Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Door stop device Scope of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of door stops, also known as door bumpers. A door bumper mounted on the door leaf is a simple but effective device for protecting walls and doors from impact damage by limiting the door's opening angle and absorbing shocks.
[0002] A door stop has several important functions in domestic and commercial environments: - Protecting walls and doors: The door stop prevents the door handle or edge from hitting and damaging the wall when the door is opened forcefully. This protects both the wall and the door from impacts and damage. - Keeping the door open: In certain situations, it is useful to keep a door open securely, for example, to ventilate a room or to allow easy passage. Door stops can be designed to hold a door open at a specific angle. - Control the door opening: Door stops can limit the opening angle of the door, which is useful for preventing collisions with nearby objects or furniture. - Improve safety: By preventing a door from closing abruptly, a door stop can reduce the risk of injury, especially to children and pets.
[0003] Door stops are available in various types and materials, including rubber, metal, and plastic, and are often mounted on the floor, wall, or baseboard. Some are fixed, while others can be adjustable or removable depending on specific needs.
[0004] Spring-loaded stop solutions are known, incorporating a spring to absorb some of the impact energy, thus reducing the collision force, or rubber or plastic stops: These flexible materials help to cushion the shock, effectively protecting the contact surfaces. Magnetic stops are used to hold the door open; they include a magnet on the stop and a metal plate or another magnet on the wall or floor.
[0005] Roller door stops, also known as roller door stops, are also known, consisting of a device designed to keep a door closed or open stably, using a roller (or roller) mechanism.
[0006] A roller door stop generally comprises a roller mounted on a spring. This roller is designed to make contact with a plate or receptacle fixed to the door frame. When the door closes, the roller passes over the plate and engages in a groove or notch in the plate, thus holding the door closed. The roller spring applies a constant force, ensuring that the door remains securely closed. To open the door, it is simply pushed or pulled with sufficient force to overcome the tension of the roller spring. The roller then slides out of the notch, allowing the door to open. To close the door, it is pushed until the roller passes over the plate again and locks into the notch. The roller door stop is generally installed on the top or side edge of the door. The location is chosen to ensure that the roller makes contact with the fixed support at the right time. State of the art
[0007] Prior art patent EP2281989B1 describes an example of a door stop device and analogous to one, the door comprising at least one handle and at least one lock. The handle allows the lock to be operated, the stop device being able to be placed in a stop position, in which it stops the door in the open position, and in a release position in which it does not interfere with the movement of the door and can be activated by means of the handle.
[0008] Patent FR311685 IB 1 of the applicant describes a device to be screwed to the bottom of apartment doors, which would act as a door stop. This new type of door stop can be very easily installed, without special tools, and reconfigured at will on the door, without any special drilling. It consists of a main body made of pre-drilled wood, prepared and calibrated according to the dimensions of the door, with a main drive wheel in constant contact with the floor, stabilizing springs, and a sheet metal support to be fixed to the bottom of the doors.
[0009] Patent EPI790809 describes another example of a door stop integrated into the door leaf, comprising an actuation mechanism integrated into the lock housing, a door stop piston with a piston, said door stop piston being guided in a housing and pre-tensioned downwards by means of a spring, and a traction member connecting the door stop piston to an actuation mechanism, characterized in that the actuation mechanism is housed in the door lock housing and has a movable actuation member between a first stable position corresponding to the unlocked position of the door stop and a second stable position corresponding to the working position of the door stop, said actuation member having an area or part protruding from the rear of the lock housing and connected to the member of traction or is connected inside the lock case with the traction member inserted into the lock case and returned via an opening at the rear of the latter.
[0010] US patent 2487427A describes a doorstop consisting of an inclined metal loop whose arms are bent downward at its upper end and then inward to engage a short length of rubber tubing. The arms are held in a suitable spacing relationship just above the rubber tubing by means of a wire crossbar. Disadvantages of prior art
[0011] Prior art solutions are not entirely satisfactory because they generally require user intervention to switch between the locked and unlocked positions. Furthermore, they typically create an unsightly protrusion on the door leaf. Solution provided by the invention
[0012] The invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a door stop device comprising a body suitable for being fixed on the opening of a door, and housing an actuation mechanism for a movable stop between a raised position and a locking position, characterized in that said actuation mechanism comprises a main wheel in contact with the ground, causing the movement of said stop by means of a kinematic chain.
[0013] Preferably, said main wheel is made of deformable rubber. The kinematic chain advantageously comprises a screw-nut system driven by a gear train coupled to said main wheel.
[0014] Advantageously, said kinematic chain includes a screw-nut system driven by a gear train coupled to said main wheel; the kinematic chain includes, for example, a first toothed wheel coupled to said main road, said first toothed wheel driving a second right-angle gear, driving the rotation of a nut interacting with a threaded rod locked in rotation, attached to said stop.
