Description

Title of the invention: CLEANING COMPOSITION AND ASSOCIATED PROCESSES FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] This disclosure relates, in general, to the field of cosmetics, in particular to a cleansing composition and, more specifically, to a composition and processes for instant and lasting skin lightening and detanning. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Due to increased exposure to the sun and pollution in the recent past, tanning and dullness of the skin are inevitable. Therefore, radiant and glowing skin requires an optimized skincare ritual. This is generally a multi-step process involving a kit including a cleanser, scrub, toner, mask, and moisturizer.

[0003] A powerful cleanser typically performs a deep clean to remove dirt and sebum from the surface. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, lightening the tan and significantly reducing pigmentation. The detanning regimen results in tightened pores and hydration of the skin to retain moisture.

[0004] Many consumer products on the market claim to use a single cleanser to provide instant radiance in one step, replacing a lengthy skincare routine. However, cosmetic formulas cannot achieve several desired results at once. They must maintain soft, smooth skin while simultaneously providing instant and lasting sebum regulation and hydration for a non-drying feel, as well as a tanning and brightening effect.

[0005] Furthermore, there is a growing market demand for an easy-to-spread, highly foaming formula that rinses off easily, avoids leaving residue on the skin, and remains stable over a wide temperature range. The product should provide multiple benefits to the skin, improving complexion by targeting tanning and pigmentation from the first wash.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need for a cleansing formula with optimized stability and a pleasant texture, which not only provides instant tan removal and radiance, but also manages permanent sebum regulation and hydration, to obtain silky, smooth and radiant skin. Summary of the invention

[0079] The prepared compositions were transformed into foam and the volume of foam was observed. The observed stability and texture of the prepared compositions are presented in Table 2 below.

[0080] [Table 2] Table 2 Stability and texture of compositions A1 & A2 Serum texture, creamy and good foam volume B1 Unstable foam, very low viscosity B2 Unstable foam, very low viscosity B3 Unstable formula, unstable foam, reduced foam volume and density B4 Thickened formula, not the texture of a serum B5 Watery liquid texture, very reduced foam volume and density

[0081] It can be observed that the weight ratio between the sulfate-based surfactant and the fatty acids is significant for the serum-like texture and the stability of the composition. Reduced amounts of fatty acids resulted in an unstable composition (as observed in compositions B3 and B5), and higher amounts of fatty acids relative to the surfactants led to an unstable serum-like texture and resulted in thickening of the composition (as observed in composition B4). Thus, the fatty acids and surfactants synergistically produce a stable serum-like composition with the desired foam volume and density. Example 2 Instant Clarification

[0082] The brightening effect of the composition was tested by measuring skin color and skin radiance.

[0083] Protocol: Twenty healthy Indian women were recruited for the trial. Skin color and skin radiance measurements were performed using a spectrophotometer and Lightcam instruments, respectively, under controlled conditions. All women were asked to apply the test compositions (500 mg / half of the face) and were asked to wait 4 hours on site. Subsequent real-time and instrumental parameters, such as color and radiance, were then measured. Changes in the color reference scores, i.e., color shift (dE) and radiance (Gc), were measured. Measurements were taken immediately after washing, after 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and 4 hours, and the results are presented in Tables 2 and 3 below.

[0084] [Table 3] Table 2 Compositions dE_T0 dE_T30 dE_Tlhr dE_2hr dE_4hr Al 0.54 0.56 0.58 0.42 0.72 A2 0.53 0.48 0.47 0.55 0.61 B6 0.57 0.64 0.60 0.70 0.74

[0085] It can be noted that the composition according to the present disclosure worked at parity at all times, while composition B6 showed a significant increase in dE values confirming the decrease in the shine and radiance of the skin.

[0087] Gloss measurements have shown that the compositions of this disclosure deliver instant gloss as well as lasting gloss for a longer period. Control gloss measurements have confirmed that the composition of this disclosure does not exhibit a significant reduction in gloss and that the composition provides a glossy effect for up to 2 to 4 hours.

[0088] Thus, the data in Tables 2 and 3 illustrate the lasting brightness effect over a prolonged period of time. Tanning effectiveness

[0089] The composition of this disclosure has been tested for tanning efficacy by persistent pigmentation (PPD) measurements.

[0090] Protocol: 22 healthy Indian women with average skin were recruited for the trial, and measurements were taken using a spectrophotometer. The women were not exposed to direct sunlight for approximately 7 days. After 7 days, the unexposed skin was subjected to brightness measurements, i.e., a T-0 (L*) measurement was taken. Following this, for approximately 15 minutes, the women were exposed to controlled UV light to induce skin pigmentation, and a T-imm measurement was taken. After 24 hours, a new instrumental L* measurement was taken to record a PPD baseline. Then, the composition (Al) was applied to the skin according to the standard application procedure for 7 days, and measurements were taken on days 3 and 7.

[0091] It was observed that the Al composition exhibited a significant reduction in tanning (PPD) after 3 and 7 days of use. After 3 and 7 days of use, the PPD (tanning loss) was found to be 0.19 and 0.52, respectively, which confirmed a significant reduction in tanning loss. BENEFITS OF THIS DISCLOSURE
