Abstract
Description
Field of the Invention The present invention relates to devices which are used to crimp sandwiches. Background The use of devices to crimp sandwiches is widely known and they aid in the production of sandwiches often, but not exclusively, to be further toasted. These crimping devices provide an alternative to frying a sandwich in a pan or toasting a sandwich in a sandwich making apparatus or a toasting bag. The crimping of the edges around the perimeter of the sandwich binds the sandwich edges together more thoroughly and prevents the contents from leaking out. The crimping devices usually have a set of crimping teeth disposed around the inner peripherals of an upper lid and lower base which are pressed together to produce the crimped edges of the bread sandwich placed within. However, many such sandwich crimpers do not provide certain features which are often required to be at hand when using them. The use of a grater for cheese or the grating of other toppings could be provided as part of the crimping device, this ensures that a grater is at hand at all times during the process. A chamfered base edge around the base that enables it to be used as a template and cutter to cut correctly sized bread for use in the device each time. Alignment markers on the lid exterior and base corners would offer the user a way of aligning the two halves of the device together using the markers as a visual guide. The bread and especially bread thins, because they are the approximate size of the device alone, can sometimes overhang a little and lining up the top and the base can be become difficult, wherein using the alignment markers as a guidance assists in this. The crimping teeth are sharp on other crimpers in the prior art which can be unsafe for younger users, such as children who could damage their fingers in them and the bread types which can be used in them are more limited and concentrate more on thins due to the jagged teeth’s cutting abilities. It would be an advantage if a more rounded crimping teeth arrangement was provided, such as a circular wave function crimping teeth arrangement, which is safer and able to work on multiple bread types due to it being less sharp which can pierce thinner breads while still providing a good seal. Holes located on the back of the base and a multi-purpose insert sandwich panel would help the user remove the sealed bread with ease, by being able to push the sandwich panel through the holes using a finger in each of the two holes and they also relieve pressure when pressing the lid and base together during the sandwich construction. The crimped sandwich is laid on top of the multi-purpose insert sandwich panel and is pushed out with it, without the user having to touch the sandwich rear and the release of the sandwich is therefore improved by way of the multi-purpose insert. In other known crimpers the bread often gets stuck and is difficult to remove, by the user pulling at it or slamming I shaking the base of the crimper down to loosen the bread, damage of the sandwich parcel can occur and undo seals. This is not only an annoyance and time consuming for the user but it can cause the seal to come loose and the contents inside the parcel to come out. The shape of the device may be squared and the bread may be more squared off in order to maintain and mimic the look of squarer bread and thins that will be used by the device and with the square look of standard bread and bread thins, there is less wastage as the product is also square. Examples of crimping devices in the art are shown below: Patent WO2023073361 (CRITCHLOW, HARPER) discloses a sandwich crimper for producing a sealed sandwich from two slices of bread comprises a crimper base (10) with a substantially flat lower surface (12) and a crimper lid (30, Fig 2) with a substantially flat upper surface (32, Fig 2). A bottom set of peripheral crimping teeth (14a) is disposed along the outer edge of the crimper base (20) and a top set of peripheral crimping teeth (34a, Fig 2) is disposed along the outer edge of the crimper lid (40, Fig 2). The teeth in each set of crimping teeth (14b and 34b, Fig 2) are formed from protruding trapezoidal prisms and the top and bottom sets of crimping teeth (14a and 34a, Fig 2) are complementary to each other along every edge of the crimper base (20) and crimper lid (40). A peripheral retaining wall (18) is disposed along the outer edge of the bottom set of crimper teeth (14a) for aligning the bread relative to the crimping teeth (14b and 34b, Fig 2) and restraining the sandwich during the crimping process. Patent USD962727 (TAWARRA) discloses a device to cut, seal, and crimp a sandwich. The apparatus is a sandwich maker that can apply pressure from both sides of the sandwich while sealing and crimping the sandwich, so as to make a perfectly rounded and spill proof sandwich. Additionally, the apparatus includes alignment pointers that enable users to create a crimped sandwich with perfectly crimped edges. Further, the apparatus includes multiple pieces and shapes that serve specific purposes and gives users the option to use them mutually exclusively. Furthermore, each of the different pieces of the apparatus have aesthetically appealing shapes and air gaps in the center, which enables users to release the sandwich easily. Patent (KRETCHMAN) discloses an integrated container crimping