Abstract
The present invention relates to an underwater device (12) intended to be towed by a surface vessel (10), wherein the surface vessel (10) may be equipped with a handling system (20) for housing and deploying the underwater device (12). The handling system (20) comprises a towing cable (18) and an attachment cable (25b). The underwater device (12) comprises a flexible elongated body (16) and a towed body (14), the towed body (14) may be positioned between the towing cable (18) and the flexible elongated body (16). The underwater device also comprises an intermediate element (30) which may be positioned between the towed body (14) and the flexible elongated body (16). The intermediate element (30) is connected to the towed body (14) by a first connector (32). The intermediate element (30) is connected to the flexible, elongated body (16) by a second connector (34), and the first connector (32) is an articulated mechanical connector. The intermediate element (30) is a low-rigidity cable. The underwater device (12) is equipped with a retrieval cord (25a).
