Structural support

Abstract

A structural support 1 having a load bearing means 2, a means for delivering internal moisture towards a load bearing means mountable on the outer leaf of a cavity wall 3 of a building and one or more stop ends 4. The one or more stop ends 4 being mechanically fixed to the load bearing means 2. The structural support 1 being locatable above an opening in a building construction such as a door or window opening and being configurable to distribute the weight of the wall above an opening to parts of the wall at each side of the opening. The structural support 1 further having a base 10 for supporting masonry thereon. The structural support 1 is sized to ensure that the structural support 1 is still supported on each side of an opening, by at least the minimum bearing length required and / or recommended bearing length, after the structural support 1 has been moved left or right to ensure that the one or more stop ends 4 are in alignment with a perp joint.
