Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to compositions comprising piroctone olamine and the use of said compositions in personal or home care products. [Background technology]

[0002] With the rapid development of production and economy, the demand for care products, especially personal care products, such as shampoo or conditioner, is increasing.People want their hair to be clean, smooth, beautiful and bouncy after using good quality shampoo or hair care products. However, in recent years, dandruff has become a problem for many consumers.

[0003] Researchers have found that the overgrowth of Malassezia is an important cause of dandruff.Traditional treatments for dandruff include the use of antidandruff agents, such as zinc pyrithione, which are present in a medium, particularly in shampoos, gels or lotions, to allow the antidandruff agent to disperse and deposit on the skin. The drawback of using pyrithione salt preparations has been found to be the adverse effect on keratin fibers, particularly sensitized keratin fibers, which reduces the aesthetic properties of hair, particularly by making hair coarser and more charged.

[0004] Researchers have developed piroctone olamine. Piroctone olamine is an antifungal active agent. German patent applications DE2234009A1 and DE1795270A1 disclose the formula of piroctone olamine. German patent application DE1795270A1 also describes a method for producing piroctone olamine. Piroctone olamine exists in crystalline form and can be added to personal care products to effectively reduce or eliminate dandruff. Furthermore, patent application WO2002 / 08196 describes the use of piroctone olamine as a preservative.

[0005] The demand for high quality anti-dandruff products is increasing. Consumers are seeking multifunctional anti-dandruff products with good solubility and wide application. Therefore, a novel composition containing piroctone olamine is desired that has a good balance between effective anti-dandruff and antiseptic effects and good solubility. EXAMPLES

[0042] example The present invention is further described below with reference to specific embodiments or examples.

[0043] Unless otherwise specified, the stated contents are in weight percent. Experimental methods for which no specific conditions are given in the examples are generally carried out according to conventional conditions.

[0044] [Table 1] Test Method Anti-dandruff effect test Many clinical trials have demonstrated that a reduction in Malassezia on the scalp indicates a reduction in dandruff. Therefore, the anti-dandruff effect of a product can be evaluated by its ability to inhibit Malassezia furfur. The anti-dandruff effect of the composition of the present invention was evaluated using the following zone of inhibition experimental test method.

[0045] Zone of inhibition experiment: Zone of inhibition is carried out on modified Leeming-Notman culture medium. Specifically, the concentration of Malassezia is adjusted, 0.3ml of inoculum is spread over the surface of modified Leeming-Notman culture medium, and then incubated at room temperature for 24 hours. All samples to be tested are dissolved in sterile solvent. The procedure is described above to check the zone of inhibition and the plate is incubated at 35°C for 5 days. After incubation, the plate is observed. The zone of inhibition is measured using a zone measurement scale, and the result is recorded.

[0046] Determination of antifungal effect: inhibition zone area ≥ 300 mm 2 means extremely effective anti-dandruff effect, i.e. "+++"; 300mm 2 > Area of inhibition zone ≥ 150mm 2 means very effective anti-dandruff effect, i.e. "++"; 100mm 2 > Area of inhibition zone ≥ 50mm 2 means moderate antidandruff effect, i.e. "+"; inhibition zone area <50mm 2 means no anti-dandruff effect, i.e. "-".

[0047] Preservative Efficacy Test According to the European Pharmacopoeia 8th Edition, the preservative effectiveness of the composition is tested by microbiological testing. The criteria for determining the outcome of the preservative efficacy challenge are as follows: 1) Criterion A for bacterial species requires a 2 log (or more) reduction on day 2, a 3 log (or more) reduction on day 7, and no further bacterial increase. No increase in bacterial counts was detected on days 14 and 28. Criterion B requires a 3 log (or more) reduction on day 14, and no further bacterial increase. No increase in bacterial counts when tested on day 28. 2) Criterion A for yeast / mold species requires a 2 log reduction on day 14, and no further increase. Criterion B requires a 1 log reduction on day 14, and no further increase.

[0048] Solubility Test Experimental method: Dissolve the composition in different solvents to determine its solubility. The solubility is determined as follows: solubility>50% means highly soluble, i.e. "++++"; 50%>solubility≧30% means high solubility, i.e. "+++"; 30%>solubility≧10% means good solubility, i.e. "++"; 10%>solubility≧5% means average solubility, i.e. "+"; solubility<5% means poor solubility, i.e. "-".

[0049] Stability test: Samples of Examples 1-10 and Comparative Examples 1-6 were filled into transparent bottles to 80% height (three parallel samples) and placed in a room temperature thermostat at 25° C. and a low temperature thermostat at 4° C., respectively. The samples were monitored for one month while observing their appearance.

[0050] Stability determination: clear, homogeneous transparency means stable, i.e. "++++"; precipitation of insoluble material or appearing heterogeneous means unstable, i.e. "-".

[0051] Preparation of the Composition At room temperature and pressure, add piroctone olamine to the alcohol solvent and stir to completely dissolve. The dissolved mixture is then added to the surfactant. Finally, add the fatty acid ester or oil to the mixture and stir with a mixer to completely dissolve.

[0052] The composition can be added by a low temperature process during formulation / preparation, thus saving energy consumption, which is an advantage over processes that require the addition of Piroctone Olamine to a surfactant solution at 70-80°C, or its dispersion in water, or pre-dissolution in a polyol.

[0053] At room temperature, compositions of the present invention were obtained by mixing and dissolving alcohol solvent, surfactant, piroctone olamine, and fatty acid ester or oil in the ratios shown in Table 1 according to the manufacturing method described above. More specifically, Examples 1-10 and Comparative Examples ("CE") 1-6 are shown in Table 1 (weight percentages are used for each component). The bacteria inhibition effect and stability evaluation of Examples 1-10 and Comparative Examples 1-6 in Table 1 are shown in Table 5.

[0054] [Table 2] Preparation of Shampoo Composition As shown in Tables 2 and 3, shampoos 1 to 17 were further prepared based on the composition examples 7 to 9 of the present invention and comparative examples 1 to 2, and the shampoos were tested and evaluated for their antimicrobial and antiseptic effects.

[0055] Preparation of Shampoo According to the ratio in Table 2 and Table 3, water, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium laureth sarcosinate, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, decyl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide MEA, disodium EDTA are put into an emulsifying pot, the mixture is stirred while the temperature is increased to 75°C, polyquaternium-10 is dispersed in water, and the temperature is 50°C while stirring uniformly. The dispersion mixture is put into the emulsifying pot while stirring and the temperature is decreased to 45°C. Citric acid and preservative are further added respectively, and stirred uniformly and distributed. All products are clear liquids with similar appearance and excellent physical properties compared with typical hair shampoo products on the market.

[0056] Table 2 shows shampoo compositions made from compositions of the present invention, Examples 6 and 7, by mixing with the other listed ingredients in various weight percentages and subsequently tested for anti-dandruff and antiseptic efficacy.

[0057] [Table 3] Table 3 shows shampoos 8 to 17 that were prepared without additional preservatives by using Example 8 of the composition of the present invention, and Comparative Examples 1 and 2, mixed with other ingredients listed in Table 3 at various weight percents, and subsequently tested for antidandruff and preservative effects.

[0058] [Table 4] Test results Solubility test results Table 4 shows the solubility properties of Examples 1-10 in different solvents.

[0059] [Table 5] Test results show that the composition of the present invention has excellent solubility. The composition of the present invention can be applied very well to water-based products. This can expand the application range of the composition of the present invention, such as tint, spray, serum, etc.
