Enforcing valid confidence levels

Abstract

A method performed by a unified data management (UDM) entity or a network element function (NEF), comprising: receiving from a second entity (an application function (AF)), a message including a reliability metric of an expected user equipment (UE) behaviour parameter (e.g. a UE location), the reliability metric comprising a confidence level or accuracy level; determining if the at least one reliability metric is out of range and indicating this to the second entity. The reliability metric may be considered out of range if it has a value less than zero (a negative value) or greater than one, or if it has an invalid value, such as a value not matching an expected metric type (e.g. a string or character being given where a numeric or number is expected). The message may be a cause value indicating an application error. If a reliability metric is determined to be out of range, a default value may be used instead.
