[Figure 8] FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating a single cell according to the present disclosure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0021] The fuel cell unit in the present disclosure will be described in detail below. Each of the figures shown below is a schematic illustration, and the size and shape of each part are appropriately exaggerated to facilitate understanding. In addition, in this specification, when expressing an aspect in which another member is arranged relative to a certain member, the term "above" or "below" is used, unless otherwise specified, it includes both a case in which another member is arranged directly above or below a certain member so as to be in contact with the certain member, and a case in which another member is arranged above or below a certain member via another member.

[0022] In addition, in this disclosure, when a component is described without designations such as "first" and "second," both the components designated with the designations "first" and "second" are intended to be described unless otherwise specified.

[0023] Furthermore, in this disclosure, "orthogonal" does not only mean strictly orthogonal, but also includes the case where the angle between two directions is 80° or more and 100° or less. The angle may be 85° or more and 95° or less. Furthermore, in this disclosure, "parallel" does not only mean strictly parallel, but also includes the case where the angle between two directions is 10° or less. The angle may be 5° or less.

[0024] 1. Fuel cell unit configuration Fig. 1 is a schematic plan view illustrating a fuel cell unit in the present disclosure. As shown in Fig. 1, the fuel cell unit 100 includes a fuel cell module 10 and a power converter 20 that converts the power of the fuel cell module 10. The fuel cell unit 100 also includes, as the fuel cell module 10, a first fuel cell module 10A having a first fuel cell stack 12A in which a plurality of first unit cells 11A are stacked, and a second fuel cell module 10B having a second fuel cell stack 12B in which a plurality of second unit cells 11B are stacked. The fuel cell unit 100 also includes, as the power converter 20, a first power converter 20A that converts the power of the first fuel cell module 10A, and a second power converter 20B that converts the power of the second fuel cell module 10B.

[0025] As shown in FIG. 1, in the fuel cell unit 100, the first power converter 20A is disposed on the first surface A of the first fuel cell module 10A, and the second power converter 20B is disposed on the first surface B of the second fuel cell module 10B. The first surface A and the first surface B face each other. A first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B is perpendicular to a stacking direction N of the first unit cells 11A and the second unit cells 11B. In the present disclosure, the normal direction of the first surface A and the normal direction of the first surface B are parallel, and the stacking direction of the first unit cells and the stacking direction of the second unit cells are parallel.

[0026] According to the present disclosure, the first power converter is disposed on a predetermined first surface A of the first fuel cell module, the second power converter is disposed on a predetermined first surface B of the second fuel cell module, and the first normal direction of the first surface A and the first surface B is perpendicular to the stacking direction of the first unit cells and the second unit cells, resulting in a fuel cell unit with good mountability. For example, members such as terminals for connecting to the power converters can be protruded from the same surface of the fuel cell module, and connection members such as wire harnesses extending from each power converter (power converter case) can be easily bundled, resulting in good mountability. In particular, when the power converters are housed in one power converter case, the integrated connection members can be extended from the single power converter case, resulting in even better mountability.

[0027] 2, the fuel cell unit of the present disclosure may include, as a power converter, a common power converter 20C that converts the power of the first fuel cell module 10A and converts the power of the second fuel cell module 10B. The common power converter 20C is disposed on the first surface A of the first fuel cell module 10A and is disposed on the first surface B of the second fuel cell module 10B. The configuration of the fuel cell unit 100 shown in FIG. 2 is the same as that of the fuel cell unit 100 shown in FIG. 1, except for the common power converter 20C.

[0028] According to the present disclosure, since a common power converter can convert the power of the first fuel cell module and the second fuel cell module, i.e., one power converter can function as both the first power converter and the second power converter, the size of the power converter and the power converter case themselves can be reduced, resulting in better mountability.

[0029] Here, the structure of the fuel cell unit in this disclosure can be considered as a structure in which the power converter is sandwiched between two fuel cell modules, which has the advantage that when an impact is applied to the fuel cell unit, the power converter can function as an impact buffer, improving collision safety.

