Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a sanitary ware wall mounting device. The present invention also relates to a sanitary ware assembly including a sanitary ware wall mounting device and a sanitary ware component. The present invention also relates to a basin mounting shelf and a basin assembly. BACKGROUND
[0002] It is known to provide wall mounted sanitary ware, for example wall mounted sinks or basins for bathrooms and kitchens.
[0003] Sanitary ware is generally made from ceramic and can weigh up to 25 kilograms. The mechanism or device by which such sanitary ware is mounted on a wall must be able to securely support such weights. For wall hung basins, the mechanism or device by which the sanitary ware is mounted on a wall must be able to withstand a weight of up to 150 kilograms.
[0004] Sanitary ware may be mounted on solid walls, for example walls made from bricks, stone, blocks or the like. Such walls may have an uneven surface, which can make it difficult to accurately position and securely install wall mounted sanitary ware on solid walls as the locations of cement joints are not visible.
[0005] Sanitary ware may also be mounted on hollow walls, for example walls made from studs, which are typically made from wood, and sheets of plasterboard material. Whilst the surface of such walls is generally more even, there may be a mismatch between the spacing of the studs and the spacing of mounting holes on the sanitary ware, making it difficult to accurately position and securely install wall mounted sanitary ware on hollow walls without removing large sections of the plasterboard sheets and adding additional vertical studs.
[0006] It is an aim of the present invention to address one or more of the disadvantages associated with the prior art. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] According to an aspect of the present invention there is provided a sanitary ware wall mounting device. The sanitary ware wall mounting device may include a first surface and an opposing second surface. The first surface may be configured for attachment to a sanitary ware component, for example a sink, basin or basin shelf. The sanitary ware wall mounting device may include an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly may include an attachment member and a mounting member. The attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The mounting member may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion of the mounting member may be configured for attachment to a wall. The second portion of the mounting member may be adjustably attachable to the attachment member.
[0008] According to an aspect of the invention there is provided a sanitary ware wall mounting device. The sanitary ware wall mounting device includes a first surface configured for attachment to a sanitary ware component; an opposing second surface; and an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly includes an attachment member coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device; and a mounting member, wherein a first portion of the mounting member is configured for attachment to a wall, and a second portion of the mounting member is adjustably attachable to the attachment member.
[0009] Advantageously, the adjustable attachment of the mounting member to the sanitary ware wall mounting device enables accurate placement and secure fastening of a sanitary ware component to a wall, regardless of how even or uneven the surface of the wall is and / or the position or spacing of the studs on or behind the wall. Additionally, if the wall is not truly vertical then a shim may be added adjacent the mounting member to ensure the sanitary ware is mounted horizontally level.
[0010] The opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device may be a lower surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0011] This enables the discrete placement of the attachment assembly and ensures that it can be hidden from a user during use of the sanitary ware component.
[0012] The attachment member may include a slot or groove.
[0013] The slot allows adjustment of the mounting member relative to the attachment member, enabling accurate placement of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, and therefore the sanitary ware component, on the wall.
[0014] The attachment member may have a first end and a second end. A length of the attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end. A longitudinal axis of the attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end of the attachment member.
[0015] The length of the attachment member provides a number of positions at which the mounting member may be fixed.
[0016] The slot or groove may extend along the length of the attachment member. The slot or groove may be, for example, an elongate depression which extends along the length of the attachment member.
[0017] The length of the slot or groove or elongate depression along the length of the attachment member provides a number of positions at which the second portion of the mounting member may be fixed.
[0018] The second portion of the mounting member may have a first end that is proximal to the first portion of the mounting member and an opposing second end that is distal to the first portion of the mounting member. A length of the second portion of the mounting member may be defined between the first end and the second end of the second portion of the mounting member. A longitudinal axis of the mounting member may be defined between the first end and the second end of the second portion of the mounting member.
[0019] The attachment assembly may include a fixing member. The fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the mounting member to the attachment member.
[0020] The fixing member advantageously allows the adjustable positioning and fixing of the mounting member relative to the attachment member.
