AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing solutions for improving vehicle grip and stability, such as aerodynamic profiles, stabilizer fins, and air evacuation systems, are either ineffective or pose safety risks, particularly in high winds, leading to loss of control and air jamming issues.

Method used

The use of symmetrical side boxes with specific dimensions and profiles, such as a 2-4 cm 'A' attack edge and 6-7 cm 'B' leak edge, and a 10 cm height 'C' from the ground, arranged vertically, to manage airflow effectively and prevent air jamming, manufactured in composite or injectable materials.

Benefits of technology

Enhances vehicle stability and grip by reducing air cushion formation and air jamming, ensuring safety and control even in high winds, while maintaining optimal aerodynamic performance.

Abstract

A device that improves the stability of moving vehicles. The present invention relates to a profile and dimensions for the use of vertical fins "D" that evacuate all or part of the air cushion that forms under the vehicle when it is in motion. It is necessary to adhere to specific fin dimensions and profiles that channel the air cushion from the underside of the vehicle towards the vehicle's sides. For greater efficiency, it is preferable to have several vertical fins "D" arranged one behind the other. Figure 1 (for the abstract).

Description

Title of the invention: Device for improving the stability of moving vehicles

[0001] The present invention relates to pairs of side sills, symmetrical to each other with respect to the median vertical plane of the vehicle under which this invention is adapted and whose proposed profiles and dimensions are to be respected, for an optimum improvement of the road holding of road vehicles.

[0002] Technical field:- The present invention relates mainly to the automotive sector and more particularly, to the sector of rocker panels adapting to the undercarriages of motor vehicles.

[0003] Technical problem to be solved: When a road vehicle is moving, an air cushion tends to form beneath it, creating a resultant of upward vertical forces whose magnitude increases with the vehicle's speed. This resultant force causes a loss of tire grip. This grip is necessary for maintaining the vehicle's trajectory, for better use of engine power, and for improved braking.

[0004] Prior techniques: - To address the problem mentioned in the section (Technical problem to be solved) of this document, several solutions have been developed:

[0005] The upper surface of the bodywork may have a profile that allows the vehicle to be pressed down towards the ground due to aerodynamic effects. However, the effectiveness of this solution is limited.

[0006] A stabilizing wing can be mounted on the rear of the vehicle to improve the grip of the rear tires. However, as with the previous solution, the effectiveness of this solution is limited.

[0007] A bodywork underbody can consist of half-venturis and side edges (skirts), this process creates a depression under the vehicle, an effect which can be dangerous in the event of the vehicle being lifted, because the vehicle becomes uncontrollable.

[0008] A fin system has been created to evacuate the air cushion from under the vehicle to the vehicle's sides. However, an improperly designed profile of this system can, in some cases, reduce the vehicle's road-holding effectiveness. An unsuitable fin profile, positioned on the underbody, risks causing the vehicle to become airborne and potentially rise vertically. In the event of very strong headwinds, if the air evacuation system has any constrictions, the vehicle thus equipped, will experience air-floating effects due to air congestion in the air evacuation device.

[0009] Proposed technical solutions:- The present invention will reduce the risks of danger by respecting the dimensions and profiles of the air evacuation device through the sides of the vehicle (see figures: No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4).

[0010] To reduce air turbulence in strong winds, it is preferable that the airflow between the ailerons "D" should go from the leading edge "A" to the trailing edge "B", flaring out (see figures: No. 3 and No. 4), but above all, there must be no constrictions going from the leading edge "A" to the trailing edge "B".

[0011] It is preferable that the leading edge "A" of the fins "D" be about 2 to 4 centimeters high.

[0012] It is preferable that the trailing edge "B" of the fins "D" have a height of no more than 3 times the height of the leading edge "A".

[0013] It is preferable that the height "C" between the bottom of the rocker panel and the ground be about 10 centimeters or more (see figures: No. 2 and No. 3).

[0014] For better efficiency, it is preferable that there be several vertical fins "D" one behind the other (see figures: No. 1 and No. 4).

[0015] In the case of a leading edge "A" of 4 centimeters of the ailerons "D", it is preferable that the trailing edge "B" of the ailerons "D" have a maximum height of 6 to 7 centimeters.

[0016] Manufacturing: This device can be manufactured from composite materials and / or injectable materials in a single molding operation, respecting the profiles and dimensions proposed for the production of the molds intended to manufacture the invention. Description of the figures

[0017] Figure No. 1: This figure is a three-quarter front left view of the rocker panel assembly, without any constriction. The letter "E" indicates the front of the vehicle and the letter "F" indicates the rear of the vehicle.

[0018] Figure No. 2:- This figure is a cross-sectional front view of the underbody device, attached under the vehicle and not presenting any restriction of the airflow.

[0019] Figure No. 3: - This figure is a cross-sectional front view of the underbody device, attached under the vehicle and showing a flare of the airflow from the leading edge "A" to the trailing edge "B".

[0020] Figure No. 4: This figure is a top-view representation of the rocker panel assembly, showing a flared profile. The arrow in the middle of the figure indicates the direction of forward movement of the vehicle.