[0030] 1 to 3, the first fuel cell module 10A typically has a fuel cell case 13A that houses a plurality of first unit cells 11A and a first fuel cell stack 12A. Similarly, the second fuel cell module 10B typically has a fuel cell case 13B that houses a plurality of first unit cells 11B and a second fuel cell stack 12B. Furthermore, the fuel cell cases 13A and 13B typically have openings formed on the first surface A and the first surface B for electrically connecting the fuel cell cases 13A and 13B to the first power converter 20A and the second power converter 20B, or to the common power converter 20C, respectively.

[0031] 1, the first power converter 20A and the second power converter 20B may be housed in separate power converter cases (21A, 21B). Separate power converter cases means that the case housing the first power converter 20A and the case housing the second power converter 20B are not in communication with each other. In this case, the fuel cell case 13A and the power converter case 21A are preferably connected via an opening. Similarly, the fuel cell case 13B and the power converter case 21B are preferably connected via an opening.

[0032] On the other hand, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, both the first power converter 20A and the second power converter 20B, or the common power converter 20C, may be housed in one power converter case 21. Here, as shown in Figure 2, when the first power converter 20A and the second power converter 20B cases are separate power converters, one power converter case means that the case housing the first power converter 20A and the case housing the second power converter 20B are communicated and integrated. In this case, it is preferable that the fuel cell case 13A, the power converter case 21, and the fuel cell case 13B are connected to each other at their openings.

[0033] Fig. 4 is an external perspective view illustrating a fuel cell unit in the present disclosure. Specifically, it is an external perspective view illustrating a fuel cell unit in which a power converter is housed in one power converter case. As shown in Fig. 4, in the fuel cell module (10A, 10B), an end plate X (14XA, 14XB) is arranged at one end of the fuel cell case (13A, 13B), and an end plate Y (14YA, 14YB) is arranged at the other end opposite to the end plate X of the fuel cell case (13A, 13B). Ancillary devices (first auxiliary device 60A, second auxiliary device 60B) are fixed to the end plate Y (14YA, 14YB).

[0034] Here, as shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 4, the fuel cell unit 100 may include a first auxiliary 60A that assists the operation of the first fuel cell module 10A and a second auxiliary 60B that assists the operation of the second fuel cell module 10B. As shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, the first auxiliary 60A is disposed on the second surface C of the first fuel cell module 10A, and the second auxiliary 60B is disposed on the second surface D of the second fuel cell module 10B, and the second normal direction of the second surface C and the second surface D is perpendicular to the first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B. In addition, the first auxiliary 60A and the second auxiliary 60B face each other. Note that the second surface C and the second surface D are preferably surfaces on the lower side in the direction of gravity in the fuel cell module. In addition, in the present disclosure, the normal direction of the second surface C and the normal direction of the second surface D are parallel to each other.

[0035] Furthermore, as shown in Figures 1 to 3, it is preferable that the first accessory 60A protrudes from the first fuel cell module 10A toward the power converter 20 in the first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B, and the second accessory 60B protrudes from the second fuel cell module 10B toward the power converter 20 in the first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B.

[0036] In addition, each of the first auxiliary device and the second auxiliary device may be an auxiliary device unit in which at least two auxiliary devices are integrated, whereas each of the first auxiliary device and the second auxiliary device may be a single auxiliary device.

[0037] Here, when both the first power converter and the second power converter, or the common power converter, are housed in a single power converter case, the first fuel cell module and the second fuel cell module may be connected in parallel or in series.

[0038] FIG. 5 is a diagram for explaining the connection between fuel cell modules. Specifically, it is a partial perspective view illustrating the positive and negative terminals on the first fuel cell module side in a fuel cell unit in which both the first and second power converters or a common power converter are housed in one power converter case. For example, as shown in FIG. 5(a), when the power converters are housed in one power converter case, it is assumed that the first fuel cell module and the second fuel cell module are electrically connected by connecting them inside the power converter case using a predetermined terminal. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5(b), if at least one of the positive terminals (40A, 40B) and the negative terminals (50A, 50B) in the first fuel cell module and the second fuel cell module interfere with each other (direct contact), it becomes difficult to electrically connect them.