[0021] The fixing member may be a screw or a bolt or any other suitable fastening that is configured to slidably engage the slot or groove, thereby enabling adjustment of the mounting member relative to the attachment member of the attachment assembly.
[0022] The fixing member may have a first condition, in which a position of the fixing member is adjustable relative to the attachment member. In the first condition, the fixing member may be able to slide within the slot or groove such that position of the mounting member may be adjusted relative to the attachment member
[0023] The fixing member may have a second condition, in which the position of the fixing member is fixed. In the second condition, the fixing member is not able to slide within the slot or groove and thus the position of the mounting member relative to the attachment member may be fixed.
[0024] Advantageously, the fixing member has an adjustable condition, in which the position of the mounting member relative to the attachment member can be adjusted, and a fixed condition, in which the position of the mounting member relative to the attachment member is fixed.
[0025] The sanitary ware wall mounting device may have a first edge and an opposing second edge. The first edge may correspond to a front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second edge may correspond to a back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first edge may correspond to the edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is furthest from the wall and closest to a user during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second edge may correspond to the edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is mounted on the wall.
[0026] Alternatively, the first edge may correspond to a back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second edge may correspond to a front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the opposing second edge may correspond to the edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is furthest from the wall and closest to a user during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the first edge may correspond to the edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is mounted on the wall.
[0027] The sanitary ware wall mounting device may have a first side and an opposing second side. The first side may correspond to a left side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second side may correspond to a right side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first side may correspond to the side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is on a user's left side during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second side may correspond to the side of the sanitary ware component that is on a user's right side during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0028] Alternatively, the first side may correspond to a right side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second side may correspond to a left side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first side may correspond to the side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device which is on a user's right side during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the opposing second side may correspond to the side of the sanitary ware component that is on a user's left side during use of a sanitary ware component mounted on the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0029] The attachment member may be a first attachment member. The attachment assembly may include a second attachment member. The second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second portion of the mounting member may be adjustably attachable to the first attachment member and / or the second attachment member.
[0030] The provision of an additional attachment member, for example a second attachment member, provides more stability and increases the flexibility to accommodate different wall surfaces and / or fixing support positions.
[0031] The second attachment member may be coupled to the lower surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0032] The second attachment member may include a slot or groove to enable adjustment of the mounting member relative to the attachment member, and thus enabling accurate placement of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, and therefore the sanitary ware component, on the wall.
[0033] The second attachment member may have a first end and a second end. A length of the second attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end. A longitudinal axis of the second attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end of the second attachment member.
[0034] The length of the second attachment member a number of positions at which the mounting member may be fixed.
[0035] The slot or groove of the second attachment member may extend along the length of the second attachment member. The slot or groove may be, for example, an elongate depression which extends along the length of the second attachment member.
[0036] The length of the slot or groove or elongate depression along the length of the second attachment member provides a number of positions at which the mounting member may be fixed.
[0037] The fixing member may be a first fixing member. The attachment assembly may include a second fixing member. The second fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the mounting member to the second attachment member.
[0038] The second fixing member advantageously allows the adjustable positioning and fixing of the mounting member relative to the second attachment member.
[0039] Like the first fixing member, the second fixing member may be a screw or a bolt or any other suitable fastening that is configured to slidably engage the slot or groove, thereby enabling adjustment of the mounting member relative to the second attachment member of the attachment assembly.
[0040] The second fixing member may have a first condition, in which a position of the second fixing member is adjustable relative to the second attachment member. In the first condition, the second fixing member may be able to slide within the slot or groove such that position of the mounting member may be adjusted relative to the second attachment member.
[0041] The second fixing member may have a second condition, in which the position of the second fixing member is fixed. In the second condition, the second fixing member is not able to slide within the slot or groove and thus the position of the mounting member relative to the second attachment member may be fixed.
[0042] Advantageously, the second fixing member has an adjustable condition, in which the position of the mounting member relative to the second attachment member can be adjusted, and a fixed condition, in which the position of the mounting member relative to the second attachment member is fixed.
[0043] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0044] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge, for example the front edge or the back edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge, for example the back edge or the front edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0045] When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0046] Alternatively, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0047] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that the longitudinal axis of the first attachment member is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the second attachment member.
