[Figure 9] Schematic diagram showing the internal configuration of a rotating electric machine DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0008] --First embodiment-- A first embodiment of a drive unit will be described below with reference to FIGS.

[0009] FIG. 1 is an external view of a drive unit 100 according to the present invention. In this embodiment, in order to clearly show the correlation between the drawings, mutually orthogonal X, Y and Z axes are defined. The drive unit 100 includes a rotating electric machine 200, a power converter 300, and a gear 400. As shown in FIG. 1, the power converter 300 is adjacent to the positive side of the Z axis with respect to the rotating electric machine 200, and the gear 400 is adjacent to the positive side of the Y axis with respect to the rotating electric machine 200. The power converter 300 converts input electric power and outputs it to the rotating electric machine 200. The rotating electric machine 200 generates rotational kinetic energy using electric power and outputs it to the gear 400. The gear 400 converts angular velocity at a predetermined magnification.

[0010] The drive unit 100 includes a first flow path inlet 381 for introducing the refrigerant into the drive unit 100, and a second flow path outlet 283 for discharging the refrigerant from the drive unit 100. The first flow path inlet 381 is provided in the power converter 300, and the second flow path outlet 283 is provided in the rotating electric machine 200. In this embodiment, since the refrigerant is introduced into the power converter 300 first, i.e., first, in the drive unit 100, the flow path of the refrigerant formed inside the power converter 300 is called the first refrigerant flow path 382. Similarly, the flow path of the refrigerant formed inside the rotating electric machine 200, into which the refrigerant is introduced second, is called the second refrigerant flow path 282.

[0011] 2 is an exploded perspective view of the drive unit 100. The power converter 300 includes a power terminal 310 for transmitting electric power to the rotating electric machine 200, a groove 330 and a cover 340 for forming a coolant flow path, and a first flow path outlet 383 for the coolant in the power converter 300. The coolant flows through a first coolant flow path 382 formed by the groove 330 and the cover 340, thereby cooling the components mounted on the power converter 300. Note that the connection surface where the power converter 300 is connected to the rotating electric machine 200, i.e., the surface on the negative side of the Z axis, has been removed, and the power converter 300 has an integrated structure in which the wall surface is shared with the rotating electric machine 200.

[0012] The rotating electric machine 200 includes an outer housing 210 that serves as an outer shell, an inner housing 220 through which a refrigerant flows on the outside, a seal member 230 that is assembled to the inner housing 220 and prevents the refrigerant from leaking to the outside, a terminal connection portion 240 that is connected to power terminals 310, a top cover 250, and a second flow path inlet 281 that is an inlet for the refrigerant. The inner housing 220, the seal member 230, and the terminal connection portion 240 are housed inside a closed space formed by the outer housing 210 and the top cover 250.

[0013] Inner housing 220 has a generally cylindrical shape with an axis parallel to the Y axis, and has a spiral protrusion 221 on its outer periphery. By storing inner housing 220 in outer housing 210, a space, which will be described below, is formed on the outer periphery of inner housing 220. That is, a space is formed with the cylindrical outer periphery, which is the surface of inner housing 220, as the bottom surface, protrusion 221 as the left and right walls, and outer housing 210 as the top surface. This space is second refrigerant flow path 282, which will be described later.

[0014] Seal member 230 has a ring shape, and is disposed on the outer periphery of inner housing 220 and on the negative side of the Y axis. Seal member 230 prevents refrigerant from entering the negative side of the Y axis beyond seal member 230 inside outer housing 210. When inner housing 220 is housed in outer housing 210, the outer periphery of seal member 230 comes into contact with the outer periphery of outer housing 210 in the radial direction.

