[0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2015-141945 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In conventional laminated coil components, the ends of the coil conductors are directly connected to the terminal electrodes, and therefore, when an external force is applied to the terminal electrodes, stress is applied to the connection between the ends of the coil conductors and the terminal electrodes, which may cause the connection to become unstable, leading to a deterioration in the characteristics of the laminated coil component or a malfunction of the laminated coil component.
[0005] An object of one aspect of the present invention is to provide a laminated coil component in which improved connectivity between coil conductors and terminal electrodes is achieved. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] A laminated coil component according to one aspect of the present invention includes an element body formed of a plurality of laminated insulating layers and having a mounting surface that intersects with a lamination direction, a coil conductor provided within the element body and having a pair of ends extending along the lamination direction toward the mounting surface, a pair of terminal electrodes provided on the mounting surface of the element body and electrically connected to the pair of ends of the coil conductor, respectively, and facing each other in a first direction on the mounting surface, and a pair of connecting portions respectively interposed between the pair of ends of the coil conductor and the pair of terminal electrodes, wherein the coil conductor has a first wiring portion extending parallel to the mounting surface, a second wiring portion extending parallel to the mounting surface on a side farther from the mounting surface than the first wiring portion, and a pair of connecting portions extending along the lamination direction. and a pillar portion extending from the first wiring portion to connect the first wiring portion and the second wiring portion, the first wiring portion extends in a direction inclined with respect to the first direction when viewed from the stacking direction, and includes an inclined portion adjacent to the connection portion in a second direction perpendicular to the stacking direction and the first direction, the connection portion has an overlapping portion that overlaps with an end of the coil conductor when viewed from the stacking direction, and an extension portion that extends inward along the first direction from the overlapping portion, and the length in the second direction perpendicular to the stacking direction and the first direction when viewed from the stacking direction is longer at a base end located on the overlapping portion side of the extension portion than at a tip end, and at least a portion of the contour of the extension portion on the first wiring portion side is inclined in the same direction as the inclined portion of the first wiring portion.
[0007] In the laminated coil component, a pair of connection parts are respectively interposed between a pair of ends of the coil conductor and a pair of terminal electrodes in the stacking direction. The connection parts have extension parts extending from overlapping parts that overlap the ends of the coil conductor, and the contact area with the terminal electrodes is enlarged compared to when the ends of the coil conductor are directly connected to the terminal electrodes. At least a part of the contour of the extension parts of the connection parts on the first wiring part side is inclined in the same direction as the inclined parts of the first wiring part of the coil conductor, thereby improving the connectivity between the coil conductor and the terminal electrodes while spacing the first wiring part from the connection parts.
[0008] In the laminated coil component according to the other side face, when viewed from the lamination direction, the entire contour of the extending portion on the first wiring portion side is inclined in the same direction as the inclined portion of the first wiring portion.
[0009] In the laminated coil component according to the other side face, when viewed from the lamination direction, the contour of the extension portion on the first wiring portion side is inclined so as to be parallel to the inclined portion of the first wiring portion.
[0010] In a laminated coil component according to another aspect, the shapes of a pair of connecting portions are symmetrical to each other.
[0011] In a laminated coil component according to another aspect, the shapes of a pair of connection portions are asymmetrical.
[0012] In a laminated coil component according to another aspect, the area of the end portion of the coil conductor is larger than the area of the pillar portion when viewed in the lamination direction. Effect of the Invention
[0013] According to various aspects of the present invention, there is provided a laminated coil component in which the connectivity between the coil conductors and the terminal electrodes is improved. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0015] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the description of the drawings, the same or corresponding elements are designated by the same reference numerals, and duplicated explanations will be omitted.
[0016] The laminated coil component according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the laminated coil component according to one embodiment. As shown in Fig. 1, the laminated coil component 1 includes an element body 2, a pair of terminal electrodes 3 and 4, and a coil conductor 5.