[0048] The first attachment member and / or the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that one of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the other of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to a central portion of the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0049] The second portion of the mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member using the first fixing member and / or may be adjustably attached to the second attachment member using the second fixing member.
[0050] The mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member and the second attachment member such that the longitudinal axis of the mounting member is not parallel to the longitudinal angle of either of the first attachment member or the second attachment member.
[0051] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be a first pair of attachment members of the attachment assembly.
[0052] The arrangement of the first and second attachment members advantageously provides additional adjustment capacity, thereby enabling more accurate positioning of the sanitary ware wall mounting device on a wall. In particular, the first and second attachment members can be independently adjusted and thus enable independent side-to-side (or left-to-right) positioning of wall mounted sanitary ware. This is particularly beneficial for ‘off centre’ fitting of basins and other sanitary ware on uneven wall surfaces.
[0053] Alternatively, the first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to an opposing second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0054] The provision of an additional attachment member, for example a second attachment member, provides more stability and increases the flexibility to accommodate different wall surfaces and / or fixing support positions. In particular, the first and second attachment members can be independently adjusted and thus enable independent side-to-side (or left-to-right) positioning of wall mounted sanitary ware. This is particularly beneficial for ‘off centre’ fitting of basins and other sanitary ware on uneven wall surfaces.
[0055] The mounting member may be a first mounting member and the attachment assembly may include a second mounting member. The second mounting member may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion of the second mounting member may be configured for attachment to a wall. The second portion of the second mounting member may be adjustably attachable to the second attachment member.
[0056] The second attachment member may be coupled to the lower surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0057] The second attachment member may include a slot or groove to enable adjustment of the mounting member relative to the attachment member, and thus enabling accurate placement of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, and therefore the sanitary ware component, on the wall.
[0058] The second attachment member may have a first end and a second end. A length of the second attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end. A longitudinal axis of the second attachment member may be defined between the first end and the second end of the second attachment member.
[0059] The length of the second attachment member provides a number of positions at which the second mounting member may be fixed.
[0060] The slot or groove of the second attachment member may extend along the length of the second attachment member. The slot or groove may be, for example, an elongate depression which extends along the length of the second attachment member.
[0061] The length of the slot or groove or elongate depression along the length of the second attachment member provides a number of positions at which the second mounting member may be fixed.
[0062] The fixing member may be a first fixing member. The attachment assembly may include a second fixing member. The second fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the second mounting member to the second attachment member.
[0063] The second fixing member advantageously allows the adjustable positioning and fixing of the second mounting member relative to the second attachment member.
[0064] Like the first fixing member, the second fixing member may be a screw or a bolt or any other suitable fastening that is configured to slidably engage the slot or groove, thereby enabling adjustment of the second mounting member relative to the second attachment member of the attachment assembly.
[0065] The second fixing member may have a first condition, in which a position of the second fixing member is adjustable relative to the second attachment member. In the first condition, the second fixing member may be able to slide within the slot or groove such that position of the second mounting member may be adjusted relative to the second attachment member.
[0066] The second fixing member may have a second condition, in which the position of the second fixing member is fixed. In the second condition, the second fixing member is not able to slide within the slot or groove and thus the position of the second mounting member relative to the second attachment member may be fixed.
[0067] Advantageously, the second fixing member has an adjustable condition, in which the position of the second mounting member relative to the second attachment member can be adjusted, and a fixed condition, in which the position of the second mounting member relative to the second attachment member is fixed.
[0068] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0069] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first side, for example the right side or the left side, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second side, for example the left side or the right side, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0070] When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the right side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the left side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0071] Alternatively, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the left side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the right side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0072] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that the longitudinal axis of the first attachment member is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the second attachment member.
[0073] The first attachment member and / or the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that one of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the other of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to a central portion of the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0074] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that one of the first end and the second end of the first attachment member is positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, one of the first end and the second end of the second attachment member is positioned adjacent to the second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, and the other of the first end and the second end of the first attachment member is adjacent to the other of the first end and the second end of the second attachment member. The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be aligned on a common axis, i.e. the longitudinal axis of the first attachment member may be coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the second attachment member.