[0015] The second flow passage inlet 281 is connected to the first flow passage outlet 383 when the rotating electric machine 200 and the power conversion device 300 are assembled. Therefore, the coolant moves from the power conversion device 300 to the rotating electric machine 200 without passing through the outer periphery of the drive unit 100. That is, the coolant flows in the drive unit 100 in the following order. The coolant first enters the power conversion device 300 from the first flow passage inlet 381 and cools the inside of the power conversion device 300, and then enters the inside of the rotating electric machine 200 via the first flow passage outlet 383 and the second flow passage inlet 281. The coolant that has cooled the inside of the rotating electric machine 200 is discharged from the second flow passage outlet 283.

[0016] 3 is a plan view of the drive unit 100. The YZ plane passing through approximately the center of the thickness of the drive unit 100 in the X-axis direction is indicated by dashed line IV-IV, and the YZ plane passing further in the positive direction of the X-axis is indicated by dashed line VV.

[0017] Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along line IV-IV in Fig. 3. As shown in Fig. 4, a plane parallel to the XZ plane including seal member 230 is called a virtual plane 130. The area on the negative side of the Y axis from virtual plane 130 is called a "first space", and the area on the positive side of the Y axis from virtual plane 130 is called a "second space". The first space is a section through which refrigerant does not flow, and the second space is a section through which refrigerant flows. Power terminal 310 is disposed on the first space side.

[0018] Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the VV cross section in Fig. 3. Fig. 5 shows the first flow path outlet 383 and the second flow path inlet 281, which are not shown in Fig. 4. The flow path of the refrigerant including the first flow path outlet 383 and the second flow path inlet 281 is approximately parallel to the Z axis, and the flow path is formed so as to reduce pressure loss. The first flow path outlet 383 and the second flow path inlet 281 are disposed on the positive side in the Y direction from the imaginary plane 130, that is, in the second space. The second flow path outlet 283 from which the refrigerant is discharged is shown in the lower right of Fig. 5.

[0019] The refrigerant flowing in from the second flow path inlet 281 cools the rotating electric machine 200 while flowing in the positive direction of the Y axis through a second refrigerant flow path 282 formed in a spiral shape on the outer periphery of the inner housing 220, and is discharged from a second flow path outlet 283. The first flow path outlet 383 and the second flow path inlet 281 are disposed in the second space and in the vicinity of the imaginary plane 130.

[0020] 6 is a plan view of outer housing 210. An outer circumferential seal groove 270 and a flow path connection port seal groove 280 are arranged on the connection surface between rotating electric machine 200 and power converter 300. Flow path connection port seal groove 280 is formed to surround second flow path inlet 281. By inserting flow path connection port seal 280S into flow path connection port seal groove 280, the refrigerant flowing through second flow path inlet 281 and first flow path outlet 383 facing second flow path inlet 281 is prevented from flowing outside the flow path.

[0021] The outer periphery seal groove 270 is formed to surround the outer periphery of the opening on the positive side of the Z direction of the outer housing 210. An outer periphery seal 270S is inserted into the outer periphery seal groove 270. The outer periphery seal 270S brings the rotating electric machine 200 and the power conversion device 300 into close contact with each other, and prevents liquid from entering the drive unit 100 from the joint between the rotating electric machine 200 and the power conversion device 300. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the outer periphery seal groove 270 and the flow path connection port seal groove 280 are integrated, and the outer periphery seal 270S and the flow path connection port seal 280S are integrated. This allows the number of parts to be reduced, and the number of assembly steps to be reduced.

[0022] 7 is a side view of the drive unit 100. The dashed area in FIG.

[0023] Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VIII-VIII in Fig. 7. Power conversion device 300 includes power terminals 310 that transmit power to rotating electric machine 200, a power module 351 that converts power, a smoothing capacitor 352 that smoothes the voltage waveform, and an EMC module 353 for electromagnetic noise countermeasures. Power terminals 310, power module 351, smoothing capacitor 352, and EMC module 353 are housed in a power conversion device case 390.

