Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Collaborative method for activating a vehicle function on a target vehicle and associated activation device. Technical field
[0001] The present patent application relates to a collaborative method for activating a vehicle function on a motor vehicle, referred to as the target vehicle, and to a motor vehicle which includes a central unit duly programmed to implement the method according to the invention.
[0002] It relates to the technical field of detection and identification of a user approaching a motor vehicle and more particularly to the field of device-free access systems called "hands-free" for the automatic opening of vehicle doors. Previous technique
[0003] In a motor vehicle, it is known to use vehicle function activation devices that can detect the presence of a user's hand or foot and thus allow the locking or unlocking of all or part of the vehicle's openings, for example, the doors or the trunk. For example, detecting the presence of a user's hand on or in front of a door handle, coupled with the recognition of an identifier of a "hands-free" access device worn by that user, allows these openings to be locked and unlocked.
[0004] A so-called "hands-free" access system for a motor vehicle allows an authorized user to lock and / or unlock the vehicle's doors without having to physically press buttons on a key. To do this, the vehicle identifies a portable device, such as a badge, remote control, or even a key, carried by the user. If the badge, remote control, or key is located within a predetermined area around or inside the vehicle and is identified as belonging to the vehicle, then the vehicle automatically locks / unlocks its doors according to the user's intention, without the user having to physically handle a key.
[0005] To do this, when the user approaches the vehicle, communication is established on a wireless communication link between the "hands-free" access equipment, for example an electronic badge or a smart mobile phone, and the vehicle function activation device in order to authenticate said access equipment using its identifier.
[0006] To this end, the activation device includes at least one radio frequency antenna enabling the reception of the identifier sent by the "hands-free" access equipment. The activation device is connected to an electronic control unit of the vehicle ("ECU": English abbreviation for "Electronic Control Unit") to which it transmits the identifier.
[0007] According to the prior art, the access equipment is generally an electronic badge. The signal received by the activation device's antenna, including the access equipment identifier, is transmitted via RF (Radio Frequency) or LF (Low Frequency) waves. The precise location of the portable equipment around the vehicle is achieved by measuring the intensity of the LF signal received by the portable equipment (via the antennas and the electronic control unit) from the vehicle, more commonly known as RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) measurements. The power of each signal received by the portable equipment from each antenna of the plurality of LF antennas located on the vehicle V is received and analyzed by an activation device, onboard in the vehicle, which thus determines, by triangulation, the position of the portable equipment relative to said LF antennas, i.e. relative to the vehicle.
[0008] Depending on the location of the portable equipment identified by the vehicle, in said location zones certain actions specific to said location zones are automatically carried out, unlocking / locking or prior activation of the interior lighting (also called "welcome lighting" in English).
[0009] The prior art activation method includes a standby phase during which the activation device emits polling signals at a slow transmission frequency, also known as slow polling or slow and / or long-range polling. This standby phase allows the presence of a badge to be determined around the vehicle when the vehicle is stationary and locked, while simultaneously reducing the vehicle's battery power consumption. If a badge is detected, it sends its identifier to the vehicle. If the badge is authenticated as authorized to unlock the vehicle, the vehicle then emits polling signals at a fast transmission frequency and short range to track the badge's trajectory and precisely determine its location around the vehicle.
[0010] However, when the vehicle is parked in a parking lot and surrounded by other vehicles, the signals it emits are reflected or attenuated by the surrounding obstacles. This impacts the detection of the badge, which only occurs when the badge is in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. The consequence of this late detection is that the vehicle does not have enough time to recognize the presence of the badge. During this At that moment, the user approached their vehicle and reached for the handle to unlock it. However, since the access card hadn't yet been authenticated, the door wouldn't unlock or open. This is known as the "wall effect." The user then believed there was a malfunction in the access system.
[0011] The present invention aims to overcome this major drawback of the prior art method and proposes a collaborative method for activating a vehicle function of a target vehicle, making it possible to avoid the wall effect by detecting and authenticating the badge early around the vehicle. [0027] [Fig.5]: [Fig.5] is a flowchart illustrating the different steps of the activation process according to the invention. Description of the implementation methods
[0028] Figure 3 shows a motor vehicle V comprising an activation device D for a vehicle function according to the invention. The activation device D according to the invention allows: a. detect the presence of a user U in a predetermined zone Z0 around the vehicle V, b. to authenticate the user's SD portable access device, in order to activate a vehicle function.
[0029] Vehicle function means locking / unlocking the vehicle V's openings, such as the driver's door or the rear trunk of the vehicle V, but also switching on the heated seats, switching on the overhead light ("welcome light"), or pre-setting the seats or a radio station, even before the user U has entered the vehicle.
[0030] The activation device D comprises at least two, or even four, transceivers, E1, E2, E3, E4 capable of communicating by radio frequency with a portable access device SD, for example a smartphone or an electronic key carried by a user U.
[0031] The activation device D further includes a central control unit 10 electronically connected to all the transmitter-receivers E1, E2, E3, E4.
