DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0024] After extensive investigation, the inventors have discovered that it is possible to provide a method for treating skin using anhydrous compositions that can provide reduced greasiness or oiliness and also provide better penetration of skin care actives into the skin.
[0025] To achieve a method that can provide reduced greasiness or oiliness and also provide better penetration of skin care actives into the skin, the method according to the present invention combines two steps: using a first composition that is anhydrous and includes at least one peeling agent, and using a second composition, which is another composition that includes at least one skin care active and a significant amount of water.
[0026] Therefore, one aspect of the present invention is a method for treating skin, comprising: (1) On keratinous materials, (a) at least one peeling agent applying a first composition comprising: (2) On keratinous materials, (b) at least one skin care active ingredient, and (c) water applying a second composition comprising: Including, the first composition is anhydrous; The method is such that the amount of (c) water in the second composition is 40% by mass or more, preferably 50% by mass or more, and more preferably 60% by mass or more, relative to the total mass of the second composition.
[0027] The method according to the present invention combines the use of a first composition that is anhydrous with the use of a second composition that contains a significant amount of (c) water, which can provide a cooling sensation. Thus, the method according to the present invention uses a first composition that is anhydrous, but can provide reduced greasiness or oiliness.
[0028] Because the first composition (a) contains a peeling agent, the first composition can exfoliate the superficial layers of the skin, such as the stratum corneum, which (b) allows the skin care active ingredient to more easily penetrate into the skin. Therefore, the method according to the present invention can provide good penetration of the skin care active ingredient into the skin.
[0029] If the (a) peeling agent is selected from water-soluble particles, the method according to the present invention can also provide a clean skin finish because the second composition can dissolve the (a) peeling agent.
[0030] The present invention will be described in detail below.
[0031] [method] The method for treating skin according to the present invention comprises: (1) On keratinous materials, (a) at least one peeling agent applying a first composition comprising: (2) On keratinous materials, (b) at least one skin care active ingredient, and (c) water applying a second composition comprising: Including, the first composition is anhydrous; The amount of (c) water in the second composition is 40% by mass or more, preferably 50% by mass or more, and more preferably 60% by mass or more, based on the total mass of the second composition.
[0032] The first and second compositions used in the method according to the present invention are described in detail below.
[0033] {First composition} The first composition used in the method according to the invention comprises: (a) An anhydrous composition comprising at least one peeling agent.
[0034] The term "anhydrous" composition, as used herein, means a composition that does not contain water or that contains less than 3% by weight, preferably less than 1% by weight, more preferably less than 0.1% by weight of water relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0035] (peeling agent) The first composition used in the method according to the present invention comprises (a) at least one peeling agent. Two or more (a) peeling agents may be used in combination. Thus, a single type of peeling agent or a combination of different types of peeling agents may be used.
[0036] Peeling agents, as used herein, refer to substances capable of removing the superficial layers of the skin, for example the stratum corneum or keratinized layer of the skin.
[0037] (a) The peeling agent may be selected from mechanical peeling agents, chemical peeling agents, and mixtures thereof.
[0038] Mechanical peeling agents can remove superficial layers such as the stratum corneum from the skin by any mechanical action such as scrubbing.
[0039] Chemical peeling agents can remove superficial layers, such as the stratum corneum, from the skin by any chemical action, such as dissolving the superficial layers.
[0040] The mechanical peeling agent may be selected from water-soluble particles.
[0041] Water-soluble particles: The term "water soluble" as used herein refers to a water soluble polymer at room temperature (25°C) and atmospheric pressure (10 5 By "solubility in water" is meant a substance that has a solubility in water at 1000 kJ / L (at 2500 kJ / s), preferably at least 10 g / L, more preferably at least 100 g / L (at 2500 kJ / s).
[0042] Preferably, the water-soluble particles are insoluble in oil, ie, have a solubility in oil of less than 1 g / L, preferably less than 0.1 g / L.
[0043] The water-soluble particles may be of any shape, regardless of crystalline form (eg, lamellar, cubic, hexagonal, orthorhombic, etc.), and may be platelet-shaped, spherical, oval, or polygonal.