[0075] The second portion of the first mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member using the first fixing member. The second portion of the second mounting member may be adjustably attached to the second attachment member using the second fixing member.
[0076] The first mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member such that the longitudinal axis of the first mounting member is not parallel to the longitudinal angle of the first attachment member. The second mounting member may be adjustably attached to the second attachment member such that the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member is not parallel to the longitudinal angle of the second attachment member.
[0077] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be a first pair of attachment members of the attachment assembly.
[0078] The arrangement of the first and second attachment members advantageously provides additional adjustment capacity, thereby enabling more accurate positioning of the sanitary ware wall mounting device on a wall. In particular, the first and second attachment members can be independently adjusted and thus enable independent side-to-side (or left-to-right) positioning of wall mounted sanitary ware. This is particularly beneficial for ‘off centre’ fitting of basins and other sanitary ware on uneven wall surfaces.
[0079] The attachment assembly may include a first attachment member, a second attachment member, a third attachment member, a fourth attachment member, a first fixing member, a second fixing member, a third fixing member, a fourth fixing member, a first mounting member and a second mounting member.
[0080] Each of the first mounting member and the second mounting member may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion of each of the first mounting member and the second mounting member may be configured for attachment to a wall. The second portion of each of the first mounting member and the second mounting member may be adjustably attachable to at least one of the attachment members.
[0081] Each of the first, second, third and fourth attachment members may be coupled to the opposing second surface, for example a lower surface, of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0082] The provision of additional attachment members, for example second, third and / or fourth attachment members, provides more stability and increases the flexibility to accommodate different wall surfaces and / or fixing support positions. In particular, the first, second, third and / or fourth attachment members can be independently adjusted and thus enable independent side-to-side (or left-to-right) positioning of wall mounted sanitary ware. This is particularly beneficial for ‘off centre’ fitting of basins and other sanitary ware on uneven wall surfaces.
[0083] Each of the attachment members may include a slot or groove to enable adjustment of the respective mounting member relative to the attachment member, and thus enabling accurate placement of the sanitary ware wall mounting device, and therefore the sanitary ware component, on the wall.
[0084] Each of the attachment members may have a first end and a second end. A length of the each of the attachment members may be defined between the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member. A longitudinal axis of each of the attachment members may be defined between the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member.
[0085] The length of the attachment members provides a number of positions at which the respective mounting member may be fixed.
[0086] The slot or groove of each of the attachment members may extend along the length of the attachment member. The slot or groove may be, for example, an elongate depression which extends along the length of the attachment member.
[0087] The length of the slot or groove or elongate depression along the length of the attachment member provides a number of positions at which the respective mounting member may be fixed.
[0088] The first fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the first mounting member to the first attachment member. The second fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the first mounting member to the second attachment member. The third fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the second mounting member to the third attachment member. The fourth fixing member may be configured to adjustably attach the second portion of the second mounting member to the fourth attachment member.
[0089] The fixing members advantageously allow the adjustable positioning and fixing of the mounting members relative to the respective attachment members.
[0090] Each of the first, second, third and / or fourth fixing member may be a screw or a bolt or any other suitable fastening that is configured to slidably engage the slot or groove, thereby enabling adjustment of the respective mounting member relative to the respective attachment member of the attachment assembly.
[0091] Each of the fixing members may have a first condition, in which a position of the fixing member is adjustable relative to the respective attachment member. In the first condition, the fixing member may be able to slide within the slot or groove such that position of the mounting member may be adjusted relative to the respective attachment member.
[0092] Each of the fixing members may have a second condition, in which the position of the fixing member is fixed. In the second condition, the fixing member is not able to slide within the slot or groove and thus the position of the mounting member relative to the respective attachment member may be fixed.
[0093] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0094] The first attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge, for example the front edge or the back edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The second attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge, for example the back edge or the front edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0095] When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0096] Alternatively, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, the first attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the second attachment member may be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0097] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that the longitudinal axis of the first attachment member is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the second attachment member.
[0098] The first attachment member and / or the second attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that one of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the other of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to a central portion of the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0099] The second portion of the first mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member using the first fixing member and / or may be adjustably attached to the second attachment member using the second fixing member.
