Description

Title of the invention: Injection-molded fitting with integrated pins for mounting sofa frames

[0001] Object and invention

[0002] The invention, as described in the present description, relates to a fitting with incorporated pins for the mounting of sofa boxes, and brings, to the function for which it is intended, advantages and characteristics, described in detail below, which represent an improvement over the current state of the art.

[0003] More particularly, the object of the invention relates to a fitting of the type intended to allow the assembly of two parts of a piece of furniture, in particular intended to assemble perpendicularly two adjacent partitions of the frame of a sofa bed, which has the advantageous feature of having, integrated as an integral part of the injected part itself, which constitutes the fitting, pins or dowels which, intended to be inserted into holes made for this purpose in the partitions, give robustness to the assembly, and allow, among other advantages, an easier and faster assembly of said sofa bed. technical field

[0004] The field of application of the present invention belongs to the furniture sector and more particularly to the field of the industry dedicated to the manufacture of fittings and accessories for the assembly of furniture. State of the art

[0005] In the furniture and joinery sector, it is common to use pins or dowels to allow for a more robust assembly between two parts of a piece of furniture, for example, between two boards or partitions joined at an angle. These pins or dowels are generally made of a cylindrical or slightly conical section of wood, metal, or other material, which is either inserted tightly into respective perforations made for this purpose in the two parts to be joined, usually by adding glue, or permanently fixed in one of the parts and then pressed into place in the other. This type of assembly, although it provides robustness, has the disadvantage of being laborious to set up and requiring the insertion of a greater number of parts.

[0006] Furthermore, it is also well known that fittings are used to assemble adjacent furniture pieces by screwing them together, said fittings generally consisting of a simple perforated plate, made of metal or another material, designed to accommodate the fixing screws. This type of assembly, although less robust, is faster.

[0007] Thus, the essential objective of the present invention is the development of an improved type of fitting which combines the two types of assembly, i.e. with pins and screwing, taking advantage of the benefits of each, but without presenting the drawbacks.

[0008] In addition, a second objective of the invention is to provide a fitting specifically designed to facilitate the assembly of sofa bed type furniture, in particular for the assembly of the box which corresponds to the lower part of the sofa and in which, often, feet are included at the corners, where the partitions of said box are assembled, given that the fittings currently existing for this type of furniture do not allow the feet to be changed without first dismantling the fitting itself.

[0009] Moreover, and with reference to the current state of the art, at least to the applicant's knowledge, there is no other fitting with integrated pins for mounting sofa boxes, nor any other invention of similar application, having technical, structural and constitutive characteristics identical or similar to those claimed in this document. Description of the invention

[0010] The injected fitting with incorporated pins for the mounting of sofa boxes proposed by the invention constitutes an ideal solution for the aforementioned objective which, at the same time, represents an improvement over already known solutions, the characteristic details which make it possible and which distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims which are attached to the present description.

[0011] The invention proposes, as previously indicated, a fitting intended to allow the assembly of two parts of a piece of furniture, in particular to assemble at right angles or perpendicularly the adjacent partitions of the frame of a sofa bed, with the particularity that said fitting, consisting of an angular plate with at least two perpendicular sides and provided with perforations on said two sides to allow the insertion of fixing screws, is distinguished in that it further comprises several pins which are integrated into the injected part itself, as an integral part thereof, projecting perpendicularly from the external face of the two sides, so as to be designed to be inserted into holes provided for this purpose in the partitions.

[0012] Furthermore, in one embodiment, the plate that forms the body of the fitting is an L-shaped piece, from both sides of which the pins protrude from the outer face, and is mainly designed for mounting sofa boxes without feet, so that the adjacent partitions of the box are assembled directly to each other at right angles.

[0013] Furthermore, in another embodiment, the plate that constitutes the body of the fitting is a chamfered L-shaped piece, designed to mount a sofa with legs by interposing a leg between the ends of the adjacent partitions, at the four corners of the frame. In other words, the angled plate of the fitting body is folded into three planes: two ends, from the outer face of which the pins protrude, which are perpendicular to each other, and which are those that assemble the respective partitions of the frame; and a chamfered central plane with holes for screwing a leg onto the outer part, between the two ends of the partitions.

[0014] In addition, the body of the fitting includes, on the inner face, a series of crossbars for reinforcement which give more strength to the part.

[0015] It should be specified that the shape of the fitting can vary, both with regard to the L-shaped or chamfered L-shaped body, which can be quadrangular, round or of another configuration, and with regard to the position, thickness, number and inclination of the pins which protrude from it, which can vary according to the needs or design of each case.

[0016] Thus, the described injected fitting, with integrated pins for mounting sofa boxes, constitutes an invention whose main advantage is to allow easy assembly of the sofa, saving time in assembly, given that it introduces integrated pins.

[0017] It also allows the legs (or corner pieces) to be changed without having to disassemble the sofa, since the legs are screwed onto the outer part. This avoids the existing drawback whereby, in all sofa fittings, when a leg needs to be changed, the sofa must first be disassembled to perform the change. With the fitting of the present invention, this is not necessary, since the leg is fixed to the chamfered face of the fitting, on the outer part of the frame, and it is not necessary to remove the frame from the sofa to change only the leg.

