Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a water-stopping method for a pipe wall and a water-stopping rivet. [Background technology]
[0002] Many pipes are installed in water treatment facilities such as sewage treatment plants and pumping stations. Pinholes may form in the pipes due to deterioration or corrosion, in which case water leakage prevention measures are required. To stop water from the pipes, the use of the pipes is usually suspended when the facility is shut down, and the liquid inside is drained and removed to dry the pipes, and the pipes are repaired with epoxy resin or the pipes themselves are replaced, which requires a long construction period including preparation. Therefore, one possible method to stop the leak without shutting down the facility or drying it out is to use blind rivets to secure the two plates together. For example, Patent Document 1 proposes that a blind rivet be used in which the outside of a sleeve is covered with a bottomed cylinder made of a material such as nylon that has waterproof, elastic and electrically insulating properties, and discloses that this can be used particularly for repairing yachts. Furthermore, Patent Document 2 discloses that the fastening surface of the flange of a hollow rivet and the entire hollow shaft are covered with a synthetic resin coating, thereby ensuring sealing properties and preventing the occurrence of rust due to the potential difference that occurs at the contact surfaces between metals. [0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 5-12727 [Patent Document 2] Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 61-64508 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] Sealing properties are ensured by combining the blind rivet with a bottomed cylindrical body made of a material such as nylon (Patent Document 1) or a synthetic resin coating (Patent Document 2). However, blind rivets are originally designed to fasten two sheets of plate material together, and for example, as shown in Figure 6, blind rivet a requires the formation of crimped portion c in front (rear side) of through hole b, and in addition to crimped portion c, it requires the placement of covering body e such as a bottomed cylinder that protrudes further forward from plate material d, resulting in a large portion protruding in front (back side) of plate material d. For this reason, if blind rivet a is used to prevent water leakage from pipes, problems will arise such as durability issues due to contact with fluids caused by components such as covering body e and crimped portion c protruding into the pipe, and increased resistance to the flow of fluid.
[0005] The present invention has been made in consideration of the problems of the conventional technology, and aims to provide a water-stopping method for pipe walls and a water-stopping rivet that can stop water from the outside without contacting the fluid inside the pipe or disturbing the flow. [Means for solving the problem]

[0013] Hereinafter, an embodiment of a water-stopping method for a pipe wall and a water-stopping rivet according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. As shown in Figs. 1 to 5, the water-stopping method for a pipe wall includes a hole processing step 10 for processing a water-stopping through hole 11 from an outer surface 1a in a water-stopped portion 2 of a pipe wall 1, a bottomed seal cap 31 having a length L located within the through hole 11 and a flange portion 31a that abuts against the outer surface 1a, a sleeve 32 that is disposed inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a, and a seal cap 31 in front of the sleeve 32. and a water-stopping step 40 in which the mandrel 33 is pulled out, the head 33a expands the diameter of the sleeve 32, and the mandrel 33 is cut at the cut portion 33b by the pressing force against the inner surface of the through hole 11 and the frictional force caused by the seal cap 31, thereby performing water-stopping within the through hole 11. Through these three steps, namely, the hole processing step 10, the rivet installation step 20, and the water-stopping step 40, water is stopped by the water-stopping rivet 30 equipped with a seal cap 31 in the water-stopping through hole 11 in the pipe wall 1, thereby eliminating the inward protrusion of the pipe wall 1 and stopping water from the outside without contacting the fluid or disrupting the flow of the fluid.
[0014] 1, the hole processing step 10 is a step of processing a water-stopping through hole 11 as a pilot hole from the outer surface 1a to a water-leaking location in a pipe wall 1, for example, a pinhole (a portion to be water-stopped), and an oversized through hole 11 is formed that is larger than the pinhole 2 from which water is leaking and includes the pinhole 2 in its center, so that the pinhole 2 is replaced by the through hole 11. The through hole 11 is formed by penetrating the pipe wall 1 to a size that allows the pinhole 2 from which water is leaking to be replaced by the through hole 11, and has a size as a pilot hole specified for the water-stopping rivet 30 to be used.
