DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0009] A preferred embodiment of the connection structure between a windshield with molding and a cowl louver according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following drawings, the same or similar components are described with the same reference numerals, and their description may be omitted if they are repeated. In this specification, the directions and positions of "up (U) / down (D)", "front (F) / rear (R)", "inside (In) / outside (Out)" and "left (Le) / right (Ri)" refer to the directions and positions when the components are installed on a vehicle.

[0010] (First embodiment) Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the present invention before assembling a windshield, a molding, and cowl louvers, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a connection structure between a windshield with molding and a cowl louver in a state where the cowl louvers are connected to the windshield with molding. Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the connection structure 1 between a windshield with molding and a cowl louver taken along line 3-3 in Fig. 2.

[0011] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the connecting structure 1 of a windshield with molding and cowl louvers in the first embodiment comprises a windshield with molding 10 including a windshield 12 and a molding 14, and cowl louvers 18.

[0012] 3, the windshield 12 is a front glass attached to a window frame (not shown) on the front side of the vehicle body, and is made of laminated glass 20. That is, the windshield 12 is made of laminated glass having a first glass plate 22 arranged on the exterior side of the vehicle, a second glass plate 24 arranged on the interior side of the vehicle, and an intermediate film 26 that bonds the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 together.

[0013] The material constituting the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 may be inorganic glass or organic glass. As the inorganic glass, for example, soda-lime glass, aluminosilicate glass, borosilicate glass, alkali-free glass, quartz glass, etc. may be used without any particular limitation. The first glass plate 22 arranged on the outside of the vehicle is preferably inorganic glass from the viewpoint of scratch resistance, and is preferably soda-lime glass from the viewpoint of formability. When the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 are soda-lime glass, clear glass, green glass containing a predetermined amount or more of iron components, and UV-cut green glass can be suitably used.

[0014] The inorganic glass may be either unstrengthened glass or tempered glass. Unstrengthened glass is obtained by forming molten glass into a plate shape and slowly cooling it. Tempered glass is obtained by forming a compressive stress layer on the surface of unstrengthened glass.

[0015] The tempered glass may be either physically tempered glass such as air-cooled tempered glass or chemically tempered glass. In the case of physically tempered glass, the glass surface can be tempered by generating a compressive stress layer on the glass surface due to the temperature difference between the glass surface and the inside of the glass by an operation other than slow cooling, such as rapidly cooling a glass sheet uniformly heated in bending from a temperature near the softening point.

[0016] In the case of chemically strengthened glass, for example, after bending, the glass surface can be strengthened by generating a compressive stress on the glass surface by an ion exchange method or the like. Glass that absorbs ultraviolet or infrared rays may be used, and further, although it is preferable that the glass is transparent, a glass plate that is colored to the extent that the transparency is not impaired may be used.

[0017] On the other hand, examples of materials for organic glass include transparent resins such as polycarbonate, acrylic resins such as polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, and polystyrene.

[0018] The shapes of the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 are not particularly limited to a rectangular shape, and may be processed into various shapes and curvatures. Gravity forming, press forming, roller forming, etc. are used for bending the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24. The forming method of the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 is also not particularly limited, but for example, in the case of inorganic glass, glass plates formed by a float method or the like are preferable.

[0019] The thickness of the first glass plate 22 at its thinnest portion is preferably 1.1 mm or more and 3 mm or less. When the thickness of the first glass plate 22 is 1.1 mm or more, the strength such as resistance to flying stones is sufficient, and when the thickness is 3 mm or less, the mass of the laminated glass 20 does not become too large, which is preferable in terms of fuel efficiency of the vehicle. The thickness of the first glass plate 22 at its thinnest portion is more preferably 1.8 mm or more and 2.8 mm or less, further preferably 1.8 mm or more and 2.6 mm or less, further preferably 1.8 mm or more and 2.2 mm or less, and further preferably 1.8 mm or more and 2.0 mm or less.

[0020] The thickness of the second glass plate 24 is preferably 0.3 mm or more and 2.3 mm or less. When the thickness of the second glass plate 24 is 0.3 mm or more, the second glass plate 24 is easy to handle, and when the thickness is 2.3 mm or less, the mass does not become too large.