[0039] Therefore, when both the first power converter and the second power converter, or the common power converter, are housed in a single power converter case, it is preferable that the fuel cell unit according to the present disclosure has the following configuration. The first fuel cell module has a first positive terminal plate arranged on a positive electrode side of the first fuel cell stack, a first negative terminal plate arranged on a negative electrode side of the first fuel cell stack, and a first fuel cell case accommodating the first fuel cell stack, the first positive terminal plate, and the first negative terminal plate. The second fuel cell module has a second positive terminal plate arranged on a positive electrode side of the second fuel cell stack, a second negative terminal plate arranged on a negative electrode side of the second fuel cell stack, and a second fuel cell case accommodating the second fuel cell stack, the second positive terminal plate, and the second negative terminal plate. The fuel cell unit has a first positive terminal connected to the first positive terminal plate and protruding from the first fuel cell case toward the power converter, a first negative terminal connected to the first negative terminal plate and protruding from the first fuel cell case toward the power converter, and a second positive terminal connected to the first negative terminal plate. a second positive terminal connected to the first positive terminal plate and protruding from the second fuel cell case toward the power converter, and a second negative terminal connected to the second negative terminal plate and protruding from the second fuel cell case toward the power converter, the first positive terminal having a base A1 connected to the first positive terminal plate and a protrusion A1 protruding from the base A1 toward the power converter, and the first negative terminal having a base A2 connected to the first negative terminal plate and a protrusion A2 protruding from the base A1 toward the power converter. the second positive electrode terminal has a base B1 connecting to the second positive electrode terminal plate and a protrusion A2 protruding from the base A2 toward the power converter, the second negative electrode terminal has a base B2 connecting to the second negative electrode terminal plate and a protrusion B2 protruding from the base B2 toward the power converter, and the fuel cell unit satisfies at least one of the following conditions (1) and (2). (1) When viewed from above in the stacking direction, the protrusion A1 of the first positive electrode terminal and the protrusion B1 of the second positive electrode terminal are disposed at positions that do not overlap each other. (2) When viewed from above in the stacking direction, the protruding portion A2 of the first negative electrode terminal and the protruding portion B2 of the second negative electrode terminal are disposed at positions that do not overlap each other.

[0040] With the fuel cell unit of the above aspect, the fuel cell modules can be easily connected to each other.

[0041] In addition, the fuel cell unit that satisfies at least the above condition (1) preferably satisfies the following (3): (3) In a cross section perpendicular to the stacking direction, the protruding portion A1 of the first positive electrode terminal and the protruding portion B1 of the second positive electrode terminal are arranged on the same cross section. In addition, the fuel cell unit that satisfies at least the above condition (2) preferably satisfies the following (4): (4) In a cross section perpendicular to the stacking direction, the protruding portion A2 of the first negative electrode terminal and the protruding portion B2 of the second negative electrode terminal are arranged on the same cross section.

[0042] Here, in order to avoid interference between the positive terminals and the negative terminals, it is possible to shift the positions of the terminal protrusions (terminal protrusion positions) in the stacking direction of the unit cells, but this may increase the size of the fuel cell unit. In contrast, if a fuel cell unit satisfies at least one of the above conditions (3) and (4), the positions of the terminal protrusions can be shifted in a direction perpendicular to the stacking direction of the unit cells. This means that there is no risk of the fuel cell unit becoming larger, and fuel cell modules can be easily connected to each other.

[0043] The term "cross section perpendicular to the stacking direction" includes not only the case where the angle between the cross section and the stacking direction of the single cells is strictly perpendicular, but also the case where the angle is 80° or more and 100° or less. The angle may be 85° or more and 95° or less.

[0044] The above embodiment will be described in more detail. Fig. 6(a)-(e) are a partial perspective view, a partial enlarged view, a partial plan view, and a partial cross-sectional view illustrating a fuel cell unit in the present disclosure. Specifically, Fig. 6(a) is a view that shows an example of a method for connecting a first fuel cell module and a second fuel cell module in the fuel cell unit shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 6(b) is an enlarged view of the first positive electrode terminal 40A and the second positive electrode terminal 40B in Fig. 6(a). Figs. 6(c) and (d) are schematic plan views of the fuel cell unit in Fig. 6(a) as viewed from the first normal direction of the first surface A and the first surface B, Fig. 6(c) is a plan view as viewed from the first fuel cell module side, and Fig. 6(d) is a plan view as viewed from the second fuel cell module side. Fig. 6(e) is a schematic plan view (schematic cross-sectional view) of the fuel cell unit in Fig. 6(a) as viewed from the stacking direction of the unit cells. The fuel cell units shown in FIGS. 6(a) to 6(e) satisfy the above conditions (1) and (3).