and cutting tool arrangement having a tub with an opening therein providing access to an otherwise surrounded volume, and a cover mountable on the tub having an opening at which the cover can be releasably mounted on the tub to prevent immediate access to the surrounded volume therein. In addition, this arrangement has a closed wall structure provided as a portion thereof having an ending edge terminating a closed wall which also has a crimping edge thereon offset away from the ending edge to allow pressing it against a sandwich to cut out center portions thereof leaving sealed bread edges. The prior art therefore shows that there is a need for a more effective sandwich crimper which has the addition of a grater for cheese or the grating of other toppings could be provided as part of the crimping device, this ensures that a grater is at hand at all times during the process. It also has alignment markers on the lid and base to offer the user a way of aligning the two halves of the device together using the markers as a visual guide. The crimping teeth are a more rounded arrangement using a circular wave function crimping teeth arrangement. This, as aforementioned, is safer and able to work on multiple bread types due to it being less sharp which can pierce thinner breads while still providing a good seal. Holes located on the back of the base and the multi-purpose insert sandwich panel are provided to help the user remove the sealed bread with ease by being able to push the crimped sandwich on the insert through the holes using a finger in each hole and out of the base easily and to relieve pressure when pressing the lid and base together. The shape of the device would may be squared and the bread may be more squared off in order to maintain and mimic the look of squarer bread and thins that will be used by the device and with the square look of standard bread and bread thins, there is less wastage as the product is square. The present invention aims to provide an improved sandwich crimper with these added features. With further added features which include; a chamfered base edge around the base which enables it to be used as a template and cutter to make correctly sized bread each time, from a variety of different bread types which are too large initially for the crimper. This is used in a similar way to a ‘cookie cutter to get the perfect bread template and in turn makes an exacting seal, also with exacting edges as two correctly shaped breads are getting sealed together with no waste. Alternatively for a more rapid solution the customer can avoid the aforementioned process by putting one bread on the base within the crimper, not cut to size and one on top not cut to size and then press the lid down into top to compress into the base. The teeth on the lid and the base are sharp enough to cut out the bread, remove the waste around the edges and create a seal. Therefore the device offers two solutions to getting the sealed sandwich parcel, but cutting to size beforehand creates a cleaner looking parcel with smoother edges. Summary of the invention According to the present invention there is provided a sandwich crimper device derived of a crimper lid with a flat upper surface, the lid surface having a centrally located grater opening into which a flat food grater is removably seated into place on a slight horizontally opposed rim around the entire opening, a top set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth, having more rounded tooth tips and rounded tooth undulated spaces between each tooth, are disposed along the peripheral outer edge of the underside of the crimper lid, with the slightly wider lid creating a slight overhang of the lid with a thin closing rim around the entire lid perimeter. A crimper base has a chamfered base edge around the top edge of a retaining wall body, which enables it to be used as a template and cutter to make correctly sized bread each time, from a variety of different bread types which are too large initially for the crimper. This is used in a similar way to a ‘cookie cutter’ to get the perfect bread template and in turn makes an exacting seal, also with exacting edges as two correctly shaped breads are getting seated together with no waste. This is something that is not found in the prior art sandwich crimpers as they have flat non-cutting base edges. Alternatively for a more rapid solution the customer can avoid the aforementioned process by putting one bread on the base within the crimper, not cut to size and one on top not cut to size and then press the lid down into top to compress into the base. The Teeth on the lid and the base are sharp enough to cut out the bread, remove the waste around the edges and create a seal. Therefore the device offers two solutions to creating sealed sandwich parcels, but cutting to size beforehand creates a cleaner looking parcel with smoother edges. The base also has a flat lower surface forming the bottom, having at least two release holes adjacent to each other in said flat lower surface to help release the completed sandwich and which also relieves pressure when pressing the lid and base together and a multi-purpose insert which acts, among other functions, as a planar sandwich release panel which seats into the interior side of the flat lower surface of the base, covering the two aforementioned release holes thereto. Further functions