Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to an emulsion cosmetic containing a high amount of niacinamide. [Background technology]
[0002] Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, niacin, or vitamin B3, is an amide compound of nicotinic acid. Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin and a member of the B vitamin family. Niacinamide deficiency can lead to deficiency diseases such as pellagra. Niacinamide is used as an ingredient in topical medications to treat acne (acne vulgaris) and in cosmetics for cosmetic purposes. In Japan, it is approved as an active ingredient for wrinkle improvement (wrinkle niacin) and whitening (nicotinamide) in quasi-drug cosmetics.
[0003] As mentioned above, niacinamide has often been incorporated into skin care cosmetics as an active ingredient for wrinkle reduction. A high concentration of 3 to 7% by mass is required to improve wrinkles and impart firmness and elasticity to the skin. However, it is known that high niacinamide content can lead to a decrease in the feel of the product when used, and empirically, a decrease in the feel of the product when used in amounts of 3% by mass or more has been confirmed. This decrease in feel is particularly pronounced when used in oil-in-water emulsion cosmetics, resulting in the loss of the characteristic refreshing feel that is the benefit of oil-in-water emulsions. Furthermore, the spreadability and compatibility with the skin, which are important design qualities for cosmetics, are reduced, often causing problems. Generally, to improve the feel of use, such as freshness, spreadability, and skin compatibility, the ingredients contained in the cosmetic are appropriately combined and adjusted, such as oils, thickeners, moisturizers, surfactants, etc. However, when the niacinamide content is high, it has been difficult to obtain an emulsion cosmetic with improved feel of use, even with such adjustments.
[0004] In general, it is important for wrinkle-improving cosmetics to not only provide wrinkle-improving effects over long-term use, but also to provide an "immediate feeling" of wrinkle improvement. The "immediate feeling" of wrinkle improvement is measured by the firmness of the skin felt immediately after use. It is known that the firmness of the skin can be more effectively felt when cosmetics contain mainly solid oils and film-forming agents. However, the excessive use of solid oils, etc., can cause problems, particularly in oil-in-water emulsion cosmetics, as the refreshing feel of use, good spreadability, and good compatibility with the skin are lost. As mentioned above, when niacinamide is contained at a high content, the niacinamide alone reduces the freshness, spreadability, and skin compatibility of the emulsion cosmetic. Therefore, blending a solid oil in addition to the niacinamide in the hope of achieving a firming feeling immediately after use increases the risk of significantly impairing the desirable feel of use, so caution was required. However, no fully satisfactory product has been obtained. There is a demand for cosmetics that contain a high content of niacinamide and are excellent in all aspects: freshness, spreadability, skin compatibility, and firmness (immediate effect). In this context, a technology for increasing the content of niacinamide has been disclosed.
[0005] For example, Patent Document 1 describes a cosmetic that contains propylene glycol or polypropylene glycol to solve the stickiness and other unpleasant sensations that are characteristic of cosmetics containing niacinamide, and that results in a cosmetic that is non-sticky, has oily affinity to the skin, and provides a firming and other sensational finish. It also describes the inclusion of a water-holding oil agent.
[0006] Furthermore, Patent Document 2 describes a cosmetic composition that contains a high amount of niacinamide, as well as a water-soluble polysaccharide and an amphiphilic compound. The poor viscosity stability of the composition caused by niacinamide has been improved.