[0100] The first mounting member may be adjustably attached to the first attachment member and the second attachment member such that the longitudinal axis of the mounting member is not parallel to the longitudinal angle of either of the first attachment member or the second attachment member.
[0101] The first attachment member and the second attachment member may be a first pair of attachment members of the attachment assembly on the first side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0102] The third attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The fourth attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0103] The third attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the first edge, for example the front edge or the back edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device. The fourth attachment member may be positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge, for example the back edge or the front edge, and coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0104] When the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, for example, the third attachment member may thus be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the fourth attachment member may be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0105] Alternatively, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device is mounted on a wall, the third attachment member may be positioned adjacent the back edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the fourth attachment member may be positioned adjacent the front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0106] The third attachment member and the fourth attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that the longitudinal axis of the third attachment member is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fourth attachment member.
[0107] The third attachment member and / or the fourth attachment member may be coupled to the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that one of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to the opposing second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device and the other of the first end and the second end of the respective attachment member is positioned adjacent to a central portion of the opposing second surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0108] The other of the first end and the second end of each of the third attachment member and the fourth attachment member may be adjacent to the other of the first end and the second end of the first attachment member and the second attachment member.
[0109] The second portion of the second mounting member may be adjustably attached to the third attachment member using the third fixing member and / or may be adjustably attached to the fourth attachment member using the fourth fixing member.
[0110] The second mounting member may be adjustably attached to the third attachment member and the fourth attachment member such that the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member is not parallel to the longitudinal angle of either of the third attachment member or the fourth attachment member.
[0111] The third attachment member and the fourth attachment member may thus be a second pair of attachment members of the attachment assembly on the opposing second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0112] The arrangement of the first, second, third and fourth attachment members advantageously provides additional adjustment capacity, thereby enabling more accurate positioning of the sanitary ware wall mounting device on a wall.
[0113] The sanitary ware wall mounting device may include an accessory, for example an accessory that is configured for attachment to the attachment assembly. The accessory may be, for example, configured for attachment to one or more attachment members of the attachment assembly.
[0114] The provision of an accessory provides additional functionality to the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0115] The sanitary ware wall mounting device may include more than one accessories. The sanitary ware wall mounting device may include, for example, an accessory on each of the first side and the opposing second side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0116] The or each accessory may be, for example, a hook or rail for storage of towels.
[0117] According to an aspect of the invention there is provided a sanitary ware assembly including the sanitary ware wall mounting device of any of the preceding aspects of the invention and a sanitary ware component. The sanitary ware component may be, for example, a sink, basin or basin shelf.
[0118] The first surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device may be an upper surface. The sanitary ware component, for example the sink or the basin, may be seated on the upper surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0119] Alternatively, the sanitary ware component, for example the sink, basin or basin shelf, may extend into the sanitary ware wall mounting device such that an upper surface of the sanitary ware component is aligned with the upper surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device.
[0120] According to an aspect of the invention there is provided a basin mounting shelf including: an upper surface comprising an aperture that is configured for operable connection to a basin; an opposing lower surface; a first side edge; an opposing second side edge; and an attachment assembly.

[0156] The first surface 102 is an upper surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100. The opposing second surface 104 is a lower surface of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0157] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 has a first edge 108 and an opposing second edge 110. In the illustrated embodiment, the first edge 108 corresponds to a front edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, which front edge is furthest from the wall 200, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 is mounted on the wall 200. The opposing second edge 110 corresponds to a rear, or back, edge of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, which back edge is closest to the wall 200, when the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 is mounted on the wall 200.
[0158] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 also has a first side 112 and an opposing second side 114. In the illustrated embodiment, the first side 112 corresponds to a left side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 (as a user looks at the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 when it is mounted on a wall 200) and the opposing second side 114 corresponds to a right side of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 (as a user looks at the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 when it is mounted on a wall 200).
[0159] The attachment assembly 106 includes a first attachment member 116, a second attachment member 118, a third attachment member 120, a fourth attachment member 122, a first mounting member 124 and a second mounting member 126. The attachment assembly 106 also includes a plurality of fixing members 128.