of the release panel include; helping to remove the sandwich parcel by evenly distributing the weight when pushed out though the release holes. The horizontally disposed multi-purpose insert can also be used as a mini chopping board, as a spreading utensil, and it also blocks the rear release holes in the base to allow the user to store ingredients or other items in the device, when using it for storage. A bottom set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth are disposed along the entire outer edge of the crimper base, protruding within a retaining wall body. The retaining wall body vertically disposed around the outer edge of the bottom set of crimping teeth forms the base body when combined with the said flat lower surface and aligns the bread inserted into the base, while restraining the sandwich during the crimping process. The crimper lid and crimper base are aligned together using alignment markers located externally on every comer of the lid and base, as shown in accompanying Figures. The lid and base of the sandwich crimper may be held together using a hinge clamp on at least two of the opposing exterior sides of the crimper base retaining wall. The hinge clamps allow the sandwich crimper device to be sealed and secured once attached and attached to the lid, freshly sealing any contents if in transport or a short period of storage prior to consumption, they are detachable to allow for cleaning and storing away when not in use and also can be re-attached along with all other removable parts of the device so they can be stored in one place. The only part of the sandwich crimping device that cannot be attached all the time is either the lid or grater, depending on which is in use. The clamping of the lid and the base together using the hinge clamps also acts to ensure that the maximum pressure has been applied, when crimping and where the flat or bread is able to be compressed as to enable the hinge clamps to be fully closed and to ensure the lid and the base remain together during storage and transport. The hinge clamp has a clamp elongate hook which hooks onto said closing rim which slightly protrudes around the whole outer edge of the crimper lid. The slightly protruding closing rim of the lid forms said slight overhang lip which, when the lid and base are closed together, engages with the chamfered base edge around the entire top of the retaining wall of the crimper base creating a tight closure of both the base and lid. The overhang also provides leverage for the fingers when removing the lid from the base after use. The base and lid are each substantially formed using a single moulded piece. In use, the crimper device base and the lid are separated and in one sandwich construction example only; a half slice of a thin is placed into the base and pushed downward to help ensure the entire slice is within the base. The edges of the slice of bread are currently laid over the top of the crimping teeth in the base. Various other types of bread may be used providing they are suitably produced for being sealed around their edges. Should the breads be larger than the device, they can be cut to size using the aforementioned chamfered base edge. The savoury or sweet fillings can then be added, this can include grated food items, such as cheese and may include using the provided flat cheese grater from the lid. The cheese grater may be used while in the lid to grate onto the open sandwich half below in the base or by being removed from said lid by pushing upward from underneath the grater and releasing it from its grater opening in the surface of the lid. The grating of food items may also be additionally used after the sandwich is completed and toasted using said grater. The grater therefore acts as a grater for multiple filling choices, enabling you to grate directly into the sandwich crimper base if needed. The grater may have a further dual function as a lid that can still be used to seal two breads together, without the need of replacing with the device lid if you do not wish to. The filling food items can vary to taste and it is commonly known not to overfill the sandwich half during this filling process, to avoid strain on the sandwich edges creating possible breaks in the binding of the two bread halves and leaking melted or warmed food out of the finished sandwich. When sufficient filling has been applied, which may include use of the said multipurpose insert as a mini chopping board or as a spreading utensil, the remaining half of the bread is placed on top of the slice in the base, ensuring the two slices are aligned with each other. The crimper lid is then placed on top and the alignment markers on the corners of the lid and base are aligned to ensure correct exacting of the base and lid. The user then presses down on the lid with their hands, applying force, to press the lid down ward pushing the bread down and forcing the two sets of circular wave function teeth to press firmly into the entire bread edges, crimping them closed around the entire combined sandwich edges. As said; the release holes relieve pressure when pressing the lid and base together. The lid is then removed and the crimped sandwich is revealed inside the base or with the disclosed invention the sandwich may be stored fortravel or short periods prior to eating by closing the hinge clamps on the outside of the device forming