[0044] In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the water-soluble particles can function as water-soluble scrubbing particles. The water-soluble particles as scrubbing particles can physically destroy the skin, particularly the stratum corneum. In this embodiment, the water-soluble particles can be formed in the form of particles with hard, sharp edges and rough surfaces. The sharp-edged particles can be formed in the form of polygonal pyramids.
[0045] In certain embodiments of the present invention, the water-soluble particles may have an aspect ratio of at least 1.1, preferably at least 1.2, more preferably at least 1.5, even more preferably at least 2, and especially at least 2.5. In other embodiments of the present invention, the water-soluble particles may have an aspect ratio of 2 or less, preferably 1.5 or less, and more preferably 1.2 or less. The aspect ratio can be measured by techniques common in the art, for example, by image analysis using an electron microscope.
[0046] In another specific embodiment of the present invention, the water-soluble particles may have an average circularity, as determined by image analysis, of 0.95 or less, preferably 0.9 or less, more preferably 0.85 or less, and even more preferably 0.8 or less. In another embodiment of the present invention, the water-soluble particles may have an average circularity, as determined by image analysis, of 0.7 or more, preferably 0.8 or more, more preferably 0.85 or more, and even more preferably 0.9 or more.
[0047] The "average circularity" can be determined by image analysis. In particular, the "average circularity" can be the arithmetic mean of the circularities obtained by image analysis of scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of 2000 or more particles observed at 1000x magnification by secondary electron detection using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
[0048] The "circularity" of each particle is a value determined by the following formula: C=4πS / L 2 [Where C represents circularity, S represents the area (projected area) of the particle in the image, and L represents the perimeter (outer perimeter) of the particle in the image.] As the average circularity approaches 1, the shape of each particle becomes more spherical.
[0049] The water-soluble particles may have an average primary particle size of 10 μm or more, preferably 30 μm or more, more preferably 50 μm or more, even more preferably 100 μm or more, and particularly 200 μm or more. The average primary particle size of the water-soluble particles may be 1 mm or less, preferably 800 μm or less, more preferably 600 μm or less, and even more preferably 500 μm or less.
[0050] The term "average primary particle size" as used herein refers to the volume-average size mean diameter given by the statistical particle size distribution for half of the population, D 50 For example, the volume average particle size can be measured with a laser diffraction particle size distribution analyzer, such as a Mastersizer 2000 from Malvern Corp.
[0051] The material of the water-soluble particles is not particularly limited as long as it dissolves upon contact with water, but preferably the water-soluble particles are composed of ingredients that are cosmetically beneficial to the skin.
[0052] For example, the water-soluble particles can be composed of polysaccharides, monosaccharides, amino acids, sugar alcohols, ascorbic acid, and mixtures thereof. [0109] (organic lipophilic gelling agent) The first composition used in the method according to the present invention may comprise at least one organic lipophilic gelling agent (e). Two or more organic lipophilic gelling agents (e) may be used in combination. Thus, a single type of organic lipophilic gelling agent may be used, or a combination of different types of organic lipophilic gelling agents may be used.
[0110] The term "lipophilic" as used herein refers to the degree of 5 "soluble in oil" means a substance that is soluble in oil at a concentration of at least 1% by weight (at 1000 kJ / Pa) relative to the total weight of the oil.
[0111] The term "gelling" as used herein means that component (e) is capable of thickening or increasing the viscosity of the first composition.
[0112] When the first composition includes (e) at least one organic lipophilic gelling agent, the first composition can be thickened and have suitable applicability (e.g., not falling off during application).
[0113] The first composition is preferably in the form of a gel, for example an oil gel.
[0114] The term "gel" as used herein includes thick liquids that may be Newtonian or non-Newtonian. Newtonian fluids refer to fluids whose viscosity does not change with changes in flow conditions. Gels also include shear-thinning gels.
