Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the technical field of zirconia, and in particular to zirconia monomer dispersions, methods for preparing same, optical films and displays.
[0002] CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS This application claims priority based on a Chinese application filed with the China Patent Office on March 18, 2022, bearing application number 202210271565.8 and entitled "Zirconia monomer dispersion, its preparation method, optical film and display", the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. [Background technology]
[0003] Recently, monomeric zirconia dispersions obtained by combining zirconia particle dispersions with transparent resins or thin films have been widely used in the optical field. For example, optical films such as brightness enhancement films prepared using monomeric zirconia dispersions can be used in LCD displays to enhance the brightness and clarity of the display.
[0004] In the above-mentioned uses, when the primary particle size of zirconia and the particle size of secondary aggregates of zirconia in the monomer resin are close to the wavelength of visible light (380 to 800 nm), the monomer resin or film becomes cloudy due to the effect of scattering by the zirconia particles, and the desired transparency cannot be obtained. Therefore, there is a need for the development of a highly transparent zirconia dispersion in which zirconia particles are dispersed in the resin in the form of fine particles.
[0005] Although some monomer dispersions have been prepared, most of them have a problem of poor transmittance, which affects the effectiveness when used in the display field. For example, patent CN106268394B discloses a method for preparing zirconia microparticles or their dispersions, and when the content of the zirconia aqueous dispersion is 20% by weight or more, the transmittance at a wavelength of 400 nm is 35% or more, the transmittance at a wavelength of 800 nm is 95% or more, and the viscosity at a temperature of 25°C is 20 mPa·s or less. However, the patent does not contain any content regarding the transmittance of the zirconia monomer dispersion. The zirconia monomer dispersion is an organic-inorganic composite system, and each component influences each other, and the influencing factors are complex. In particular, it is difficult to harmonize the refractive index of each component in the system, the stability of the zirconia particles in the system, and the transmittance of the system, and if one indicator is measured only, the other indicators will inevitably be reduced. For this reason, it is very important to develop a monomer dispersion that has a simple process, a good balance of the various indicators in the system, is practical, and has a relatively high light transmittance.
[0006] It is with this in mind that the present disclosure has been devised. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0025] The technical solution of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the embodiments and examples. As those skilled in the art will understand, the described embodiments and examples are only for the purpose of illustrating the present disclosure, and do not limit the scope of the present disclosure. For those not specifying specific conditions, conventional conditions or conditions recommended by the manufacturer can be used. For those reagents or instruments used whose manufacturers are not specified, commercially available conventional products can be used.
[0026] In a first aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a zirconia monomer dispersion, which contains zirconia nanoparticles as raw materials, a monomer resin, a stabilizer, and a refractive index modifier, the mass fraction of the zirconia nanoparticles relative to the zirconia monomer dispersion being 50-75%, the mass of the stabilizer being 1-10% of the mass of the zirconia nanoparticles, and the mass of the refractive index modifier being 1-10% of the mass of the zirconia nanoparticles, and the monomer resin containing any one or a combination of at least two of phenoxybenzyl acrylate (PBA), 4-biphenylmethyl acrylate (BPMA), benzyl acrylate (BZA), and o-phenylphenoxyethyl acrylate (OPPEA).
[0027] In the present disclosure, the method of obtaining the zirconia nanoparticles is not limited, and commercially available ones may be used, or ones prepared by a preparation method commonly used in the art may be used.
[0028] Certain types of monomer resins have excellent dispersion capabilities for zirconia nanoparticles, do not require the involvement of an intermediate phase, and have a refractive index that matches that of the zirconia nanoparticles.
[0029] The zirconia monomer dispersion liquid uses zirconia nanoparticles as inorganic dispersion particles. On the one hand, the zirconia nanoparticles have a relatively small particle size, which can reduce the scattering of light of fine particles and increase the transmittance of the system; on the other hand, the refractive index of the zirconia nanoparticles can be well matched with the refractive index of the specific type of monomer resin according to the present disclosure, which can greatly reduce the scattering of light of the system, thereby increasing the transmittance of the system.