an enclosure. To remove the sandwich the user then uses two fingers with one finger in each of the release holes, with their fingertips now contacting with the rear of the said multi-purpose insert sandwich release panel, which is laid in the bottom of the base underneath the now crimped sandwich and is therefore accessible through the two release holes in the bottom of the base. The fingers forcibly push on the rear surface of the sandwich release panel, through the two release holes and push the release panel onto which the sandwich is laid, evenly distributing the weight thus also pushing and releasing the sandwich from the crimper base. During this process the crimper base would be held in the remaining hand to steady it. The sandwich is now crimped with sealed edges and may be toasted or in some cases eaten cold. As a summery and as explained, the use of the grater for cheese or the grating of other toppings may be provided as part of the crimping device, this ensures that a grater is at hand at all times during the process. Alignment markers on the lid and base offer the user a way of aligning the two halves of the device together using the markers as a visual guide. The bread and especially bread thins, because they are the approximate size of the device alone, can sometimes overhang a little and lining up the top and the base can be become difficult, wherein using the alignment markers as a guidance assists in this. Other sandwich crimpers also do not have a chamfered base edge for pre-cutting breads and commonly have base edges which are flat and unsuitable for use as a cutter. The sandwich release holes located on the back of the base relieve pressure when pressing the lid and base together when making the sandwich and when combined with the multi-purpose insert, act as a sandwich release panel, helping the user remove the sealed bread with ease by being able to push the sandwich release panel through the holes using a finger in each of the two holes. As explained, the crimped sandwich is laid on top of the sandwich release panel and is pushed out with it, without the user having to touch the sandwich rear and the release of the sandwich is improved by way of the panel. In other known crimpers the bread often gets stuck and is difficult to remove and by the user pulling at it or slamming I shaking the base of the crimper down to loosen the bread, damage of the sandwich parcel can occur and undo seals. This is not only an annoyance and time consuming for the user but it can cause the seal to come loose and the contents inside the parcel to come out. The multi-purpose insert also acts as a cover for the sandwich release holes in the base of the sandwich crimper to use the sandwich crimper as a storage box and for the user to store ingredients or other items in the device. The insert can also be used as a mini chopping board for ingredients, as a spreading utensil when constructing sandwiches. Therefore, the sandwich crimper can have the functionality of benefiting from the sandwich release holes, which as aforementioned are needed for a successful removal of the crimped sandwich, but also act as a sealed storage box to keep the goods inside fresh if needed. The base is compatible for fillings to fall onto if the user is using the grater lid directly into the sandwich crimper device or onto the hole cover if taken out of the device. A further function of the insert is to act as a plate for the crimped sandwich when toasted or cooked. The shape of the device may be squared and the bread may be more squared off in order to maintain and mimic the look of squarer bread and thins that will be used by the device and with the square look of standard bread and bread thins, there is less wastage as the product is square. In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting. As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the Patent Office and the public generally, and especially the scientists, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application. The abstract is neither intended to define the invention of the application, which is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting as to the scope of the invention in any way. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved sandwich crimper which has all the advantages of the prior art sandwich crimpers and none of the disadvantages. It is another object of the present invention to provide a new sandwich crimper which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed. It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved sandwich crimper which is of durable and reliable construction. An even further object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved sandwich crimper which is susceptible of a low cost of manufacture with regard to both materials and labour, and which accordingly is then susceptible of low prices of sale to the consuming public, thereby making such a product available to the buying public. Still yet another object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved sandwich crimper which provides in the apparatuses and methods of the prior art some of the advantages thereof, while simultaneously overcoming some of the disadvantages normally associated therewith. These together with other objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure. For a better understanding of the invention, its operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings and detailed descriptive matter in which there is illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention. Detailed description of figures A typical embodiment of the sandwich crimping device is shown in Figure 1. It comprises the sandwich crimper device 1, having the crimper lid 2 with a flat upper surface 5, the lid surface 5 having a centrally located grater opening 7 into which a flat food grater 3, having grating holes and shredding blades to its surfaces in the known way, is removably seated into place on a slight horizontally opposed fitting rim 4 around the entire opening 7. The top set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth 6 are disposed along the peripheral outer edge of the underside of the crimper device lid 1, with the slightly wider lid, when placed onto the base, creating a slight overhang 10 of the lid with a thin closing rim 14 around the entire lid perimeter 8. The crimper base 15 has a chamfered base edge 19 around the base which, as aforementioned, enables it to be used as a template and cutter to make correctly sized bread each time, from a variety of different bread types which are too large initially for the crimper. This is used in a similar way to a ‘cookie cutter by inverting the base 15 and pressing it down by hand with the chamfered edge 19 onto the bread, to get the perfect bread template and in turn makes an exacting seal, also with exacting edges as two correctly shaped breads are getting sealed together with no waste. Alternatively for a more rapid solution the customer can avoid the aforementioned process by putting one bread on the base within the crimper, not cut to size and one on top not cut to size and then press the lid down into top to compress into the base. The Teeth on the lid and the base are sharp enough to cut out the bread, remove the waste around the edges and create a seal, the base also has a flat lower surface 11 as shown in Figure 1, having at least two release holes 22 adjacent to each other in said flat lower surface 11 and a horizontally disposed multi-purpose insert 9 which acts, among other aforementioned functions, as a planar sandwich release panel which seats into the interior side of the flat lower surface 11 of the base 15, covering the two aforementioned release holes 22 thereto. A further bottom set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth 18 are disposed along the outer edge of the crimper base 15 within a retaining wall body 17. The retaining wall body 17 vertically disposed around the outer edge of the bottom set of crimping teeth 18 forms the base body when combined with the said flat lower surface 11 and aligns the bread inserted into the base 18, while restraining the sandwich during the crimping process. The crimper lid 2 and crimper base 15 are aligned together using alignment markers 16 located on every corner of the lid and base, as shown. The lid and base of the sandwich crimper device are held together using hinge clamps 12 and 13 on at least two of the opposing exterior sides of the crimper base retaining wall body 17. The hinge clamps 12 and 13 allow the sandwich crimper device to be sealed and secured once they are both attached to the device and then closed to become attached to the lid by clamping onto said rim 14, freshly sealing any contents if in transport. They are detachable to allow for cleaning and storing away when not in use and also can be re-attached along with all the other removable parts of the device so they can be stored in one place. The only part of the sandwich crimping device 1 that cannot be attached all the time is either the lid or grater, depending on which is in use. The clamping of the lid and the base together using the hinge clamps may also act to ensure that the maximum pressure has been applied, when crimping and where the flat or bread is able to be compressed as to enable the hinge clamps to be fully closed and to ensure the lid and the base remain together during storage and transport. The hinge clamps 12A and 13A of the device 1A are attached onto the devices retaining wall by way of hinge clamp clasps 21, which flex slightly to allow the hinge clamps to be attached. Each hinge clamp has a clamp elongate hook 20 which is facilitated to hook onto said closing rim 14A which slightly protrudes around the whole outer edge 8A of the crimper lid 2A. The slightly protruding closing rim 14A of the lid 2A forms said slight overhang 10A which, when the lid and base are closed together, engages with the bevelled rim 19A around the entire upper edge of the retaining wall of the crimper base 15A, creating a tight closure of both the base and lid, as shown in Figure 2. Figure 3 shows the device 1B with the lid 2B and base 3B closed together and secured by way of the hinge clamps 12B and 13B having their clamp elongate hooks 20B hooked onto the closing rim 14B In a side view of the sandwich crimper device 1C, the position of the features in relation to each other can be shown from this aspect having the crimper lid 2C with the centrally located flat food grater 3C, with the aforementioned slightly wider lid, when placed onto the base 15C, creating a slight overhang 10C of the lid with a thin closing rim 14C around the entire lid perimeter 8C. The crimper base 15C has the chamfered base edge 19C on the upper edge