Abstract

To provide a thickener for hydraulic compositions which improves the frost damage resistance of hydraulic compositions and also enhances the fluidity and bleeding reduction capability of the hydraulic compositions, and a thickener-containing additive for hydraulic compositions.SOLUTION: A thickener for hydraulic compositions comprises (A) a hydroxyalkyl alkyl cellulose and (B) a polyethylene glycol derivative having an IOB value in the organic conception diagram of 0.3 to 1.8 and a weight average molecular weight Mw of 300 to 2,500 in terms of polystyrene as measured by GPC analysis, and containing at least one RCOO(C2H4O)n- (where R is a C10-C24 straight or branched monovalent hydrocarbon group and n is an integer of 3 to 40) in the molecule and a polyethylene glycol end OH or -OH group as a functional group.SELECTED DRAWING: None
