Abstract

Title: Frequency Converter with Optical Resonators The invention relates to a frequency converter (1) comprising a first surface (10) for receiving signal radiation (S) with a frequency fs and pump radiation (P) with a frequency fp, the first surface comprising an array of optical resonators (11) configured to generate, from the signal radiation (S) and the pump radiation (P), converted radiation (C) with a frequency fs + fp, referred to as the sum frequency and denoted fSFG. The converter further comprises a filtering device (20) and a second surface (30) configured to receive the converted radiation (C) and to focus it away from the converter. The filtering device is configured to receive the converted radiation and the pump radiation from the first surface (10) and to limit the propagation of the pump radiation from the first surface (10) to the second surface (30).Figure for the abridged version: Fig.1A.

Claims

reflect any radiation having as its frequency the pump frequency fp.

5. Converter according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the second surface (30) comprises an array of nanoguides (31) configured to focus the converted radiation (C) out of the converter (1).

6. Converter according to any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the second surface (30) comprises at least one lens (32) configured to focus the converted radiation (C) out of the converter (1).

7. Converter according to any one of the preceding claims further comprising a source generating pump radiation (P), and configured so that the first surface (10) receives the pump radiation (P) from the source.

8. Converter according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the sum frequency fsFG belongs to a predetermined frequency range of interest, for example a high responsiveness frequency range of a photodetector.

9. Detector (100) comprising: โ€ข a converter (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, โ€ข a photodiode (2), the second surface (30) of the converter (1) being configured to focus the converted radiation (C) onto the photodiode (2).

10. Detector (100) according to the preceding claim in which the photodiode (2) is silicon-based.

11. Detector (100) according to any one of the two preceding claims wherein the photodiode (2) is a single-photon avalanche diode.

12. Assembly comprising a converter (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 8 and an optical fiber (3) capable of guiding the signal radiation (S) and the pump radiation (P) to the first surface (10) of the converter (1).

13. Assembly comprising a detector (100) according to any one of claims 9 to 11 and an optical fiber (3) capable of guiding the signal radiation (S) and the pump radiation (P) to the first surface (10) of the converter (1). [Fig. 2B] FIG. 2A 11 FIG. 2B