[0015] As shown in Figure 2, the rivet installation process 20 is a process of installing a water-stopping rivet 30 in the through hole 11 formed in the hole machining process 10 (see Figure 1). In the rivet installation process 20, a water-stopping rivet 30 is used, and unlike a normal blind rivet (see Figure 6), the water-stopping portion 34 (see Figures 3 and 5) is positioned within the through hole 11 formed in the pipe wall 1, and the water-stopping portion 34 is installed in the through hole 11 with no part protruding forward (to the inside of the pipe) beyond the through hole 11.
[0016] The watertight rivet 30 used in the rivet installation process 20 is manufactured to match, for example, the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 to be watertight, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, and when installed in the through hole 11, none of its component parts are located in front of the through hole 11, and is configured to include a seal cap 31, a sleeve 32 and a mandrel 33.
[0017] The seal cap 31 has a bottomed cylindrical portion 31b with a large-diameter flange 31a that abuts against the outer surface 1a of the pipe wall 1, and is long enough so that the tip of the cylindrical portion 31b is located inside the through hole 11 when the flange 31a is in abutment against the outer surface 1a. The bottomed cylindrical portion 31b has an outer diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the through hole 11, and if the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion 31b is 5 mm, for example, the inner diameter of the through hole 11 serving as a pilot hole is 5.2 mm. The seal cap 31 is made of an elastic rubber material such as chloroprene rubber or ethylene propylene rubber that has no effect on the fluid flowing through the pipe when it comes into contact with the fluid, and for example, ethylene propylene rubber is used for water supply pipes. The hardness of the rubber of the seal cap 31 is preferably in the range of 60 to 70 degrees in terms of elasticity and ensuring sealing properties.
[0018] The sleeve 32 is disposed inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body 32a and a flange 32b that is abutted against the outer surface 1a via a flange 31a, forming a so-called hollow rivet. The sleeve 32 is made of a metal material, and typically, aluminum or steel is used, but since it is covered with the seal cap 31, it does not need to be made of stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
[0019] The mandrel 33 is positioned at the center of the cylindrical body 32a of the sleeve 32, and a head 33a for expanding the diameter is formed at its tip, which is located inside the seal cap 31 at the front of the sleeve 32, and a cut portion 33b is formed behind the head 33a by a recess or notch, etc., and the base end protrudes outside the sleeve 32 so that a tool such as a riveter can be attached. When the mandrel 33 is pulled out from the tip end of the sleeve 32 towards the base end, the head 33a comes into contact with the tip of the body 32a of the sleeve 32, and when the mandrel is pulled in in this state, the sleeve 32, which presses the flange portion 32b, is compressed in the axial direction and expands outward, applying a pressing force to the inner wall of the through hole 11 through the seal cap 31, and a frictional force is generated through the seal cap 31, forming a water-stopping portion 34. When the resistance of the cutting portion 33b of the mandrel 33 becomes small due to the balance between the pressing force and frictional force generated in the waterstop portion 34 of the waterstop rivet 30 and the strength (resistance) of the cutting portion 33b, the waterstop rivet 30 breaks from the cutting portion 33b. When this mandrel 33 is cut and the waterstop rivet 30 is attached and fixed in the through hole 11, the waterstop portion 34 is held in place by a pressing force and frictional force (holding force) greater than the force that cuts the mandrel 33 at the cut portion 33b, via the sleeve 32 and seal cap 31, and a force similar to that acting on the waterstop portion 34 when a normal blind rivet is cut and attached and fixed in place acts on it.