[0032] This central control unit 10 manages the transmission and reception of radio frequency data between the vehicle and the SD portable access equipment via the transceivers in order to manage hands-free access to the vehicle. This is known from the prior art and will not be described in further detail here.
[0033] As previously stated, when vehicle V, referred to as the "target vehicle," is parked in an enclosed parking lot surrounded by multiple vehicles (see Figures 1 and 2) VI, V2, V3, V4, V5, referred to as "peripheral vehicles," the presence of walls M in the vicinity and the metal frames of the peripheral vehicles VI, ..., V5 generate numerous reflections of the low-frequency signal emitted by the vehicle to detect the presence of the access equipment SD nearby, and also disrupts the authentication of said equipment. The consequence is the "wall effect." by the user when attempting to operate the door handle of their vehicle because their access equipment was not detected or authenticated beforehand or early enough.
[0034] To avoid this drawback, the invention proposes a collaborative activation method and an associated activation device D enabling the presence of the SD access equipment to be anticipated in a highly reflective environment. a. To this end, the invention proposes a vehicle function activation device D, intended to be installed in the target vehicle and communicating by radio frequency with the hands-free portable access equipment SD, said device D comprising: b. Means for detecting the locking Ml of the target vehicle V, c. Means of switching to M2 standby mode and of detecting distance of the target vehicle's SD access equipment V, d. Means of receiving a request to switch to M3 wake-up mode from the SD access equipment, e. Means of switching to M4 wake-up mode upon receipt of the request, f. Means of detecting M5 SD access equipment in the area predetermined Z0, g. Means of activating M6 of the vehicle function if the SD access equipment is detected in the predetermined area Z0.
[0035] The locking detection means M1, the means for switching to standby mode M2, the means for receiving a request to switch to wake-up mode M3, the means for switching to wake-up mode M4, the means for detecting the access equipment in the predetermined area M5 and the activation means M6 are preferably in the form of software(s) preferably located in a microprocessor or hardware and are included in the central control unit 10 (see [Fig.4]).
[0036] The central control unit 10 also includes a processor 100 and a memory 101 (see [Fig.4]) in which instructions are stored to configure the processor to execute certain particular processing, in particular to implement the steps of the collaborative activation process, according to the embodiment as described below.
[0037] The locking detection means Ml of the target vehicle make it possible to detect that all the openings of the vehicle are locked, this is known to a person skilled in the art and will not be detailed further here.
[0038] The means for switching to standby mode M2 and detecting the distance of the SD access equipment from the target vehicle V consist of means for emitting low-frequency radio frequency signals, for example 125 kHz. Said signals Radio frequency signals are received by the SD access equipment, which in turn transmits a radio frequency signal back to the vehicle. Once received, this signal allows the vehicle to locate the equipment outside the target vehicle and track its trajectory. This is common knowledge and will not be detailed further here.
[0039] The means for receiving a request to switch to wake-up mode M3 from the SD portable access equipment consist of means for receiving radio frequency signals containing data or instructions requesting the vehicle to switch to wake-up mode.
[0040] The means for switching to wake-up mode M4 are capable of modifying the scanning frequency and / or power of the activation device from a standby mode, i.e., a slow frequency and / or low-power, energy-efficient transmission mode, to a wake-up mode with a higher scanning frequency and / or higher transmission power. By increasing the scanning frequency or the transmission power, the presence detection around the vehicle of the access equipment is performed more quickly and accurately. In an improvement of the invention, the means for switching to wake-up mode are capable of emitting scanning signals of a high frequency and / or higher power for a second predetermined duration.
[0041] The means of detecting the access equipment in the predetermined zone M5 are known to those skilled in the art. By exchanging radio frequency signals and by measuring the RSSI, or "received signal strength indication," from the portable access equipment SD, the activation device D is able to locate the position of said equipment around the target vehicle V and more particularly in the predetermined zone Z0.
[0042] The vehicle function activation means M6 V trigger the activation of the vehicle function, for example unlocking the target vehicle, if the SD access equipment is detected in the predetermined area Z0 around the target vehicle V.
[0043] According to the invention, the SD access equipment is also modified to carry out the collaborative process of activating a vehicle function.
[0044] For this purpose, the SD access equipment includes: a. Means for receiving and storing identifiers of peripheral Mil vehicles surrounding the target vehicle V, b. Means of detecting the absence of receipt of stored M22 identifiers from peripheral vehicles for an initial period shorter than a threshold duration, c. means for detecting the receipt of at least one M33 vehicle identifier after the expiry of the threshold period, d. means of comparing at least one identifier thus received with the previously stored M44 identifiers and of determining a correlation factor, e. means of transmitting to the target vehicle a request to switch to wake-up mode M55 according to the correlation factor thus determined.
[0045] The central control unit 10 also includes a processor 100 and a memory 101 (see [Fig.4]) in which instructions are stored to configure the processor to execute certain particular processing, in particular to implement the steps of the collaborative activation process, according to the embodiment as described below.