[0160] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 includes a drain aperture 130 and a water supply aperture 132 , each of which extends through the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0161] The drain aperture 130 is provided to provide a fluid connection between a sanitary ware component 302 and a drainage system in order to allow a liquid to drain from the sanitary ware component 302. As shown in FIG. 1A, the drain aperture 130 is positioned in a centre portion of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and extends through the first surface 102 to the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100. It will be appreciated that the position of the drain aperture 130 may be altered depending on the requirements of the sanitary ware component 302.
[0162] The water supply aperture 132 allows connection of one or more taps or faucets in order to ensure that water can be provided to the sanitary ware component 302.
[0163] As shown in FIG. IB, each of the first mounting member 124 and the second mounting member 126 has a first portion 150 and a second portion 152.
[0164] The first portion 150 of each of the mounting members 124, 126 includes three holes, through which fasteners, for example bolts, may be passed in order to secure the mounting members 124, 126 to a wall 200 of a building.
[0165] The second portion 152 of each of the mounting members 124, 126 is an elongate portion having a generally U-shaped structure, a first end 154 that is proximal to the first portion 150 of the mounting member 124, 126 and a second end 156 that is distal to the first portion 150 of the mounting member 124, 126.
[0166] The second portion 152 of the mounting member 124, 126 has a length and a longitudinal axis that are each defined between the first end 154 and the second end 156 of the respective mounting member 124, 126.
[0167] The second portion 152 includes a plurality of slotted holes, each of which is configured to receive a fixing member 128.
[0168] The attachment members 116, 118, 120, 122 will now be described with particular reference to FIG. IC and FIG. ID.
[0169] The attachment assembly 106 includes four attachment members. Each of the first attachment member 116, the second attachment member 118, the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122 has the same structure. The attachment members 116, 118, 120, 122 will be described with particular reference to the first attachment member 116, a schematic representation of which is shown in FIG. IC.
[0170] The first attachment member 116 is an elongate member and has a first end 134, a second end 136, a first face 138 and a second face (not shown).
[0171] A length 140 of the first attachment member 116 is defined between the first end 134 and the second end 136 of the first attachment member 116.
[0172] A longitudinal axis 142 of the first attachment member 116 is also defined between the first end 134 and the second end 136.
[0173] Referring now to FIG. ID, it can be seen that the first attachment member 116 includes a slot 144 in the form of a groove or elongate depression which extends between the first end 134 and the second end 136 of the first attachment member 116.
[0174] The slot 144 is T-shaped in cross section and may therefore be referred to as a ‘T-slot’. The slot 144 has a retaining portion 146 and a neck portion 148, each of which extends along the length of the slot 144.
[0175] Each of the fixing members 128 may be any of a screw or a bolt or any other suitable fastening that is configured to slidably engage the slot 144 of the attachment member, thereby enabling adjustment of the mounting member relative to the attachment member of the attachment assembly, as will be described in more detail.
[0176] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 is assembled for installation as follows.
[0177] With particular reference to FIG. IB, the second face (not shown) of the first attachment member 116 is positioned on the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 such that the first attachment member 116 is positioned adjacent to the first edge 108 (i.e. the front edge) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, with the first end 134 of the first attachment member 116 adjacent to the first side 112 (the right side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and the second end 136 of the first attachment member 116 adjacent to a central portion of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0178] When in position, the first attachment member 116 may be fastened to the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 by any suitable means, which may be, for example, adhesive, for example an adhesive that is applied as a liquid or an adhesive tape, or a fastening member such as a nail, a screw, a bolt or the like.
[0179] The second face (not shown) of the second attachment member 118 is positioned on the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 such that the second attachment member 118 is positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge 110 (i.e. the back edge) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, with the first end 134 of the second attachment member 118 adjacent to the first side 112 (the right side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and the second end 136 of the second attachment member 118 adjacent to a central portion of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0180] When in position, the second attachment member 118 may be fastened to the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 by any suitable means, which may be, for example, adhesive, for example an adhesive that is applied as a liquid or an adhesive tape, or a fastening member such as a nail, a screw, a bolt or the like.