[0024] The area surrounded by the dashed line in FIG. 8 is a seal projection area 380 obtained by projecting the seal member 230 attached to the inner housing 220 onto the power converter 300. In other words, the seal projection area 380 is an area obtained by projecting the seal member 230 in the Z-axis direction. The power module 351 is disposed at a position closer to the first flow path inlet 381 than the seal projection area 380. The first refrigerant flow path 382 is from the first flow path inlet 381 to the first flow path outlet 383, and the first flow path outlet 383 is a straight flow path in the vicinity of the seal projection area 380 and immediately before the first flow path outlet 383 as shown in FIG. 5, which is substantially parallel to the Z-axis. Therefore, by disposing the power module 351 at a position closer to the first flow path inlet 381 than the seal projection area 380, the overall length of the first refrigerant flow path 382 is shortened, and pressure loss can be reduced.

[0025] The first refrigerant flow path 382 is formed so that the order of flow of the refrigerant, i.e., the order of cooling, is the smoothing capacitor 352, the EMC module 353, and the power module 351, or the EMC module 353, the smoothing capacitor 352, and the power module 351. The smoothing capacitor 352 and the EMC module 353 have lower heat resistance and dissipate less heat than the power module 351, and are therefore cooled first.

[0026] The smoothing capacitor 352 and the EMC module 353 are disposed along the wall surface of the power conversion device case 390, i.e., on the outer periphery of the power conversion device 300. The power module 351 is disposed inside the smoothing capacitor 352 and the EMC module 353, i.e., on the inner periphery of the power conversion device 300. Since the smoothing capacitor 352 and the EMC module 353, which should come into contact with the refrigerant first, are disposed on the outer periphery, there is a high degree of freedom in the arrangement of the first flow path inlet 381.

[0027] FIG. 9 is a schematic diagram showing the internal configuration of the rotating electric machine 200. A stator 293 and a rotor 294 are included inside an inner housing 220 of the rotating electric machine 200. The rotor 294 rotates about an axis ax parallel to the Y axis. The stator 293 includes a stator core 291 and a coil 292. The stator core 291 has a hollow cylindrical shape and has a through hole parallel to the Y axis. The rotor 294 is inserted into this through hole. The coil 292 is wound around the stator core 291, and may protrude from the stator core 291 in the Y direction as shown in FIG. 9.

[0028] In Fig. 9, the smallest value of the Y coordinate of the stator core 291 is called "y1" and the largest value of the Y coordinate of the stator core 291 is called "y2". In Fig. 9, reference numeral 281-1 indicates a preferred position of the second flow passage inlet 281, and reference numeral 281-2 indicates an unpreferred position of the second flow passage inlet 281. In Fig. 9, reference numeral 283-1 indicates a preferred position of the second flow passage outlet 283, and reference numeral 283-2 indicates an unpreferred position of the second flow passage outlet 283. The Y coordinate value of reference numeral 281-1 is smaller than "y1", and the Y coordinate value of reference numeral 281-2 is larger than "y1". The Y coordinate value of reference numeral 283-1 is larger than "y2", and the Y coordinate value of reference numeral 283-2 is smaller than "y2".

[0029] In the stator 293, the stator core 291 dissipates more heat than the coil 292. Therefore, it is preferable that the section in the second refrigerant flow passage 282 where the refrigerant flows, i.e., the section between the second flow passage inlet 281 and the second flow passage outlet 283, covers all of the side surfaces of the stator core 291. To achieve this, it is preferable that the second flow passage inlet 281 is disposed at the position indicated by the reference symbol 281-1, and the second flow passage outlet 283 is disposed at the position indicated by the reference symbol 283-1. For example, when the second flow passage inlet 281 is disposed at the position indicated by the reference symbol 281-2, or when the second flow passage outlet 283 is disposed at the position indicated by the reference symbol 283-2, the refrigerant does not flow on some of the side surfaces of the stator core 291, and the stator core 291 cannot be sufficiently cooled.

[0030] As described above, the first space and the second space are separated by the seal member 230, and the second flow path inlet 281 is disposed in the second space through which the refrigerant passes. Therefore, it is an essential condition that the Y coordinate value of the second flow path inlet 281 is larger than that of the seal member 230.

