Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE The present disclosure relates to vehicle subcomponents, and in particular to a sealing system for connecting a drainage device to a vehicle glazing. [Background technology]
[0002] To facilitate the drainage of water that runs off of a vehicle glazing (particularly a windshield) to the outside of the vehicle, thereby preventing damage to the vehicle's engine and other components, a sealing system (also called a "lower engaging strip") is commonly used in the prior art to connect the vehicle glazing to a drainage device (e.g., a water tank).
[0003] For example, patent CN1210172C discloses an irregular part used as a sealing system of a vehicle windshield, which includes a contact surface area for fixing to the lower edge of the windshield and an area with a hook-shaped cross-section; on the one hand, the vehicle window glass is fixed to this irregular part by gluing in this contact surface area, and on the other hand, the water tank is fixed to this irregular part by introducing a rib on the cover of the water tank into the above-mentioned area with the hook-shaped cross-section. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] However, since the drainage device (such as a water tank) generally has dimensional tolerances, during the installation process of introducing the drainage device into the sealing system, it is generally difficult or requires a large force to introduce the drainage device into the sealing system. In addition, there are many problems with the drainage device after installation, resulting in water leakage. [Means for solving the problem]
[0005]
[0005] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a sealing system for connecting a drainage device to a vehicle glazing that solves or at least partially solves the above-mentioned problems and other potential problems in conventional drainage device to sealing system installation processes.
[0006] Specifically, the present disclosure provides a sealing system 100 for connecting a drainage device 200 to a vehicle glazing 300, which includes: a fastening section 110 configured to be connected to the vehicle glazing 300; and an engaging section 120 configured to be removably connected to the drainage device 200, wherein the engaging section 120 includes a support 121, a resilient arm 122, and a transition section 123 connecting the support 121 and the resilient arm 122; wherein the sealing system 100 further comprises a positioning element 130 connected to the transition portion 123 and the support 121, the positioning element 130 being at least partially elastically deformable; Further, the positioning element 130 includes an elastic leg 131 connected to the transition portion 123 and an engagement head 132 connected to the support 121, the engagement head 132 having a cross section exhibiting a U-shape or V-shape, and the U-shape or the V-shape having an opening directed towards the support 121.
[0007] The basic idea is that when attaching / introducing the drainage device 200 into the engagement area 120 of the sealing system 100, the positioning element 130 is at least partially elastically deformable so that the engagement head 132 deforms and moves towards the direction of the U-shaped or V-shaped opening (e.g., the support 121), thereby allowing the drainage device 200 to be easily introduced into the sealing system 100.
[0008] After the drainage device rib 210 is fully introduced into the sealing system 100, the protrusions at the free ends of the ribs exceed the engagement head 132, which relatively reduces the force acting on the engagement head 132, so that the engagement head 132 can partially bounce back and abut the drainage device rib 210, thereby fixing the drainage device 200 to the sealing system. At this time, the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 of the engagement head 132, which has a U-shaped or V-shaped cross section and extends in the length direction of the sealing system 100 (i.e., in the direction perpendicular to the paper), are both located on the rib 210. In order to pull out the drainage device rib 210 from the sealing system, it is necessary to simultaneously overcome the resistance of the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 on the rib 210, which obviously requires a larger force.
[0009] In summary, the design of the present disclosure makes it easier to attach the drainage device to the sealing system and requires more force to pull the drainage device out of the sealing system, thereby allowing the drainage device to remain on the sealing system even after extended periods of crashing and use.
[0010] It should be understood that this summary is not intended to determine key or essential features of the embodiments of the present disclosure, nor is it intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. [0014] The present disclosure is further described below with reference to the following embodiments so that those skilled in the art can fully understand the present disclosure, but it should be understood that the description of these embodiments is only to enable those skilled in the art to better understand and implement the subject matter described herein, and is not limited to the scope, applicability, or embodiments described in the claims. It should be understood that various features can be omitted, substituted, or added according to the needs of these embodiments without departing from the protective scope of the present disclosure. Moreover, the features described in some embodiments can be combined in other embodiments.