[0115] In one preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first composition may be a gel having a non-Newtonian viscosity. In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first composition may be shear-thinning. A non-Newtonian shear-thinning material changes state from a gel to a liquid in the presence of applied shear stress and reverts to a gel in the absence of applied shear stress. A shear-thinning material, by definition, is one in which the viscosity of the material decreases nonlinearly as the applied shear stress is increased.
[0116] The first composition may be characterized by its rheological properties. The first composition may have a storage modulus (G') of 50 Pa to 10,000 Pa, preferably 100 Pa to 7,500 Pa, and more preferably 500 Pa to 5,000 Pa.
[0117] The storage modulus (G') can be measured using a rheometer with 40 mm parallel plates and the following conditions: Setting interval: 500μm Temperature: 25℃ Strain(%): 1% Frequency: 1Hz
[0118] The first composition may have more suitable applicability if its storage modulus (G') is 50 Pa or more and 10,000 Pa or less, because a storage modulus (G') of 50 Pa or more can prevent the first composition from being easily destroyed before application, and a storage modulus (G') of 10,000 Pa or less can prevent the first composition from becoming a hard solid that is difficult to apply.
[0119] When the first composition has the above storage modulus (G'), (a) the peeling agent can be well dispersed in the first composition, and therefore the first composition can effectively exfoliate the superficial layers of the skin, such as the stratum corneum.
[0120] (e) The organic lipophilic gelling agent is selected from urethane polymers. The term "urethane polymer" as used herein means a polymer containing at least one urethane bond (-NH-COO-). The urethane polymer preferably contains multiple urethane bonds, and more preferably contains multiple repeating units each containing at least one urethane bond, especially multiple urethane bonds.
[0121] The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent may be crosslinked or non-crosslinked. The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent is preferably crosslinked.
[0122] The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent may be in the form of particles, preferably spherical particles. The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent in the form of particles may have a number average particle size ranging, for example, from 1 μm to 20 μm. The term "number average size" refers to the size given by the random particle size distribution of half of the population, and D 50 (e) The organic lipophilic gelling agent may be in the form of a powder.
[0123] The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent may be a copolymer. The (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent may be a copolymer of an isocyanate and trimethylolhexyllactone, in particular, a hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) / trimethylolhexyllactone crosspolymer. Examples of copolymers include urethane polymer powders sold by Toshiki Pigment Co., Ltd. under the names Plastic Powder D-400®, Plastic Powder D-800®, or Plastic Powder CS-400®, or by Lubrizol under the name Oilkemia® 5S CC Polymer.
[0124] Most preferably, as (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent, the first composition may include a hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) / trimethylol hexyl lactone crosspolymer, such as that sold under the name Oilkemia® 5S CC Polymer by Lubrizol.
[0125] The amount of (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent in the first composition may be 0.01% by weight or more, preferably 0.05% by weight or more, and more preferably 0.1% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the first composition.
[0126] On the other hand, the amount of (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent in the first composition may be 5% by mass or less, preferably 4% by mass or less, and more preferably 3% by mass or less, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0127] Therefore, the amount of (e) organic lipophilic gelling agent in the first composition may be 0.01% by mass to 5% by mass, preferably 0.05% by mass to 4% by mass, and more preferably 0.1% by mass to 3% by mass, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0128] (e) The organic lipophilic gelling agent can thicken the first composition even when its amount is small, for example, 5% by mass or less, preferably 4% by mass or less, and more preferably 3% by mass or less, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0129] (fatty alcohol) The first composition used in the method according to the present invention may contain (f) at least one fatty alcohol. Two or more (f) fatty alcohols may be used in combination. Thus, a single type of fatty alcohol or a combination of different types of fatty alcohols may be used.
[0130] The term "aliphatic" as used herein refers to the inclusion of a relatively large number of carbon atoms. Thus, alcohols having 6 or more, preferably 8 or more, and more preferably 10 or more carbon atoms are included within the scope of aliphatic alcohols. The aliphatic alcohols may be saturated or unsaturated. The aliphatic alcohols may be linear or branched. Two or more aliphatic alcohols may be used in combination.
