[0003] This type of knife, known as a “switchblade,” offers great freedom for any artistic creation of carving (or other) of the handle, particularly because of the location and design of the mechanism.
[0004] The present embodiment consists of a new automatic blade locking system and the possibility of separating the handle to offer complete freedom for any artistic creation of sculpture or decoration.
[0005] The system is fully demountable, with the advantage of replacing one of its parts during maintenance but also the installation of another blade of choice for right-handed / left-handed use, or of different quality.

[0007] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The knife is composed of seven elements: the blade (1), the handle (2), a metal stirrup (3), a slide (4), and a spring-loaded latch (5), all held together by a through rivet. Each element of the knife is described below, with illustrations, as well as its assembly method; Figures 8A and 8B provide an exploded view of the knife.
[0009] The blade is drilled to accommodate a pivot pin. It has two notches, one upper, used to hold the knife open and the other lower, closed. The notches are slightly beveled to facilitate the sliding of the bolt and also to compensate for wear. This side of the blade is rounded between the two notches and around the pin, allowing it to pivot under the mechanism and maintaining the bolt in spring compression [Fig. 1].
[0010] The handle can be made of any material and various diameters, having the advantage of being completely separable to allow for any artistic expression. It is perforated for the rivet axis. The handle is grooved in a stepped pattern, the first groove accommodating the bolt slide, and the second the stirrup [Fig.2A] [Fig.2B].
[0011] The metal stirrup closes and reinforces the entire system by straddling the end of the handle. It is pierced bilaterally to accommodate the through rivet, handle, and blade. The upper part of the stirrup is openwork to allow the bolt button to pass through, thus enabling manipulation [Fig. 3].
[0012] The slide of the bolt is also metallic and fits into the groove provided for this purpose. The slide has a central notch through which the end of the blade passes, allowing the blade to be locked and unlocked [Fig.4].
[0013] The bolt of the latch has a notch allowing the blade to be released in the spring-tensioned position, while in the spring-tensioned position the blade is locked out of the notch. The end of the bolt that locks the blade is slightly beveled, which facilitates its sliding in the blade's strike plate notches and provides a wear compensation. The bolt also has a well to house the spring. The latch also has a button on the upper part of the bolt [Fig. 5].
[0014] The spring is housed in a well in the bolt, allowing for its stabilization. It has a long stroke for optimal use. The spring is released when the blade passes the striker notches, thus pushing the bolt to lock the blade. Manipulating the bolt tensions the spring to release the blade, allowing it to pivot.
[0015] A screw rivet passes through the stirrup, the handle and the blade, to hold the assembly together, thus offering a possibility of adjusting the tightening torque to compensate for any wear.

Single Claim: A knife comprising a blade, a handle, a metal stirrup, a slide, a latch, a compression spring, and a screw rivet, characterized in that transverse pressure on the latch compresses the compression spring, and by means of a notch system on the latch and the blade, the blade is released and can be manipulated to open or close the knife, and that in the closed or open position, the latch pin, which is located opposite the blade notch and is pressed by the spring, automatically returns to the blade locking position.