[0017] The element body 2 has a rectangular parallelepiped shape. The rectangular parallelepiped shape includes a rectangular parallelepiped shape with chamfered corners and ridges, and a rectangular parallelepiped shape with rounded corners and ridges. The element body 2 has a pair of end faces 2a, 2b, a pair of main faces 2c, 2d, and a pair of side faces 2e, 2f as outer surfaces. The end faces 2a, 2b face each other. The main faces 2c, 2d face each other. The side faces 2e, 2f face each other. In the following, the facing direction of the end faces 2a, 2b is a first direction D1, the facing direction of the side faces 2e, 2f is a second direction D2, and the facing direction of the main faces 2c, 2d is a third direction D3. The first direction D1, the third direction D3, and the second direction D2 are approximately perpendicular to each other.
[0018] The end faces 2a, 2b extend in the third direction D3 to connect the main faces 2c, 2d. The end faces 2a, 2b also extend in the second direction D2 to connect the side faces 2e, 2f. The main faces 2c, 2d extend in the first direction D1 to connect the end faces 2a, 2b. The main faces 2c, 2d also extend in the second direction D2 to connect the side faces 2e, 2f. The side faces 2e, 2f extend in the first direction D1 to connect the end faces 2a, 2b. The side faces 2e, 2f also extend in the third direction D3 to connect the main faces 2c, 2d.
[0019] The main surface 2d is a mounting surface, and is a surface that faces another electronic device (not shown) when the laminated coil component 1 is mounted on the other electronic device (for example, a circuit board or a laminated electronic component). The end surfaces 2a and 2b are surfaces that are continuous with the mounting surface (i.e., the main surface 2d).
[0020] The length of the element body 2 in the first direction D1 is longer than the length of the element body 2 in the third direction D3 and the length of the element body 2 in the second direction D2. The length of the element body 2 in the third direction D3 is shorter than the length of the element body 2 in the second direction D2. That is, in this embodiment, the end faces 2a, 2b, the main faces 2c, 2d and the side faces 2e, 2f have a rectangular shape. The length of the element body 2 in the third direction D3 may be equal to the length of the element body 2 in the second direction D2 or may be longer than the length of the element body 2 in the second direction D2.
[0021] In this embodiment, "equivalent" may mean not only equal but also values including slight differences or manufacturing errors within a preset range. For example, if multiple values are within a range of ±5% of the average value of the multiple values, the multiple values are defined as equivalent.
[0022] 2, the element body 2 has a configuration in which multiple element body layers are stacked in the third direction D3, and in this embodiment, the element body 2 is composed of eight element body layers 21-28. That is, the stacking direction of the element body 2 coincides with the third direction D3. In an actual element body 2, the multiple element body layers 21-28 may be integrated to the extent that the boundaries between the layers are not visible, or may be integrated so that the boundaries between the layers are visible.
[0023] Each of the element layers 21-28 is mainly composed of a resin material. The resin material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of liquid crystal polymer, polyimide resin, crystalline polystyrene, epoxy resin, acrylic resin, bismaleimide resin, and fluorine resin. The resin material may or may not include a filler. The filler is, for example, an inorganic filler. An example of the inorganic filler is silica.
[0024] As shown in Fig. 2, of the element layers 21-28, the element layer 21 constituting the main surface 2c is made only of a resin material. The wiring portions 6, 7, 8a-8e constituting the coil conductor 5 are embedded in the element layers 22-27. More specifically, the element layer 22 has a plurality of second wiring portions 6 embedded therein, the element layers 23-26 have wiring portions 8a-8d embedded therein that constitute the pillar portion 8 described below, and the element layer 27 has a plurality of first wiring portions 7 and a wiring portion 8e constituting the pillar portion 8 embedded therein. The element layer 28 constituting the main surface 2d has a pair of connecting portions 9, 10 embedded therein that will be described below.
[0025] Each of the base layers 21-28 may be made of a magnetic material. The magnetic material may include, for example, a Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite material, a Ni-Cu-Zn-Mg ferrite material, or a Ni-Cu ferrite material. The magnetic material may include, for example, an Fe alloy. Each of the base layers 21-28 may include a non-magnetic material, which may be a glass ceramic material or a dielectric material.