[0131] (f) The aliphatic alcohol may have the structure R—OH, where R is selected from saturated and unsaturated, straight-chain and branched groups containing from 8 to 40 carbon atoms, e.g., from 8 to 30 carbon atoms. In at least one embodiment, R is selected from C 12 ~C 24 Alkyl groups and C 12 ~C 24 R is selected from the group consisting of alkenyl groups, which may or may not be substituted with at least one hydroxy group.

[0135] (f) Fatty alcohol may also represent a mixture of fatty alcohols, which means that several species of fatty alcohols can coexist in the form of a mixture in a commercial product.
[0136] Thus, according to at least one embodiment, the (f) fatty alcohol used in the first composition is chosen from a mixture of cetyl alcohol and cetearyl alcohol (cetearyl alcohol).
[0137] Non-limiting examples of branched fatty alcohols that may be mentioned include hexyldodecanol, octyldodecanol, and mixtures thereof.
[0138] (f) Aliphatic alcohols are used at room temperature (25°C) and atmospheric pressure (10 5 It is preferred that the compound is in the form of a liquid at or below 100 Pa.
[0139] (f) The fatty alcohol is preferably selected from branched fatty alcohols, more preferably selected from the group consisting of hexyldodecanol, octyldodecanol, and mixtures thereof.
[0140] The amount of (f) the aliphatic alcohol in the first composition may be 0.1% by mass or more, preferably 0.5% by mass or more, and more preferably 1% by mass or more, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0141] On the other hand, the amount of (f) aliphatic alcohol in the first composition may be 40% by mass or less, preferably 30% by mass or less, and more preferably 20% by mass or less, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0142] Therefore, the amount of (f) aliphatic alcohol in the first composition may be 0.1% by mass to 40% by mass, preferably 0.5% by mass to 30% by mass, and more preferably 1% by mass to 20% by mass, relative to the total mass of the first composition.
[0143] (Optional Ingredients) In addition to the above-mentioned components, the first composition may contain optional components typically used in cosmetics, specifically, lipophilic thickeners other than component (e), waxes, antioxidants, preservatives, etc., within ranges that do not impair the effects of the present invention.

[0145] (preparation) The first composition can be prepared by mixing the essential components described above and, if necessary, the optional components described above.
[0146] The method and means for mixing the above essential components and optional components are not limited. Any conventional method and means can be used to mix the above essential components and optional components to prepare the first composition.
[0147] (form) The anhydrous first composition may be clear.
[0148] Clarity can be measured by measuring turbidity (for example, turbidity can be measured using a 2100Q (commercially available from Hach Company) with a round cell (25 mm diameter and 60 mm height) and a tungsten filament lamp capable of emitting visible light (between 400 and 800 nm, preferably 400 to 500 nm). [0151] {Second Composition} The second composition used in the method according to the invention comprises: (b) at least one skin care active ingredient, and (c) water Including, The amount of (c) water in the second composition is 40% by mass or more, preferably 50% by mass or more, and more preferably 60% by mass or more, based on the total mass of the second composition.
[0152] The second composition may be an aqueous composition because it contains a substantial amount of (c) water.
[0153] (skin care active ingredient) The second composition used in the method according to the present invention comprises (b) at least one skin care active. Two or more skin care actives may be used in combination. Thus, a single type of skin care active or a combination of different types of skin care actives may be used.
[0154] (b) It is preferred that the skin care active ingredient has a log P value in the range of -4.5 to 4.5, preferably -4.0 to 4.0, more preferably -3.5 to 3.5.
[0155] The log P value is the base 10 logarithm of the apparent octanol / water partition coefficient. Log P values are known and are determined by standard tests that determine the concentration of the compound under consideration in octanol and water. Log P can be calculated by the method described in Meylan and Howard's article, "Atom / Fragment contribution method for estimating octanol-water partition coefficients," J. Pharm. Sci., Vol. 84, pp. 83-92, 1995. This value may also be calculated using a number of commercially available software packages that determine log P as a function of the molecule's structure. An example is Epiwin software from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
[0156] This value can be calculated using, inter alia, ACD (Advanced Chemistry Development) Solaris software V4.67, and can also be obtained from Exploring QSAR: hydrophobic, electronic and steric constants (ACS professional reference book, 1995). There is also an internet site that provides approximate values (address: http: / / esc.syrres.com / interkow / kowdemo.htm).