[0031] According to the above-described first embodiment, the following advantageous effects can be obtained. (1) The drive unit 100 includes a rotating electric machine 200 including a rotor 294 and a stator 293 and having a rotation axis parallel to a first direction, i.e., the Y axis, and a power converter 300 that outputs AC power to the rotating electric machine 200. The rotating electric machine 200 and the power converter 300 are arranged side by side in a second direction perpendicular to the Y axis direction, i.e., the X axis direction. The power converter 300 includes a first flow passage inlet 381 that takes in a refrigerant from the outside, a first refrigerant flow passage 382 that cools the power converter 300 using the refrigerant, a first flow passage outlet 383 that is a supply port that supplies the refrigerant from the power converter 300 to the rotating electric machine 200, and a power terminal 310 that supplies power to the rotating electric machine 200. The first flow passage outlet 383 opens in the X axis direction, and the power terminal 310 extends in the X axis direction. The rotating electric machine 200 includes a second refrigerant flow path 282 through which a refrigerant flows to cool the rotating electric machine 200, a second flow path inlet 281 connected to a first flow path outlet 383 and introducing the refrigerant into the second refrigerant flow path 282, and a terminal connection part 240 to which a power terminal 310 is connected. The second flow path inlet 281 opens in the X-axis direction and is connected to the first flow path outlet 383. The power terminal 310 is connected to the terminal connection part 240 from the X-axis direction.

[0032] Therefore, the connection between the rotating electric machine 200 and the power converter 300, specifically, the connection between the coolant flow path and the power supply path, is easy, and the pressure loss of the coolant is small. For example, a configuration is known in which the coolant flow path that supplies the coolant from the power converter to the rotating electric machine is exposed to the outside and routed. In this configuration, the pressure loss of the coolant occurs, and labor is required to route the piping. However, in this embodiment, it is only necessary to align the positions of the second flow path inlet 281 of the rotating electric machine 200 and the first flow path outlet 383 of the power converter 300, so the labor is reduced and the pressure loss is minimized. In addition, the connection between the power terminal 310 and the terminal connection part 240 is also completed by moving in the Z direction, so that both the power supply path and the coolant flow path can be connected at once by moving in the Z direction after adjusting the position in the XY direction.

[0033] (2) The drive unit 100 includes an inner housing 220 that houses a rotor 294 and a stator 293, and an outer housing 210 that houses the inner housing 220. A coolant is introduced between the outer housing 210 and the inner housing 220. The drive unit 100 includes a seal member 230 that contacts the outer periphery of the inner housing 220 and the inner periphery of the outer housing 210 and inhibits the movement of the coolant. The second flow path inlet 281 and the terminal connection portion 240 are arranged on different sides based on the seal member 230. Furthermore, the terminal connection portion 240 is closer to the end of the rotating electric machine than the second flow path inlet 281. In other words, when the position is projected onto the Y axis, the second flow path inlet 281, the seal member 230, and the terminal connection portion 240 are arranged in this order from the negative side. Therefore, the power terminals 310 inserted into the rotating electric machine 200 are isolated from the refrigerant, and the refrigerant can cool the rotor 294 and the stator 293 housed in the inner housing 220.

[0034] (3) Stator 293 includes stator core 291 around which coil 292 is wound. Second flow path inlet 281 is disposed between a region of stator core 291 projected in the Z-axis direction and seal member 230. In other words, the Y coordinate value of second flow path inlet 281 is between "y1", which is the minimum value of the Y axis of stator core 291 shown in Fig. 9, and the Y coordinate value of seal member 230. Therefore, the refrigerant flows along the side surface of stator core 291 which generates a lot of heat in rotating electric machine 200, and rotating electric machine 200 can be efficiently cooled.