[0021] When the laminated glass 20 is used in, for example, a head-up display, the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 do not have a constant thickness, and the thickness may vary from place to place as necessary. For example, either or both of the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 may have a wedge-shaped cross section whose thickness increases from the lower edge to the upper edge of the windshield when the windshield is attached to a vehicle. In this case, if the thickness of the interlayer film 26 is constant, the total wedge angle of the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 varies, for example, in the range of more than 0 mrad to 1.0 mrad or less.

[0022] A coating having a water-repellent function and an ultraviolet-ray or infrared-ray blocking function, or a coating having low reflection characteristics and low radiation characteristics may be provided on the outer side of the first glass plate 22 and / or the second glass plate 24. Furthermore, a coating having an ultraviolet-ray or infrared-ray blocking function, low radiation characteristics, visible light absorption, coloring, etc. may be provided on the side of the first glass plate 22 and / or the second glass plate 24 that contacts the intermediate film 26.

[0023] When the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 are made of curved inorganic glass, the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 are bent after being formed by a float method and before being bonded by the interlayer film 26. The bending is performed by softening the glass sheets by heating. The heating temperature of the glass sheets during bending is about 550°C to 700°C.

[0024] Thermoplastic resins are often used for the intermediate film 26, including, for example, thermoplastic resins that have been conventionally used for this type of application, such as plasticized polyvinyl acetal resins, plasticized polyvinyl chloride resins, saturated polyester resins, plasticized saturated polyester resins, polyurethane resins, plasticized polyurethane resins, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resins, ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer resins, cycloolefin polymer resins, ionomer resins, etc. Also suitable for use is a resin composition containing a modified hydrogenated block copolymer, as described in Japanese Patent No. 6065221.

[0025] Among these, plasticized polyvinyl acetal resins are preferably used because they have an excellent balance of various properties such as transparency, weather resistance, strength, adhesive strength, penetration resistance, impact energy absorption, moisture resistance, heat insulation, and sound insulation. These thermoplastic resins may be used alone or in combination of two or more. The term "plasticized" in the plasticized polyvinyl acetal resin means that it is plasticized by adding a plasticizer. The same applies to other plasticized resins.

[0026] However, when the light emitting device 15 is enclosed in the intermediate film 26, deterioration may occur due to a specific plasticizer depending on the type of the enclosed object, and in such a case, it is preferable to use a resin that does not substantially contain the plasticizer. In other words, it may be preferable that the intermediate film 13 does not contain a plasticizer. Examples of resins that do not contain a plasticizer include ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resins.

[0027] Examples of the polyvinyl acetal resin include polyvinyl formal resin obtained by reacting polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with formaldehyde, polyvinyl acetal resin in the narrow sense obtained by reacting PVA with acetaldehyde, and polyvinyl butyral resin (PVB) obtained by reacting PVA with n-butylaldehyde, and the like. In particular, PVB is preferred because it has an excellent balance of various properties such as transparency, weather resistance, strength, adhesive strength, penetration resistance, impact energy absorption, moisture resistance, heat insulation, and sound insulation. These polyvinyl acetal resins may be used alone or in combination of two or more kinds.

[0028] However, the material forming the intermediate film 26 is not limited to thermoplastic resin. The intermediate film 26 may also contain functional particles such as infrared absorbing agents, ultraviolet absorbing agents, and luminescent agents. The intermediate film 26 may also have a colored portion called a shade band (a colored portion having a function of reducing visible light transmittance). The color pigment used to form the colored portion is not particularly limited as long as it can be used for plastics and the colored portion has a visible light transmittance of 40% or less. For example, organic color pigments such as azo-based, phthalocyanine-based, quinacridone-based, perylene-based, perinone-based, dioxazine-based, anthraquinone-based, and isoindolino-based pigments, and inorganic color pigments such as oxides, hydroxides, sulfides, chromates, sulfates, carbonates, silicates, phosphates, arsenates, ferrocyanides, carbon, and metal powders may be used. These color pigments may be used alone or in combination of two or more. The amount of color pigment added is not particularly limited and may be any amount according to the desired color tone, so long as the visible light transmittance of the colored portion is 40% or less.