[0030] By adding a stabilizer, the zirconia nanoparticles are less likely to aggregate and have relatively good stability, which results in the system having a relatively high transmittance.
[0031] The refractive index modifier provides a higher degree of refractive index matching between the zirconia nanoparticles and the monomeric resin, which results in the overall system having a relatively high transmittance.
[0032] The amount of each raw material used in the zirconia monomer dispersion is limited.
[0033] The mass fraction of zirconia nanoparticles is typically, but non-limitingly, 50%, 52%, 54%, 56%, 58%, 60%, 62%, 64%, 65%, 66%, 68%, 70%, 72%, 74% or 75%.
[0034] The monomer resin is mainly used to disperse zirconia nanoparticles, and its amount should be such that the mass fraction of zirconia nanoparticles in the zirconia monomer dispersion is ensured to be 50 to 75%.
[0035] The amounts of the stabilizer and the refractive index adjusting agent added are calculated based on the mass of the zirconia nanoparticles.
[0036] The mass fraction of the stabilizer relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is typically, but not limited to, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, or 10%. If the mass fraction of the stabilizer relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is too low (lower than 1%), the system cannot be stabilized and the transmittance of the system cannot be increased, and if the mass fraction of the stabilizer relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is too high (higher than 10%), it affects the degree of matching of the refractive index of each component in the entire system, making it impossible to obtain the desired effect and resulting in increased costs.
[0037] The mass fraction of the refractive index adjuster relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is typically, but not limited to, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9% or 10%. If the mass fraction of the refractive index adjuster relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is too low (lower than 1%), it cannot play a role in adjusting the degree of matching of the refractive index of the system, and if the mass fraction of the refractive index adjuster relative to the zirconia nanoparticles is too high (higher than 10%), it may not be possible to obtain the desired effect, resulting in increased costs.
[0038] The zirconia monomer dispersion according to the present disclosure is prepared mainly from raw materials such as zirconia nanoparticles, monomer resin, stabilizer and refractive index adjuster. The use of zirconia nanoparticles as inorganic dispersion particles can reduce the scattering of light from fine particles, and therefore can increase the transmittance of the system. The addition of a stabilizer can increase the dispersibility and uniformity of the zirconia monomer dispersion, and the addition of a refractive index adjuster can make the refractive index of each raw material in the entire system more consistent, and therefore can increase the transmittance of the system. Due to the cooperative effect of each of the above raw materials, the zirconia monomer dispersion has relatively high stability and transmittance.
[0039] As an optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the average particle size of the zirconia nanoparticles is 1 to 20 nm. The particle size of the zirconia nanoparticles is, for example, 1 nm, 2 nm, 4 nm, 5 nm, 6 nm, 8 nm, 10 nm, 12 nm, 14 nm, 15 nm, 16 nm, 18 nm, or 20 nm, but is not limited thereto.
[0040] The average particle size of the specific zirconia nanoparticles can contribute to increasing the refractive index of the system.
[0041] In an alternative embodiment of the present disclosure, the structure of the stabilizer is: RX n wherein R is an anchor group and can produce an anchor effect with the zirconia nanoparticles, and X is a solvation group and can produce a solvation effect with the monomer resin.
[0042] R is any one or a combination of at least two selected from an alkyl group, a sulfonic acid group, a phosphoric acid group, an amide group, a carboxy group, a hydroxyl group, an aromatic ring, and a substituted aromatic ring.
[0043] X is any one or a combination of at least two selected from a polyether chain, an acrylic ester chain, a polyester chain and an alkyl chain.
[0044] n is an integer of 1 to 3, for example, 1, 2 or 3.
[0045] In an optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the stabilizer comprises any one or a combination of at least two of polyoxyethylene octylphenyl ether, polyoxyethylene fatty alcohol ether, tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (CAS number: 78-42-2), stearic acid amide, or 2-hydroxy-1-methylethyl acrylate.
[0046] By being specific about the types of R and X groups in the structure of the stabilizer, and the type of stabilizer, the stabilizer can interact better with the zirconia particles and the monomer resin to increase the transmittance of the system.