[0026] The pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 is composed of a first terminal electrode 3 and a second terminal electrode 4. Each terminal electrode 3, 4 is provided on the element body 2. Each terminal electrode 3, 4 is arranged on the main surface 2d of the element body 2. The pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 are provided on the element body 2 spaced apart from each other in the first direction D1. Specifically, the first terminal electrode 3 is arranged on the end face 2a side of the element body 2, and the second terminal electrode 4 is arranged on the end face 2b side of the element body 2.
[0027] The pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 each have a rectangular shape (rectangular shape) when viewed from the third direction D3. The pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 have the same dimensions. Each of the terminal electrodes 3, 4 is arranged such that each side of the rectangle is aligned with the first direction D1 or the second direction D2. Each of the terminal electrodes 3, 4 protrudes beyond the main surface 2d. That is, in this embodiment, the surface of each of the terminal electrodes 3, 4 is not flush with the main surface 2d. Each of the pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 is made of a conductive material (e.g., Cu). The pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 may be embedded in the element body 2. In this case, the pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 may be provided substantially flush with the main surface 2d, or may protrude partially from the main surface 2d.
[0028] A plating layer (not shown) containing, for example, Ni, Sn, Au, etc. may be provided on each of the terminal electrodes 3, 4 by electrolytic plating or electroless plating. The plating layer may have, for example, a Ni plating film containing Ni and covering the terminal electrodes 3, 4, and an Au plating film containing Au and covering the Ni plating film.
[0029] The coil conductor 5 is disposed within the element body 2. The coil conductor 5 has a plurality of second wiring portions 6, a plurality of first wiring portions 7, and a plurality of pillar portions 8. The coil conductor 5 is configured by electrically connecting the second wiring portions 6, the first wiring portions 7, and the pillar portions 8. The coil axis of the coil conductor 5 is provided along the second direction D2. The second wiring portions 6, the first wiring portions 7, and the pillar portions 8 are configured of a conductive material (e.g., Cu). The second wiring portions 6, the first wiring portions 7, and the pillar portions 8 are disposed away from the end faces 2a, 2b, the main faces 2c, 2d, and the side faces 2e, 2f.
[0030] Each of the second wiring parts 6 is disposed on the principal surface 2c side of the element body 2. Each of the second wiring parts 6 extends along the first direction D1. Each of the second wiring parts 6 connects two pillar parts 8. The second wiring parts 6 are bridged across the two pillar parts 8. One end of the second wiring part 6 in the extension direction (the end on the end surface 2a side) is connected to one end of the pillar part 8 (the end on the principal surface 2c side). The other end of the second wiring part 6 in the extension direction (the end on the end surface 2b side) is connected to one end of the pillar part 8.
[0031] Each of the first wiring parts 7 is disposed on the main surface 2d (mounting surface) side of the element body 2. Each of the first wiring parts 7 extends in a first direction D1. Each of the first wiring parts 7 connects two pillar parts 8. The first wiring part 7 is hung across the two pillar parts 8. One end (end on the end surface 2a side) of the first wiring part 7 in the extending direction is connected to the other end (end on the main surface 2d side) of the pillar part 8. The other end (end on the end surface 2b side) of the first wiring part 7 in the extending direction is connected to the other end of the pillar part 8. The number of the multiple first wiring parts 7 is one less than the number of the multiple second wiring parts 6. That is, when the number of the second wiring parts 6 is n, the number of the first wiring parts 7 is n-1. In this embodiment, the number of the second wiring parts 6 is five, and the number of the first wiring parts 7 is four.
[0032] Each first wiring portion 7 is generally composed of an inclined portion 7a. When viewed from the third direction D3, the inclined portion 7a is inclined at a predetermined angle θ with respect to the first direction D1. The inclination angle θ of the inclined portion 7a with respect to the first direction D1 is the same for all first wiring portions 7. That is, the multiple first wiring portions 7 are parallel to each other. By forming the first wiring portion 7 as a whole with the inclined portion 7a, the shape of the first wiring portion 7 is closer to a straight line without any steps or bends. Therefore, the electrical resistance when a current flows through the first wiring portion 7 is kept low.
