Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition for weatherstrip materials and a weatherstrip using a molded article made of said composition. [Background technology]
[0002] Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) are used in various fields such as automobiles, home appliances, medicine, food, electric wires, and daily necessities. In the automobile field in particular, thermoplastic elastomers have attracted attention as an alternative material to vulcanized rubber, mainly from the viewpoints of productivity, low cost, freedom of design, weight reduction, and recyclability.
[0003] In particular, there is a trend for vulcanized rubber to be replaced by thermoplastic elastomers in weather strips, which are one type of automotive part. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a weather strip made of a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing an olefin-based rubber, a hydrogenated block copolymer, and a polyolefin-based resin other than the olefin-based rubber. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2016-113614 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] In recent years, with the diversification of automobile designs, there is an increasing need for composite members in which a molded body made of a thermoplastic elastomer composition and a molded body made of a crystalline ethylene-based resin are melt-bonded together in the design of weather strips. [0038] When the total mass of the thermoplastic elastomer composition is 100 parts by mass, the content of component (B) is preferably 1 to 15 parts by mass, more preferably 2 to 10 parts by mass, and particularly preferably 3 to 8 parts by mass.
[0039] 1.3.Component (C) The thermoplastic elastomer composition according to the present embodiment contains an olefin block copolymer (C) obtained by hydrogenating a block copolymer having a conjugated diene polymer block (c1) (hereinafter also referred to as "block (c1)") having a 1,2-vinyl bond content of 25 mol% or less at both ends and a conjugated diene polymer block (c2) (hereinafter also referred to as "block (c2)") having a 1,2-vinyl bond content of more than 25 mol% in the middle. Here, the block (c1) and the block (c2) are blocks before hydrogenation. It has been revealed that the thermoplastic elastomer composition according to the present embodiment, particularly by using the component (C) and the component (D) in combination, enables the production of a molded article (composite member) having both good adhesion to a thermoplastic elastomer adherend and good adhesion to a crystalline ethylene resin adherend.
[0040] In this specification, the term "1,2-vinyl bond content" refers to the content of 1,2-vinyl bonds among cis-1,4-bonds, trans-1,4-bonds, and 1,2-vinyl bonds, calculated by the Morello method using infrared absorption spectroscopy. The bond content refers to the 1,2-vinyl bond content of the polymer before hydrogenation.
[0041] The block (c1) is preferably a polymer block mainly composed of 1,3-butadiene. Here, "mainly composed of 1,3-butadiene" means that 90% by mass or more, preferably 95% by mass or more of all repeating units of the block (c1) are repeating units derived from 1,3-butadiene. From the viewpoint of suppressing a drop in the melting point of the crystals after hydrogenation and maintaining mechanical strength, the 1,2-vinyl bond content of the block (c1) is 25 mol% or less, preferably 20 mol% or less, and more preferably 15 mol% or less.
[0042] The number average molecular weight (Mn) of the block (c1) is preferably 25,000 to 650,000, more preferably 50,000 to 450,000. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 25,000 or more, the mechanical properties tend to be improved. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 650,000 or less, the processability tends to be improved. Note that the component (C) has the block (c1) at both ends, and the number average molecular weight (Mn) of the block (c1) means the sum of the number average molecular weights (Mn) of the blocks (c1) at both ends.
[0043] The block (c2) is a conjugated diene polymer block having a structural unit derived from a conjugated diene compound. Examples of the conjugated diene compound include 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene, 1,3-pentadiene, 2-methyl-1,3-pentadiene, 1,3-hexadiene, 4,5-diethyl-1,3-octadiene, 3-butyl-1,3-octadiene, and chloroprene. Among these, 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, and 1,3-pentadiene are preferred, and 1,3-butadiene is more preferred. The block (c2) may be composed of two or more types of monomer units.
[0044] The 1,2-vinyl bond content of the block (c2) is more than 25 mol%, preferably more than 25 mol% to 95 mol%, more preferably more than 25 mol% to 85 mol%. From the viewpoint of maintaining the flexibility of the component (C), the 1,2-vinyl bond content of the block (c2) is preferably more than 25 mol%.
[0045] The number average molecular weight (Mn) of the block (c2) is preferably 5,000 to 650,000, more preferably 20,000 to 550,000. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 5,000 or more, the mechanical properties tend to be improved. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 650,000 or less, the processability tends to be improved.
