This invention provides a female medical coupling port with an integrated port guide to enable more accurate and precise coupling of a male port coupling (such as the cannula of a syringe) and to prevent port exposure to non-sterile objects. The male and female ports can be arranged according to standard dimensions for male and female luer taper fittings recognized by ANSI and by ISO. This guide-shielded port is usable with the standard ANSI and ISO male cannula widely used in the medical field. In an embodiment the female port is used in medical fluid systems to receive a blunt male cannula, such as those found in the luer lock fitting of needle-less syringes and IV tubing systems to establish a mechanical coupling. Female ports allow coupling of devices (e.g. syringes and IV tubing) to a variety of medical applications including stopcocks, minimum fluid displacement medical couplings, female-to-female adapters, port dead-end caps, IV extension sets, pressure-monitoring devices, etc. The port guide can be constructed as a unitary part of the port, or can be a retrofittable structure that is either snapped into place on, for example, a female port stem, or slid onto a port, such as a minimum displacement fluid coupling. Appropriate drain ports can be provided in the port guide to prevent capture of excess fluid.

Disposable, closed blood sampling system for use in medical conduit line

A disposable, closed fluid sampling system for use with a medical conduit line, especially for taking blood samples from a pressure monitoring line. The conduit line has at least one fluid sampling site interposed between a distal segment of tubing and a proximal segment of tubing. The system includes a disposable subsystem having a bypass cannula adapted to engage the sampling site, a reservoir for drawing a prime volume of fluid past the sampling site, and a fluid sampling container. A 3-way stopcock may connect the reservoir, bypass cannula, and sampling vessel for controlling the sampling procedure. The bypass cannula may simultaneously place the subsystem into fluid communication with an inner chamber of the sampling site and exclude the proximal segment of the conduit line. Alternatively, a stopcock immediately adjacent the sampling site in the proximal segment may be utilized. A method of using the system includes attaching the disposable subsystem, opening the reservoir to the distal segment while excluding the proximal segment, drawing a prime volume of fluid into the reservoir, opening the sampling vessel to the distal segment and drawing a sample, re-infusing the prime volume into the distal segment, and removing and discarding the subsystem. The reservoir remains attached between the prime volume draw and re-infusion and is thus “closed.”

The invention discloses a steplessly adjustable electric control gas valve which comprises a valve body, a valve plug, and a motor for driving the valve plug, wherein a cock hole fitted with the valve plug is arranged in the valve body, and the inner wall of the cock hole is provided with air inlet holes; an axially-arranged center hole is arranged in the valve plug, and the circumferential surface of the valve plug is provided with at least two air outlet holes which correspond to the same air inlet hole and used for controlling the flow quantity of each section of gas flowing through the air inlet hole; the external wall surface of the valve plug at the height of the air outlet hole is provided with a vent groove which is arranged along the circumferential direction of the valve plug, the air outlet hole for controlling the maximum gas flow quantity of the air inlet hole is communicated with the vent groove, and the parts of the other air outlet holes close to the center hole are radially narrowed so as to form a gas control section. The electric control gas valve disclosed by the invention has the advantages that through setting the vent groove communicated with the air outlet hole for controlling the maximum air flow quantity of the air inlet hole on the external circumferential surface of the valve plug, the parts of the other air outlet holes close to the center hole areradially narrowed so as to form the gas control section, therefore, even if gaps exist between mechanisms, the firepower of stoves also can accurately be controlled.