[0015] In this disclosure, the term "including" and its various variations should be interpreted as an open term meaning "including but not limited to." The term "embodiment" should be interpreted as "at least one embodiment." The term "other embodiment" should be interpreted as "at least one other embodiment." Unless expressly stated, other terms appearing herein but not mentioned should not be construed or defined in a manner that is inconsistent with the concepts on which the embodiments of the present disclosure are based.
[0016] The following will first introduce, with reference to FIG. 1, a cross-sectional view of an uninstalled sealing system 100 configured to connect a drainage device 200 to a vehicle glazing 300 according to the present disclosure. The length of the sealing system 100 refers to the length extending in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, and is substantially the same as the length of the bottom edge of the drainage device 200 and the vehicle glazing 300. It should be understood that the length of the sealing system 100 may be longer or shorter than the length of the bottom edge of the vehicle glazing 300 without departing from the principle and spirit of the present disclosure. Furthermore, although some specific elements are shown herein, it should be understood that a person skilled in the art may add one or more elements thereto, delete one or more elements therefrom, or replace one or more elements with other elements without departing from the principle and spirit of the present disclosure.
[0017] 1, a sealing system 100 according to the present disclosure includes a fastening section 110 configured to be connected to a vehicle glazing 300. The fastening section 110 can be connected to the vehicle glazing 300 via an adhesive layer 400. The adhesive layer 400 is preferably an adhesive film or an adhesive strip (e.g., double-sided tape) applied to the fastening section 110.
[0018] The sealing system 100 according to the present disclosure further includes an engagement section 120 configured to be removably connected to a drainage device 200. The drainage device 200 has elastic ribs 210 via which the drainage device 200 can be secured to the sealing system 100.
[0019] The aforementioned engagement area 120 includes a support 121, a resilient arm 122, and a transition section 123 connecting the support 121 and the resilient arm 122. As shown in Fig. 1, the support 121 has a cross section exhibiting a substantially T-shape or L-shape, and is disposed between the drainage device 200 and the vehicle window glass 300 after installation. The free end of the resilient arm 122 has a cross section exhibiting a hook shape or an inverted L-shape, and the specific geometric structure of the free end can be adjusted according to the shape of the rib 210 of the drainage device. The size of the opening between the resilient arm 122 and the support 121 can also be adjusted according to the size of the rib 210 of the drainage device.
[0020] The sealing system 100 further includes a positioning element 130 connected to the transition portion 123 and the support 121, the positioning element 130 being at least partially elastically deformable. The groove portion formed by the positioning element 130 and the elastic arm 122 is referred to as a positioning groove 124, and the groove portion formed by the positioning element 130 and the support 121 is referred to as a hollow groove 125.
[0021] The structure of the sealing system 100 has been briefly introduced above. The drainage device 200 is fixed to the sealing system 100 by the material and geometric design of the components of the engagement area 120. Here, the design of the positioning element 130 is particularly important, since it is very important for whether the drainage device can be easily installed and to ensure a safe connection between the drainage device and the sealing system.
[0022] As described above, the positioning element 130 is at least partially elastically deformable. Furthermore, the positioning element 130 includes a resilient leg 131 connected to the transition portion 123 and an engagement head 132 connected to the support 121, the engagement head (132) having a cross section exhibiting a U-shape or V-shape, and the U-shape or V-shape has an opening directed towards the support 121.
[0023] As shown in FIG. 2, based on the material and geometric properties of the positioning element 130, especially the material and geometric properties of the engagement head 132, when the drainage device 200 is attached / introduced into the engagement area 120 of the sealing system 100, the positioning element 130 is at least partially elastically deformed, so that under the action of a force acting on the rib 210 in the direction of R1, the engagement head 132 deforms and moves toward the opening direction of the U-shape or V-shape, thereby allowing the drainage device 200 to be easily introduced into the sealing system 100.
[0024] After the drainage device rib 210 is fully attached to the sealing system 100, the protrusions at the free ends of the ribs exceed the engagement head 132, which relatively reduces the force acting on the engagement head 132, so that the engagement head 132 can partially bounce back and abut the drainage device rib 210, thereby fixing the drainage device 200 to the sealing system 100. At this time, the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 of the engagement head 132, which has a U-shaped or V-shaped cross section and extends in the length direction of the sealing system 100 (i.e., in the direction perpendicular to the paper), are both disposed on the rib 210. In order to pull out the drainage device rib 210 from the sealing system, it is necessary to simultaneously overcome the resistance of the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 on the rib 210, which obviously requires a larger force.