[0181] In this way, the first attachment member 116 and the second attachment member 118 form a first pair of attachment members on the first side 112 (the right side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0182] The longitudinal axis 142 of the first attachment member 116 is parallel, or at least substantially parallel, to the longitudinal axis 142 of the second attachment member 118.
[0183] Similarly, the second face (not shown) of the third attachment member 120 is positioned on the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 such that the third attachment member 120 is positioned adjacent to the first edge 108 (i.e. the front edge) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, with the first end 134 of the third attachment member 120 adjacent to the opposing second side 114 (the left side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and the second end 136 of the third attachment member 120 adjacent to a central portion of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100. The third attachment member 120 is positioned such that the second end 136 of the third attachment member 120 is adjacent to the second end 136 of the first attachment member 116.
[0184] When in position, the third attachment member 120 may be fastened to the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 by any suitable means, which may be, for example, adhesive, for example an adhesive that is applied as a liquid or an adhesive tape, or a fastening member such as a nail, a screw, a bolt or the like.
[0185] The second face (not shown) of the fourth attachment member 122 is positioned on the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 such that the fourth attachment member 122 is positioned adjacent to the opposing second edge 110 (i.e. the back edge) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, with the first end 134 of the fourth attachment member 122 adjacent to the opposing second side 114 (the left side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and the second end 136 of the fourth attachment member 122 adjacent to a central portion of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100. The fourth attachment member 122 is positioned such that the second end 136 of the fourth attachment member 122 is adjacent to the second end 136 of the second attachment member 118.
[0186] When in position, the fourth attachment member 122 may be fastened to the opposing second surface 104 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 by any suitable means, which may be, for example, adhesive, for example an adhesive that is applied as a liquid or an adhesive tape, or a fastening member such as a nail, a screw, a bolt or the like.
[0187] In this way, the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122 form a second pair of attachment members on the opposing second side 114 (the left side) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0188] The longitudinal axis 142 of the third attachment member 120 is parallel, or at least substantially parallel, to the longitudinal axis 142 of the fourth attachment member 122.
[0189] The longitudinal axis 142 of the first attachment member 116 is aligned with the longitudinal axis 142 of the third attachment member 120. Likewise, the longitudinal axis 142 of the second attachment member 118 is aligned with the longitudinal axis 142 of the fourth attachment member 122.
[0190] Referring now to FIG. 2, the first portions 150 of each of the first mounting member 124 and the second mounting member 126 are fastened to the wall 200 using bolts, or other suitable fastening means, which extend through the holes of the first portions 150 of each of the first mounting member 124 and the second mounting member 126, and into the wall 200.
[0191] Adjustment of the first mounting member 124 and the second mounting member 126 ensures that the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 can be accurately and securely fastened to the wall 200 regardless of how even the surface of the wall is and / or the position of structural supports in the wall 200.
[0192] The fixing members 128 for each of the first mounting member 124, the second mounting member 126 and any accessories are placed in the slots 144 of the attachment members 116, 118, 120, 122.
[0193] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 is oriented with the opposing second surface 104 facing downward and lowered onto the first mounting member 124 and the second mounting member 126.
[0194] The first mounting member 124 is then adjustably attached to the first pair of attachment members, i.e. the first attachment member 116 and the second attachment member 118.
[0195] A first fixing member 128, which is positioned in the slot 144 of the first attachment member 116 is passed through a slotted hole in the second portion 152 of the first mounting member 124 and loosely tightened. Likewise, a second fixing member 128, which is positioned in the slot 144 of the second attachment member 118 is passed through another slotted hole in the second portion 152 of the first mounting member 124 and loosely tightened. The first and second fixing members 128 are thus in a first condition in which the fixing members can slide along the slot 144 in which they have been placed and the position of the first mounting member relative to the first and second attachment members 116, 118 can be adjusted.
[0196] The second mounting member 126 is then adjustably attached to the second pair of attachment members, i.e. the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122.