[0046] The means for receiving and storing Ml 1 peripheral vehicle identifiers consist of means for receiving any radio frequency signal including a vehicle identifier, emitted by any vehicle whose transmission range is compatible with the location of the SD access equipment. In an improvement of the invention, the receiving and storing means receive the vehicle identifiers for a predetermined duration.
[0047] The means for detecting the absence of receipt of M22 identifiers are capable of detecting the absence of receipt of stored identifiers of VL.. V5 vehicles for a first period less than a threshold period.
[0048] The means for detecting the receipt of at least one M33 vehicle identifier are capable of detecting the receipt of a vehicle identifier after the expiry of the threshold time.
[0049] The comparison means M44 are capable of comparing the received vehicle identifiers with the previously stored identifiers, in order to determine whether the received identifiers correspond to the previously recorded target vehicle identifiers. These means are adapted to calculate a correlation coefficient using any mathematical method known to those skilled in the art, enabling the establishment of a link between two lists of identifiers.
[0050] The means for transmitting a wake-up mode request M55 to the target vehicle are capable of transmitting a signal requesting the target vehicle V to trigger the wake-up scanning mode based on the value of the correlation coefficient, more particularly if the correlation factor shows a high correlation between the two lists of identifiers, the newly received identifiers and the previously stored identifiers.
[0051] The collaborative method of activating a vehicle function, illustrated in [Fig.6], will now be described.
[0052] The target vehicle V is surrounded by peripheral vehicles VL.. V5 as illustrated in figures 1 and 2.
[0053] In the first step El, it is detected that the target vehicle V is locked and that the portable access equipment SD is located outside the target vehicle V.
[0054] In the second step E2, the target vehicle V detects the distance to the access equipment SD and triggers a low-power standby mode, either by changing the transmission frequency and / or by changing the transmission intensity and / or power. In other words, the vehicle V (i.e., the activation device D) transmits radio frequency signals to said equipment at a low scanning frequency or low power, and as long as the equipment SD is within the predetermined zone Z0, the equipment responds, allowing the target vehicle V to estimate the location of said equipment SD. This switch to standby scanning mode occurs as long as the target vehicle V detects that the access equipment SD is located within a zone Z0 away from the target vehicle.Indeed, when the SD device is in close proximity to the vehicle, the vehicle activates a wake-up mode, with more frequent and energy-intensive emissions in case the user wishes to return to and unlock their vehicle.
[0055] In the third step E3, the SD access equipment receives the IDi identifiers of the peripheral vehicles located within its reception area. Specifically, the peripheral vehicles VI...V5, which are parked with their engines off, emit interrogation or scanning signals in standby mode. The SD access equipment is ingeniously configured according to the invention, and unlike the prior art, to receive and store these IDi identifiers. In an improvement of the collaborative method according to the invention, the reception and storage of the peripheral vehicle identifiers by the portable SD access equipment take place over a predetermined period At.
[0056] In the fourth step E4, it is verified that the SD portable access equipment no longer receives any previously stored identifiers for a first predetermined duration Atl less than a threshold Ats. This means that the access equipment is no longer within the range of the peripheral vehicle emission zones.
[0057] If no stored identifier is received during this first predetermined period Atl and if, after the expiry of the threshold period Ats, at least one IDI identifier is again received by the access equipment SD (see step E5), then in the sixth step E6, the at least one received identifier is compared to the previously stored identifiers IDj in order to determine if this identifier ID1 is that of a peripheral vehicle VI...V5. A correlation factor c is then calculated between the at least one received identifier IDj and the previously stored identifiers IDi.
[0058] If the received identifier IDI is recognized as a previously received and stored identifier, and therefore as belonging to a peripheral vehicle VI...V5, in other words if the correlation coefficient thus calculated C is greater than a value threshold Cs (step E7), then at the eighth step E8, the portable access equipment SD sends a request to the target vehicle V and upon receipt of said request by the target vehicle V, it activates the wake-up mode.
[0059] It should be noted that the switch to standby mode is carried out according to the invention even if the SD access equipment is not detected in the predetermined zone Z0 close around the vehicle V, i.e. the zone which allows standby mode, which is contrary to the prior art.
[0060] In an improvement of the method according to the invention, the target vehicle V remains in wake-up mode for a second predetermined duration At2.
[0061] At the ninth step E9, if the target vehicle detects the access equipment in the predetermined area Z0 around the target vehicle allowing the activation of one or more vehicle functions, then at the tenth step E10 the vehicle function is activated.
[0062] The invention is therefore ingenious because, thanks to vehicles parked near the target vehicle, it allows the presence of the access device to be recognized even before it is near the target vehicle, and to anticipate the activation of the vehicle function. This is achieved through a wake-up mode that is activated when the SD portable access device is not located within the predetermined zone Z0 around the vehicle, thus enabling the activation of a wake-up mode. The invention therefore prevents the user from encountering a locked vehicle ("wall effect") as in the prior art.
[0063] The invention is all the more advantageous as it requires very few resources, which are primarily software resources.