[0025] Tests have shown that in some embodiments according to the present disclosure, the maximum insertion force F required during the installation process to insert the ribs 210 of the drainage device into the locating grooves 124 and secure the drainage device 200 to the sealing system 300 is Insertion is less than 2N, and the maximum extraction force F required to pull the drainage device rib 210 out of the sealing system 300 Extraction In some preferred embodiments, the maximum insertion force F Insertion is less than 1.5N, and the maximum extraction force F Extraction is greater than or equal to 3N and less than or equal to 5N.
[0026] Therefore, based on the above design, it is easy to install the drainage device into the sealing system, which can greatly shorten the installation time of the worker and improve the production efficiency; although a larger force is required to pull out the ribs of the drainage device, this allows the drainage device to remain in the sealing system even after a long period of collision and use, and improves the stability of the product.
[0027] Of course, although some specific shapes of the cross section of the engagement head 132 (i.e., U-shaped or V-shaped) are shown herein, this is not intended to limit the scope of protection of the present disclosure, and it should be understood that other suitable shapes are also applicable without departing from the principle and spirit of the present disclosure. For example, in some alternative embodiments, the cross section of the engagement head 132 may be W-shaped or other similar shapes having a protruding curved structure. In some other embodiments, one end of the engagement head 132 is connected to one end of the elastic leg 131, and the cross section of the positioning element 130 generally exhibits a barb-shape.
[0028] In order to promote running water flowing off the vehicle window glass and onto the drainage device 200, the geometric design of the sealing system 100 satisfies the following: after the drainage device 200 is attached to the sealing system 100, the drainage device 200, the vehicle window glass 300 and the sealing system 100 have flush outer surfaces.
[0029] In order to better understand the principle of engagement between the ribs 210 of the drainage device and the positioning elements 130 of the sealing system, FIG. 3 further shows a detailed enlarged view of zone Z of FIG.
[0030] As shown in Fig. 3, the rib 210 of the drainage device has a lead-in surface 211 located at the lower edge of the longitudinal edge of the rib and an engagement surface 212 located at the upper edge of the longitudinal edge of the rib. The engagement head 132 of the positioning element 130 has a joint guide surface 133 located at the upper edge of the longitudinal edge of the engagement head (132) and an engagement surface 134 located at the lower edge of the longitudinal edge of the engagement head 132. When the rib 210 of the drainage device is introduced downward into the positioning groove 124, the lead-in surface 211 of the rib 210 first comes into contact with the joint guide surface 133 of the engagement head 132 and presses the engagement head 132 laterally, so that the engagement head 132 is deformed and moves towards the support 121. After the rib 210 of the drainage device is fully introduced into the positioning groove 124, the engagement surface 134 of the deformed engagement head 132 is adjacent to the engagement surface 212 of the rib 210 of the drainage device, so that the drainage device 200 can be fixed to the sealing system 100. Conversely, when the drainage device 200 is removed from the sealing system 100, the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 of the engagement head 132 with a U-shaped or V-shaped cross section extending in the length direction of the sealing system 100 are both located on the engagement surface 212 of the rib 210, so that in order to pull out the rib 210 of the drainage device from the sealing system 100, it is necessary to simultaneously overcome the resistance of the first side 1321 and the second side 1322 on the rib 210, which obviously requires a larger force. It should be understood that, although exemplary cross-sectional shapes (e.g., inclined surfaces) of the lead-in surface 211 and the engagement surface 212 of the rib 210 of the drainage device and the joint guide surface 133 and the engagement surface 134 of the engagement head 132 of the positioning element are shown in Figures 1 to 3, this is not intended to limit the scope of protection of the present disclosure. Any other suitable shapes are possible without departing from the principles and spirit of the present disclosure. For example, in some alternative embodiments, the lead-in surface 211 and the engagement surface 212 of the rib 210 of the drainage device and the joint guide surface 133 and the engagement surface 134 of the engagement head 132 of the positioning element may present curved surfaces.