[0029] The thickness of the interlayer film 26 is preferably 0.5 mm or more at its thinnest part. If the thickness of the interlayer film 26 at its thinnest part is 0.5 mm or more, the impact resistance required for laminated glass is sufficient. Furthermore, the thickness of the interlayer film 26 is preferably 3 mm or less at its thickest part. If the thickness of the interlayer film 26 at its thickest part is 3 mm or less, the weight of the laminated glass does not become too large. The maximum thickness of the interlayer film 26 is more preferably 2.8 mm or less, and even more preferably 2.6 mm or less.

[0030] When the laminated glass 20 is used in, for example, a head-up display, the interlayer film 26 does not have to have a constant thickness, and the thickness may vary from place to place as necessary. For example, the interlayer film 26 may have a wedge-shaped cross section whose thickness increases from the lower edge to the upper edge of the windshield when the windshield is attached to a vehicle. In this case, if the sheet thicknesses of the first glass sheet 22 and the second glass sheet 24 are constant, the wedge angle of the interlayer film 26 varies, for example, in the range of more than 0 mrad to 1.0 mrad or less.

[0031] The interlayer film 26 may have three or more layers. For example, the sound insulation of the laminated glass 20 can be improved by forming the interlayer film from three or more layers and making the shear modulus of any layer other than the layers on both sides smaller than the shear modulus of the layers on both sides by adjusting the plasticizer or the like. In this case, the shear modulus of the layers on both sides may be the same or different.

[0032] The total thickness of the laminated glass 20 is preferably 2.8 mm or more and 10 mm or less. If the total thickness of the laminated glass 20 is 2.8 mm or more, sufficient rigidity can be ensured. If the total thickness of the laminated glass 20 is 10 mm or less, sufficient transmittance can be obtained and haze can be reduced.

[0033] To manufacture the laminated glass 20, an interlayer film 26 is sandwiched between a first glass plate 22 and a second glass plate 24 to form a laminate. Then, for example, this laminate is placed in a rubber bag, a rubber chamber, a resin bag, or the like, and bonded in a vacuum with a pressure of -65 to -100 kPa at a temperature of about 70 to 110°C. The heating conditions, temperature conditions, and lamination method are appropriately selected in consideration of the properties of the light emitting device 15, for example, so as not to cause deterioration during lamination.

[0034] Furthermore, for example, by performing a pressure bonding treatment in which heating and pressing are performed under conditions of a temperature of 100 to 150° C. and a pressure of 0.6 to 1.3 MPa, a laminated glass 20 with even better durability can be obtained. However, in some cases, this heating and pressing step may not be used in consideration of simplification of the process and the properties of the material to be filled in the laminated glass 20.

[0035] That is, a method called "cold bending" may be used in which either or both of the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24 are joined in a state in which they are elastically deformed relative to each other. Cold bending can be achieved by using a laminate consisting of the first glass plate 22, the second glass plate 24, and the interlayer film 26 fixed by a temporary fixing means such as tape, a conventionally known preliminary pressure bonding device such as a nip roller, a rubber bag, or a rubber chamber, and an autoclave.

[0036] In addition to the interlayer 26, a film or device having functions such as heating, infrared reflection, light emission, power generation, light control, touch panel, visible light reflection, scattering, decoration, and absorption may be provided between the first glass plate 22 and the second glass plate 24, as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired. Furthermore, the surface of the laminated glass 20 may have a film having functions such as anti-fogging, water repellency, heat shielding, and low reflection. Furthermore, the surface of the first glass plate 22 facing the vehicle exterior and the surface of the second glass plate 24 facing the vehicle interior may have a film having functions such as heat shielding and heat generation.

[0037] The cowl louvers 18 are plate-shaped members made of, for example, polypropylene injection moldings. The cowl louvers 18 are disposed between a hood (not shown) and the windshield 12, and extend in the width direction (left-right direction) of the vehicle along the lower end of the windshield 12. The cowl louvers 18 have a clamping portion 30 on the rear end side of the vehicle, the vertical cross section of which is U-shaped.