[0046] The block (c2) in the molecular structure of the component (C) may contain an aromatic vinyl polymer block. When the block (c2) contains an aromatic vinyl polymer block, the content of the aromatic vinyl polymer block is preferably 35% by mass or less, more preferably 30% by mass or less, and particularly preferably 25% by mass or less, from the viewpoint of maintaining low-temperature properties and flexibility, when the total repeating units of the block (c2) are taken as 100% by mass.
[0047] Examples of aromatic vinyl compounds that form the repeating unit of block (c2) in the molecular structure of component (C) include styrene, tert-butylstyrene, α-methylstyrene, p-methylstyrene, p-ethylstyrene, divinylbenzene, 1,1-diphenylstyrene, vinylnaphthalene, vinylanthracene, N,N-diethyl-p-aminoethylstyrene, vinylpyridine, etc. Among these, styrene is preferred.
[0048] When the total amount of the blocks (c1) and (c2) contained in the component (C) is taken as 100 parts by mass, the content of the block (c1) is preferably 5 to 90 parts by mass, and more preferably The content of block (c1) is preferably 10 to 80 parts by mass. When the content of block (c1) is 5 parts by mass or more, component (C) can easily exhibit relatively sufficient crystallinity compared to component (A), and the thermoplastic elastomer composition according to this embodiment tends to easily form a three-dimensional network structure not based on chemical crosslinking. On the other hand, when the content of block (c1) is 90 parts by mass or less, an excessive increase in hardness can be avoided. In this specification, the term "three-dimensional network structure" refers to a network structure formed in three dimensions by bonding the thermoplastic elastomer composition according to this embodiment without chemical crosslinking.
[0049] The olefin block copolymer before hydrogenation can be obtained by living anionic polymerization of an aromatic vinyl compound and a conjugated diene compound, or an aromatic vinyl compound and a conjugated diene compound and other monomers copolymerizable therewith, using an organic alkali metal compound as a polymerization initiator, in an inert organic solvent such as an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent such as pentane, hexane, heptane, octane, etc.; an alicyclic hydrocarbon solvent such as cyclopentane, methylcyclopentane, cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane, etc.; an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent such as benzene, xylene, toluene, ethylbenzene, etc. Note that the component (C) can be easily obtained by hydrogenating the obtained olefin block copolymer before hydrogenation.
[0050] Examples of the organic alkali metal compound used as a polymerization initiator include an organic lithium compound and an organic sodium compound. Among these, organic lithium compounds such as n-butyl lithium, sec-butyl lithium, and tert-butyl lithium are preferred. The amount of the organic alkali metal compound used is not particularly limited, but is usually 0.02 to 5 parts by mass, preferably 0.03 to 1.5 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the monomer.
[0051] The polymerization temperature is usually -10 to 150°C, preferably 0 to 120°C. The atmosphere of the polymerization system is preferably replaced with an inert gas such as nitrogen gas. The polymerization pressure is not particularly limited as long as it is within a pressure range sufficient to maintain the monomer and the solvent in a liquid phase. The method of feeding the monomer into the polymerization system is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include a method of feeding the monomer all at once, continuously, intermittently, or a combination thereof.
[0052] The olefin block copolymer before hydrogenation may be a copolymer in which molecular chains of a plurality of copolymers are bonded via coupling residues. Such a copolymer can be prepared by using a coupling agent for the block copolymer obtained by the above-mentioned method.
[0053] Examples of coupling agents that can be used include divinylbenzene, 1,2,4-trivinylbenzene, epoxidized 1,2-polybutadiene, epoxidized soybean oil, epoxidized linseed oil, benzene-1,2,4-triisocyanate, dimethyl oxalate, diethyl phthalate, diethyl terephthalate, diethyl carbonate, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, 1,4-bis(trichloromethyl)benzene, trichlorosilane, methyltrichlorosilane, methyldichlorosilane, butyltrichlorosilane, tetrachlorosilane, dimethyldichlorosilane, (dichloromethyl)trichlorosilane, hexachlorodisilane, tetraethoxysilane, tetrachlorotin, and 1,3-dichloro-2-propanone.
