Cell culture container

Abstract

This article is a cell culture vessel for culturing cells. The article consists of a translucent container body made of silicone rubber, an upper holder and a lower holder attached to the container body, and a cap detachably attached to the upper holder. The container body is petri dish-shaped with a flange at its upper end. The upper holder is disc-shaped with an opening in the center having a screw hole for attaching a detachable cap, and a latch receiving portion on its outer circumference for securing the latch of the lower holder (described later). The lower holder consists of a hollow upper ring and a lower ring with a circular plate having a mesh-like pattern of holes in the center that covers the bottom surface of the container body, connected vertically by six pillars. The outer circumference of the upper ring is provided with a latch that secures to the latch receiving portion of the upper holder. The container body is placed in the lower holder, and the upper holder, which has a cap attached, is placed over it from above. By fastening the latch to the latch receiver, the container body is sealed by the upper holder, lower holder, and cap. In this sealed state, the cap can be removed, allowing the culture medium or other liquids to be injected into the container body through the opening in the upper holder. Also, in this sealed state, the upper holder can be removed from the container body and lower holder by releasing the latch from the latch receiver.