[0047] In an optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the structure of the refractive index modifier is AB m It is.
[0048] A is any one or a combination of at least two selected from a substituted or unsubstituted acryloyloxy group, an alkoxyl group, a carbon-carbon double bond, an alkyl group and a silyloxy group.
[0049] B is any one or a combination of at least two selected from a hydroxyl group, a carbonyl group, an ester group, a silicon carbon group, a carboxy group, and a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring.
[0050] m is an integer of 1 to 3, for example, 1, 2 or 3.
[0051] As an optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the refractive index adjuster includes any one or a combination of at least two of ethylene glycol ethyl ether, 4-(4-acryloyloxybutoxy)benzoic acid, and 3-(methacryloyloxy)propyltri(2-methoxyethoxy)silane (CAS number: 57069-48-4).
[0052] By specifically limiting the types of A group and B group in the structure of the refractive index adjuster and the type of the refractive index adjuster, the refractive index adjuster can be suitable for the entire organic / inorganic system, thereby making it possible to better adjust the refractive index of the system, suppress light scattering of the system, and increase the transmittance of the system.
[0053] In a second aspect of the present disclosure, there is further provided a method for preparing a zirconia monomer dispersion, comprising the steps of mixing zirconia nanoparticles with a monomer resin to perform a primary dispersion, and mixing with a stabilizer and a refractive index modifier to perform a secondary dispersion to obtain a zirconia monomer dispersion.
[0054] The preparation method includes first mixing zirconia nanoparticles with monomer resin to carry out primary dispersion, and then mixing with stabilizer and refractive index adjuster to carry out secondary dispersion. The preparation method is simple in process, does not require the involvement of intermediate phase in the entire dispersion process, greatly reduces the process steps, and can reduce costs.
[0055] As an optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the time of the primary dispersion is 30 to 90 minutes. The time of the primary dispersion is typically, but not limited to, 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes, 60 minutes, 70 minutes, 80 minutes, or 90 minutes.
[0056] In one optional embodiment of the present disclosure, the time for the secondary dispersion is 30 to 60 minutes. The time for the secondary dispersion is typically, but not limited to, 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes, or 60 minutes.
[0057] In one alternative embodiment of the present disclosure, both the primary dispersion and the secondary dispersion are carried out in a dispersion facility.
[0058] The dispersion equipment herein may be any equipment or technical means in the art that can disperse a material in a suitable medium in the form of relatively small droplets, including, but not limited to, mechanical stirring, magnetic stirring, ultrasound, homogenizers, colloid mills, and the like.
[0059] In a third aspect of the present disclosure, there is further provided an optical film, the optical film being prepared using the above-described zirconia monomer dispersion.
[0060] Due to the above-mentioned advantages of the zirconia monomer dispersion, the optical film prepared has good optical properties.
[0061] In a fourth aspect of the present disclosure, there is further provided a display, the display comprising the optical film described above.
[0062] Due to the advantages of the optical film described above, the display has good brightness and clarity.
[0063] The technical solution according to the present disclosure will be further described below with reference to examples and comparative examples. EXAMPLES
[0064] Example 1 This example provides a zirconia monomer dispersion, which includes zirconia nanoparticles as raw materials, a monomer resin, a stabilizer, and a refractive index adjuster.
[0065] The zirconia nanoparticles were prepared so that the average particle size was 10 nm, and the mass fractions of the zirconia nanoparticles relative to the zirconia monomer dispersion were 50%, 60%, and 75%, respectively. The monomer resin was phenoxybenzyl acrylate, the stabilizer was polyoxyethylene octylphenyl ether, and the amount of the stabilizer added was 5% of the mass of the zirconia nanoparticles. The refractive index adjuster was ethylene glycol ethyl ether, and the amount of the refractive index adjuster added was 5% of the mass of the zirconia nanoparticles.
[0066] The zirconia monomer dispersion according to this example was prepared by a preparation method including the following steps.