extremity of the retaining wall body 17C of the base 15C forming the base body when combined with the said flat lower surface 11C. The crimper lid 2C and crimper base 15C use the alignment markers 16C located on every corner of the lid and base, as shown. The hinge clamp 12C is held in place on the two hinge clamp clasps 21C with the hinge clamp 12C clamping onto said rim 14C, as aforementioned freshly sealing any contents if in transport or to aid clamping of the lid and base over a sandwich, as shown in Figure 4. A further side view of the device 1D rotated is shown in Figure 5. Figure 6 shows a side view of the lid 2E with circular wave function crimping teeth 6E having the rounded teeth disposed along as an undulation with rounded corners 26 and multiple rounded convex teeth 24 and the rounded concave teeth 25 forming the means for the crimping action of the lid. Figure 7 shows an underside view of the lid 2F having the food grater (underside) 3F and the circular wave function crimping teeth 6F, the closing rim 14F and the slight overhang 10F of the lid. An interior plan view of the base 15G is shown in Figure 8 with the chamfered base edge 19G around the perimeter of the circular wave function crimping teeth 18G. The multi-purpose insert 9G is shown located in the base bottom on the flat lower surface 11G covering the release holes 22G and attachment for the hinge clamps (not shown) being provided by the hinge clamp clasps 21G located thereto on the retaining wall body 17G. Figure 9 shows the base 15H from a side view. As a plan view above the device 11 the lid surface 51 is shown in Figure 10 with the food grater 3I located in the centre. The retaining wall body 171 of the base is shown with the hinge clamps 121 and 131, having the closing rim 141 above it located on the lid. The underside of the device 1J shows the flat lower surface 11J having the surface stand sections 23 and the said retaining wall body 17J around it forming the base body. The multi-purpose insert 9J is disposed inside the base 15J on top of the release holes 22J in the said lower surface 11 J. The slight overhang 10J of the lid is visible from this view with the closing rim 14J on it and the hinge clamps 12J and 13J mounted removably on their hinge clamp clasps 21 J, as shown in Figure 11. Figure 12 shows the sandwich crimper device 1K on its side showing the release holes 22K on the lower surface 11K on the underside of the base, with the multipurpose insert 9K showing through the release holes, for finger contact when being pushed to release the sandwich inside. Figure 13 shows an upper side dimensional view of the sandwich crimper device.
Claims
1) A sandwich crimper comprising; a device generally having a crimper lid and a crimper base with alignment markers located on every exterior corner of the lid and base, the crimper lid having a flat upper surface with the surface having a centrally located grater opening into which a food grater is removably seated horizontally into place on a slight horizontal rim disposed around the entire grater opening, a top set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth, having more rounded tooth tips and rounded tooth undulated spaces between each tooth, are disposed along the peripheral outer edge of the underside of the crimper lid, with the slightly wider lid creating a slight overhang of the lid with a thin closing rim around the entire lid perimeter, said crimper base having a flat lower surface which has at least two release holes adjacent to each other in said flat lower surface and a multi-purpose insert which acts, among other functions, as a planar sandwich release panel which seats into the interior side of the flat lower surface of the base, covering the aforementioned release holes thereto and further to this a bottom set of peripheral circular wave function crimping teeth are disposed along the entire outer edge of the crimper base, protruding within a retaining wall body which has a chamfered base edge around its top edge which enables it to be used as a template and cutter for breads, the crimper base further having hinge clamps on at least two of the opposing exterior sides of the crimper base retaining wall.2) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein, in use, the grater can be removed to be used to grate foods for sandwich fillings or toppings, for example; cheese, when creating a sandwich or to add a topping after the sandwich is removed from the crimper.3) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 2 wherein, in use, said grater is cleaned and can be returned to its position in the grater opening on the crimper lid surface, as a convenient location for when its use is required again.4) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein the rounded circular wave function crimping teeth are less sharp than crimping teeth found in the prior art and, in use, are therefore able to work on multiple bread types due to being less sharp and having said undulated spaces between each tooth, which aid in piercing thinner breads while still providing a good seal.5) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 4 wherein, in use, sandwich crimpers found in the prior art have crimping teeth which are sharper and can be unsafe for younger users, such as children, who could damage their fingers in them.6) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein, in