Abstract
Figure 1.1 shows a modular cushion that uses two modular cushion units, and the dimensions of the cushion change depending on the number of modular cushion units. They can be added or removed, and are fitted with a removable cover. The cover can be torn horizontally along its midline, which has a hidden zipper. Figure 1.2 corresponds to Figure 1.4 and shows two modular cushion units with the covers removed. A rod, rubber thimble, and magnet are inserted into the cushion pad. Figure 1.3 shows a cross-section of the base cube, cut diagonally from the top. The thimble and magnet are located in the diagonal cavity at the apex. When cushions are placed adjacent to each other, the magnet inside the thimble moves to the outer edge of the thimble due to magnetic force, as shown at the bottom of Figure 1.3, and then firmly attaches to the magnet in the adjacent cushion, forming an invisible bond. Figure 1.3 also shows through-holes that soften the cushion and allow ventilation, adjusting its firmness, as well as a rod inserted into the sixth through-hole from the top, which adjusts the cushion's softness depending on its insertion position. The rod is shown inserted horizontally. Figure 1.4 is an exploded view showing all of the components that make up two modular cushion units: the two cubes of the base unit of the modular pad, the removable cover that can be removed and separated into two equal halves (the zipper is visible on the bottom half), the structural rods that create a semi-rigid internal structure, and the rubber thimbles that hold the magnets in place and cushion the contact between the cushions. Various numbers and arrangements of cushions, rods, rubber thimbles, and magnets can be covered with covers to create different sized cushions with dimensions that are standardized multiples of a single cushion unit. Figure 1.5 depicts a front view of Figure 1.4, and the missing back view is a mirror image of this front view. The rods, which are two cubes long, the V-shaped rubber thimbles placed between the two cubes, and the cover function to securely connect the two cubes in addition to the functions described in Figures 1.3 and 1.4.