[0033] Each of the pillar portions 8 is disposed on the end surface 2a side and the end surface 2b side of the element body 2. Each of the pillar portions 8 extends along the third direction D3. In this embodiment, the cross-sectional shape of the pillar portion 8 in a cross section perpendicular to the third direction D3 is substantially rectangular (specifically, substantially square). The cross-sectional shape of the pillar portion 8 may be, for example, a circular shape, an elliptical shape, or a polygonal shape other than a rectangular shape. The pillar portion 8 connects the second wiring portion 6 and the first wiring portion 7. One end of the pillar portion 8 is connected to one end and the other end of the second wiring portion 6. The other end of the pillar portion 8 is connected to one end and the other end of the first wiring portion 7. Of the multiple pillar portions 8, the pillar portion 8 adjacent to the side surface 2f has one end connected to one end of the second wiring portion 6 and constitutes the end 5a of the coil conductor 5, and the pillar portion 8 adjacent to the side surface 2e has one end connected to the other end of the second wiring portion 6 and constitutes the end 5b of the coil conductor 5. Both the pillar portion 8 adjacent to the side surface 2f and the pillar portion 8 adjacent to the side surface 2e may be designed so that adjacent pillar portions 8 are approximately equally spaced as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, or may be designed so that they are not equally spaced (the intervals between at least some of the pillar portions are different).
[0034] A pair of connecting portions 9, 10 are provided within the element body 2 and are respectively interposed between a pair of ends 5a, 5b of the coil conductor 5 and the pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4. The pair of connecting portions 9, 10 are composed of a first connecting portion 9 and a second connecting portion 10.
[0035] The first connection portion 9 electrically connects the first terminal electrode 3 and the end 5a of the coil conductor 5. The first connection portion 9 is electrically connected to the other end of the pillar portion 8 of the coil conductor 5. The first connection portion 9 is made of a conductive material (for example, Cu). As shown in FIG. 5, the first connection portion 9 has an overlapping portion 31 and an extending portion 32 when viewed from the third direction D3. The overlapping portion 31 is a portion that overlaps with the end 5a of the coil conductor 5. In this embodiment, the overlapping portion 31 has a substantially rectangular shape, and each side is arranged along the first direction D1 and the second direction D2. The extending portion 32 is a portion that extends inward from the overlapping portion 31 along the first direction D1. The extending portion 32 has a substantially trapezoidal shape tapering inward, and the width of the tip end 32b corresponding to the upper base of the trapezoid is narrower than the width of the base end 32a corresponding to the lower base of the trapezoid (i.e., the length in the second direction D2). In this embodiment, the entire contour of the extension 32 on the first wiring portion 7 side is inclined in the same direction as the inclined portion 7a of the first wiring portion 7 (a direction that slopes downward to the right in FIG. 5). In addition, in this embodiment, the entire contour of the extension 32 on the first wiring portion 7 side is inclined so as to be parallel to the inclined portion 7a of the first wiring portion 7. The contour of the extension 32 on the side surface 2f side extends parallel to the first direction D1 from the base end 32a to the tip 32b. The end of the first connection 9 on the side surface 2f side may coincide with the end of the first terminal electrode 3 on the side surface 2f side. The end of the first connection 9 on the end surface 2a side may coincide with the end of the first terminal electrode 3 on the end surface 2a side.
[0036] The second connection portion 10 electrically connects the first terminal electrode 3 and the end portion 5b of the coil conductor 5. The second connection portion 10 is electrically connected to the other end portion of the pillar portion 8 of the coil conductor 5. The second connection portion 10 is made of a conductive material (e.g., Cu). As shown in FIG. 5, the shape of the second connection portion 10 is symmetrical to the shape of the first connection portion 9. Specifically, the shape of the second connection portion 10 is point-symmetrical to the shape of the first connection portion 9 with respect to the center O of the main surface 2d (mounting surface). In this way, when the shape of the first connection portion 9 and the shape of the second connection portion 10 are symmetrical to each other, it is possible to suppress the characteristic variation of the laminated coil component 1.
