Title of the invention: Adaptively shuttered side junction device
[0001] The present invention relates to a lateral junction device allowing the adaptive sealing of the circular end of a cylindrical envelope on coaxial cylindrical objects of variable diameter, without tools, thanks to an adaptable flexible conical flank.
[0002] When placing an envelope (for example a protective envelope) on a coaxial cylindrical object (for example a pipe) of diameter smaller than this, it is difficult, in the current state of the art, to ensure correct sealing of the sides of the cylindrical envelope with said object without proceeding:
[0003] - either to a tailor-made adaptation which is often complex and time-consuming and which, in addition, requires tools,
[0004] - either to an adaptation of the diameter using folds, a technique which, in addition to the distinctive aspect graceful of the final rendering, does not allow for a satisfactory closure and which also prohibits the possible use of a padded envelope (for example insulation) with which it is difficult or even impossible to form folds.
[0005] The device according to the present invention aims to remedy these difficulties.
[0006] It is composed of a shutter diaphragm consisting of a flexible disc split radially on its radius and adjustable by helical overlap. Depending on the helical overlap angle and the extent of the overlap, it is possible to obtain perfect systematic adaptation both to the outer casing and to the coaxial core of smaller diameter that it surrounds.
[0007] Once manually fixed to the cylindrical outer casing by means, for example, of self-gripping fasteners placed on its periphery, the position of the closure flank is held in place on the coaxial core also using, for example, self-gripping straps.
[0008] Depending on the particular methods of implementation, the adaptable closure diaphragm can be made of any flexible material such as, for example, textile material, or coated glass fabric, or even rubber, depending on the desired objective. Similarly, the device for fixing the closure diaphragm in position can consist of self-gripping straps or adjustable buckle straps, or even laces or hooks.

[0012] With reference to [Fig.l], the device comprises a flexible diaphragm (1) split radially on its radius (2) which allows, by overlapping, to obtain the helicoid shape and authorizes on the one hand the opening of the passage of the coaxial core in the center (3) and on the other hand, by an axial torsion, an adjustment to it (3) of variable diameter, by varying independently the internal and external circumferences (4). The external face of the skirt has on a part of its circumference, at the entrance of the helicoid, a self-gripping strip (5) on which the internal strip (6) is hooked, at the exit of the helicoid, thus guaranteeing perfect maintenance of the tightening whatever the angle of overlap.
[0013] In the embodiment of [Fig.2] the device allows adaptation of the closure flank independently to the diameter DI or D2 of the outer envelope and to that of the coaxial core by simple variation of the angle alpha of the cone, the value of which is a function of both the axial torsion and the helical overlap.

Claims
1. - Lateral junction device allowing the adaptive sealing of the sides of a cylindrical envelope on objects which are also cylindrical and have a smaller diameter, without tools or disassembly, characterized in that it comprises a conical sealing diaphragm of the side of the envelope produced by means of a flexible wall consisting of a circle split radially on its radius and adjustable by helical covering of the lips thereof.
2. - Device according to claim 1 characterized in that depending on the extent of the overlap it is possible to obtain a perfect adaptation to the coaxial core by allowing effective contact at the periphery of the latter by tightening the diaphragm on it.
3. - Device according to claim 1 or claim 2 characterized in that the outer diameter of the diaphragm and the inner diameter thereof can be adjusted independently by changing the angle of the helical overlap and subsequently changing the angle of the cone formed by the diaphragm.
4. - Device according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that once adjusted, the position of the shutter diaphragm is maintained using a fixing device.