[0067] The zirconia nanoparticles were dispersed in the monomer resin using a dispersion device, and the dispersion was continued for 30 minutes to obtain a monomer pre-dispersion liquid.
[0068] A stabilizer and a refractive index adjuster were then added to the above monomer preliminary dispersion, and dispersion was continued for 30 minutes to obtain a zirconia monomer dispersion.
[0069] Examples 2 to 14 Zirconia monomer dispersions were provided in Examples 2 to 14. The specific compositions of these zirconia monomer dispersions are shown in Table 1. The method for preparing the zirconia monomer dispersions in Examples 2 to 14 was the same as that in Example 1.
[0070] Comparative Examples 1 to 7 Zirconia monomer dispersions were provided in Comparative Examples 1 to 7. Specific compositions of these zirconia monomer dispersions are shown in Table 1. The preparation method of the zirconia monomer dispersion liquids according to Comparative Examples 1 to 7 was the same as that of Example 1.
[0071] In addition, the amount of stabilizer added shown in Table 1 refers to the mass percentage of the stabilizer relative to the zirconia nanoparticles, the amount of refractive index adjuster added refers to the mass percentage of the refractive index adjuster relative to the zirconia nanoparticles, and the mass fraction of zirconia nanoparticles refers to the mass fraction of zirconia nanoparticles relative to the zirconia monomer dispersion.
[0072] The transmittance at a wavelength of 650 nm of the zirconia monomer dispersion liquid prepared in each of the Examples and Comparative Examples was measured using a UV-Visible Spectrophotometer (C-7100, manufactured by Qingdao Lantern Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd.). The specific measurement results are shown in Table 1.
[0073] [Table 1-1] [Table 1-2] [Table 1-3]
[0074] As can be seen from the data shown in Table 1, compared to Comparative Examples 1 to 4, in the Examples, both a stabilizer and a refractive index adjuster were added, so that the dispersion effect and the refractive index adjustment effect of the zirconia monomer dispersion were both superior to those of Comparative Examples 1 to 4, and therefore the transmittance of the monomer dispersion in the Examples was obviously higher than that of the Comparative Examples.
[0075] When the degree of refractive index matching between the monomer resin and the zirconia nanoparticles is relatively high, it can contribute to improving the transmittance of the system. In the present disclosure, the degree of refractive index matching between the zirconia nanoparticles and each of the monomer resins PBA, BPMA, BZA and OPPEA is obviously higher than the degree of refractive index matching between the zirconia nanoparticles and 2-EHA in Comparative Example 7, so the transmittance of the zirconia simplex dispersions prepared in Examples 1 to 4 was obviously higher than that of Comparative Example 7.
[0076] In Example 5, the amount of stabilizer and refractive index modifier added was 1 wt%, which was lower than the 5 wt% in Example 1, and the dispersion effect and refractive index adjustment effect of Example 5 were inferior to those of Example 1, so the transmittance of the monomer dispersion in Example 5 was lower than that of Example 1. In Example 6, the amount of stabilizer and refractive index modifier added was 10 wt%, which was higher than the 5 wt% in Example 1, and when the stabilizer and refractive index modifier were added at a high content, it affected the degree of matching of the refractive index of each component in the entire system, and thus affected the transmittance of the system, so that the transmittance of the monomer dispersion in Example 6 was lower than that of Example 1. As can be seen from the above, the amount of stabilizer and refractive index modifier used should be within an appropriate range, otherwise it will not only have a negative effect but also lead to an increase in costs. Comparative Examples 5 and 6 also show this point.
[0077] Although the present disclosure has been described with specific examples, modifications and variations may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure, and therefore, the claims are intended to cover all modifications and variations that fall within the scope of the present disclosure.
[0078] Industrial Applicability The zirconia monomer dispersion according to the present disclosure is prepared mainly from raw materials such as zirconia nanoparticles, monomer resin, stabilizer and refractive index adjuster. By using zirconia nanoparticles as inorganic dispersion particles, the scattering of light by fine particles can be reduced, and thus the transmittance of the system can be increased.
