 incorporates, for example, in its passenger compartment, a display system comprising a screen 102 and a computer configured to control the display of content(s) of a human-machine interface, called graphic HMI on the screen 102. The computer corresponds for example to the computer of the infotainment system, called IVI computer (from the English “In-Vehicle Info-tainment” or in French “Infodivertissement embargo”) of the vehicle.

[0051] The screen 102 is for example touch-sensitive and corresponds for example to a screen of the LCD type (from the English “Liquid Crystal Display” or in French “Display à cristals liquide”), for example of the TFT type (from the English “Thin-Film Transistor” or in French “Transistor en film mince”), or OLED type (from the English “Organic Light-Emitting Diode” or in French “Diode électroluminescente biologique”). The screen 102 is for example arranged in the center of the dashboard 101, for example above a central facade. Of course, the position of the screen 102 is not limited to this example, the screen being able to be arranged in any position, for example on the central facade.

[0052] The screen 102 makes it possible to display content intended for the driver and passengers of the vehicle. The screen 102 is also configured to allow the driver and / or passengers of the vehicle to interact with one or more systems embedded in the vehicle via a human machine interface (HMI) displayed on the screen 102. For example, the screen makes it possible to control the IVI system or a navigation system embedded in the electric vehicle 10.

[0053] According to another example, as illustrated in [Fig.l], the screen 102 is not integrated into the passenger compartment but corresponds to a screen 102 of the mobile communication device 11, such as a smartphone or a tablet, connected in communication, for example wirelessly, with the on-board system of the electric vehicle 10.

[0054] The vehicle 10 also carries, for example, a set of at least one loudspeaker 103. Loudspeakers 103 are for example arranged in the dashboard, the front and rear doors, and the rear parcel shelf of the vehicle 10, on the right side and on the left side.

[0055] According to another example, a loudspeaker is not integrated into the passenger compartment of the vehicle 10 but corresponds to a loudspeaker of the mobile communication device 11, connected in communication, for example wirelessly, with the on-board system of the electric vehicle 10.

[0056] A process for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for the vehicle 10 is advantageously implemented by one or more processors of the display system, for example by a computer of an on-board system of the vehicle 10 such as the IVI system or the navigation system or by a processor of the mobile communication device 11.

[0057] In a first operation, first data representative of a geographical position of the electric vehicle 10 are received, for example by one of the processors mentioned above.

[0058] According to a particular exemplary embodiment, the first data are received from a receiver of a geolocation system on board the vehicle 10.

[0059] In a second operation, these first data representative of a geographical position of the vehicle 10 are transmitted, for example to a remote server 111 or to a computer of the vehicle 10.

[0060] Such a remote server 111 or a computer determines, for example, second data representative of a road map associated with the geographical position of the vehicle 10 and third data representative of a set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones, which it then transmits to the processor of the system implementing the process.

[0061] In a third operation, the second data are received and are representative of a road map comprising a set of road portions 22, 23.

[0062] It is then possible to position the vehicle 10 on this road map according to the first and second data.

[0063] In a fourth operation, third data representative of a set of geographic positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones are received.

[0064] The second and third data are thus received from a remote server 111 or from a memory. If the road map is defined in two dimensions, the second data represents for example a part of a global road map centered on the position of the vehicle 10 with a width and height defined as a function of a threshold distance, for example the road map corresponds to a part of the overall road map centered on the position of the vehicle 10 and with a width and height of 20km, 50km or 100km. The width and height are for example different depending on a route determined for example by the navigation system. Similarly, the third data represent for example a set of video-verbalization zones present around the vehicle 10, for example present within a radius of 10km, 20km or 50km around the geographical position of the vehicle 10.

[0065] In a fifth operation, a part 23 of the set of road portions 22, 23 associated with a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones is determined as a function of the second and third data.

[0066] Such an operation consists of crossing the second and third data, the part 23 of the set of road portions 22, 23 associated with a video-verbalization zone of the set of video-verbalization zones, subsequently called “the video-verbalization road portions” 23 is determined as the intersection of the set of road portions 22, 23 with the set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones. In other words, the video-verbalization road portions 23 are the road portions of the road map present in a video-verbalization zone.

[0067] It should be noted that these portions of roads with video-verbalization 23 are, for example, sections of a traffic lane or roadway, a parking area, an emergency stopping lane or an intersection.

[0068] Several categories of traffic offenses can be fined in these video-verbalization zones without interception of the driver: - failure to comply with signs requiring vehicles to stop (red light, stop sign, etc.), - failure to comply with maximum authorized speeds, - failure to respect safety distances between vehicles, - the use of roads and lanes reserved for certain categories of vehicles such as buses and taxis, - failure to wear a seat belt, - the use of a hand-held mobile phone, - traffic, stopping, and parking on emergency lanes, - the overlapping and crossing of continuous lines, - failure to comply with overtaking rules, - failure to respect bicycle locks, - failure to wear a helmet on a motorized two-wheeler, and - the offense of lack of insurance.

[0069] In a sixth operation, the display of the road map is controlled by associating a color determined for the portions of roads with video-verbalization 23 on a part 1021 of the screen 102 on board the vehicle 10.

[0070] According to a particular embodiment and as illustrated in [Fig. 3], the screen 102 thus displays the road map, that is to say the set of road portions 22, 23. Among this set of road portions 22, 23, the video-verbalization road portions 23 are represented in a determined color, for example yellow or orange, while the other road portions 22 are represented in another color, for example gray or black. A third graphic object 21 is also displayed and represents the geographical position of the vehicle 10 on the road map.