[0157] (b) The skin care actives may be in the form of salts. Salts of (b) the skin care actives include conventional, non-toxic salts of the compounds, for example, formed from acids or bases.
[0158] (b) The skin care active is preferably a skin care cosmetic active, more preferably a skin lightening agent or a skin anti-aging agent, e.g., an anti-wrinkle agent. [0166] (b) Skin care active ingredients include ascorbic acid and its derivatives.
[0167] Ascorbic acid is generally in the L-form, as it is usually extracted from natural products.
[0168] Due to its chemical structure (α-keto lactone), which makes it highly sensitive to certain environmental parameters such as light, heat and aqueous media, it may be advantageous to use ascorbic acid in the form of a derivative or analogue selected, for example, from sugar esters of ascorbic acid, or metal salts, alkali metal salts, esters and sugars of phosphoryl ascorbic acid.
[0169] Sugar esters of ascorbic acid that can be used in the present invention are, inter alia, glycosyl, mannosyl, fructosyl, fucosyl, galactosyl, N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmuramic acid derivatives of ascorbic acid, and mixtures thereof, more particularly ascorbyl glucosides, such as ascorbyl-2-glucoside, 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl L-ascorbic acid, or 6-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl L-ascorbic acid. [0173] The second ascorbic acid precursor may be selected from derivatives that are hydrolyzed by other enzymes, such as esterases, phosphatases, sulfatases, etc. According to the present invention, the second active agent precursor may be selected from, for example, phosphate esters, sulfate esters, palmitate esters, acetate esters, propionate esters, ferulate esters, and generally active agent alkyl or acyl esters, acyl or alkyl ethers. The acyl and alkyl groups in particular contain 1 to 30 carbon atoms. Mention may be made as a skin care active ingredient 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid.
[0174] In particular, the second precursor may be an ester derived from reaction with a mineral acid, such as a sulfate or phosphate ester, which reacts with sulfatases or phosphatases on contact with the skin, or the second precursor may be an acyl or alkyl ester derived from reaction with an organic acid, such as palmitic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, nicotinic acid, 1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid, or ferulic acid, which reacts with specific skin esterases.
[0175] Other derivatives are described, for example, in patent EP1430883.

[0192] (b) The skin care active may be selected from hyaluronic acid and its salts.
[0193] Hyaluronic acid is the predominant glycosaminoglycan found in the skin. Therefore, fibroblasts predominantly synthesize collagen, non-collagenous matrix glycoproteins (fibronectin, laminin), proteoglycans, and elastin. Keratinocytes, for their part, predominantly synthesize sulfated glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is also called hyaluronan.
[0194] Hyaluronic acid exists in free state in epidermis and dermis, and it is responsible for the turgor of skin. This polysaccharide can actually hold a large volume of water, up to 1000 times its mass.In this sense, hyaluronic acid plays an important role in increasing the amount of water bound in tissue, and also in the mechanical properties and wrinkle formation of skin.
[0195] Hyaluronic acid can be represented by the following chemical formula:
[0196] [ka]
[0197] In the context of the present invention, the term "hyaluronic acid" specifically encompasses the basic unit of hyaluronic acid of the formula:
[0198] [ka]
[0199] It is the smallest part of hyaluronic acid, containing a disaccharide dimer, namely D-glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine.
[0200] Salts may include alkali metal salts such as sodium salts and potassium salts, alkaline earth metal salts such as magnesium salts, ammonium salts, and mixtures thereof.
[0201] The molecular weight of hyaluronic acid or its salt is not limited. The molecular weight of hyaluronic acid may be 5 kDa or more, preferably 20 kDa or more, more preferably 100 kDa or more. The molecular weight of hyaluronic acid or its salt may be 20 MDa or less, preferably 10 MDa or less, more preferably 2,000 kDa or less. Therefore, the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid may be 5 kDa to 20 MDa, preferably 20 kDa to 10 MDa, more preferably 100 kDa to 2,000 kDa.