[0020] 2 and 3, such a waterstop rivet 30 is prefabricated to a length L (the length from the inside of the flange 31a of the seal cap 31 to the outside of the bottomed cylindrical part 31b) that is equal to or shorter than the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 (T≧L). The waterstop rivet 30 is assembled by inserting a mandrel 33 from the tip to the base end of the body part 32a of the sleeve 32 so that the head 33a is positioned at the tip of the body part 32a, and covering the head 33a and body part 32a with the seal cap 31 so that the flange part 32b is in contact with the inside of the flange part 31a. The assembled waterstop rivet 30 is attached with the flange part 31a in contact with the outer surface 1a of the through hole 11 formed in the hole processing step 10, thereby completing the rivet attachment step 20.
[0021] In the water-stopping process 40, a tool such as a riveter is attached to the base end of the mandrel 33 of the water-stopping rivet 30 attached to the through hole 11 in the pipe wall 1, and the riveter is operated to pull out the mandrel 33 while pressing the flange portion 32b of the sleeve 32 so that the flange portion 31a of the seal cap 31 is in contact with the outer surface 1a of the pipe wall 1.
[0022] When the mandrel 33 is pulled out from the tip end of the sleeve 32 towards the base end, the head 33a comes into contact with the tip of the body 32a of the sleeve 32, and when the mandrel 33 is pulled in in this state, the sleeve 32 with the flange 32b pressed is compressed in the axial direction and expands towards the outer periphery. When the mandrel 33 is further pulled in, a pressing force due to the expansion is applied to the inner circumferential wall of the through hole 11 via the seal cap 31, and the seal cap 31 is also expanded, generating a frictional force between the inner circumferential wall of the through hole 11 and forming a watertight portion 34. When the strength (resistance) of the cut portion 33b of the mandrel 33 becomes small against the pressing force and frictional force generated between the inner wall of the through hole 11 and the waterstop portion 34 of the waterstop rivet 30, the cut portion 33b of the mandrel 33 will be cut. When this mandrel 33 is cut and the water-stopping portion 34 of the water-stopping rivet 30 is attached and fixed in the through hole 11, a force similar to that acting on the water-stopping portion 34 when a normal blind rivet is cut and attached and fixed is ensured, making it possible to ensure a water-stopping state.
[0023] By using such a water-stopping rivet 30 to form a water-stopping portion 34 on the inner wall of the through hole 11 in the pipe wall 1 to stop the water from entering, there are no protruding parts on the inside of the pipe wall 1, which prevents the flow of fluid inside the pipe from being disturbed and does not provide resistance to the flow of fluid. Furthermore, the influence of the fluid flow on the rubber seal cap 31 is minimized, durability is ensured, and any influence on the water quality is avoided.
[0024] Next, another embodiment of the pipe wall waterproofing method and the waterproofing rivet of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the pipe wall waterproofing method already described, a water-stopping rivet 30 having a length L corresponding to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 is used. In the present invention, however, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, a water-stopping rivet 30A longer than the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 is used, and the tip position can be adjusted to stop water. This water-stopping method for pipe walls comprises a hole processing process 10 in which a water-stopping through hole 11 is processed from the outer surface 1a into a pinhole (water-stopped portion) 2 in the pipe wall 1, a rivet installation process 20 in which a water-stopping rivet 30A is installed, a position adjustment process 20A in which the tip position of the water-stopping rivet 30A is adjusted, and a water-stopping process 40 in which the water is stopped after the position adjustment process 20A. Of these four steps, the hole machining step 10, the rivet installation step 20 and the water-stopping step 40 are the same as those in the embodiment already described above, so here we will mainly explain the position adjustment step 20A and the water-stopping rivet 30A, which are different from the above.
[0025] As shown in Figures 4 and 5, the water-stopping rivet 30A is composed of a seal cap 31 having a flange portion 31a and a bottomed cylindrical portion 31b that are inserted from the outer surface 1a of a through hole 11 formed in the water-stopped portion 2 (see Figure 1) of the pipe wall 1 and abut against the outer surface 1a, a sleeve 32 that is arranged inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a, a mandrel 33 that is located inside the seal cap 31 in front of the sleeve 32, has a head 33a at its tip that is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the body portion 32a, and has a cutting portion 33b behind the head 33a, and a position adjustment member 35 that is interposed between the flange portion 31a and the outer surface 1a of the seal cap 31 to position the tip of the seal cap 31 within the through hole 11. That is, the waterstop rivet 30A differs from the waterstop rivet 30 in the length L relative to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 and in the configuration in which a position adjustment member 35 is provided.