[0015] Preferably said actuation mechanism is supported by a plate linked to said body by an adjustment means in a direction parallel to the axis of movement of said stop.

[0021] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] represents an exploded view of a variant of this device in the operating position.
[0022] [Fig. 4] [Fig. 4] shows an exploded view of the device in the operating position. General principle of the invention
[0023] The invention relates to a door stop module intended to be mounted on an opening (100) by embedding it in a cutout (101) formed on the bottom of the opening (100).
[0024] The module includes a housing (1) having on its lower face a first window for the passage of a wheel (2) and a second window for the passage of a retractable stop (6).
[0025] A plate (11) is arranged in this housing (1). It includes the actuation mechanism, and in particular the support for the axle of the wheel (2), the means for moving the retractable stop (6) between a retracted position and a retracted position, as well as a kinematic chain for driving the movement of the retractable stop (6) by the rotation of the wheel (2).
[0026] This plate (11) is connected to the housing (1) by a position adjustment means allowing the position of the plate (11), and therefore of the wheel (2), to be adjusted so that it is always in contact with the ground. Elastic means may be provided to ensure constant contact of the wheel (2) with the ground, even in the event of uneven ground. The movement of the stop (6) may be linear, and ensured by a screw-nut system or a cam acting on a vertically guided rod, or rotary, to switch between a retracted unlocking position and an erect position where the end of the stop (6) rests on the ground.
[0027] The axle of the wheel (2) drives a kinematic chain consisting of toothed wheels, or cams or connecting rods, controlling the movement of the stop (6) during the opening or closing of the opening, due to the rolling of the wheel (2) on the ground.
[0028] Description of a non-limiting example of implementation
[0029] The body (1) is made of plastic or metal alloy and can be closed by two covers (102, 103) when the body (1) is not embedded in a cavity formed at the bottom of a door for example.
[0030] The plate (11) has supports for the shafts of the gears (30, 31, 32) of the drive mechanism and of the wheel (2). It has an external width corresponding to the internal width of the housing (1) so as to be able to slide vertically.
[0031] The adjustment is made by means of a wheel (12) positioned in a groove (13) provided on the upper face of the housing (1). This wheel (12) ensures the positioning of the plate and the actuation mechanism relative to the housing (1) by means of a screw-nut system.
[0032] The wheel (2) is mounted on an axle (30) driving a gear (31). This gear (31) cooperates with a second gear (32) to form a right-angle drive. This second gear has an internal thread cooperating with a threaded rod (8) connected to the thrust bearing (6), to form a screw-nut system.
[0033] The threaded rod (8) slides relative to the plate (11) by means of an anti-rotation device. For this purpose, the end (13) of the rod (8) is split and slides relative to a lug (14) preventing the rotation of the rod (8).
[0034] This assembly, in working order, retains its ease of use thanks to its deformable rubber wheel (5). The assembly would also be able to follow unevenness and irregularities in the floor thanks to its upper adjustment screw (12). The main body is fixed directly to the door via pre-drilled vertical and / or horizontal holes (8), depending on the desired surface or recessed mounting. It could also be painted to match the colors of the floors or doors as closely as possible. Hundreds of models could therefore be created, even customized according to the desired styles and dimensions. No more problems choosing based on the opening and passage; there would be a single model available.
[0035] The major advantages of this new system are: its very simple installation, accessible to everyone; requiring only a screwdriver, it would be very discreet, customizable, and able to be matched to the desired colors and designs in our apartments. Not only is it possible to vary the styles, but the module can also be made completely invisible by recessing it into the bottom of the door. Daily life in the home remains unchanged; on the contrary, everything remains unobstructed.
[0036] Fig. 4 represents an alternative embodiment where the main wheel (2) in contact with the ground drives a right-angle drive mechanism (31, 32) driving a wheel (9) with a thread cooperating with a threaded rod (8) controls the raising or lowering of the stop (6).
[0037] The end (13) of the threaded rod (8) is slotted, to form a guide slot cooperating with a lug (14) to achieve an anti-rotation of the threaded rod (8) /
[0038] Optionally, regardless of the embodiment variant, the position of the stop (6) in the retracted position can be adjusted by an adjustment controlling the positioning of the drive mechanism relative to the body (1).
[0039] In the example described, the adjustment is made by a knob (12) acting via a threaded screw on a plate (11) supporting the mechanism (31, 32), the main wheel (2) and the stop (6).
[0040] The action on this knob (12) allows the position of the plate (11) to be changed relative to the body (1) fixed on the door leaf in order to adjust the height of the axle of the main wheel (2).
[0041] By way of non-limiting example, the support will have dimensions and fixings that can vary depending on the travel and stopping distance we want for our door. It can therefore be prefabricated for doors ranging from 0.63 m to 0.93 m, also taking into account their weight. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to replace all existing traditional door stops on the market, to streamline apartment spaces, and to allow for installation without the need for any special tools.
