Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a charging case for receiving an aerosol generating device, and in particular to a cover for a device holder portion of the charging case. The cover includes a storage volume for storing an item. [Background technology]

[0002] The charging case generally includes a pivotable opening configured to releasably hold the aerosol generating device with a cover (i.e., a charger door cover). Typically, the cover is a solid body that simply holds the aerosol generating device in the charger.

[0003] In some systems, the aerosol-generating device is configured to receive an aerosol-generating article that includes a solid aerosol-forming substrate, such as a collection of crimped tobacco sheets. In these systems, the device typically includes an atomizer that is arranged to heat the aerosol-forming substrate when the article is received in the device. The aerosol-generating article may also include a filter that is wrapped with the aerosol-forming substrate in the form of a rod, similar to a conventional cigarette. In other systems, the device is configured to receive a cartridge that includes an atomizer and a liquid aerosol-forming substrate. Such cartridges are often also referred to as cartomizers. A common type of atomizer used in cartomizers includes a coil of heater wire wrapped around an elongated core that is immersed in a liquid aerosol-forming substrate.

[0004] Some electrically operated aerosol generating systems include a case for releasably storing the aerosol generating device when not in use. Such a case can provide a degree of protection for the aerosol generating device and may also provide additional functions such as recharging and refilling the aerosol-forming substrate.

[0005] Cases for holding aerosol generating devices often include a housing that defines a narrow opening into which a user must insert the device. The narrow opening typically has a width similar to that of the aerosol generating device. A user inserting an aerosol generating device into these cases is generally required to closely align the aerosol generating device with the narrow opening and insert the device into the case, which can be difficult for the user, especially in low light conditions or when the user is moving.

[0006] It would be desirable to provide a solution for adapting the cover or charger door cover to provide functionality for a variety of different users of the charging case. It would be desirable to provide a charger door cover that can contain and optionally charge an aerosol generating device. Summary of the Invention