[0018] Another advantage is that the use of this fitting reduces the cost of the sofa, because machining the uprights and feet that make up the sofa's frame or drawer is less expensive and simpler.

[0019] Thus, preferably, the fitting of the invention is presented in two variants, one for a sofa box without feet or corner pieces, composed only of two uprights (or long partitions) and two transverse pieces (or short partitions), and the other where the sofa box is composed of two uprights (or long partitions), two transverse pieces (or short partitions) and feet or corner pieces in the four assemblies of the partitions or corners.

[0020] On the other hand, the fitting of the invention also has the advantage of allowing greater play during assembly to adjust the parts of the box, so that they are completely adjusted and perfect to the eye of the end user.

[0021] Preferably, the fitting is made of a piece of fiberglass, without limitation, as it can also be made of any other injected material.

[0022] Finally, the fitting has several reinforcement points inside the part which give it more strength. Description of the drawings

[0023] To supplement the current description and with the aim of a better understanding of the features of the invention, this description is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by a set of figures in which, for illustrative purposes and without limitation, the following elements are represented:

[0024] [Fig.1a] and [Fig. 1b]

[0025] Figures 1-A and 1-B represent two elevation views, external and internal, of a first embodiment given by way of example of injected fitting with incorporated pins for the assembly of sofa boxes of the invention, more specifically, an example for directly assembling two adjacent partitions of the box, which shows the included parts and elements, as well as their configuration and arrangement.

[0026] [Fig.2a] and [Fig.2b]

[0027] Figures 2-A and 2-B represent two elevation views, external and internal, of a second embodiment given by way of example of the fitting according to the invention, in this case an example for assembling two adjacent partitions of the box, by interposing a foot between them.

[0028] [Fig.3a] and [Fig.3b]

[0029] Figures 3-A and 3-B represent two perspective views, internal and external top, of the example of the fitting shown in Figures 2-A and 2-B once mounted on the box, which shows its arrangement.

[0030] Preferred embodiment of the invention

[0031] With reference to the aforementioned figures, and in accordance with the numbering adopted, it is possible to observe in them two examples of non-limiting embodiments of the injected fitting with incorporated pins for the assembly of sofa boxes of the invention, comprising what is indicated and described in detail below.

[0032] Thus, as shown in the said figures, the fitting (1) of the invention, adapted to obtain a right-angle assembly of two partitions (2) of a sofa box (3), is of the type consisting essentially of a body (10) in the form of an angular plate with at least two end sides (11) in which are present one or more perforations (13) designed for the insertion of fixing screws (4) with which they are fixed to the respective ends of the said partitions (2).

[0033] Moreover, compared to this already known configuration, the fitting (1) is distinguished by the introduction of at least two pins (14) integrated as an integral part thereof, which protrude from the external face (a) of the two end sides (11) of the body (10) at an angle of the fitting (1), and which are designed to be inserted fitted into holes (not shown in the figures) provided for this purpose in the partitions (2).

[0034] In one embodiment, intended for assembling partitions (2) in boxes (3) without feet, the plate constituting the body (10) of the fitting (1) is an L-shaped piece with only two end sides (11) perpendicular to each other, from which several pins (14) project perpendicularly from the outer face (a) thereof, interspersed between several perforations (13) for the insertion of fixing screws (4). Preferably, three pins (14) project from each side (11), as shown in Figures 1-A and 1-B.

[0035] Furthermore, in another embodiment, shown in Figures 2-A and 2-B, intended for mounting a sofa frame (3) with legs (5) interposed between the ends of the adjacent partitions (2), the plate that constitutes the body (10) of the fitting (1) is a chamfered piece, that is to say, folded into three planes that define two end sides (11) perpendicular to each other, from the outer face (a) of which pins (14) project perpendicularly and having perforations (13) for the insertion of fixing screws (4) with which they are assembled to the respective adjacent partitions (2) of the frame (3), and a chamfered central side (15), in which openings (16) are also provided for screwing a leg (5) to the outer part of said side, between the two ends of the partitions (2), as shown in the figures 3-A and 3-B.

[0036] Preferably, the aforementioned openings (16) on the chamfered central side of the body (10) of the fitting have a grooved or oblong shape, so as to be able to precisely adjust the height at which the foot is fixed and to align the four feet of the box (3).

[0037] In addition, the body (10) of the fitting includes, on its inner face (b), a series of transverse reinforcing bars (17), which increase its strength.

[0038] Furthermore, although the fitting (1) can be of any size, depending on the dimensions of the box (3) in which it is incorporated, preferably its dimensions are between approximately 5 cm and 20 cm in height (h) and more or less 2 cm wide (1), corresponding to the end sides (11) from which the pins (14) protrude.

[0039] In all cases, preferably, the fitting (1) is made of a single piece obtained by an injection process, and preferably a piece made of fiberglass, although it can also be made of another injected material.

[0040] The nature of the present invention and the manner of putting it into practice having been described in a sufficiently precise manner, it is not deemed necessary to explain it further so that any person skilled in the art may understand its scope and the advantages which result from it, and it should be noted that, in its essence, it can be put into practice according to other embodiments which differ in the details from those indicated by way of example, and for which the claimed protection will also apply, provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, modified or transformed.