[0071] Thus, the driver of the vehicle 10 is aware of the position of the vehicle 10 and the nearby video-verbalization zones when he looks at the screen 102.

[0072] According to a particular embodiment, a rendering of an audible alert is controlled when the vehicle 10 enters one of the video-verbalization road sections 23.

[0073] It is understood here that the vehicle 10 enters one of the portions of roads with video-ticketing when the geographical position of the vehicle 10 coincides with the geographical position of a video-ticketing zone or when a distance separating the vehicle 10 from a video-ticketing zone is less than a threshold distance, for example the threshold distance is equal to 3m, 50m or 150m.

[0074] The sound alert is for example rendered in the loudspeakers 103 present in the passenger compartment of the vehicle 10. The rendering of this sound alert is for example configurable via a human-machine interface, for example via the screen 102 which is touch-sensitive. Thus a user defines for example a sound level for the rendering of this alert or deactivates this rendering of the sound alert in order to avoid any inconvenience or intrusive information.

[0075] According to a particular embodiment, in a seventh operation, fourth data representative of a road route determined by a navigation system on board the vehicle 10 are received.

[0076] In an eighth operation, a set of intersection points between the road route and the set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones is determined.

[0077] If a first intersection point of the set of intersection points corresponds to an entry into a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones, the display of a first graphic object 24a on the screen 102 is controlled in a ninth operation, the first graphic object 24a being positioned at the first intersection point superimposed on the road map.

[0078] If a second intersection point of the set of intersection points corresponds to an output of a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones, the display of a second graphic object 24b on the screen 102 is controlled in a tenth operation, the second graphic object 24b being positioned at the second intersection point superimposed on the road map.

[0079] According to another embodiment for which fourth data are not received, in an eleventh operation, a set of intersection points between the road portions 22, 23 of the road map and the set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones is determined and in a twelfth operation the display of the first 24a and second 24b graphic objects on the screen 102 is controlled. The first 24a and second 24b graphic objects are for example identical and positioned at the intersection points of the set of intersection points superimposed on the road map.

[0080] Such a process thus makes it possible to warn a driver of a vehicle 10 of the presence of a video-verbalization zone near the vehicle, or even to warn him of the entry of the vehicle 10 into such a zone. The driver of the vehicle 10 is in particular warned using information displayed on a screen, for example thanks to a particular color code applied to the road sections and the presence of graphic objects as well as via the rendering of an audible alert, the audible alert making it possible in particular not to take one's eyes off the road.

[0081] [Fig.4] schematically illustrates a device 3 configured for the control of a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for a vehicle, for example the vehicle 10, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The device 3 corresponds for example to a device on board the electric vehicle 10, for example a computer, or to a device on board a mobile communication device 11.

[0082] The device 3 is for example configured for the implementation of the operations described with regard to figures 1 to 3 and / or the steps described with regard to [Fig.5]. The device 3 can be produced in the form of electronic circuits or software (or computer) modules or even a combination of electronic circuits and software modules.

[0083] The device 3 comprises one (or more) processor(s) 30 configured to execute instructions for carrying out the steps of the method and / or for executing the instructions of the software(s) embedded in the device 3. The processor 30 may include integrated memory, an input / output interface, and various circuits known to those skilled in the art. The device 3 further comprises at least one memory 31 corresponding for example to a volatile and / or non-volatile memory and / or comprises a memory storage device which may comprise volatile and / or non-volatile memory, such as EEPROM, ROM, PROM, RAM, DRAM, SRAM, flash, magnetic or optical disk.

[0084] The computer code of the embedded software(s) comprising the instructions to be loaded and executed by the processor is for example stored in the memory 31.

[0085] According to various particular and non-limiting embodiments, the device 3 is coupled in communication with other similar devices or systems (for example other computers) and / or with communication devices, for example a TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit” or in French “Telematic Control Unit”), for example via a communication bus or through dedicated input / output ports.

The communication interface 33 corresponds for example to a transmitter configured to transmit and receive information and / or data via the communication channel 330. The communication interface 33 corresponds for example to a wired network of the CAN type (from the English “Controller Area Network” or in French “Réseau de contrôles”), CAN FD (from the English “Flexible Data-Rate Controller Area Network”, FlexRay (standardized by ISO 17458) or Ethernet (standardized by ISO / IEC 802-3).

[0088] According to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment, the device 3 can provide output signals to one or more external devices, such as a display screen 340, touch-sensitive or not, one or more speakers 350 and / or other peripherals 360 (projection system) via the output interfaces 34, 35, 36 respectively. According to a variant, one or other of the external devices is integrated into the device 3.

[0089] [Fig.5] illustrates a flowchart of the different steps of a method for controlling a display system associated with a system for alerting the presence of a video verbalization zone for the vehicle, for example for the vehicle 10, according to a particular embodiment.

[0090] In a step 41, first data representative of a geographical position of the vehicle 10 are transmitted.

[0091] In a step 42, second data representative of a road map are received. The second data are in particular determined as a function of the first data, the road map comprising a set of road portions 22, 23.

[0092] In a step 43, third data representative of a set of geographical positions associated with a set of video-verbalization zones are received. The set of video-verbalization zones is in particular determined according to the first data.

[0093] In a step 44, a part 23 of the set of road portions 22, 23 associated with a video verbalization zone of the set of video verbalization zones is determined as a function of the second and third data.

[0094] In a step 45, a display of the road map is controlled by associating a determined color with the part 23 of the set of road portions 22, 23 on a screen 102 on board the vehicle 10.

[0095] According to a variant, the variants and examples of the operations described in relation to figures 1 to 3 apply to the steps of the method of [Fig.5].