[0202] Unless otherwise defined in the description, "molecular weight" may mean weight average molecular weight.
[0203] Hyaluronic acid and its salts can function as moisturizers or humectants for the skin.
[0204] (b) The skin care active ingredient is preferably selected from skin lightening agents, skin anti-aging agents, skin moisturizers, and mixtures thereof.
[0205] (b) The skin care active ingredient is preferably selected from the group consisting of C-glycoside derivatives, salicylic acid and its derivatives, polyhydroxy acids and their salts, hyaluronic acid and its salts, such as sodium hyaluronate, and mixtures thereof.
[0206] The amount of (b) the skin care active ingredient in the second composition may be 0.01% by weight or more, preferably 0.05% by weight or more, more preferably 0.1% by weight or more, based on the total weight of the second composition.
[0207] On the other hand, the amount of (b) skin care active ingredient in the second composition may be 15% by weight or less, preferably 10% by weight or less, and more preferably 5% by weight or less, relative to the total weight of the second composition.

[0251] (Example A and Comparative Example A) Each of the compositions according to Example A and Comparative Example A was prepared by mixing the ingredients shown in Table 1. All figures for the amounts of ingredients in Table 1 are based on "wt %" of the active material.
[0252] [Table 1]
[0253] (Examples B to C and Comparative Example B) Each of the compositions according to Examples B-C and Comparative Example B was prepared by mixing the ingredients shown in Table 2. All figures for the amounts of ingredients in Table 2 are based on "mass %" of the active material.
[0254] [Table 2]
[0255] [evaluation] (Penetration test) Permeation experiments were performed in Franz diffusion cells (PermeGear) using a Strat-M membrane (Merck, surface area 1.77 cm). 2 The device consisted of a donor and a receptor section, with a Strat-M membrane between the two sections. The receptor section was filled with a predetermined volume of receiving solution (0.25% by weight Tween 80 / deionized water) maintained at a temperature of 32°C, which was continuously stirred by a small magnetic bar.
[0256] Each composition according to Example A and Comparative Example A was applied at 5 mg / cm 2 The Strat-M membrane was gently rubbed for 1 minute.
[0257] A composition containing the ingredients shown in Table 3 below also contains 5 mg / cm 2All figures for component amounts in Table 3 are based on "wt %" of active material.
[0258] [Table 3]
[0259] After 16 hours, 200 μl of the receptor solution was removed from the receptor compartment, and the same amount of fresh receptor solution was added to the receptor compartment to maintain the same permeation conditions. The removed receptor solution was analyzed by HPLC to determine the amount of skin care active ingredient (hydroxypropyltetrahydropyrantriol) in the receptor solution.
[0260] The results are shown in the row "Amount of active ingredient penetrated" in Table 4 below.
[0261] [Table 4]
[0262] (Skin Finishing) Six trained panelists rated the "skin finish" according to the level of greasiness or oiliness.
[0263] As a first step, each panelist applied a 1 g amount of the composition according to Example A onto their skin. After 1 minute, each panelist evaluated the "skin finish" by ranking it from 1 (very poor) to 5 (very good).
[0264] Next, as a second step, each panelist applied 1 g of each composition according to Examples B-C and Comparative Example B onto their skin. After 1 minute, each panelist evaluated the "skin finish" by ranking it as 1 (very poor), 2 (poor), 3 (fair), 4 (good), or 5 (very good).
[0265] The results are shown in the "First Step" and "Second Step" rows in Table 5 below.
[0266] [Table 5]
[0267] Example 1 in Table 5 refers to a combination of a first step for applying a composition according to Example A and a second step for applying a composition according to Example B.
[0268] Example 2 in Table 5 refers to a combination of a first step for applying a composition according to Example A and a second step for applying a composition according to Example C.
[0269] Comparative Example 1 in Table 5 refers to a combination of a first step for applying the composition according to Example A and a second step for applying the composition according to Comparative Example B.