[0026] The waterstop rivet 30A is not manufactured in advance with a length L corresponding to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 of the waterstopped portion 2, but is prepared with, for example, one or more types of lengths L longer than the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 according to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1a of piping used in water treatment facilities such as a sewage treatment plant or a pumping station. The seal cap 31, sleeve 32 and mandrel 33 of the waterstop rivet 30A have the same configuration as the waterstop rivet 30 except for their respective lengths. 4 and 5, the position adjustment member 35 is interposed between the flange portion 31a of the seal cap 31 and the outer surface 1a to position the tip of the seal cap 31 within the through-hole 11. The position adjustment member 35 has a hole larger than the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion 31b of the seal cap 31 so that it can be inserted into the cylindrical portion 31b in advance. In addition, the position adjustment material 35 may be a groove such as a U-shape instead of a hole for inserting the cylindrical portion 31b, and may be inserted laterally between the flange portion 31a of the seal cap 31 and the outer surface 1a to adjust the tip position of the seal cap 31. The position adjustment member 35 is a plate material made of metal or synthetic resin, and the position of the tip of the seal cap 31 is adjusted by its thickness. The position adjustment member 35 may be one sheet or multiple sheets stacked together, and may be of the same thickness or different thicknesses. The outer diameter of the position adjustment member 35 is not particularly specified, and it may be flat or have a curved surface that fits the outer surface 1a of the pipe wall 1.
[0027] The water-stopping rivet 30A is assembled by inserting a mandrel 33 from the tip to the base end of the body 32a of the sleeve 32 so that the head 33a is positioned at the tip of the body 32a, and then covering the head 33a and body 32a with the seal cap 31 so that the flange portion 32b is abutted against the inside of the flange portion 31a.Furthermore, a position adjustment member 35 is inserted into the cylindrical portion 31b of the seal cap 31 in advance.
[0028] In the position adjustment process 20A, a position adjustment material 35 set to a thickness corresponding to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 is assembled to the water-stopping rivet 30A, and the assembled water-stopping rivet 30A is attached with the position adjustment material 35 in contact with the outer surface 1a of the through hole 11 formed in the hole processing process 10, thereby completing the rivet attachment process 20 and the position adjustment process 20A.
[0029] In addition, as the rivet installation process 20, the rivet installation process 20 in which the water-stopping rivet 30A is installed is completed in a state before the position adjustment material 35 is assembled to the water-stopping rivet 30A, with a space being left between the flange portion 31a of the seal cap 31 of the water-stopping rivet 30A and the outer surface 1a of the through hole 11 formed in the hole processing process 10. After this, the position adjustment process 20A can be completed by fitting the position adjustment material 35 from the side via a U-shaped groove so as to sandwich it into the space between the flange portion 31a of the seal cap 31 of the water-stopping rivet 30A and the outer surface 1a of the through hole 11.
[0030] In this way, after going through the position adjustment process 20A, the tip position of the seal cap 31 of the water-stopping rivet 30A, which is longer than the through hole 11, is fitted inside the through hole 11 using the position adjustment material 35, and then the mandrel 33 is pulled out, the sleeve 32 is expanded in diameter by the head 33a, and the mandrel 33 is cut from the cutting portion 33b by the pressing force against the inner surface of the through hole 11 and the frictional force of the seal cap 31, forming a water-stopping portion 34 inside the through hole 11 to stop the water, thereby completing the water-stopping process.