[0054] Component (C) can be obtained by partially or selectively hydrogenating the olefin block copolymer obtained as described above before hydrogenation. The hydrogenation method and reaction conditions are not particularly limited, and are usually carried out at 20 to 150°C under a hydrogen pressure of 0.1 to 10 MPa in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
[0055] The hydrogenation rate can be arbitrarily selected by changing the amount of hydrogenation catalyst, the hydrogen pressure during the hydrogenation reaction, the reaction time, etc. The hydrogenation catalyst is usually a compound containing any of the metals of Groups Ib, IVb, Vb, VIb, VIIb, and VIII of the Periodic Table, such as Ti, V, Compounds containing Co, Ni, Zr, Ru, Rh, Pd, Hf, Re, and Pt atoms can be used. Specifically, for example, metallocene compounds such as Ti, Zr, Hf, Co, Ni, Pd, Pt, Ru, Rh, and Re; supported heterogeneous catalysts in which metals such as Pd, Ni, Pt, Rh, and Ru are supported on simple substances such as carbon, silica, alumina, and diatomaceous earth; homogeneous Ziegler-type catalysts in which organic salts or acetylacetone salts of metal elements such as Ni and Co are combined with reducing agents such as organoaluminum; organometallic compounds or complexes such as Ru and Rh; and fullerenes and carbon nanotubes in which hydrogen is absorbed. Among them, metallocene compounds containing any of Ti, Zr, Hf, Co, and Ni are preferred in that they can be subjected to a hydrogenation reaction in an inert organic solvent in a homogeneous system. Furthermore, metallocene compounds containing any of Ti, Zr, and Hf are preferred. In particular, hydrogenation catalysts obtained by reacting a titanocene compound with an alkyl lithium are preferred because they are inexpensive and particularly useful industrially. The hydrogenation catalyst may be used alone or in combination of two or more. After hydrogenation, if necessary, the catalyst residue is removed, or a phenol-based or amine-based antiaging agent is added, and then component (C) is isolated. Component (C) can be isolated, for example, by a method of adding acetone or alcohol to a hydrogenated diene copolymer solution to cause precipitation, or by a method of pouring a hydrogenated diene copolymer solution into hot water under stirring and distilling off the solvent.
[0056] The hydrogenation rate of component (C) is preferably 80% or more, more preferably 90% or more, and particularly preferably 95 to 100%. When the hydrogenation rate is 80% or more, the thermal stability and durability tend to be improved.
[0057] The number average molecular weight (Mn) of component (C) is preferably 50,000 to 700,000, more preferably 100,000 to 600,000. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 50,000 or more, the heat resistance, strength, fluidity, and processability tend to be improved. When the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 700,000 or less, the fluidity, processability, and flexibility tend to be improved. Note that component (C) can be obtained, for example, by the method disclosed in JP-A-3-128957.
[0058] The melt flow rate of component (C), measured in accordance with JIS K7210 at a temperature of 230°C and a load of 21.2 N, is preferably 0.1 to 20 g / 10 min, more preferably 0.5 to 10 g / 10 min, and particularly preferably 1 to 5 g / 10 min, from the viewpoint of obtaining good adhesion to both thermoplastic elastomer adherends and crystalline ethylene resin adherends.
[0059] The density of component (C) measured in accordance with JIS K7112 is not particularly limited, but is preferably 0.85 g / cm 3 More than 0.95g / cm 3 More preferably, it is 0.86 g / cm or less. 3 More than 0.92g / cm 3 The following is the result.
[0060] A plurality of hydrogenated olefin block copolymers obtained as described above may be linked together via a coupling agent residue to be used as component (C). That is, component (C) is a copolymer of [(c1)-(c2)-(c1)]. n -X (wherein n is an integer of 3 or more, and X represents a coupling agent residue). Furthermore, as long as the molecular weight of the coupling agent residue is sufficiently small relative to the block (c1) and the block (c2) and does not affect the crystallinity of the component (C), the component (C) may be [(c1)-(c2)]. n -X (wherein n is an integer of 3 or more, and X represents a coupling agent residue).
[0061] Component (C) may also be a modified hydrogenated olefin block copolymer modified with a functional group. The functional group may be at least one selected from the group consisting of a carboxy group, an acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group, an epoxy group, a halogen atom, an amino group, an isocyanate group, a sulfonyl group, a sulfonate group, and an oxazoline group. The method can be a known method. The content of the functional group in this modified hydrogenated olefin block copolymer is preferably 0.01 to 10 mol%, more preferably 0.1 to 8 mol%, and particularly preferably 0.15 to 5 mol%, when the total repeating units constituting the modified hydrogenated olefin block copolymer are 100 mol%. Preferred monomers that can be used to introduce the functional group include acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, itaconic acid, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, glycidyl acrylate, glycidyl methacrylate, allyl glycidyl ether, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, hydroxypropyl methacrylate, hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxypropyl acrylate, and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate.