use, the chamfered base edge around the top of the base retaining wall body enables it to be used as a template and cutter to cut and make correctly sized bread, from a variety of different bread types which initially may be too large for the crimper.7) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein, in use, the chamfered base edge on the base is used by inverting the base and pressing it down by hand with the chamfered edge onto the bread, to cut bread with no waste and in turn making the two correctly shaped breads seal together with an exacting seal and exacting edges.8) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein, in use, the crimper lid and crimper base are aligned together using said alignment markers located on every exterior corner of the lid and base, the markers on the lid and base offer the user a way of aligning the two halves of the device together using the markers as a visual guide, which aids use due to bread and especially bread thins which are the approximate size of the device sometimes overhanging and therefore the lining up of the top and the base can be become difficult, wherein using the alignment markers as a guidance assists in this.9) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein a slightly protruding closing rim of the lid forms said slight overhang lip around the whole outer edge of the crimper lid, which in use, when the lid and base are closed together, engages with a chamfered base edge around the entire retaining wall of the crimper base creating a tight closure of both the lid and base.10) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 9 wherein the overhang lip further provides leverage for the fingers when removing the lid from the base after use.11) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein the lid and base of the sandwich crimper may be held together using said hinge clamps.12) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 11 wherein the hinge clamps have a clamp elongate hook which hooks onto said protruding closing rim, facilitating the holding together of the lid and base.13) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 12 wherein the hinge clamps enable the sandwich crimper device to be sealed and secured once they are attached to the base and further attached to the lid, freshly sealing any contents for transport or storage.14) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 13 wherein the hinge clamps are detachable to allow for cleaning and their storing away when not in use15) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 14 wherein, in use, the clamping of the lid and the base together using the hinge clamps also acts to ensure that the maximum pressure has been applied, when crimping a sandwich and where the flat or bread is able to be compressed as to enable the hinge clamps to be fully closed and to ensure the lid and the base remain together during storage and transport.16) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 15 wherein, in use the user then presses down on the lid with their hands, applying force, to press the lid downward pushing the bread down and forcing the two sets of circular wave function teeth to press firmly into the entire bread edges, crimping them and closed around the entire combined sandwich edges.17) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 1 wherein, in use, the said release holes are used to relieve pressure when pressing the lid and base together.18) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 17 wherein, in use, the said release holes further aid removal of the crimped flat or bread sandwich from the sandwich crimper.19) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 18 wherein, in use, the user places one finger in each of the release holes, with their fingertips now contacting with the rear of the said multi-purpose insert sandwich release panel, which is laid in the bottom of the base underneath the now crimped sandwich and is therefore accessible through the two release holes in the bottom of the base.20) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 19 wherein, in use, the fingers forcibly push on the rear surface of the sandwich release panel, through the two release holes and push the panel onto which the sandwich is laid, thus also pushing and releasing the sandwich from the crimper base, during this process the crimper base would be held in the remaining hand to steady it.21) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 20 wherein, in use, using the multipurpose insert to push the sandwich out of the sandwich crimper device, via the release holes, evenly distributes the weight when it is pushed out and enables sandwich removal, without the user having to touch the sandwich rear.22) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 21 wherein the multi-purpose insert also acts as a cover for the sandwich release holes in the base of the sandwich crimper, to enable occasional use as a storage box.23) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 22 wherein, in use, the multi-purpose insert can be removed and used as a small chopping board for sandwich ingredients.24) A sandwich crimper as claimed in claim 23 wherein, in use, the multi-purpose insert can be removed and further used as a spreading utensil and then cleaned and returned to the base interior, for use as previously described.