[0037] The second connection portion 10 has an overlapping portion 31 and an extending portion 32 as viewed from the third direction D3, similar to the first connection portion 9. The overlapping portion 31 of the second connection portion 10 is a portion that overlaps with the end portion 5b of the coil conductor 5, and the extending portion 32 of the second connection portion 10 is a portion that extends inward from the overlapping portion 31 along the first direction D1. As with the first connection portion 9, the entire contour of the extending portion 32 on the first wiring portion 7 side is inclined in the same direction as the inclined portion 7a of the first wiring portion 7 (a direction that slopes downward to the right in FIG. 5). In this embodiment, the entire contour of the extending portion 32 on the first wiring portion 7 side is inclined so as to be parallel to the inclined portion 7a of the first wiring portion 7. The contour of the extending portion 32 on the side surface 2e side extends parallel to the first direction D1 from the base end 32a to the tip end 32b. The end of the second connection portion 10 on the side surface 2e side may coincide with the end of the second terminal electrode 4 on the side surface 2e side. The end of the second connection portion 10 on the end surface 2b side may coincide with the end of the second terminal electrode 4 on the end surface 2b side.
[0038] Regarding the dimensions of the pair of connection portions 9 and 10, as shown in FIG. 3, the length C1 of the first connection portion 9 in the first direction D1 is longer than the length P1 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the first connection portion 9 in the first direction D1, and is equal to or less than the length E1 of each of the first terminal electrodes 3 in the first direction D1 (P1 < C1 ≦ E1). In the present embodiment, the length C1 of the first connection portion 9 in the first direction D1 is longer than the length P1 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the first connection portion 9 in the first direction D1, and is the same as the length E1 of each of the first terminal electrodes 3 in the first direction D1 (P1 < C1 = E1). The length C1 of the second connection portion 10 in the first direction D1 is longer than the length P1 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the second connection portion 10 in the first direction D1, and is equal to or less than the length E1 of each of the second terminal electrodes 4 in the first direction D1 (P1 < C1 ≦ E1). In the present embodiment, the length C1 of the second connection portion 10 in the first direction D1 is longer than the length P1 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the second connection portion 10 in the first direction D1, and is the same as the length E1 of each of the second terminal electrodes 4 in the first direction D1 (P1 < C1 = E1). As shown in FIG. 4, the length C2 of the first connection portion 9 in the second direction D2 is equal to or greater than the length P2 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the first connection portion 9 in the second direction D2 (C2 ≧ P2). The length C2 of the second connection portion 10 in the second direction D2 is equal to or greater than the length P2 of the pillar portion 8 connected to the second connection portion 10 in the second direction D2 (C2 ≧ P2). In the present embodiment, the length P3 of the pillar portion 8A that constitutes the pair of end portions 5a and 5b of the coil conductor 5 in the second direction D2 is designed to be equal to the length P2 of the other pillar portions 8 in the second direction D2 (P3 = P2). Not limited to this, the length P3 of the pillar portion 8A in the second direction D2 may be designed to be longer than the length P2 of the other pillar portions 8 in the second direction D2 (P3 > P2), or may be designed to be shorter (P3 < P2). Thereby, the characteristics (electrical characteristics, magnetic characteristics, etc.) of the coil may be appropriately adjusted. Note that the length of the wiring portion 8e that constitutes the end portion 5a (or 5b) of the coil conductor 5 in the second direction D2 may be equal to the length of the other wiring portions 8a to 8d that constitute the pillar portion 8A (or 8B) in the second direction D2, or may be longer than the length of the other wiring portions 8a to 8d in the second direction D2. The length of the end portion 5a (or 5b) of the coil conductor 5 in the second direction D2 may be equal to the length C2 of the connection portion 9 (or the connection portion 10) in the second direction D2.
[0039] As described above, in the laminated coil component 1 according to the present embodiment, a pair of connection parts 9, 10 are respectively interposed between a pair of ends 5a, 5b of the coil conductor 5 and a pair of terminal electrodes 3, 4 in the third direction D3. The connection parts 9, 10 have an overlapping part 31 overlapping with the ends 5a, 5b of the coil conductor 5 and an extending part 32 extending from the overlapping part 31, and the area of the connection parts 9, 10 is larger than the area of the ends 5a, 5b of the coil conductor 5 when viewed from the third direction D3. Therefore, the contact area with the terminal electrodes 3, 4 is enlarged compared to a case where the ends 5a, 5b of the coil conductor 5 are directly connected to the terminal electrodes 3, 4 without the connection parts 9, 10 being interposed. This realizes high connection reliability between the coil conductor 5 and the terminal electrodes 3, 4.