[0062] When the total mass of the thermoplastic elastomer composition is 100 parts by mass, the content of component (C) is preferably 4 to 50 parts by mass, more preferably 5 to 40 parts by mass, and particularly preferably 6 to 30 parts by mass.
[0063] 1.4.Component (D) The thermoplastic elastomer composition according to the present embodiment contains a crystalline ethylene-based resin (D). The raw material components are melt-kneaded by a melt-kneading method using a general mixer such as a Banbury mixer, a single-screw extruder, a twin-screw extruder, a kneader, a multi-screw extruder, or a roll.
[0081] 1.7. Uses of Thermoplastic Elastomer Compositions In recent years, with the diversification of automobile designs, the design of weather strips has become more and more complicated. There is an increasing need for a composite member in which a molded body made of a thermoplastic elastomer composition and a molded body made of a crystalline ethylene-based resin are melt-bonded together. Conventional thermoplastic elastomer compositions have excellent adhesion to molded bodies made of thermoplastic elastomer compositions, but their adhesion to molded bodies made of crystalline ethylene-based resins is insufficient. In particular, the heat resistance of the fusion zone between the molded body made of the thermoplastic elastomer composition and the molded body made of the crystalline ethylene-based resin is insufficient, and the fusion zone tends to be easily destroyed by heating.
[0082] In contrast, the thermoplastic elastomer composition according to the present embodiment can provide a molded article that has excellent adhesion to both thermoplastic elastomer adherends and crystalline ethylene-based resin adherends, and also has excellent heat resistance at the fused portion. Therefore, the thermoplastic elastomer composition according to the present embodiment is suitable for use as a material for producing weather strip materials.
[0083] 2. Weather stripping A weather strip according to one embodiment of the present invention uses a molded body made of the above thermoplastic elastomer composition. By using the above thermoplastic elastomer composition, a composite member in which a thermoplastic elastomer molded body and another molded body are bonded can be manufactured. Here, examples of the other molded body include a thermoplastic elastomer molded body and a crystalline ethylene resin molded body. The above composite member is not only excellent in weather resistance and cushioning properties, but also has excellent adhesion to other molded bodies and excellent heat resistance at the fusion joint, making it ideal for corner materials and terminal materials in particular.
[0084] The composite member can be produced by injection molding. Specifically, for example, the composite member can be produced by a method in which another molded body as described above is placed in a split mold for injection molding in advance, the thermoplastic elastomer composition is injected into the split mold by injection molding, and then cooled.
[0085] In this injection molding, a cylinder temperature of 200 to 270° C., an injection rate of 10 to 100 cc / sec, and a mold cooling temperature of 30 to 60° C. are preferred from the viewpoint of adhesion between the thermoplastic elastomer molded body and other molded bodies in the composite material.

[0098] From the evaluation results in Table 1 above, it was found that the thermoplastic elastomer compositions of Examples 1 to 5 provided joined bodies with excellent adhesion to both thermoplastic elastomer adherends and crystalline ethylene resin adherends, and also with excellent heat resistance at the fused joints. It was found that by using the thermoplastic elastomer composition in combination with component (D-1) and component (D-2) as the crystalline ethylene-based resin (D), a bonded product having superior adhesion to other molded bodies and superior heat resistance at the fused joints can be obtained.
[0099] The thermoplastic elastomer composition of Comparative Example 1 contains an olefin block copolymer (C') instead of component (C). Therefore, although it was bonded to a thermoplastic elastomer adherend and a crystalline ethylene resin adherend, the heat resistance was insufficient in both the fused portion with the thermoplastic elastomer adherend and the fused portion with the crystalline ethylene resin adherend.
[0100] The thermoplastic elastomer composition of Comparative Example 2 did not contain the component (C), and therefore the adhesion and heat resistance of the bonded body to the thermoplastic elastomer adherend were insufficient.
[0101] The thermoplastic elastomer composition of Comparative Example 3 did not contain the components (C) and (D), and therefore had insufficient adhesion and heat resistance in a bonded structure with a crystalline ethylene resin adherend.
[0102] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications are possible.