[0035] (4) The power converter 300 includes a power module 351 that converts electric power. The power module 351 is disposed closer to the first flow passage inlet 381 than the seal projection area 380 obtained by projecting the seal member 230 in the Z-axis direction. Therefore, by shortening the overall length of the first refrigerant flow passage 382, pressure loss can be reduced, and the power converter 300 can be cooled efficiently. If the power module 351 is disposed in a position farther from the seal projection area 380 or the first flow passage inlet 381 than the seal projection area 380, the overall length of the first refrigerant flow passage 382 is inevitably long. This is because the first flow passage outlet 383, which is the end of the first refrigerant flow passage 382, contacts the second flow passage inlet 281 disposed on the positive side of the Y coordinate than the seal member 230.

[0036] (5) The power conversion device 300 includes an EMC module 353 that reduces electromagnetic noise, and a smoothing capacitor 352 that smoothes a voltage waveform. The first refrigerant flow path 382 has a flow path through which the refrigerant cools the EMC module 353 and the smoothing capacitor 352, and then cools the power module 351. Therefore, the EMC module 353 and the smoothing capacitor 352, which are weak to heat and generate less heat, can be cooled preferentially.

[0037] (6) The EMC module 353 and the smoothing capacitor 352 are disposed on the outer periphery of the power conversion device 300, and the power module 351 is disposed on the inner periphery of the power conversion device 300. Therefore, the first flow path inlet 381 can be disposed near either the EMC module 353 or the smoothing capacitor 352 disposed on the outer periphery, increasing the degree of freedom in the arrangement of the first flow path inlet 381.

[0038] (7) A gear that changes the speed of the rotational energy output by the rotating electric machine 200 is provided, and the gear is disposed at the positive end of the rotating electric machine 200 in the Y-axis direction. The seal member 230 is disposed on the opposite side of the gear 400 with respect to the stator core 291, that is, on the negative side of the Y-axis. The second flow passage outlet 283 is disposed on the same side as the gear 400 with respect to the stator core 291. Therefore, the power conversion device 300 and the gear 400 are not adjacent to each other, so that they are less likely to interfere with each other when attached to the rotating electric machine 200, and the attachment work is easy. In addition, since the second flow passage outlet 283 is provided near the gear 400, the section in which the refrigerant flows is long, and the rotating electric machine 200 can be efficiently cooled.

[0039] (8) The drive unit 100 includes an outer circumferential seal 270S that brings the power converter 300 and the rotating electric machine 200 into close contact with each other, and a flow path connection port seal 280S that surrounds the periphery of the second flow path inlet 281. The outer circumferential seal 270S and the flow path connection port seal 280S are integrated together. This reduces the number of parts and the number of assembly steps.

[0040] (Variation 1) In the embodiment described above, the first refrigerant flow path 382 is formed to first cool the EMC module 353 and the smoothing capacitor 352, and then cool the power module 351. However, the first refrigerant flow path 382 is not limited to this. Any flow path can be used as long as it can cool the EMC module 353, the smoothing capacitor 352, and the power module 351, regardless of the order.

[0041] (Variation 2) In the above-described embodiment, the outer circumferential seal groove 270 and the flow path connection port seal groove 280 are integrally formed, but they may be provided separately. In that case, the seal specifications may be changed according to the airtightness required for each seal. Even when they are provided integrally, the number of fixing points may be increased in the vicinity of the flow path connection port seal groove 280 to improve watertightness.

[0042] (Variation 3) In the above-described embodiment, the power terminal 310 and the terminal contact portion 240 are in direct contact with each other. However, there may be a conductive member between them.

[0043] The above-described embodiment is as follows: <1> ~ <5> It may be modified as follows. <1> The Y coordinate of the second flow passage inlet 281 may be a position that overlaps with the stator core 291. <2> The power module 351 may be disposed so as to overlap the seal projection area 380, or may be disposed on the negative Y coordinate side of the seal projection area 380. <3> The EMC module 353 and the smoothing capacitor 352 may be disposed on the inner periphery side of the power conversion device 300. <4> The power module may be disposed on the outer periphery of the power conversion device 300 . <5> The drive unit 100 does not necessarily have to include the gear 400 .

[0044] In each of the above-mentioned embodiments and modifications, the configuration of the functional blocks is merely an example.