[0031] Through these four steps, namely, the hole processing step 10, the rivet mounting step 20, the position adjustment step 20A, and the water-stopping step 40, water is stopped using a water-stopping rivet 30A equipped with a seal cap 31 within the water-stopping through hole 11 in the pipe wall 1, thereby eliminating the inward protrusion of the pipe wall 1 and enabling water to be stopped from the outside without coming into contact with the fluid or disrupting the flow of the fluid. According to this pipe wall waterproofing method, there is no need to prepare a water-stopping rivet 30 of a length corresponding to the thickness of the pipe wall 1 in advance, but rather, a long water-stopping rivet 30A is inserted with one or more position adjustment materials 35 for adjusting the thickness, and the tip position is set within the through hole 11, making it possible to easily waterproof a pinhole 2 that occurs in the pipe wall 1.
[0032] Regarding such a water stop construction method for a pipe wall, the water stop performance of the water stop rivet 30 and the water stop rivet 30A was confirmed by a water pressure test. In the test, a 5.5 mm diameter through hole was formed in a ductile cast iron pipe with a diameter of 300 mm and a wall thickness of 6 mm to serve as a through hole for a pinhole. As the watertight rivet 30A, a seal cap 31 made of chloroprene rubber with an outer diameter of 5 mm was prepared, and a length and position adjustment member 35 was prepared that allows the tip position of the seal cap 31 to be adjusted within the through hole. This water-stopping rivet 30A was attached to the through hole, and a riveter was connected to a mandrel 33 and pulled out, thereby forming a water-stopping portion 34 in the through hole 11. In this state, the inside of the pipe was sealed and a water pressure of 1 MPa was applied and maintained. As a result, it was confirmed that the pressure inside the pipe was maintained, the watertight state was secured, and there was no water leakage. It was confirmed that this water pressure was above the standard water pressure resistance value of 0.75 MPa used in ordinary sewage treatment plants and pumping stations.
[0033] As specifically described above along with the embodiment and the water pressure test, the watertight construction method for a pipe wall of the present invention includes a hole processing step 10 for processing a watertight through hole 11 from an outer surface 1a in a watertight portion 2 of a pipe wall 1, a bottomed seal cap 31 having a length L located within the through hole 11 and a flange portion 31a that abuts against the outer surface 1a, a sleeve 32 that is disposed inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a, and a sleeve 32 that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the sleeve 32. and a mandrel 33 located within the seal cap 31 in front of the through hole 11, the mandrel 33 having a head 33a at its tip which is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the body 32a and a cut portion 33b behind the head 33a. The mandrel 33 is then pulled out, the head 33a expands the diameter of the sleeve 32, and the mandrel 33 is cut from the cut portion 33b by the pressing force against the inner surface of the through hole 11 and the frictional force caused by the seal cap 31, thereby achieving watertightness within the through hole 11.
[0034] According to this configuration, by installing the waterstop rivet 30 in the through hole 11 of the pipe wall 1, water can be stopped from the outside without contacting the fluid inside the pipe or disturbing the flow. As a result, there is no part of the waterstop rivet 30 protruding from the through hole 11 into the piping, and problems such as durability problems due to contact with the fluid and increased resistance to the flow of the fluid can be avoided.
[0035] The watertight construction method for pipe walls of the present invention includes a hole processing step 10 for processing a watertight through hole 11 from an outer surface 1a in a watertight portion 2 of a pipe wall 1, a bottomed seal cap 31 that is inserted from the outer surface 1a of the through hole 11 and has a flange portion 31a that abuts against the outer surface 1a, a sleeve 32 that is arranged inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a, and a sleeve 32 that is located inside the seal cap 31 in front of the sleeve 32 and has a head portion 33a at its tip that is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a. The process is composed of a rivet installation process 20 in which a water-stopping rivet 30A having a mandrel 33 with a cutting portion 33b is installed into the through hole 11, a position adjustment process 20A in which a position adjustment material 35 is interposed between the flange portion 31a and the outer surface 1a so that the tip position of the seal cap 31 of the water-stopping rivet 30A is within the through hole 11, and a water-stopping process 40 in which the mandrel 33 is pulled out, the sleeve 32 is expanded with the head 33a, and the mandrel 33 is cut from the cutting portion 33b by the pressing force against the inner surface of the through hole 11 and the frictional force caused by the seal cap 31, thereby stopping water within the through hole 11.
