Fixture for measuring the thickness of furnace lid refractory

Abstract

This item is used to measure the remaining thickness of the refractory material (castable) that makes up the furnace lid of a smelting furnace. As shown in the "Reference Diagram Showing Usage," the upper surface of the lower arm is abutted against the lower surface of the refractory material, and the distance between the lower surface of the upper arm and the upper surface of the flange provided around the inspection opening is measured using a laser measuring instrument suspended from the upper arm or a tape measure. The thickness of the refractory material can be determined by subtracting the distance between the upper surface of the flange and the lower surface of the outer frame (steel shell) of the furnace lid (a known value), and the above measured distance, from the distance between the lower surface of the upper arm and the upper surface of the lower arm (a known value).