[0045] As shown in Figures 6(a) and (b), when the power converter is housed in one power converter case, it is preferable that the first positive terminal 40A has a base A1 (41A) connected to the first positive terminal plate 15A and a protrusion A1 (42A) protruding from the base A1 (41A) toward the power converter (power converter case 21), and the second positive terminal 40B has a base B1 (41B) connected to the second positive terminal plate (not shown) and a protrusion B1 (42B) protruding from the base B1 (41B) toward the power converter (power converter case 21). Furthermore, as shown in Figures 6(a) and (b), it is preferable that the normal directions of the base A1 (41A) and the base B1 (41B) are parallel to the first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B, respectively, and it is preferable that the protruding directions of the protrusions A2 (42A) and the protrusions B2 (42B) are parallel to the normal directions of the base A1 (41A) and the base B1 (41B) and the first normal direction M of the first surface A and the first surface B, respectively.

[0046] 6(c) and (d), when the fuel cell unit is viewed from above in the first normal direction of the first surface of the fuel cell module, the base A1 (41A) and the base B1 (41B) are preferably arranged in a position where they at least partially overlap. In FIG. 6(c) and (d), the base B1 (41B) on the second fuel cell module side extends further in the direction D perpendicular to the stacking direction N of the unit cells than the base A1 (41A) on the first fuel cell module side.

[0047] 6(c) and (d), it is preferable that the base A1 (41A) and the base B1 (41B) are each disposed in a central portion of the fuel cell stack in a direction D perpendicular to the stacking direction N of the unit cells. "Disposed in a central portion of the fuel cell stack" means that, in a plan view as shown in Figs. 6(c) and (d), when the length of the fuel cell stack in the direction D is L, at least one of the ends of the base in the direction D is located within a range of 0.4L to 0.6L from the end of the fuel cell stack.

[0048] By arranging the base A1 and the base B1 as described above, as shown in Fig. 6(e), in a cross section P perpendicular to the stacking direction N, the protruding portion A1 (42A) of the first positive electrode terminal 40 and the protruding portion B1 (42B) of the second positive electrode terminal 40B can be arranged on the same cross section P, and when viewed in a plan view from the stacking direction N, the protruding portion A1 (42A) of the first positive electrode terminal 40A and the protruding portion B1 (42B) of the second positive electrode terminal 40B can be arranged at positions that do not overlap. As a result, as shown in Fig. 6(a), the negative electrode terminal 50A connected to the first fuel cell module and the positive electrode terminal 40B connected to the second fuel cell module can be connected via the conductive member 70 without the positive electrode terminals interfering with each other, and the first and second fuel cell modules can be electrically connected in series.

[0049] The negative electrode terminal may be arranged as the positive electrode terminal shown in Figures 6(a) to 6(e), thereby making it possible to obtain a fuel cell unit that satisfies the above conditions (2) and (4).

[0050] 7(a)-(c) are partial perspective views, partial plan views, and partial cross-sectional views illustrating a fuel cell unit according to the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 7(a) is a diagram that illustrates an example of a method for connecting the first fuel cell module and the second fuel cell module shown in FIG. 4. FIG. 7(b) is a schematic plan view of the fuel cell unit shown in FIG. 7(a) as viewed from the first normal direction of the first surface. FIG. 7(c) is a schematic plan view (schematic cross-sectional view) of the fuel cell unit in FIG. 7(a) as viewed from the stacking direction of the single cells. The fuel cell units shown in FIGS. 7(a)-(c) satisfy the above conditions (1) and (3).

[0051] As shown in Fig. 7(a), in the above embodiment, it is preferable that the first positive terminal 40A has a base A1 (41A) and a protruding portion A1 (42A) protruding from the base A1 (41A) toward the power converter (power converter case 21), and the second positive terminal 40B has a base B1 (41B) and a protruding portion B1 (42B) protruding from the base B1 (41B) toward the power converter (power converter case 21).
