Summary This invention relates to a garment such as; but not limited to, a coat, jacket or gilet with inbuilt webbing support which allows for the attachment and detachment of a rein to the back of the garment via an anchor point. Purpose The use of detachable reins exists and are in common use for younger children These are used as a measure by which to ensure a child is safe from falling and to support them with maintaining a safe course and direction. These do exist in limited forms for older children with additional needs who need this same support. These types of reins are currently available only to be worn over another garment. These reins when used for older children with additional needs and the additional pressure put upon them can lead to the reins slipping and coming loose or creating discomfort or pain. The Rein Coat would be accessible for all ambulatory children and young people, regardless of age and size, as well as adults with additional needs without the need to attach and detach the full harness and without the risk of slipping, loosening or causing discomfort as the harness would be an integral part of the garment itself. The garment would be made available in incremental sizes and fitments to accommodate persons of any size and could be either fixed or adjustable to ensure an even more tailored fit. The webbing would be wide so as to maximise the contact area and share across it any pressure which is applied by the wearer. The webbing which would support the anchor point at the back of the coat would be an integral part of the garment. This would allow the rein to attach to a significant body of support within the coat ensuring that the pressure applied to it is spread across a wider area, lowering the risk of breakage or harm to the wearer should they pull firmly against the webbing. Such an item does not currently exist and would serve as a significant support for caregivers in ensuring that the wearer could be kept safe. Statement of Invention The invention, known as The Rein Coat, is a specialised garment (in the form of a coat, jacket or gilet) which provides support to children as well as young people and adults with additional needs. The coat features integrated webbing with an anchor point at the rear to allow for the secure attachment of a rein facilitating assistance and guidance for the wearer. The design enhances safety and as the rein is detachable allows for the progression of independence where this is appropriate for the wearer. The design enables caregivers to provide support whilst promoting the wearers autonomy and comfort. Detailed Description of an Example of your Invention The application of the inner structure to any coat or gilet with the anchor point at the rear to allow for the attachment and detachment of a rein. The garment may have fixed or adjustable webbing to allow for the coat to be fitted as securely as possible to the wearer and minimising the risk of slipping whilst also reducing the risk of them causing themself discomfort should they pull against the same. The application of the webbing structure inside the coat would allow the coat to be made in any size and with any pattern or material. The use of the anchor and detachable rein would mean that when the rein was not attached the coat would be fully-functional as, and largely indistinguishable from, a standard coat or gilet. There would be a flap at the back which fastened down with a zip, hook-and-loop or poppers to cover the anchor point when not in use.

Claims

1. A garment to be worn on the upper-body such as a coat, jacket or gilet or to be worn on the upper and lower-body such as overalls with an internal structure of webbing or support which is (1) secured at the front with a clip or other fastening; and, (2) with an anchor point at the rear for the attachment and detachment of a rein as presented in Figure 1 to Figure 5.

2. A garment, per Point 1, which has the internal structure of webbing across the shoulders and around the abdomen as is presented in Figure 1 to Figure 5 or in such other arrangement as fits in the garment and allows for the safe function of the rein.

3. A garment, per Point 1 and presented in Fig. 3, with a cover over the anchor point so as it can be disguised when not in use with the rein.

4. A garment, per Point 1, with no such cover as is described in Point 2 is added to the coat leaving the anchor point exposed.

5. A cover, per Point 2 and presented in Fig. 4, which is closed with a fastener such as poppers, magnets, a zip or Velcro.

6. A garment, per Point 1 and presented in Fig. 5, wherein the internal webbing is adjustable or fixed and non-adjustable.

7. A garment, per Point 1 and presented in Fig. 2 and Fig. 5, wherein the internal webbing is wholly or in part padded or unpadded.

8. A garment, per Point 1, wherein the internal webbing is manufactured in any colour or material.

9. A garment, according to all preceding claims, which is permanently hooded, permanently unhooded or has a detachable hood.

10. A garment, according to all preceding claims, which is made from material which is waterproof, weatherproof or unresistant to weather.

11. A garment, according to all preceding claims, which is manufactured in any colour or material.