[0031] 1 and 2, in order to compensate for the dimensional tolerance of the drainage device 200, the sealing system according to the present disclosure may further comprise a sealing element 140 on the support 121. This can avoid the water leakage problem caused by an excessively large gap between the support 121 of the sealing system and the drainage device, and also avoid the difficult installation problem caused by an excessively small gap between them. This makes the sealing system of the present disclosure more widely applicable.
[0032] The sealing element 140 is at least partially elastic and can be at least partially elastically deformed. In some specific embodiments, the sealing element 140 is made of an elastic material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). In some specific embodiments, the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) includes a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and / or a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). Furthermore, the above material selection is also beneficial for reducing wind noise generated between the sealing system and the vehicle window glass during operation of the vehicle.
[0033] It should also be understood that, without departing from the principles and spirit of the present disclosure, the sealing element 140 may be a solid or hollow body, and the sealing element 140 may be connected to the support 121 of the sealing system via the contact surface 141 or they may be integrally formed.
[0034] In order to promote running water flowing down from the vehicle window glass into the drainage device 200, the geometric design of the support 121 and the sealing element 140 satisfies the following: after the drainage device 200 is attached to the sealing system 100, the vehicle window glass 300, the sealing element and the drainage device have substantially flush outer surfaces.
[0035] As described above, in accordance with the sealing system of the present disclosure, the positioning element 130 is at least partially elastic and can be at least partially elastically deformed. In some specific embodiments, the positioning element 130 is made of an elastic material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). In some specific embodiments, the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) includes a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and / or a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV).
[0036] Except for the above-mentioned positioning element 130 and sealing element 140, the other sections and / or elements of the sealing system may be made of relatively hard materials (such as thermoplastic or thermosetting materials). For example, the fixing section 110 and the engagement section 120 are made of one or a combination of the following materials: polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic (ABS), polyurethane (PU), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM).
[0037] Also, as shown in Fig. 4, there is usually a certain distance between the sealing system and the sheet metal of the vehicle body. In order to secure the sealing system 100 to the vehicle body, in some embodiments, the fixing section 110 of the sealing system according to the present disclosure further includes a support rib 111 on the side away from the glass. Similar to the materials of the fixing section 110 and the engagement section 120 described above, the support rib 111 can be made of one or a combination of the following materials: polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic (ABS), polyurethane (PU), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM).
[0038] Further, in some embodiments, a buffer portion 112 is further provided at the end of the support rib 111 remote from the fixed region 110. Similarly, the engagement region 120 also includes a buffer portion 112 at the side of the transition portion 123 remote from the positioning element 130. Similar to the materials of the positioning element 130 and the sealing element 140 described above, the buffer portion 112 is made of an elastic material such as a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). In some specific embodiments, the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) includes a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and / or a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). The arrangement of the buffer portion 112 can provide buffering and shock absorption between the sealing system 100 and the sheet metal of the vehicle body, and reduce noise caused by vibrations of the vehicle body.
[0039] In some preferred embodiments, the fixing area 110 and the engagement area 120 further include a reinforcing insert 150 comprising a metal, an organic polymer, or a synthetic material. In some embodiments, the metal reinforcing insert is, for example, an aluminum strip or a steel strip. The provision of the reinforcing insert can further improve the stability of the fixing area 110 and the engagement area 120.
[0040] The sealing system according to the present disclosure can be manufactured by extrusion. In some embodiments, the sealing system can be formed in one go by extrusion. In some embodiments, the fastening area 110, the engagement area 120 and / or the support rib 111 made of a material with a relatively high hardness can be formed first by extrusion, and then the positioning element 130, then the sealing element 140 and / or the cushioning portion 112 made of a material with a relatively low hardness can be formed by secondary extrusion.
[0041] It should be understood that the above detailed embodiments of the present disclosure are only for illustrating or explaining the principles of the present disclosure, rather than limiting the present disclosure. Therefore, any modifications, equivalent replacements and improvements made within the spirit and principles of the present disclosure shall be included in the scope of protection of the present disclosure.