[0007] Furthermore, Patent Document 3 describes an emulsion composition containing niacinamide, an acylamino acid derivative, a sterol ester, and a higher alcohol. This emulsion composition provides skin with firmness. However, while the conventional technologies represented by Patent Documents 1 to 3 may achieve one of the following characteristics: spreadability, compatibility with the skin, moisturizing feel, and firmness, achieving all of these characteristics is problematic. There is a demand for cosmetics that contain a high amount of niacinamide and are excellent in all three aspects: moisturizing feel, good spreadability, compatibility with the skin, and firmness. [0011] The present invention provides an emulsion cosmetic that is highly niacinamide-rich, gives skin firmness immediately after application, has excellent spreadability and compatibility with the skin, gives a fresh feeling when used, and is highly stable. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The present invention relates to an emulsion cosmetic containing 3% by mass or more of niacinamide as component (A), a specific water-soluble polymer as component (B), and an ester oil showing an IOB value of 0.15 to 0.35 as component (C). <Component (A): Niacinamide> Niacinamide, component (A) of the present invention, is an amide compound of nicotinic acid, a water-soluble vitamin also known as nicotinamide (vitamin B3 / niacin). Niacinamide may be an extract from a natural product or may be synthesized by a known method. Specifically, niacinamide listed in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia can be used. In addition to its wrinkle-reducing effect, niacinamide is known to promote blood circulation, improve rough skin, inhibit melanin production, and have a whitening effect.
[0013] In the emulsion cosmetic of the present invention, the content of component (A) is 3% by mass or more. To achieve a skin wrinkle improvement effect at the same level as a quasi-drug, the content of component (A) is 3% by mass or more, preferably 3 to 10% by mass, more preferably 3 to 7% by mass, and particularly preferably 5 to 7% by mass, based on the total amount of the cosmetic.
[0014] <(B) component; water-soluble polymer> Examples of the water-soluble polymer (B) contained in the emulsion cosmetic of the present invention include xanthan gum, sclerotium gum, sodium carboxymethyl dextran, and acryloyldimethyl taurate-containing copolymers. The acryloyldimethyl taurate-containing copolymer is preferably (sodium acrylate / sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate) copolymer. [0029] The cosmetics of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3 were evaluated for the following items according to the following evaluation criteria. The evaluation was determined by a panel of five experienced and specialized sensory evaluators who discussed the sensation of use after application.
[0030] 2. Evaluation of elongation during application An appropriate amount of the cosmetic was applied to the skin, and the ease of spreading was evaluated by sensory evaluation when spreading it in a circular motion with the fingers. Good stretch. No resistance. ×: Poor stretchability. There is a strong resistance when stretched.
[0031] 3. Familiarity assessment An appropriate amount of the cosmetic was applied to the skin and spread using a finger in a circular motion for 1 minute, after which the state of compatibility with the skin surface was subjected to a sensory evaluation. ○: Well-familiar. ×: Not absorbed. There is a foreign body sensation, slippery feeling, and sticky feeling.
[0032] 4. Evaluation of firmness After allowing the cosmetic to fully absorb into the skin, it was left for 5 minutes, and then the applied area was gently pressed with a finger to perform a sensory evaluation of firmness. The formulation of Comparative Example 1 was used as a standard product, and the evaluation was based on whether the cosmetic felt firmer than this. ◯: The product felt firmer than the standard product (Comparative Example 1). ×: The firmness is equal to or less than that of the standard product (Comparative Example 1).
[0033] 5. Evaluation of freshness during application An appropriate amount of the cosmetic was applied to the skin, and the freshness was evaluated by sensory evaluation while spreading it in a circular motion with the fingers. ○: Fresh. ×: Not fresh.
[0034] 6. Stability check The prepared emulsified cosmetic was filled into a transparent glass bottle, sealed, and then stored in a thermostatic chamber at 50°C. After 30 days, the bottles were removed and the emulsified state of each sample solution was visually evaluated. The evaluation criteria were the following two-level evaluation. ○: No separation or precipitation. ×: Separation or precipitation occurs.