[0038] The molding 14 functions as a connecting member for connecting the clamping portion 30 of the cowl louvers 18 to the lower edge portion 12A of the windshield 12. The molding 14 extends in the width direction of the vehicle along the lower edge portion 12A of the windshield 12. The molding 14 is attached to the vehicle interior surface of the lower edge portion 12A of the windshield 12 via double-sided adhesive tape 16 (see FIG. 3).

[0039] 2, a windshield with molding 10 including a windshield 12 and a molding 14, and a cowl louver 18 are prepared. The molding 14 and the cowl louver 18 are fitted together at a clamping portion 30 of the cowl louver 18, and the cowl louver 18 is connected to the molding 14 of the windshield with molding 10. In this way, a connection structure 1 between the windshield with molding and the cowl louver is formed.

[0040] 3, the molding 14 includes a first molding portion 40, the upper surface of which is bonded to the interior side surface of the second glass plate 24, and a second molding portion 42 that is housed in the clamping portion 30 of the cowl louver 18 and extends from the first molding portion 40 to the front (F) of the vehicle. The second molding portion 42 has an engagement portion 44 that protrudes from the surface on the interior side (In) of the vehicle, and a front portion 46 that is located forward (F) of the engagement portion 44.

[0041] The interior side of the second glass plate 24 and the upper surface of the first molding portion 40 can be bonded together via double-sided adhesive tape 16. Instead of the double-sided adhesive tape 16, a known adhesive such as an acrylic resin-based, urethane resin-based, or epoxy resin-based adhesive can be used for bonding.

[0042] In the first embodiment, the first molding part 40 is made of a metal member having a thin plate shape, such as stainless steel or steel. The plate thickness of the metal member is, for example, 0.2 mm or more and 1.2 mm or less. The first molding part 40 has a curved part 40A that is folded back from its rear end side toward its front end side. The curved part 40A is what is called a hemming bend, and the first molding part 40 is reinforced by the curved part. The first molding part 40 extends toward the second molding part 42.

[0043] The second molding part 42 is made of a soft resin material such as an olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer (TPO), Alklyn (registered trademark: thermoplastic elastomer), PVC, etc. The hardness of the second molding part 42 (JIS K 6253 durometer type A hardness (hereinafter referred to as "hardness")) is preferably, for example, from 40 degrees to 70 degrees.

[0044] The engagement portion 44 preferably has a length of 90% or more of the length in the vehicle width direction (left-right direction) of the second molding portion 42. The engagement portion 44 may be continuous and 90% or more, or may have a separated portion, i.e., a discontinuous portion, and 90% or more.

[0045] In the first embodiment, a part of the metal member constituting the first molding part 40 extends to the side of the second molding part 42 and is bent towards the inside of the vehicle. An engagement part 44 is formed at the bent portion of the first molding part 40. A part of the first molding part 40 is housed in the clamping part 30 and constitutes the engagement part 44 as a part of the second molding part 42.

[0046] The first molding portion 40 of the molding 14 may be a roll-formed product continuously formed by roll forming. The second molding portion 42 of the molding 14 may be an extrusion-molded product continuously formed by extrusion molding. Therefore, the molding 14 can be formed by continuously forming the first molding portion 40 by roll forming, and continuously forming the second molding portion 42 on the roll-formed first molding portion 40 by extrusion molding. That is, the molding 14 may be a continuous molded product consisting of the first molding portion 40 which is a roll-formed product and the second molding portion 42 which is an extrusion-molded product. Since the engagement portion 44 has a length of 90% or more of the length in the vehicle width direction, the molding 14 can be continuously manufactured by roll forming and extrusion molding. In addition, when the first molding portion 40 is a metal member, the molding 14 can be made to follow a complex shape by deforming the first molding portion 40.

