Mechanical apparatus for recovering spiral membrane elements and their components

By forming a tear-treated section on the outer periphery of the permeation-side spacer of the spiral membrane element and using mechanical equipment to separate the central tube, the problem of the difficulty in recycling the spiral membrane element is solved, realizing an efficient resource reuse and an environmentally friendly disassembly process.

Abstract

The objective is to provide a spiral-type membrane element and a machine suitable for its recovery operation, which does not require altering the basic structure of the spiral-type membrane element to be recycled, reduces waste generated by used membrane elements and saves introduced resources, and allows for easy recovery of the permeable side spacer and central tube. [Solution] The spiral membrane element comprises a plurality of membrane leaves having a permeation-side spacer interposed between opposing separation membranes, with both axial ends and the outer peripheral end sealed, a supply-side spacer interposed between the membrane leaves, and a perforated central tube around which the membrane leaves and the supply-side spacer are wound. The permeation-side spacer within the membrane leaf has a tear-processed portion along its entire width, on the outer peripheral side from the center.