[0035] 7. Test Results The evaluation results are shown in the lower part of Table 1. The compositions in Table 1 (Examples 1 to 4, Comparative Examples 1 to 3) are all emulsion cosmetics containing a high niacinamide content of 5% by mass. The emulsion cosmetics of Examples 1 to 4, which have the configuration of the present invention, all provided skin with a firmer feeling immediately after application than the conventional product (Comparative Example 1) (rated as Good). Furthermore, the spreadability during application and compatibility with the skin were also rated as Good, and the cosmetics were determined to be of a sufficient level of quality. In other words, it was found that the problems of the prior art, such as poor spreadability during application and poor compatibility with the skin due to the high content of niacinamide, can be solved by adopting the configuration (A+B+C) of the present invention. All of the cosmetics of Examples 1 to 4 had no stability issues and provided a refreshing feel when used. On the one hand, in Comparative Example 1, there were no problems with elongation during application and skin affinity (〇 evaluation), but it lacked firmness (× evaluation). In addition, in Comparative Example 2, although it had firmness (〇 evaluation), elongation and skin affinity were poor (× evaluation). The cosmetics of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 had no problems with stability, but Comparative Example 2 lacked freshness. The cosmetics of Comparative Example 3 had × evaluations for firmness and stability. From the evaluation results of the cosmetics of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3, in an emulsified cosmetic highly containing 3% by mass or more of niacinamide, in order to achieve firmness of the skin (immediate effect), good elongation during application, good skin affinity, fresh usability, and excellent stability, it was found that it was necessary to contain an ester oil with an IOB value of 0.15 to 0.35 and a water-soluble polymer (B).
[0036] <Test with different water-soluble polymers as Component B> 1. Test method Emulsified cosmetics (Examples 5 to 7) with the compositions shown in Table 2 were prepared by a conventional method and evaluated in the same manner as above. The compositions in Table 2 were expressed in mass% with the total amount of the cosmetic being 100 mass%. Regarding the evaluation of firmness, "Formulation A" was prepared with the same composition except that the (B) water-soluble polymer (sclerotium gum) in the composition of Example 6 was replaced with 0.05 mass% of xanthan gum, and this was evaluated as a standard product (reference). 2. Evaluation of firmness After allowing the cosmetic to fully adapt to the skin, it was left for 5 minutes, and the sensory evaluation of firmness was performed by gently pressing the application site with a finger. Evaluation was made based on Formulation A as the standard product, whether it felt firmer than that. ○: Felt firmer than the standard product (Formulation A). ×: Had the same or lower firmness than the standard product (Formulation A). The results are shown in Table 2.
[0037]
Table 2
[0038] The compositions of Examples 5 to 7 all contain 5% by mass of niacinamide as component (A) and dipentaerythrityl tetra(hydroxystearate / isostearate) as component (C), an ester oil with an IOB value of 0.22. Example 5 contains sodium acrylate-sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer as component (B), Example 6 contains sclerotium gum as component (B), and Example 7 contains sodium carboxymethyldextran as component (B).
[0039] The evaluation results are shown in the lower part of Table 2. That is, all of the emulsion cosmetics of Examples 5 to 7 spread well, blended well with the skin, had a fresh feel when used, and were also excellent in stability. With regard to firmness, the firmness was felt to be stronger than that of the standard cosmetic containing xanthan gum (Formulation A), and was evaluated as being a more preferable firmness. That is, in order to obtain a cosmetic emulsion containing a high content of niacinamide (3% by mass or more) that achieves good spreadability, good compatibility with the skin, and immediate firmness, while also providing a fresh feel when used and excellent stability, it is necessary to include (C) an ester oil with an IOB value of 0.15 to 0.35 and (B) a water-soluble polymer. In particular, in order to obtain a desirable immediate firmness, it has been found that it is better to include one or more of the following as (B) the water-soluble polymer: an acryloyldimethyltaurate salt-containing copolymer, sclerotium gum, and carboxymethyldextran sodium.
[0040] <Formulation example 1: Oil-in-water sunscreen cream> Blend amount (mass%) Niacinamide 5 Titanium dioxide 7 Hydroxide Al 0.9 Dimethicone 2 Cyclopentasiloxane 15 Squalane 5 Isohexadecane 1 Stearic acid 0.7 Dipentaerythrityl tetrahydroxystearate / isostearate 0.5 (Sodium acrylate / sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate) copolymer 0.75 Polysorbate 80 0.05 Sorbitan oleate 0.01 Dilauramidoglutamide lysine Na 1 Pentylene glycol 1 BG 8 Purified water residual The resulting sunscreen cream left the skin feeling firm after application.