[0036] According to this configuration, the waterstop rivet 30A can be arranged in the through hole 11 using the position adjusting material 35 even if the waterstop rivet 30 does not have a length corresponding to the thickness T of the pipe wall 1, and water can be stopped from the outside without contacting the fluid in the pipe or disturbing the flow. As a result, there is no part of the waterstop rivet 30A protruding from the through hole 11 into the piping, and problems such as durability problems due to contact with the fluid and increased resistance to the flow of the fluid can be avoided. Without preparing a waterstop rivet 30 of a length corresponding to the thickness of the pipe wall 1 in advance, one or more position adjusting materials 35 for adjusting the thickness are interposed between the long waterstop rivet 30A and the tip position is set in the through hole 11, and the pinhole 2 generated in the pipe wall 1 can be easily waterstopped.
[0037] The water-stopping rivet 30A of the present invention comprises a seal cap 31 having a flange portion 31a and a bottomed cylindrical portion 31b that are inserted from the outer surface 1a of a through hole 11 formed in the water-stopped portion 2 of the pipe wall 1 and abut against the outer surface 1a, a sleeve 32 that is arranged inside the seal cap 31 and has a cylindrical body portion 32a and a flange portion 32b that abuts against the outer surface 1a via the flange portion 31a, a mandrel 33 that is located inside the seal cap 31 in front of the sleeve 32, has a head 33a at its tip that is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the body portion 32a, and has a cutting portion 33b behind the head 33a, and a position adjustment member 35 that is interposed between the flange portion 31a and the outer surface 1a of the seal cap 31 to adjust the tip position of the seal cap 31 within the through hole 11. According to this configuration, a waterstop rivet 30A longer than the thickness T of the pipe wall 1 can be installed in the through hole 11 with its tip position adjusted by the position adjusting member 35, and water can be stopped from the outside without contacting the fluid in the pipe or disturbing the flow. This prevents the waterstop rivet 30A from protruding from the through hole 11 into the pipe, and avoids problems such as durability problems due to contact with the fluid and increased resistance to the flow of the fluid. Without having to prepare a waterstop rivet 30 with a length corresponding to the thickness of the pipe wall 1 in advance, a long waterstop rivet 30A can be inserted with one or more position adjusting members 35 for adjusting the thickness, and the tip position can be set in the through hole 11, allowing pinholes 2 occurring in the pipe wall 1 to be easily waterstopped.
[0038] In the waterstop rivets 30, 30A, the cut portion 33b of the mandrel 33 is cut against the frictional force and pressing force applied to the through hole 11 via the seal cap 31 due to the expansion of the sleeve 32 caused by the pulling out of the head 33a. With this configuration, the pressing force and frictional force of the waterstopping portion of the waterstopping rivet 30, 30A can be secured by setting the cutting portion 33b, and by using a waterstopping rivet 30A that is longer than the thickness T of the pipe wall 1, water can be stopped between the inner wall within the through hole 11 while maintaining the same strength (here, waterstopping strength) as a normal blind rivet.
[0039] In a watertight rivet, the seal cap is made of rubber such as chloroprene rubber or ethylene propylene rubber. According to this configuration, water can be stopped while avoiding any effect on the fluid inside the pipe, and reactions with tap water or other fluids can be avoided.
[0040] In the above embodiment, the piping has been described as being for water treatment or the like, but the present invention is not limited to this and may be for other purposes, and the material of the piping is not limited to metal pipes and may be synthetic resin pipes, etc. Furthermore, the thickness of the pipe wall can be widely applied as long as blind rivets can be prepared and attached. Furthermore, the present invention can be configured by using each invention alone or in combination with each other, and the effects of each invention can be achieved in combination. The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. [Explanation of symbols]