[0197] A third fixing member 128, which is positioned in the slot 144 of the third attachment member 120, is passed through a slotted hole in the second portion 152 of the second mounting member 126 and loosely tightened. Likewise, a fourth fixing member 128, which is positioned in the slot 144 of the fourth attachment member 122, is passed through another slotted hole in the second portion 152 of the second mounting member 126 and loosely tightened. The third and fourth fixing members 128 are thus in a first condition in which the fixing members can slide along the slot 144 in which they have been placed and the position of the second mounting member 126 relative to the third and fourth attachment members 120, 122 can be adjusted.
[0198] The first and second fixing members 128 are slidably adjusted in the respective slots 144 of the first and second attachment members 116, 118 until the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 is correctly positioned on the wall 200. The fixing members 128 may then be tightened or otherwise adjusted such that they are in the second condition. In the second condition, the position of the fixing members 128 in the slot 144 is fixed. Likewise, the position of the first mounting member 124 relative to the first and second attachment members 116, 118 is also fixed in the second condition.
[0199] The longitudinal axis of the first mounting member 124 is oriented such that it is not parallel with the longitudinal axis 142 of either of the first attachment member 116 or the second attachment member 118. As shown in FIG. IB, the longitudinal axis of the first mounting member 124 may be perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 142 of each of the first attachment member 116 and the second attachment member 118.
[0200] It will be appreciated that, when the first mounting member 124 is correctly installed on a wall 200, the longitudinal axis of the first mounting member 124 may be at any non-zero angle relative to the longitudinal axis 142 of the first attachment member 116 and the second attachment member 118. The angle formed between the longitudinal axis of the first mounting member 124 and the longitudinal axis 142 of the first attachment member 116 may be the same as, or different to, the angle formed between the longitudinal axis of the first mounting member 124 and the longitudinal axis 142 of the second attachment member 118.
[0201] The third and fourth fixing members 128 are slidably adjusted in the respective slots 144 of the third and fourth attachment members 120, 122 until the sanitary ware wall mounting device is correctly positioned on the wall 200. The fixing members 128 may then be tightened or otherwise adjusted such that they are in the second condition. In the second condition, the position of the fixing members 128 in the slot 144 is fixed. Likewise, the position of the second mounting member 126 relative to the third and fourth attachment members 120, 122 is also fixed in the second condition.
[0202] The longitudinal axis of the second mounting member 126 is oriented such that it is not parallel with the longitudinal axis 142 of either of the third attachment member 120 or the fourth attachment member 122. As shown in FIG. IB, the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member 126 may be perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 142 of each of the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122.
[0203] It will be appreciated that, when the second mounting member 126 is correctly adjusted for installation on a wall 200, the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member 126 may be at any non-zero angle relative to the longitudinal axis 142 of the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122. The angle formed between the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member 126 and the longitudinal axis 142 of the third attachment member 120 may be the same as, or different to, the angle formed between the longitudinal axis of the second mounting member 126 and the longitudinal axis 142 of the fourth attachment member 122.
[0204] As shown in FIG. IB, the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 includes two accessories in the form of towel rails 158. One of the towel rails 158 is attached to the first attachment member 116 and the second attachment member 118 on the first side 112 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100. The other of the towel rails 158 is attached to the third attachment member 120 and the fourth attachment member 122 on the opposing second side 114 of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100.
[0205] To attach a towel rail 158 to the first and second attachment members 116, 118, the towel rail 158 is positioned adjacent to the attachment members 116, 118, and the fixing members 128 in the slots 144 are aligned with slotted holes in the towel rail 158. The fixing members 128 may be loosely tightened into a first condition, in which the position of the towel rail 158 relative to the first and second attachment members 116, 118 can be adjusted. Once the towel rail 158 is correctly positioned, the fixing member 128 are fully tightened into a second condition, in which the position of the towel rail 158 relative to the first and second attachment members is fixed.
[0206] A second towel rail 158 may be attached to the third and fourth attachment members 120, 122 in the same way.
[0207] The sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 may form part of a sanitary ware assembly 300, as shown in FIG. 3.
[0208] In addition to the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100, the sanitary ware assembly 300 includes a sanitary ware component 302, in the form of a sink or basin.
[0209] The sanitary ware component 302 is mounted on the first surface 102 (i.e. the upper surface) of the sanitary ware wall mounting device 100 and is thus a counter top basin.
