Abstract

To provide external skin or hair care compositions having ingredients that inhibit the decrease of aquaporins or promote their production in order to prevent skin moisture loss, since aquaporins, present in skin cell membranes, are water-permeable membrane proteins that facilitate the distribution of moisture throughout the stratum corneum and contribute to the maintenance of skin hydration and the amount of aquaporins is known to decrease with age and as a result of oxidative stress and causes dryness of the skin and a reduction in firmness.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a novel external skin or hair care composition that contains isosorbide dicaprylate to promote the production of aquaporins and increase the moisture content of the skin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

1. A skin or hair care composition for external use, characterized by containing isosorbide dicaprylate.