[0040] Additionally, in the laminated coil component 1 according to this embodiment, the contours of the extending portions 32 of the connecting portions 9, 10 on the first wiring portion 7 side are inclined in the same direction as the inclined portions 7a of the first wiring portion 7 of the coil conductor 5. In this case, while spacing the first wiring portion 7 from the connecting portions 9, 10, the extending portions 32 of the connecting portions 9, 10 can be brought close to the first wiring portion 7, thereby increasing the area of the connecting portions 9, 10 (i.e., increasing the contact area with the terminal electrodes 3, 4).
[0041] When the contour of the extension portion 32 of the connection portions 9, 10 on the first wiring portion 7 side is parallel to the inclined portion 7a of the first wiring portion 7, as in the laminated coil component 1 of this embodiment, the extension portion 32 of the connection portions 9, 10 can be brought closer to the first wiring portion 7 while maintaining a distance between the first wiring portion 7 and the connection portions 9, 10, thereby enabling a further increase in the area of the connection portions 9, 10 (i.e., a further increase in the contact area with the terminal electrodes 3, 4).
[0042] The present invention is not necessarily limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications are possible without departing from the gist of the present invention.
[0043] For example, the coil conductor 5 and the connection parts 9 and 10 are not limited to the above-mentioned shapes and can be appropriately modified. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the first wiring part 7 of the coil conductor 5 further has a pair of non-inclined parts 7b located on both sides of the inclined part 7a. Each non-inclined part 7b extends parallel to the first direction D1. One non-inclined part 7b includes an area overlapping with the corresponding pillar part 8 when viewed from the third direction D3, and is located closer to the end face 2a. The other non-inclined part 7b includes an area overlapping with the corresponding pillar part 8 when viewed from the third direction D3, and is located closer to the end face 2b. The inclined part 7a connects the pair of non-inclined parts 7b, and is inclined by a predetermined angle θ with respect to the first direction D1 when viewed from the third direction D3. The inclination angle θ of the inclined part 7a with respect to the first direction D1 is the same in all the first wiring parts 7. That is, the multiple first wiring parts 7 have a parallel relationship with each other at the inclined parts 7a. 6, it is possible to increase the area of the connection portions 9, 10 (i.e., increase the contact area with the terminal electrodes 3, 4) by bringing the extension portions 32 of the connection portions 9, 10 close to the first wiring portion 7 while spacing the connection portions 9, 10 apart. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, in particular, it is possible to bring the extension portions 32 of the regions adjacent to the non-inclined portion 7b in the second direction D2 close to the non-inclined portion 7b, thereby increasing the area of the connection portions 9, 10.
[0044] Furthermore, the shapes of the pair of connecting parts 9, 10 are not limited to being symmetrical, and may be asymmetrical. For example, as shown in Fig. 7, the first connecting part 9 and the second connecting part 10 may have different lengths in the first direction D1, and the length of the second connecting part 10 may be shorter than the length of the first connecting part 9. By making the shapes of the pair of connecting parts 9, 10 asymmetrical in this way, the polarity of the coil conductor 5 can be determined from the shapes of the connecting parts 9, 10, for example, during quality inspection (traceability) of the element.
[0045] Furthermore, each of the connection parts 9, 10 is not limited to a single-layer structure, and may be a multi-layer structure. That is, each of the connection parts 9, 10 may be composed of a plurality of layers overlapping in the third direction D3. In this case, the layers constituting the connection parts 9, 10 may have the same shape as seen from the third direction D3, or may have different shapes. When the layers constituting the connection parts 9, 10 have different shapes as seen from the third direction D3, the area of the layer in contact with the terminal electrodes 3, 4 may be the largest, and the area of the layer farther from the terminal electrodes 3, 4 may be smaller. In this case, the three-dimensional shape of each of the connection parts 9, 10 may be a pyramid shape or a step shape.
