Abstract

A method and apparatus for providing inspection of a weld is disclosed, the method including the steps of preparing a weld inspection device in proximity to a weld on a substrate to be inspected, performing the inspection, where the substrate is subjected to an elevated temperature condition above ambient temperature by heating during the inspection, the performing the inspection including emitting ultrasonic waves within a volume of the substrate and the weld and receiving at least a portion of the ultrasonic waves from the substrate and the weld, thereby obtaining a plurality of signal sets, and processing one or more of the plurality of signal sets to provide weld inspection data, the processing including correcting for temperature distribution within the volume of the substrate and / or the weld at elevated temperatures.