[0047] The clamping portion 30 of the cowl louver 18 includes a first clamping portion 32 exposed to the vehicle exterior side, and a second clamping portion 34 formed on the vehicle interior side of the cowl louver 18 and extending toward the rear (R) of the vehicle at a predetermined distance from the first clamping portion 32. The clamping portion 30 forms a U-shaped vertical cross section with the first clamping portion 32 and the second clamping portion 34. The vertical cross section means a cross section of the cowl louver 18 cut along a plane substantially perpendicular to the vehicle width direction.

[0048] The second clamping portion 34 has an engaged portion 36 that engages with the engaging portion 44 of the molding 14. The engaged portion 36 is capable of accommodating a portion of the engaging portion 44 and is composed of a plurality of through holes formed in the second clamping portion 34. The engaged portion 36 may be a groove formed in the second clamping portion 34 instead of a through hole, as long as it can accommodate a portion of the engaging portion 44.

[0049] 4, in the cowl louver 18, the first clamping portion 32 has a shape that extends continuously in the vehicle width direction. Similarly, it is preferable that the second clamping portion 34 has a shape that extends continuously in the vehicle width direction. Therefore, the clamping portion 30 has a shape that extends continuously in the vehicle width direction, and can function as a gutter when water enters from the outside of the vehicle.

[0050] 4, the engaged parts 36 are formed at intervals along the vehicle width direction in the clamping part 30. Since the engaged parts 36 are formed at intervals, the rigidity of the second clamping part 34 can be maintained. The distance between adjacent engaged parts 36 is preferably 50 mm or more and 2000 mm or less.

[0051] As shown in FIG. 4, the engaged portion 36 can be configured by a through hole 36A and a rib 36B formed in the front-rear direction relative to the through hole 36A.

[0052] Next, as shown in Figure 3, the clamping portion 30 has first and second contact regions 38 that are forward of the engaged portion 36 and contact at least a portion of the front portion 46 of the second molding portion 42, the interior side of the clamping portion 32, and the exterior side of the clamping portion 34.

[0053] In the first embodiment, the front portion 46 extends continuously in the vehicle width direction of the second molding portion 42, and is housed in the clamping portion 30 of the cowl louver 18. As shown in Fig. 3, the front portion 46 comes into contact with the interior side surface of the first clamping portion 32 to form a first contact area 38, and the front portion 46 comes into contact with the interior side surface of the second clamping portion 34 to form a second contact area 38.

[0054] Before the second molding portion 42 is accommodated in the clamping portion 30, the length of at least a portion of the vertical cross section of at least the front portion 46 is longer than the distance between the interior side surface of the first clamping portion 32 and the exterior side surface of the second clamping portion 34 in at least a portion of the first and second contact areas 38 (also referred to as the distance between the contact areas of the clamping portion 30). In the first embodiment, before being accommodated in the clamping portion 30, the front portion 46 has a substantially rectangular shape in vertical cross section.

[0055] In the longitudinal section of the first and second contact regions 38, the distance between the contact regions of the clamping portion 30 and the front portion 46 have the above-mentioned length relationship, so that pressure can be applied to the front portion 46 and the interior side surface of the first clamping portion 32 of the clamping portion 30 and the exterior side surface of the second clamping portion 34. Therefore, in the first and second contact regions 38, the front portion 46 and the clamping portion 30 come into contact with each other due to pressure, so that it is possible to prevent water from entering the interior of the vehicle from the outside.

[0056] 3, in the first and second contact regions 38, there are areas where the front portion 46 and the first clamping portion 32, and the front portion 46 and the second clamping portion 34 are in surface contact. By making surface contact, the distance between the first and second contact regions 38 becomes longer, and it is possible to increase the deterrent force that prevents water from entering the interior of the vehicle from the outside. The front portion 46 is deformed into a shape that follows the inner wall of the clamping portion 30.

[0057] There is a gap S between the front end of the second molding portion 42 and the inner wall of the clamping portion 30 formed by the vehicle interior side of the first clamping portion 32 and the vehicle exterior side of the second clamping portion 34. Because there is the gap S, even if water passes through the first contact area 38, the clamping portion 30 functions as a gutter, allowing the water to move to any desired location and be drained. It is desirable to locate the drain position at a position that avoids the wiper motor and other electronic components. The drain position can also be set at any desired position.
