Abstract
The present article is a stud that is attached to a metallic member to be welded, such as a steel plate, by resistance welding. More specifically, the stud is held by the inner electrode of a coaxial electrode having an inner electrode and an outer electrode arranged coaxially, and is fused and bonded to the member to be welded by Joule heat generated at a welding point of the member to be welded by supplying an electric current between the stud and the member to be welded while being pressed in a state of abutting against the tip of the inner electrode. The stud of the present article has a cylindrical body, and a flange extending perpendicularly to the central axis of the body is formed at an end of one end side of the body that is welded to the member to be welded. The length of the flange in the extending direction relative to the body is the minimum length that can engage the tip of the inner electrode. In addition, three protruding arc-shaped projections are formed at regular intervals along the circumferential direction on the bottom side of the end of the one end side of the body where the flange is formed.
